The fact that the hotel was close to the town and most attractions in the area, plenty of places to eat out nearby, Breakfast was amazing lots to choose from,,

The bed was like sleeping on a brick, But offer and supply of an extra quilt on the last night to sleep on helped.. Didn't realise until I booked that there was no restaurant, one night of bar meals over cooked coujons and reheated or microwaved chips was enough not to try again..

Location is perfect for walking into city centre. Very good breakfast with plenty choices.

The bed mattress left a little to be desired! I think several elephants had used it many times before!

Lack of parking and the parking recommended by hotel was at least 10 minute walk away.

Location is excellent for visiting the city . The reception staff were very helpful directing us to a surface carpark as we had a roof box on our car which limits us to many of the multi storey carparks . Rooms are very clean and spacious

Personally I felt the rooms although spacious feel a bit sterile but we were only there for one night . Breakfast was disappointing as three members of my party said the food was cold and we were eating early . I had the continental which was fine .

The location was great, the staff were friendly & the view from our room was ok. The room was a good size & it was quiet, hearing no noise from other customers.

Very little storage for smaller clothes like underwear so had to live out of suitcase. The breakfast was a let down, very little choice on hot food, no mushrooms or fried eggs. In fact we believe we were ill following the hot breakfast on the first morning so ended up eating yoghurt & fruit, which I have at home & not much choice of fresh fruit, appeared to be all tinned. The waffles disappeared on our second morning which we were hoping to have on that morning as a treat for our wedding anniversary & never saw them again. I know the advert said limited but then take the advert down. It also mentioned strawberries & I never saw any. Spreads for toast were also limited, no marmite, chocolate spread or similar.

The location was very good for all the attractions we wanted to visit. The breakfast was very good lots of choice. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were all friendly.

Parking is not available. However the nearest is 5 minutes by walk.

Excellent location, clean, tidy with good housekeeping.

The only negative was the breakfast which was basic and poorly stocked despite being at breakfast early(around 7am) Basic items on the hot breakfast had run out along with sourdough bread, the waffle maker was only out one day out of three.

The Reception Staff were extremely kind! The Waffels ( selfmade ones )were delicious. Total soundproof rooms. However I would have liked to open the windows since the air of the city is very fresh and clean.

Good choice of breakfast items. friendly staff and hotel very clean throughout. We have stayed here several times and will be back. Very reasonably priced for York. Uber terminal in lobby is very handy.

Breakfast was great and there was a variety of choices. The area was clean and staff was very occommodating to your needs at breakfast and through out the stay.

Fruits, bottle of water provided for the number of guest and little goodies to go with the beravages. Good location to shops and eat out.

The hotel is located very close to the city centre and the walls and has a lovely view over the old castle. The staff were welcoming. The room was superb, especially considering that this is a 3 star hotel. Judging by the room only I would have said that it is of a higher class. It was clean, spacious and felt fresh. The staff even checked if we were comfortable in the room after we had checked in, which was very pleasing. If I ever in York again, I would probably select this hotel again.

The main disappointment was the breakfast. Variety is ever so small, there were no vegetables, only one waffle maker with a long queue even though there not so many people in the dining area. Luckily it’s included in the price and not extra

Everything was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed staying at the hotel. Very good staff on Reception and rooms were immaculate.

Air con was rather too chilly at night and a little noisy, otherwise excellent.

Really nice room, well designed and spotlessly clean. Very quiet throughout the stay. We were able to get in the room early which was great.

Breakfast could have been better as it seemed a few corners were cut that meant we couldn’t give it a really high rating. The orange juice tasted more like squash rather than a fresh orange tastes. The plates were tiny making it challenging to eat even a small amount. Fresh fruit salad was again tinned fruit and some questionable apples. One of the coffee machine kept breaking meaning queues for drinks were long. My husband was disappointed there were no mushrooms or fried eggs but I was happy enough with the selection. Overall though, not great and if I went there again I would probably go out for breakfast instead. However for what we paid I still think it was good value so I can’t really complain!

Great choice for us: just outside city center but everything easily accessible on foot (train station 20 minutes). Comfy room and beds, good gym, nice breakfast (although fresh fruit was limited). Good tea options (on room and at reception). We did not use the Über portal at reception but liked that it was there. There were some construction works next door but we did not hear them.

Staff seemed indifferent. Not a big negative but we both mentioned it to each other during our stay on more than one occasion.

Sofa bed incredibly uncomfortable for my daughter. Had to ask for extra mattress, which didn't improve things much. Having noticed this comment in previous reviews, a pity nothing had been done about it. Also, there was a foreign looking guy on security out front. Fair enough. But do they really need to walk around between the tables as guests are having breakfast?!

Great location for exploring the city on foot. Good variety of food for breakfast. Ingredients were high quality. Room was quiet.

Great location, only 10 minutes walk from most of the attractions. Friendly staff, the rooms were spotless and comfortable with everything you need. Great breakfast with lots of choice and as much as you wanted which sets you up for the day.This was our second stay at the Hampton by Hilton piccadilly, and now its the only place we'll stay when visiting York.

The car park you say parking on your web page and the fact you have to pay over £20 for 1 night is very bad it needs to be bigger on your site that the car park in over £20 for one night

We thought the breakfast was very sub standard, the bed was supposed to be a queen but wasn’t, we had poor sleep due to an extremely uncomfortable mattress.

Excellent location. Very short walk to the main attractions. Hotel is clean and modern. Comfortable beds. Son slept on the sofa bed and said this was comfortable too. Excellent breakfast menu. The waffle maker was a hit with my son.

Mattress was very bad with massive dips. I would recommend to go to the room aso soon as checking in to see the facilities. We checked in but went out, returning late directly to sleep so no time to complaint at midnight.

Room was fine. Very clean apart from dead ladybird on floor but no big deal. Had everything we needed. We were under the impression that there would be a coffee machine in the room but there wasn't. There was one at reception though. Complimentary breakfast pretty good.

Main issue was the bed, or rather the bedding. The use of plastic mattress protectors means a goods night sleep is all but impossible. Although the room was cool, I was drenched in sweat after a couple of hours and therefore tired in the morning. I understand why they are used (I've even had this experience in quite expensive hotels and cruise ships) but if the whole point of a hotel is to get a good night's sleep, then it's never going to happen when you're trying to sleep on a sheet placed over a plastic protector.
