I have actually stayed at this hotel several times before with my partner and have always had a good experience, which is why I chose to stay here again. The hotel has previously been comfortable and reliable, and I have never experienced any of the issues we had during this stay.

Unfortunately, this stay was extremely disappointing from start to finish. We experienced multiple issues with the room, including a completely blocked sink that would not drain, meaning we had to use the shower to wash our hands and brush our teeth. The Chromecast was not working despite maintenance attending, and the air conditioning repeatedly switched off after around five minutes. Most concerningly, the bedroom door would not lock. We only discovered this at night when we were going to sleep, and as two girls staying alone, this made us feel extremely unsafe. I had to barricade the door with my suitcase and a chair so that we could feel secure enough to sleep. What made the situation even more disappointing was how poorly the issues were handled by staff. I went downstairs to report the sink and air conditioning problems and requested another room, but instead of properly resolving the situation or offering us alternative accommodation, I was told over the phone by a member of staff that “all the rooms have the same issue”. This was extremely concerning and certainly did not reassure us. We had a concert that evening and needed time to get ready, and the ongoing room issues were already delaying our plans. When I was told someone would come up again, I explained that I could not spend more time waiting around for maintenance. Staff therefore agreed to send someone to fix all of the issues while we were out, and I gave them 6pm as the time we would be leaving. We were out until approximately 11:30pm, giving the hotel several hours to resolve everything. However, when we returned, nothing had been fixed and nobody had attended the room. At this point I was exhausted and extremely frustrated and did not feel I should have to spend even more of my night going downstairs to chase staff about issues they had already been made fully aware of.

Faceless electronic check in and out procedure. Very impersonal. Why have 4 reception desks but no one staffing them. Might look for somewhere more “old school” next time.

Staff - especially front desk. Not helpful. We had to call a few times to get a water, or toilet paper. Housekeeping is so slow. No minibar or a fridge in the room. They do not store even a small bag - first time I witness at a hotel !

The location! Rooms are large and lots space.

The bedding specifically no fitting sheet, so we had 2 beds both were using flat sheet right at top bed not tugged under mattress so every time you on bed the sheet come down very uncomfortable

The location was ideal for our purpose, close to public transport and right in the city centre. The lounge was great for relaxing at the end of the day.

Water pressure was not good at all. I would expect more from a city hotel.

Perfect location for Manchester pride

There was a lot of noise heard from INSIDE the hotel that only woke me up once on my 6 day stay, was not unbearable but was questioning the soundproofing of the doors and walls. Of course my stay was during Pride and in the city so the outdoor noise was expected and did not bother me. These did not affect my thoughts on the stay. I also stayed on the 15th floor, and my room 1503 had very bad low water pressure, I am guessing because it is on a higher level but it made it difficult flushing the toilet which I had to do multiple times, and showering wasn't as satisfying either. Again this is just a preference so did not affect my rating on the hotel.

Great location and modern. Had an issue early hours in the morning with being locked out of my room as the door handle had broke but they came and sorted quickly.

Considering how much I paid, the room I stayed in had a big chip in the sink, lightbulbs not working. The seal on the window wasn’t working effectively so was much louder to sleep.

The freshness, cleanness and general pleasant vibe from the staf. Breakfast was fab and frequently replenished and great variety accompanied by friendly staff.

I wasn't too keen on the air conditioning, no matter what function i tried to used it seemed to only cool to a certain temperature and then shut off once at 19 for the room to then heat up again which gave a slightly disturbed sleep.

Reception staff exceptionally helpful. They went out of their way to ensure that our room's suited our needs

Service, no help from staff. 4 days and room wasn’t cleaned although requested many times. The bed moves around, very dangerous if you have young children/babies. The rubbish wasn’t collected, had to stay with 4 days worth of rubbish from 2 babies. Don’t recommend this hotel for families with young children.

It was a lovely room with great shower. Their kitchen is really good: compliment to their chefs! :-)

Their bar was kind of basic...no chance for a decaf latte... The room was advertised as "soundproof" and I really requested a soundproof room when I checked in late night. The receptionist chap told me he put me almost on the top of the building so there would be no disturbance... Well, I could hear my next neighbours couhings [they probably both got flu] and when they were flushing the toliets...almost evey moves...well, the hotel put me into a room where the rooms can be joined by a door in the middle of the room...which always risks the fact that those rooms cannot really be soundproof... I was really disturbed by the fact that the room was not soundproof as it also meant they could hear me easily as well... The good thing was my 3rd night really peaceful...:-) To asnwer your question: I did not ask for a different room upon discovering the noise because I just simply did not trust the system anymore.

Seule remarque: 2 très grosses taches sur la moquette à l’entrée de la chambre. Je pense qu’avec les moyens existant aujourd’hui, il aurait été correct de les nettoyer.

Room 616 pipes making a noise when running the water and woodwork around the bathroom door inside is rotting due to water from the shower.

Comfy beds, quick attention to the broken window handle and cupboard door, great breakfast selection.

Window handle broke off when I tried to open it and cupboard door handle was hanging off. Had to ask for the maintenance guy to fix. Tried to order room service by calling 0 but either got no answer or a person who kept asking how they could help when I'd asked for room service! In the end had to get help from daughter to order via the app.

Very helpful staff when my husband arrived earlier than planned - he was able to check in much earlier than we'd expected. Friendly staff on reception and handyman came to fix a problem in the room after only about 20 mins. Breakfast was great - no problem getting a table, staff friendly and helpful and food selection excellent. This is my third stay at this Clayton and I will come again

Room was all great on arrival day. Day 2 room was serviced but water/snacks not replaced. Day 3 the room was not serviced at all so we had no fresh water/biscuits, damp towels and ran out of loo paper on the morning of the day we were leaving.

Staff were so friendly, polite and helpful. The room had a gorgeous view, all facilities were clean, bed and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location. Despite being in the city centre, there was no noise in the room from outside which was great. Breakfast was fantastic with plenty of options. 100% recommend and definitely would stay again.
