Good
A lovely b&b in a great location. The hosts did an amazing job at making us feel welcome. We had a lovely stay!
Amazing people ! Very good food
The breakfast was fabulous 5☆+
Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations. The Hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming — nothing was too much trouble for them, and they made us feel right at home. The breakfast was fresh and had a great variety of choices every morning. Our room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The location is perfect — only 5 to 10 minutes from the city, and the free parking was a great bonus. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting St Ives.
Liked everything
Lovely breakfasts, friendly owners
Sessel
The couple who run the inn were friendly and accommodating. They made breakfast to order and nothing was too much trouble. Situated in a pleasant location with a lot of outdoor space for relaxing. Good parking in the property grounds.
The tap for the bathroom sink could be higher so less awkward when washing hands. The shower glass on the bath could be wider to keep splashes in the bath and less on the floor. For H&S a hand rail for stepping out of the bath from the shower would be helpful.
Schöner ruhiger Garten. Gutes Frühstück. Super nette Besitzer
Leider wurde ohne Aufforderung nicht täglich der Müll im Zimmer gelehrt, was bei einem hotel Standard sein sollte
Hosts were amazing. Breakfast was the best we have had. Beautiful accommodation with great facilities. Hosts were accommodating, couldn't do more.
I like everything nothing negative.
Breakfast very good. No problem asking for what you wanted
Very happy with our few days away
The location to St Ives and to explore the part of the coast is good. Quieter than in St Ives anyway. The boss and the lady who prepares breakfast are friendly.
The whole hotel and our room did not make a very neat and tidy impression. Dust along the ceilings there and there in the room testified to this. The furnishings of the room have long since passed its best time. The hotel leverages on the proximity to St Ives. The value for money ratio deems not right at all.
Dave and Jackie were just the perfect hosts anyone could have hoped for, always around and available, and respected our privacy at all times. We stayed for 2 nights and thought we really made the best decision after seeing the chaos in St. Ives and the very, very narrow roads, etc. Our room was comfortable and clean, and there was great parking. We did not feel like going out one night, and Jackie organized with her chef to make us dinner. That was awesome. The breakfast is a must. Everything is freshly and properly cooked. There is also a lovely lounge with a fireplace next to the bar. I also enjoyed having a glass of wine in the sunny garden. A real gem of a place.
I loved everything, will definitely stay again.
Rooms are tidy and clean. Breakfast was very good. Spacious parking spaces.
The location was ideal for us. We enjoyed the breakfast. Enjoyed sleeping and the kids loved the bed.
A little improvement with cleanliness. There are dust and cobwebs behind the bedside table. It got into my hands when I turned on the bedside lights—also, the sides of the clothes drawer. e
What a wonderful place to stay in St Ives! It’s only a short 5-minute drive, and a £12 taxi fare makes it so convenient. The value for money is incredible, especially with so much open space to enjoy. But what truly makes this place special are the owners; they are such lovely, polite people who genuinely care about their guests. I had a truly heartwarming experience staying there!
This was the perfect little place just outside st Ives
Everything the house was fantastic and so were the guys who run the house? So friendly
Good parking onsite. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent and the hosts are outstanding…. so helpful accommodating and friendly. I would definitely stay again.
Excellent the service was good and very friendly people
The Countryman offers the best of "country" comfort in a location away from the crowds but close enough to enjoy what the crowds come for. David, the host, made me feel very welcome and "at home."
No complaints at all. My only gripe was having to leave after only two nights. I would have liked staying longer.
The hosts were lovely. The room was well appointed with a king size bed and it was clean. Would stay there again.
The room was spacious and clean. The location was perfect—close to major attractions yet peaceful and quiet. It included all the essentials such as comfortable bedding,Wi-Fi, TV, bathroom with toiletries and some complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the room. The breakfast was also great, it has well-organized dining area with attentive staff. David and Jacque are so warm and approachable. Thanks to them we had a comfortable stay. I would highly recommend staying here, it’s worth every penny. Parking is also available.
a lovely place to stay .We were made very welcome, and enjoyed delicious breakfast and dinner
nothing !
Breakfast was very good and hot maybe just have a jug of milk on the table so guests aren't having to get up and down....and maybe the dinning room could have been a bit warmer as stayed in march but overall really enjoyed the stay
Just a bit warmer in the dinning room and maybe a different choice of music a bit more up beat
The suite was very clean with a comfortable bed.Plenty of pillows and towels. The breakfast was a good varied choice and served hot. All other breakfast accoutrements were available in the nice and light breakfast dining area. The lounge area was cosy with a roaring log burner and well stocked bar. Dave and Jackie were excellent hosts giving us advice on visiting St Ives.
Nothing.
breakfast plentiful and good very relaxing evenings by the fire dinners super very quiet easy access to St Ives and away to the rest of Cornwall Local excellent Cider and Madri on tap
all good
Excellent location for relaxing far from the hustles and bustles of city life. The host was very friendly and helpful. The property was neat and clean. Can't ask for more
Can't think of anything to complain about
Stayed with my dad and brother for a trip to see relatives. Fantastic rooms, great staff, superb breakfast/meals. Would 100% stay again. If you are gluten free this hotel absolutely caters for you. On arrival we received a very friendly greeting from the owners, who were just as friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay, I was immediately told that they had gone and bought gluten free bread for the breakfast(as I had messenger them prior to arrival to let them know I was gluten free) and also checked all the ingredients for the hot breakfast items and informed what I can and can’t have - this immediately put me at ease and was very appreciated and was a very nice touch for them to be so considerate about it. As for the room, comfy beds, lovely bathroom, clean, room cleaning/fresh towels etc available on request. We stayed for three nights and for two we ended up eating in at the hotel in the evening, including the really fantastic Sunday dinner which I would very much recommend. Very attentive staff/owners and really friendly, the type of people you’d happily sit and have a pint with. As for the location, it’s great for St Ives, I’ve seen a few reviews where people have said it’s “out of the way” it’s either a very short drive, or a taxi which for us was £12 each way for when we wanted to have a drink. Or, you can drive to the very nearby park and ride and take the train into St Ives for much cheaper. The breakfast was superb, easily one of the best we’ve had at a hotel, a really fantastic continental selection of pastries, juice, teas, coffee, waffles, jams, cereal etc and the hot breakfast was very very good - on the last day we woke up at around half 8 and got down to the breakfast area for about 10 to 9. No issue at all and breakfast was still served for us without any complaint from the staff/owners at all.
N/a - Loved our stay
Very close to st Ives, rooms are lovely, spacious beautiful location, breakfast was great and the owners are lovely very accommodating, friendly couldn’t do enough for us.
Nothing
The hotel is just marvellous. A warm welcome and care by the hosts during the stay. Prime location between St. Ives snd Penzance. Food is outstanding, especially the signature breakfast. Rooms are amazing, with immaculate cleanliness and beds are comfortable.
Good location with very good host's and the breakfast was great 👍 room was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and return 👌
Great hosts and an amazing breakfast included with our stay. Perfect location that suited us, a very short drive to st ives, carbis bay and st Michaels
very good. plenty of choice and hot
we had to make our own tea
The hotel is in a good location and the room was great, clean and comfortable.
Very quiet place to be, clean and tidy.
The fact that when booked we believed evening meals would be available, but this was incorrect due to chef leaving, Towels not changed daily, no top up of drinks tray ie’ tea coffee, milk, no complementary bottled water available, only a glass bottle we had to ask for, and obviously tap water,
Breakfast was excellent! Loved it! Freshly cooked every morning and all good ingredients. David and Jacqueline were the best hosts, they go above and beyond to accommodate. Great family run business. The location was fantastic plenty of parking and garden space. Highly recommend.
The hosts were so welcoming and accommodating. It was excellent value for money and a very comfortable room.
Lovely accommodation in the perfect spot for St Ives

We had a wonderful 3-night stay in August. Hosts were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Room was spotless, surprisingly spacious and nicely furnished. Great location close to St Ives, many attractions within easy reach by car. Highly recommend!
The hosts were fabulous and the breakfast perfect.
Very clean and comfortable
David and Jacqui were the perfect hosts nothing was too much bother
David and Jaqy was too good, rooms were so clean and breakfast was on point. We really enjoyed our stay
David and Jackie were excellent, friendly hosts who made sure we knew to ask if we needed anything. The room was clean and spacious with decent bathroom and storage. Lots of room to park and very close to so many wonderful scenic areas. Cooked breakfast was also excellent.
We were just surprised that despite staying 3 nights the room was not attended to. We always keep our room tidy but generally expect that things you use are cleaned or replenished. Not a major thing but for 170 a night some touches like water in the room would be good.
Lovely Easter break! The 'Owl' room was ideal for the four of us, as has bunks for the kids & a fabulous super-king bed. Superb Breakfasts & Sunday roast served by hosts Dave, Jackie & their team. 5 min drive from St Ives, didn't cause us an issue. This is quite a remote spot so would need a car as not much within walking distance. Excellent base for touring the extreme 'Pointy end'
Lovely place enjoyed a wkend here New Year’s Eve , lovely hosts.
It was a lovely little gem ,very friendly staff and very comfortable stay .

We loved our stay, lovely people nice room and wonderful breakfast.

Lovely location, very quiet and peaceful, relaxed atmosphere and a great breakfast each morning.
Small country hotel, set in gardens very pleasant stay. Jacquie and Dave welcoming and so was cat daisy. Beds very comfortable and rooms clean. Breakfast was lovely, juice fruit, yoghurt and a cooked breakfast to order. They also do a dinner at night, easier than driving somewhere.
Beautiful B&B, room was comfy & clean everything you needed, breakfast excellent the choice was amazing, fabulous hosts very welcoming & helpful.
Was a little disappointed that the restaurant was closed on the 2 nights we were staying, and it wasn't stated on the website. It was one of the reasons we chose the countryman. the choice of Gins was limited to just plain Gin, perhaps adding some flavoured Gins for us Gin lovers, also the road was very busy & fast making it impossible to go for a walk.
Very friendly host!
Nothing
Attractive property. Lovely surrounding garden. Very clean and well kept. On site parking
Only minor criticism is property, although set back, is on a reasonably quietish road, cars do tend to speed by. You are not able to walk along it I suggest
Breakfast was lovely.
Location was great, just a few minutes drive into St Ives. Nice and quiet location. Hosts were very helpful. Lovely breakfast.
Small friendly family operated inn. Family room on 2nd floor is quite big. Separate toilet. Carpets in rooms and hallways/steps. Continental (fresh fruits, juice, cereals, bread, packaged croissants etc) and very tasty English (freshly made on request) breakfast. Big garden with lots of seating tables. Very tasty cream tea. Easy to reach St.Ives and other places.
Pub area is more living room style, a bit too private for our taste.. Street is a bit loud, but we were happy to have no window towards the street.
Great little hotel in a quiet area. Very good for exploring St Ives and Carbis Bay. Car is definitely required.
very clean. felt very comfortable. nice touch with board games etc
breakfast time is way to short. just 1 hour. 8/9am. needs to be until 10 am to let people relax and not have to get up early.
The staff went above and beyond and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We even saw the staff bake scones from scratch for a lady that wasn’t staying in the hotel but happened to stop by to use the bathroom.
The owners Jackie and Dave were incredible hosts and made us feel very welcome all the time. But our greatest joy was playing with their Mainecoon Cat Daisy :)
Na
The room was good size for family. Toiletries provided were of nice quality The owners were very polite and helpful. The morning breakfast was served hot.
NA
Beautiful property and great location
Breakfast superb Location ideal
I didn't like the way the house cat ignored me !!
Great amount of space in the family room. Clean and modern. Fresh towels and an awesome breakfast.
Overall both the family and location were wonderful. We would recommend anyone to stay. We were made to feel welcome and the location was perfect.
There was nothing to dislike.
Everything else couldn't fault, very clean, comfortable room with everything needed and the breakfast and location was fantastic!!
One minor thing was,the room we were in the toilet was separate from the bathroom which was a bit cramped and dark a bit like being in a cupboard and was a little harder especially for my partner who is tall.
This was our second year at The Countryman; we were in a different family room this year which was just as comfortable as the year before, I think I probably preferred the layout of this room but both were lovely. Our hosts, Jackie and David were great and nothing is ever too much trouble. Great choice at breakfast and we were pleased to see the pool table was still there! See you again soon!!
Good quiet location the host’s very friendly breakfast was great well done Jackie

Great customer service, lovely owners and delicious food
Bedroom nice except en suite to small.
En suite.
The Countryman was in a good location and we liked that it was in the countryside with a garden. We appreciated having lots of room to park. Our room was comfortable with a good sized bed and lots of storage. Even though the property is beside the road it wasn’t noisy. We enjoyed the tasty breakfasts and the tea tray in our bedroom was useful. Our hosts were friendly and very helpful.
The only thing really was the electric shower which we were not good at adjusting. Also for me the spiders in the bath - but that’s my phobia! - I have the same problem here at home. Definitely the outside and garden area could be tidied up and reception areas could do with some updating sometime in the future.
Breakfast lovely, dave and Jackie lovely couple, couldn't do enough for us.
Very friendly atmosphere in hotel. Fantastic food which is reasonably priced, great chef. David and Jackie were excellent hosts. Our room was beautiful with lovely surrounding gardens set in the countryside.

The location was perfect, lovely owners, good food, perfect.
Didn't serve food on Mondays and Tuesday evenings but that shouldn't take anything away from this lovely place.
Great location! The room is so cosy!

Peaceful - away from the hustle of tourist towns!
we bumped our head in the bathroom a few times with the shape of the room but we acclimatised!
The room was clean and tidy and had everything we could have needed and the bathroom was very good and we could not fault anything about the room at all, we were very impressed with all aspects, a very comfy bed, a TV, tea making facility etc, what more could you want. Also the breakfast was 100% served in a really nice dining room with all the facilities we needed or could ask for. We stayed for an evening meal one night and all the food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. The owners and the staff went out of their way to make our stay totally enjoyable and we would not hesitate to stay there again, or recommend The Countryman to anyone who wanted an enjoyable stay in that part of Cornwall, we cannot praise this as a place to stay highly enough.
Nothing to not like as we were catered for so well you could not have asked for more and the room, bathroom were just right. the dining room was clean tidy and decorated and equiped very well so nothing to improve at all. We could not fault anything.
David and Jackie are amazing and very friendly people.
nothing
Clean, Spacious rooms. Enjoyable common area - with a wonderful fire place, pool table and little bar. Good breakfast and food Most of all , warm, friendly and welcoming hosts in David and Jackie, the owners. Thank you both, for a wonderful stay. whilst we did not get to spend much time, there is a nice large Garden. Would make a brilliant place in the summer, when they do BBQ’s and beer
