Location & availability of secure private parking

Hotel was dated & drab, Staff were perfunctory at best & generally seemed disinterested. Uncomfortable hard bed & pillows were flat, this meant sleeping was disturbed. This was made worse by street noise which echoed around the buildings. No air conditioning, the fan supplied in the humid room was ineffective as with only one power socket above the table & so too far away from bed. No safe for valuables Mug rim had a chip. No bottle of water in room. Breakfast area bit chaotic with the volume of people having to navigate such a small area.

The quilt was very thin and we were cold on the night and pillows very flat wasn't the best night's sleep

The location of the apartments could not be faulted, as was the ability to park in the complex.

The apartment had a jaded feel to it and everything was a bit worn. The en-suite shower in the room we occupied was dreadful, it was so small that it was impossible to turn round without opening the door. The panels leaked water onto the floor and the whole experience was exhausting. We called the hotel reception on our first evening to report a flickering light in the kitchen - they promised to replace it but never did.

Everything was so nice. We got there a little early but there was no questions asked. We went right to our room overlooking the river. So appreciated as we were exhausted. Took a nice nap and then went to the recommended pub in York "The Old Starre Inn." The food was delicious. Breakfast was very nice in a bright clean dining room. Did I say clean? The entire hotel was spotless.

Hotel is in a great location and the check in was great. The room on the 3rd floor was very comfortable and overlooking the river. Staff were friendly and professional

The bathroom could do with a revamp as it was dated and tired. It would be better if the bath was replaced with just a modern walk in shower. Hotel needs to look at the Premier Inn model.

The hotel was close to all visitor attractions.

The breakfast was a disgrace. Bacon so dried you couldn't cut it with a knife or eat it,the sausages scrambled eggs and hash browns were barely half cooked and the beans were cold with no toast.We had to walk away from it it was that disgraceful & disgusting.A cplaintbto the staff fell on deaf ears and a complaint at reception received the same response.We were not even offered a refund given we paying for breakfast included.We cancelled our breakfast booking for our second morning and went out to a local Café for breakfast.We were very unhappy with not getting a refund for no breakfasts and the staff in the breakfast area could do with a few lessons in manners as well as hospitality as they fall a very long way short of what is an acceptable level of courtesy or manners.There is nothing that would entice me to spend my money staying here ever again and my advice is to avoid it like the plague because staff only treat you with contempt.

Pessimo! Al momento della prenotazione NON è stato indicato che l’hotel avrebbe richiesto un deposito di 100£ (e’ stato indicato solo a prenotazione avvenuta). Il deposito è stato restituito dopo un mese. Ho contattato ripetute volte la struttura che ha sempre risposto che il ritardo nel rimborso dipendeva dalla mia banca mentre in realtà era la struttura che doveva provvedere ad emettere il rimborso ed è stato fatto SOLO dopo un mese. Prima del soggiorno ho ricevuto messaggio dalla struttura con eccessive indicazioni su come lasciare la stanza: portare via la spazzatura, lavare e riporre i piatti utilizzati, lasciare gli asciugamani utilizzati tutti insieme in bagno e mille altre indicazioni per semplificare il rifacimento della stanza e ridurne i tempi. Se si pretende tanta efficienza da parte dell’ospite sarebbe opportuno che anche la struttura fosse efficiente e rapida nella restituzione del deposito. Inoltre la stanza era al piano terra senza possibilità di aprire la finestra nonostante il caldo eccessivo del periodo. Il divano letto era pessimo e sfondato.

Reception staff could have been more polite and welcoming. Breakfast was run like an army cafeteria, with less than jolly staff, no choice of table, arrows on the floor to control your movements and merely adequate food. Room furnishings a little ‘student accom’.

Have stayed in this hotel a few times due to its perfect location to get into the centre of the city. The staff, as ever, were friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet has something for everyone. The bedroom was very comfortable. Excellent shower in the room.

Not enough sockets in the bedroom for two people who needed to charge up phones. etc. Only one free socket, although it did have a USB point within it too. The second socket had the telly plugged into it but could be used, if needed, as long as not being watched at the time!!

The location is perfect for exploring York on foot. The undercroft parking works really well if you need to leave your car - you must book in advance. The front rooms overlook the river and across to the Minster and centre. Spacious bedroom. Plenty of fabulous eateries, inumerate historic pubs and super independent shops. We loved the Shambles and its character and the walk around the old walks is well worth it. Although having to book a time slot for breakfast, the food was freshly cooked and very nice.

Nothing totally unlikeable. Bedroom we had on 3rd floor overlooked the river and across to several quayside pubs. Lovely by day but noisy by night. The more modern Slug and Lettuce across the water had a night club with music into the early hours apart from Sunday, so if you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs - we did, and needed them! Bedroom was very spacious but lacked any power points by the beds - not a problem, but a bit odd. Bathroom was ok with a full bath and overhead shower - anyone with mobility issues should mention this when booking (we were fine). The hotel takes coach bookings so if you want to have dinner be sure to book ahead as we couldn't eat in. It was not a problem as the choice in York was great and we enjoyed walking around. All minor niggles and no real complaints.

The rooms are very clean and are daily kept 😊. The staff are friendly and helpful .

The only downside is that we have stayed there twice before and never really had problems with parking, however this time they were asking for £19.50 to park per night. We ended up parking just out of York on another hotel car park who charged us £11 for 3 nights and a quick £4 taxi trip to the Queens hotel and back.

Nous avions réservé un appartement prêt pour 15h normalement et bonne surprise en voulant déposer nos sacs dès notre arrivée vers 11h15 nous avons pu disposer des clés directement ! L'emplacement est parfait tout se fait à pied, la gare, le centre ville, la supérette ... Très propre et très bien équipé il y avait même un fer à repasser !

Rien ! York est une ville que nous avons apprécié par sa taille et son accès facile d'où est situé l'hôtel

The staff are tremendous, the view from the window and the location are fab.

The hotel is in the perfect location and it’s easy to walk to all the main sites. The view from my bed across the river was very relaxing. The room was a good size and had most things you would need but a small fridge would have been helpful. The room contained both a fan and a wall heater meaning that I could control the temperature to my own needs. Breakfast was very good with a range of options to suit most. I had evening meal once and that was also very good. There’s a different menu every evening with a good number of choices. Always plenty of friendly staff around. Really good to stay in an independent hotel rather than one of the impersonal chains.

The bathroom was tired and would benefit from a returb and the bath replaced with a walk-in shower

We were able to check in slightly early which was great. The room was quite small ( most others seemed to be bigger) but it had everything we needed and was very clean. All the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was excellent. We also ate in the restaurant both nights, choices changed each evening. Good quality well cooked food.

Can’t be changed, but it is further from the station than we expected , especially with luggage, but we got an uber. Room 80 was quite compact as mentioned above , but had a great bathroom and everything you need.

We couldn’t find the Hotel !!!??? There is no large front entrance !!!??? And no large Queens Hotel sign !!!??? The only entrance is just two small glass doors down a side street !!!??? It took a lot of walking about to find the hotel !!!??? The room was quite small and very basic. The only window only opened 6 inches - and there was NO AIRCON !!! ??? There was only ONE plug in the room !!!??? There was one cheap soap dispenser in the bathroom and no shampoo or conditioner!!!??? We had room No28 which is opposite a noisey bar, and just above the hotel entrance, where coaches pick up and drop off - so not at all peaceful !!!??? Also the fire alarm went off randomly with no explanation !!!???

Tasty and plenty to choose from, including gluten-free options. Timed breakfast, but some other person checked in under our room and ate before us. It was slightly concerning, but we showed our keycard and were able to eat.

When checking out, again someone had 'checked out' using our room number. This tells me security is not great at the hotel. Someone had obviously stayed under the guise of being in a room without paying.

rooms were clean and tidy but basic. breakfast selection could be better but good enough for the price. location was excellent as on the banks of the river ouse . parking on site but have to be booked in advance at a cost within reason staff very friendly could not fault them

breakfast needs to give you more choice such as greek youghart fried eggs pancakes or waffles. bar poorly stocked with choices of whisky and branded gins

Lousy view from room. Bathroom quite dated - had a shower over the bath and a shower curtain which i hate. Final interaction with staff on reception was really poor (Sunday 2pm ish) - I was just ignored & I only wanted the car park opening. They had been great up until then (different staff).

The window is thin. I felt like cars driving past where in the bedroom also people’s steps walking past or hearing them speak. The windows need changing

The location was excellent; easy walking distance to all the main sites. Easy to get to by car, and the parking garage was very convenient. Staff was friendly and helpful, the room spacious and the beds comfortable.

No A/C and the window would not open far enough to help cool the room, but there was a fan. No electrical sockets near the beds, but there was a couple by the dressing table.

Th room was huge and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The staff was very kind, specially those working in the kitchen and servers. The desk staff was also kind and recommended me a very nice restaurant for dinner.

When I arrived there wasn't anyone at the desk, and I couldn't find a bell to ring either so I had to wait. Also, the hair dryer in the room was broken and started making smoke, very serious risk of fire that I raised immediately.

Great location and the price wasn't terrible. Breakfast was one of the best I've had at a hotel and the serving staff were polite and friendly.

Woman I spoke to by phone when I arrived was rude. I told her where I was parked, as I couldn't find the hotel carpark entrance. It was the building next door I later discovered. On giving her the name of the building i was parked at, she said she'd never heard of it and offered no useful advice on getting to the carpark entrance. I also sent an email via booking.com about reserving a parking space, which she couldn't see on the system, and then told me they always reply to messages, again, oddly defensive and rude in tone. I have proof of the message being sent, so something is wrong if that didn't get through. The hotel room was unpleasantly warm, and the single table fan provided, combined with the lack of bedside plugs, meant, for a family of three, it was two uncomfortable nights. The bath plug was clogged with hair, which was pretty grim a discovery too.

Lovely staff, room location fabulous for needs, went above and beyond when dsmily contacted about special birthday. Breakfast Lovely (sure meals are too just only had breakfast there)

The cooked breakfast was really nice, it had a home cooked feel to it. Not much of a selection of continental style breakfast though. The location was spot on close to all the amenities no need to get in the car. It has good secure parking for your car.

The room that we stayed in was very noisy from the outside traffic the window needs upgrading to stop all the sound of the traffic at night, we didn't get much sleep due to all the buses going by. The child's bed is very poor quality too small for a teenager only the size of a caravan bed. We noticed the enamel on the bath was coming off and the plug was not attached to the chain either. The room had insufficient sockets to charge phones ect one is not enough.

Loud drunks on balcony opposite but they were having a fun afternoon and were harmless. They quietened down at dusk.

Food options were limited. No Coffee Barista, very odd, only instant cappuccino available. Parking situation was a bit frustrating as we had to wait for a member of staff to let us in and out each time with the risk of flooding at any time. Very small towels

Bathroom was very bad , mouldy grout around bath , flooring was lifting around bath , and toilet bath mat was not clean ! Toilet seat enamel was worn . Not enough plugs near bed for charging phones ,

The room was very comfortable with an excellent view down the river and a great location just a couple of minutes walk to the town centre.

My only slight disappointments were breakfast which was just ok and the shower which was old fashioned with no detatchable head.

It is highly affected by traffic. Whenever a big vehicle passes, it generates not only noise but also vibration! You can feel that on your bad!

Ryan was exceptionally helpful and patient with us on check in, and all the staff were friendly. Location is brilliant, with a short walk to everything. Our room had a view of the river and the church spires across the city which was lovely. Thanks also to the night staff who helped me get my partner to an ambulance and me checked out in a hurry at 3am.

Breakfast was disappointing for the price - the kitchen had run out of items with an hour of service still to go.

Always stayed in Hotel previously without issue, lovely hotel. However had to book clousters apartments due to no room availability. The mattress in the apartment was appalling, and resulted in no sleep, after complaining different mattress was brought in by staff, the manager had previously stated it would be a new memory foam mattress. It wasnt, and although slightly better than the previous one l, after a few minutes of lying on it, it became extremely uncomfortable as it was like lying on concrete. Very disappointed after using this hotel for the last 4 years, we will not be staying here again.

Breakfast was outstanding. Bed was comfy. No aircon so room was very stuffy in the heat and only a small fan to help.

Not the Hotels fault but was woken with people knocking on doors and playing music very loud. Definitely needs aircon as rooms were very hot and stuffy and windows only open a few inches.

It is more like premier inn or Travelodge than a hotel. Nothing fancy, just basic stuff including Breakfast. So if you are not looking for luxury and just a clean comfortable stay this will do well.

Room lacking atmosphere unlike the pics on the website. Couldn‘t cool down the rooms during the night. Everything apart from bacon, eggs etc. was pre-packaged in individual portions at breakfast. We missed mocktails at the bar.
