Relaxing atmosphere
There was nothing I didn’t like
Excellent breakfast and evening food even better! Bit expensive but good value for money.
The room was quite small and could be a bit noisy due to the bar downstairs
All the staff are amazing made the holiday
We've just returned from a stay at The Gannet. It's such a lovely hotel, so comfortable and beautifully furnished. The staff are really helpful and friendly. There's ample parking on site and in the nearby overspill car park, though with a bus stop just outside and the local train station, we didn't need to move the car. Breakfast was well cooked and presented but we didn't have chance to try the restaurant in the evening. Being allowed to use the spa facilities at Carbis Bay Hotel was an added bonus
There's nothing negative to say@
Car park was across a busy road
No lift. We are an elderly couple who found it hard to get to our room up stairs
We stay away from home quite a bit. This place has all the facilities, but more than that - they really look after you. There is no scrambling for a breakfast buffet, breakfast is served to your table. There was an excellent choice of two courses. The overnight oats are second to none. The beds were very comfy and our room had an amazing view of lovely Carbis Bay. Staying here means you can enjoy the spa, also in walking distance of St Ives, one and a half miles away, a short (but steep ) walk to the station, it’s also on a bus route and has plenty of parking. The hotel staff leave some very welcome home made biscuits in the room. Good after a day out in beautiful Cornwall. Husband happy as hotel also houses a popular sports bar! Spa and sports - everyone happy
I loved this property. There’s nothing I didn’t like. However the hill is very steep so may not be accessible on foot to everyone.
Just returned from a fantastic visit to The Gannet Inn. Amazing food, friendly and welcoming staff in a great location.
Trevligt rum med utsikt, lugnt, bra resturang.
Beautiful hotel. Amazing staff. Situated close to beach and st ives. Our room was perfect with the most incredible views. Added bonus being able to use carbis bay facilities
Comfy Super King/Twin Bed with good mattress. Location was great for bus to St Ives or anywhere around the area. Walk to the beach is downhill 15min and was great. Parking wasn't a problem. Shout out to the super friendly staff that had accommodations for some extras we needed!
During heatwave the window could only be opened an inch or so, which made sleeping hard. Fan was provided but was assembled incorrectly, once taken apart and back together it actually got some airflow and we tried getting cold air in overnight.
Friendly staff, lovely room, great food
Our room was directly above the bar which meant some noise until midnight, though it did stop at that time
Nettes Personal, schöne Einrichtung, Pool Nutzung in anderem Hotel möglich
Zimmer hatte kleine Mängel
Lovely location. Short walk down hill to the Carbis beach hotel. Great being able to book a 4 hour slot in the Carbis beach hotel pool and spa. Breakfast was lovely. Ample parking. Staff friendly. We were able to check in early which was a bonus. The bed was really comfortable.
The only thing was the windows didn’t open much which made the room quite warm at night. We think this was due to being in a room without a view.
Fabulous breakfast
Everything was great!
Great location and staff were amazing.
Close to carbis bay. Food was amazing. Staff were brilliant. Also great access to the sister hotel spa.
Food in the restaurant was super. Polite and helpful staff. Room was spacious and airy.
No air conditioning in bedroom which would have been helpful in the summer months. The climb up a narrow stairs case to the second floor carrying luggage (no lift) was a challenge.
Posizione fuori dal centro ma facilmente raggiungibile e vista . Colazione e pasti veramente eccezionali
Tutto ok
Excellent customer service, all staff were brilliant!
Only down side is not having a fridge in the room
We dined 4/8/26. my wife had the goats cheese mousse which was small and underwhelming, the toast was as hard as a rock, completely inedible. I had prawn cocktail which contained 4 prawns in a jar, very odd, neither course was worth the money. My wife then had chicken stroganoff, which was very average and still not sure what a vol-au-vent case was doing on the plate. I had duck which was cooked very well, juicy and pink, still don't understand the floppy pancake on the plate. Over-rated and over-priced. We came here 2 years ago and had a lovely meal, this time was very poor and will not be returning
Good location and near the town centre and beach, all good. The staff were lovely and helpful. However, the room we had was the smallest we have ever had on our travels. There was no room to put a suitcase and the bathroom size was ridiculous. The room was advertised as ‘cosy’ but this is very misleading oh and no air con. Breakfast was good but dinner was average. Very expensive and now near value for money. Went to a nearby premier inn the next day at half the price and with air con.
The staff were lovely, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.
There were no drawers to store our clothes, a limited choice of hot drinks to make in the room, no fridge… it was nice but didn’t feel luxe enough to justify the price.
La camera è la cena
Tutto bello
We stayed for 3 nights in July ,a very warm welcome greeted us on arrival , loke the weather . A lovely Quirky room. Nice bedding and towels good shower , comfy chairs . The breakfasts were excellent and dinners were tasty ,beautifully presented ..Highly recommend the Chocolate Lava pud and I enjoyed the Chicken Kiev and husband Porchetta. Great value for D,B&B. The hotel is a down hill walk from the beach at Carbis Bay and a very steep walk back up but if you go steady it's ok even with beach chairs. It's on a convenient bus route to St Ives or the train . We must mention the staff here. They were all excellent , thoughtful, professional, pleasant nothing was too much trouble. We wish the three young staff Ella , Dan and the cute girl who went to the lake district all the best when you go to Uni you were excellent .Thanks to the receptionist the gentleman on the bar and the couple just married. We really hope to return .
Everything! We didn't want to leave.
A mini fridge in the room would be useful.
O ambiente, o pequeno almoço, os funcionários, a comodidade, a vista, quase tudo.
Quartos sem AC, muito quentes, falta de elevador, o que para uma pessoa de 83 anos é muito difícil, quando é colocada num 3.º andar!!
The staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. They went out of their way to be helpful.
The room was a little stuffy because of the very hot weather. A larger cooling fan would have been helpful.
Location
The bar area is tucked away at the back of the restaurant and it would be nicer if it had a closer proximity to the lounge area.
Location, Staff were friendly and professional
The room was dirty with dust on the radiator in the bathroom. The room was so hot and were unable to open the windows wide enough to let fresh air in. The room and shower room were tiny.
Excellent breakfast Excellent lounge area Easy parking Lovely staff
The room-advertised as ‘cosy’ which was a euphemism for far far too small. Tiny bathroom almost unusable. No room for suitcases Just about enough room to squeeze past the end of the bed. No storage space for everyday clothes Lack of security. Anyone could walk in during the night and get access to the accommodation.
Breakfast excellent
The room we stayed in the blue bell has some road noise. If you are a person that spends alot of time in the room this might not be a good place
We had a wonderful four-night stay at The Gannet and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. We were delighted to be upgraded to a beautiful, spacious room that was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. The staff were exceptional throughout our stay – friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile. The food was plentiful, delicious, and of a consistently high standard. The hotel is ideally located, just a lovely 20-minute walk from St Ives and only five minutes from Carbis Bay Spa, where we spent several relaxing afternoons by the pool taking in the stunning sea views. The walk back from the spa is quite steep, but the hotel staff kindly arranged a taxi for us each day, which was greatly appreciated. We had such a fantastic experience and would not hesitate to return. Thank you to everyone at The Gannet for making our stay so memorable.
Restaurant food amazing Downside our bedroom mattress was very dirty which freak me out 🙀
The interior stunning . The decor and finish was top class
I didn’t think a chair was needed in the bedroom, as not enough space
Was just ok as an experience but expected better in all areas to be honest
The room - tiny shower area is black and could do with bleaching or re doing ! but nice decor in room. The food - both Breakfast and Dinner where again just ok could be more choice for breakfast and you need a toaster in the kitchen as the toast is just hard bread! Dinner was over priced for the starters, in particular the goats cheese was served on a stale bit of hard bread which I could'nt cut..the portion was miniscule, waitress was abrupt both at breakfast and dinner!
Amazing food .. great staff … lovely vibe !
I must say that our stay for both of us turned out to be perfect. We enjoyed a very nice room with a great view, the bed was very comfortable, food just great and the staff, second to none, they were brilliant. Certainly going back again, just to see the staff.
The food was incredibly good both breakfast and dinner. The sea view was beautiful - as described. There was a welcoming sports bar next door.
The room was up 3 flights of stairs and no lift available. We are in our late 70s but we managed. We booked a superior room but this was an attic room with many sloping ceilings where we seemed to keep bumping our heads! Also being an attic room it was incredibly hot, though there was a fan available which we used. Paying £1500 for a 5 night stay I would have expected a change of bedding.
We come to Cornwall and usually St Ives every year to celebrate our wedding anniversary after getting married 9 years ago at Tregenna Castle. Having enjoyed drinks with friends and breakfast at The Gannet on previous visits we decided to lock this in as our base last year on our return trip last week. This was a fantastic place to spend our 5 nights and I think exceeded expectations in many ways with everything hitting the spot perfectly! The location is ideal as it’s only half an hours walk along the coast path via Carbis bay beach and hotel to St Ives which is wonderfully scenic or less than a 5 minute bus ride on the 14/17 which we used daily to get around as they were so handy to just tap on and off. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and well maintained with plenty of character and charm but boasting modern facilities and decor that enhance the experience and tie into the overall aesthetic with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We stayed in the main building on the top floor in Pickleweed which was a beautiful room with a partial sea view. On first impressions the room felt a bit compact for our duration but ultimately had everything we needed from a big comfortable bed, ample storage space, modern shower and bathroom and included water, biscuits and towels being replenished daily which was a nice touch. On our first evening we decided to stay local and eat downstairs in the restaurant and the food was delicious. We both had the black pudding scotch egg to start and my husband had the burger and I the mussels which went down very nicely with our wine and Guinness. Most evenings once we had finished dinner and a drink in the town we’d always have a nightcap in the bar and choose to sit in the window or in the comfy chairs near the front which was a really nice way to unwind and relax over a game of cards or chess before calling it a day. The complimentary breakfast that was included as part of our stay was excellent, the variety was plentiful which meant a different choice could be made each day from a starter snd then main as well as toast and preserves and juices also being on offer. We definitely made the most of this so we could fuel up and know we had a decent hearty meal in before our days adventures unfolded. Finally, the staff here were incredible and are an absolute credit to the hotel! They are all polite, professional and hardworking-nothing was ever too much trouble. Some of them who served us in the morning were still there in the evening but remained smiling and upbeat throughout. Special mention to Joe and his girlfriend whose name I didn’t get they were brilliant and so was the older gentleman who had superb charisma and a great personality. We had a wonderful stay and every year it gets harder to leave but we’ll be back again soon to visit our home away from home. Thank you Gannet, you were great! ❤️
This hotel.is a mile and a half from St Ives along a bus route that is very regular. St Ives is fabulous and worth a visit with its many hidden gems. Our room was two houses down from the main property. Access was by stairs only. Room was pleasant and clean lovely decor and king size bed. Bathroom had old style standalone bath and shower was on wall at this. However you have to climb into the bath to use shower and it is high. Breakfast was fabulous with good menu choice.
Walk in shower and less stairs.
Lovely staff, great food, good location
Our room had a window above the toilet with a blind that didn’t work - we could see the neighbours on the balcony whilst we used the bathroom.
We stayed at The Gannet Inn in Carbis Bay. It was a fantastic trip. We added on Half Board in case we wanted to eat in. We made the right decision The food is absolutely fantastic I cannot recommend it highly enough. The room was lovely. The staff were so lovely. All in all a great stay. We went on Monay 15 Jun and returned today,
Clean and very friendly staff
The room we stayed in was right above the kitchens. Very noisy until 11.00pm and then noisy from 6.00am. So didn’t get a lot of sleep. Slamming of doors
Great food.
Further away from beach than expected and on a very steep slope.
Great location, on bus route. Hotel and facilities were excellent. Food was lovely. What really made this place great are the staff, they are super friendly and nothing is too much for them.
No cereal..
Enjoyed my stay here. Private but B&B feel and hospitality. Restaurant was an exceed expectations. Breakfast well worth it to start the day. Quality dinner menu and found more enjoyable to end my day at the restaurant. Tip: If traveling by train utilize the Carbis Bay stop before the St. Ives, 10 minute walk vs 35 minute (although very pleasant) from St. Ives, especially when arriving or departing with your luggage. Easy couple minute ride to St Ives. Carbis Bay also convient to St Erth to see more of Cornwall.
The customer service throughout the property was exceptional. Always a smiling face and always ready to help and answer questions. There was a lady at the reception (I wish I caught her name) she was really helpful, always going above and beyond. Free parking for guests, good breakfast always hot. The room was comfortable with a great view. Being the sister hotel of the Carbis Bay Estate it was amazing to use the spa facilities there!
Having booked a table for 3, when we arrived we informed the greeter that it was now just the 2 of us and requested the same table as husband and I need to sit next to each other (he has hearing difficulties) The server/greeter (with a high degree of attitude) shoved 2 tiny round tables towards each other and thats where we were seated - one each! Not impressed Husband’s chicken tikka korma was decidedly uninspiring, dry and tasteless. My lasagne was fine, but the garlic flatbread was large, dry and a very weird accompaniment to a lasagne We’re all different, but I certainly wouldn’t return, or recommend
Food in the Hotel was excellent especially Sunday Dinner.
My wife dropped something which rolled under the bed out of reach. So I pulled the bed forward away from the wall.. There was an old used tissue,a tablet, a info card and the skirting board was thick dust. The shower cubicle door didn't close which let water out . There was already water damage to the door and architrave. So its been like it a while.
Es gab vom Zimmer aus eine weite Aussicht auf das Meer - das Hotel liegt aber an einer Straße oberhalb der Küste. Wer eine Unterkunft am Strand sucht, ist hier falsch.
I've said this so often But the Gannet Roast is head and shoulders above anywhere in my opinion good amount hot, wonderful flavor and great ingredients great service and always very welcoming
food breakfast and dinner good
no lift
If you want a well run hotel with efficient friendly staff with lovely rooms and great food - you can’t do better than the Gannet- staying there also gives you spa access to Carbis Bay Hotel- we enjoyed our stay and delighted to recommend this hotel
Just had the most amazing meals for my husband’s 60th. We had 3 roast beef dinners and one pie of the day. All I can say is wow! Superb food, lovely ambience.
The food and staff were amazing, we cannot fault them at all! However the room we booked needed some TLC, there was a crack in the wall by the window, hole behind radiator and the bathroom door was damaged due to water. The heating did not work in our room and the mould of the shower glass door was not good. The sea view was in the distance and could only be seen on a clear day. As much we we loved the food and staff we won’t be back as it was incredibly expensive for the room we got
Really lovely stay. We did the offer which for £225 included one night stay, 2 course dinner at the restaurant there, breakfast and use of Carbis Bay hotel spa facilities which was lovely. Staff were friendly, room was nice, big and comfy and the food was lovely, definitely recommend!
I stayed at The Gannet Inn for 3 nights, my first time in Cornwall and I loved the location, everything I wanted to do was within an hour away and the sea view was beautiful. I stayed in Bluebell and the room was lovely; a very cosy bedroom and stunning bathroom. It was very clean, quiet (with minimal road noise) and my stay was everything I wanted and needed it to be. Anna at reception was very friendly to check-in with on arrival. Will be returning in the future!
Brilliant meal at the gannet for a family birthday, food and staff were top notch. Also having experienced the Sunday roast. It is definitely the best in st.ives will definitely be returning.
We stayed at the Gannet for one night before moving on to their sister property the Basset Arms at Portreath for another night. The rooms we had in both were comfortable and well appointed and we had a friendly welcome. The breakfast and dinner were both very good. We were exceptionally lucky with the weather and were able to take advantage of the spa at the Carbis Bay hotel which is outside although the pool is heated. Not often you can lie on a sunbed in Cornwall in March! While at the Basset Arms we had fabulous views on our coastal walk. Would definitely recommend this 2 centre break which we felt was excellent value for money.
We had a great stay here. The room was lovely and spacious, the bed was very comfy. Everything was clean and we loved every second we were there. The reception staff were there when we needed them and very helpful. We ate in the restaurant both nights and both mornings, the food was delicious, the best we have found in a long time. We will 100% be back very soon
We did a last minute break away, we were not disappointed. Our room was quirky, cosy and bed comfy. The staff were warm and welcoming, extremely tentative and helpful. The evening dinner was a fine dining experience great menu choice and food was exceptional, breakfast was equally nice. The waiting and bar staff gave outstanding customer service! We also experienced the C Spa a really nice included treat as part of package! Would definitely return!
We very much liked The Gannet Inn. Very nice, modern, but comfortable décor Very good welcome and were surprised to get a voucher for free drinks! Thank you. Great food - we stayed Bed, breakfast and evening meal and it was all very good - interesting to watch the 'open' kitchen. All portions were very generous - you won't go hungry here. Prices were decent Good amenities, pool table (away from the main dining area) Room was nice and comfortable - our only minor critique would be that it would be good to have a mini fridge in the very warm room for milk and cold drinks etc Sports bar belonging to the same company a couple of doors down, with big screen sports, pool, darts etc - all very friendly too It's quite a walk in to St Ives, and quite a hike if you take, as we did, the coastal path, so ensure that you're wearing appropriate footwear, it took us a leisurely 40 minutes. We got a bus back, that dropped us right outside the hotel - still managed over 14,000 steps though! We'd definitely stay here again if in the area
Lovely location and close to a supermarket by car and carbis bay beach. Only 3 mins in car to the CBay Spa at carbis bay hotel and beautiful beach. There are two parts to The Gannet Inn while staying, and we stayed in the ‘Main house’. We were very kindly upgraded to a family room called ‘Dillisk’. It was lovely peaceful and cosy but not cramped. Very clean. We had a two course dinner in the evening and breakfast the next day. The food was INCREDIBLE. My boyfriend is a chef and said his dinner Pork Belly Porchetta was one of the best dishes he has ever had. My gnocchi as a vegetarian was also fantastic, especially as often when at hotels i find that the vegetarian dishes aren’t considered important. The flavours were beautiful. All the staff were friendly and welcoming . But an extra special mention to Jay on reception when we arrived. She was so kind, and particular a statement she said to me was something i needed to hear at the time. She will not have known that at the time :) The Gannet has a plush and sophisticated feel while also relaxed and laid back. We will definitely be rerunning! The CBay was free to use with out booking, our to 4 hours. Very nice, but is all outside so would check the weather before. Stunning veiw of the bay.
Friendly staff and great food . Room and facilities great too
Lovely staff, quality food and comfortable beds. Great value and well positioned hotel for Carbis Bay beach and walking into St Ives. There is a relaxed atmosphere and a sense thatnothing is too much trouble for staff.
I recently stayed with my Mum and Auntie at the Gannet inn hotel. The staff were truly exceptional — warm, friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Special mention to Helen and team, who literally went above and beyond. We cannot thank you enough. The rooms were lovely — stylish, comfortable, and felt both luxurious and relaxing. The beds were unbelievably comfortable and didn’t want to leave in the them in the morning. The food was simply amazing. Every meal was beautifully presented and full of flavour, clearly prepared with care and quality ingredients. Dining there was a highlight of the stay. We also had the use of Carbis bay Spa, the views from the swimming pool were fantastic looking over the bay. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Gannet Inn to anyone visiting Carbis Bay. A fantastic hotel with outstanding service, gorgeous rooms, and incredible food — we can’t wait to return!
We have just returned from our 2 night gourmet break at The Gannet as a celebration for my husband’s 60th birthday. We very much enjoyed our stay, grateful for a room upgrade which had a sea view. The bed and furnishings were of high quality, with in room tea making facilities. Our deal included dinner at The Gannet on day one and then at Walter’s by the beach (Carbis Bay resort) on day two. Both meals were delicious and of high standard. If you have a big appetite be warned that portion sizes are small - so think quality over quantity. Staff at both The Gannet and Walter’s were very friendly and professional. Our deal included use of the spa facilities at Carbis Bay Hotel - a perfect way to end our stay. The walk to the Carbis Bay hotel is just 10 mins (going down) but it’s at the bottom of a VERY steep hill, so be prepared for a hike back up or order a taxi! Would recommend The Gannet to friends and family.
Fantastic overnight stay with a superb restaurant meal and breakfast the next morning, absolute class for a smaller hotel. The quality of the food and service was exceptional.
Food was excellent
We are both pensioners and our room was on the top floor up 3 flights of stairs, there is no lift but we were there for only two days so lived with it. Room had no storage for underwear, socks etc., wardrobe was noisy to open and close .
The staff are friendly, enthusiastic & willing to help. They were a pleasure to interact with during our stay.
Although the prepared breakfasts were fine, attention could be focused to provide on a self service side table an array of cheeses, fruit and cereal. This would give visitors more choice & variety.
We arrived and the room was not up to standard, not as clean as expected and on a very busy road which was noisy with windows open. The receptionist was very warm, friendly and helpful and did everything she could to accommodate us moving to another hotel. She was definitely the best part of the hotel.
Cleanliness was poor, noisy room, room felt tired. Feel that the accommodation was not described correctly.
friendly reception staff
frosted windows in the room I had
Breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. A great hotel stay and will come again.
Having to ask for milk- it would be good to have it in a cold flask so it lasts longer.
The bed was very comfortable, with a good amount of amenities.
Our room was directly above the sports bar, so we were sleep late at night, whenever the patrons below us decided to turn down the volume.
On my previous visit, I happened to remark almost in passing upon the absence of USB plug sockets, and also suggested that a small mirror might be most useful, with one side offering gentle magnification and the other remaining true and normal. I was therefore quite delighted, upon my return, to find that these very details had been thoughtfully addressed and installed, precisely as mentioned. It is a rare pleasure to feel so genuinely heard. What charmed me just as much, if not more, was the small sign placed outside to reserve a space especially for me. Such a gesture may seem modest, but it speaks volumes. It is considerate, personal, and deeply attractive in its attention to detail exactly the sort of quiet thoughtfulness that distinguishes the merely good from the truly exceptional. One leaves with the distinct impression not simply of being accommodated, but of being valued.
There is, quite frankly, nothing about this property that I find myself disliking. If I were pressed to offer the faintest suggestion for the future, it would be the possible addition of a steam room within the spa, and perhaps the inclusion of dressing tables in every room pieces that double rather splendidly as desks, and which a few rooms were without. Beyond such trifles, I can find little cause for complaint. It has been a thoroughly excellent day, and truth be told, that very absence of grievances is precisely why I continue to return.
The Gannet hotel is incredible. Nicely decorated, amazing friendly staff and fantastic food. We stayed for three nights and had use of the Spa facilities at the Carbys Bay Hotel and couldn't fault any of it. Would highly recommend and definitely looking forward to returning.
Birthday Lunch for Hubby. Hubby had the Duck and I had the Smashed Burger. Both were excellent, Hubby had chocolate lava cake for dessert , I had the black cherry trifle. Hubby sad lava cake was good but small, unfortunately the black cherry trifle wasn’t really a trifle , it was jelly with sponge fingers, covered with a thick chocolate mousse / ganache and then some cream on top. Will return but maybe miss our dessert . Staff were lovely .
LOVED THE FACT THAT AS THE GANNET IS JOINED WITH THE CARBIS BAY, WE WERE ABLE TO USE THE SPA FACILITIES FOR NO ADDED COST.
We arrived with high expectations on the basis that The Gannet was part of the Carbis Bay Resort which housed the G& leaders about 4 years ago. The web site states it is "nestled" in the heart of the village. Nothing could be further from reality, Arriving at a gloomy drab grey building besides a very busy main road, the exterior conjures up the image of an old fashioned boarding house. As for "nestled " in the heart of the village, it's not. It is 3/4 of a mile down a very steep hill (that's after you negotiate the busy road (no way you would let your kids try crossing on their own) and its a real trudge back up, so if you forgot your ear pods, forget going back to retrieve them ! The web site states a "short valley walk from the award-winning Blue Flag Carbis Bay Beach" . There is nothing short about it and its through a load of uninspiring suburban houses.
Had dinner at The Gannet. Been here a few times and stayed but we were just eating this time with friends. The staff are so efficient and so friendly, greet you like family. Jay on reception always so helpful. Waiting staff always happy and do their jobs so well. The food is a fantastic treat. Extensive choice and tastes superb. Fabulous time.
We stayed for 2 nights on an offer to stay and dine. Totally exceeded all our expectations. Rooms were spacious good bathroom. Great restaurant area and bar seating with wood burner. Every staff member was polite friendly and professional
We have just had a lovely family half term stay at The Gannet - has become a firm favourite with the added bonus of using the Spa at Carbis Bay. We were very lucky with gorgeous, sunny Autumn weather and made the most of it down at the beach - the setting is beautiful. Always a warm welcome at The Gannet. The location is great for access to St Ives (we like to take the train from the station just a short walk away down a fairly steep hill), the decor is cozy, the food was delicious and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Thanks for having us 🙂
My husband and myself went for sunday lunch today and were very disappointed. I'm so sad to say this as I really wanted to love it ,as we are local I would of become our go to place. We were kept a while for our table which would of been OK if that was all, but our plates and food bar the cauliflower cheese was stone cold. Not once did anyone come and ask if everything was OK so couldn't ask for it to be warmed up. There was approx 20 tables and 4 waitresses not over busy. On paying without offered a pudding I mentioned the cold food was as if fridge cold, to be told quite abruptly "well I can assure you it wasnt", I tried to say i didn't say it was from the fridge to have her turn her back on me. Shame the food was lovely if only hot. Honestly disappointed and made to feel immediately ignored , if it wasn't for this I would of been a regular. ☹️
Exceptional food and excellent attention from the helpful staff.
My wife and I celebrated our 55th (Emerald) wedding anniversary at the Gannet in September. The staff were extremely helpful and very welcoming to us, the rooms were perfect and lovely, and the facilities were excellent. We had use of the pool area and spa at the sister Carbis Bay Hotel, plus afternoon tea there, which was suitably luxurious. All of the staff at the Gannet were friendly, courteous, and helpful throughout our stay, and we fully recommend the hotel.
Property, location, parking, staff
Restaurant - quality variable. Breakfasts great. Sunday evening meal excellent. Monday evening meal - one meal OK, one meal sent back twice and then replaced with an alternative.
Schöne Zimmer, freundliches Personal, tolles Restaurant.
We had a nice stay at the Gannet inn. The staff were exceptional, every single member of staff we came across was so friendly and helpful, it really made our stay. There is a few negatives, I booked a sea view room (which wasn't cheap) and the room was very small for the amount that I paid and did look like it needed a little TLC, it is an old building so i know there is only so much you can do but when you pay more you expect more. We had dinner at the hotel and I had the chicken kiev which was really yummy and my husband had fish and chips which was ok. The breakfast again was ok but nothing to write home about, the fry up was quite a small portion and the french toast wasn't sweet enough, the fruit on top were so sour. It was lovely to be able to use the spa at the Carbis bay hotel that really made the stay.
Het was comfortabel, gezellig en beneden kon je lekker eten.
Het land ligt aan een wat drukke weg.
The room had a lovely view and was very clean and tidy.
Walls/ doors have insufficient sound proofing as we could very clearly hear someone else on the floor snoring quite loudly.
We have eaten here several times when visiting the area and it’s never disappointed. The service the food and the atmosphere is everything you would want from a restaurant.
Enjoyed our stay staff were very knowledgeable and very nice nothing was too much trouble.
No lifts and no fridge in bedroom had to ask for milk each day but that was no bother really.
Staff very friendly and good location, short walk ( but challenging if mobility an issue) to beach. We were very lucky and saw dolphins swimming close to shore.
Rooms in two separate buildings. Room was nice but as described “cosy” and no view, near the toilets so noisy, could hear fan/dryer. Hot water tap didn’t work on sink in bathroom ( meagre dribble) which otherwise was nice with nice towels and toiletries. Given the price thought quite expensive for the standard of accommodation. Food and drinks more expensive than we expected. Food, dinner and breakfast was of average quality in our opinion.
The food at the Gannet was excellent. The breakfast included is fantastic with so many options and something delicious to try everyday - great value for money. The inn itself is really pretty inside and furnished wonderfully. Super comfy beds and pillows, and lovely little biscuits in the room alongside a variety of tea’s. The staff were so warm and helpful. Sitting in the bar area at night was really cosy, with delicious cocktails and a range of board games. And having daily free access to the CBay spa is a MASSIVE addition. Absolutely don’t miss out on that! We already intend to stay here again, and again… It was the perfect cosy stay by the beach with a partner.
Our room was a little on the small side, particularly the floor space around the bed and bathroom. The bathroom/shower doors hit each other and the sink if not opened/manoeuvred very carefully and there’s only room for 1 person to be moving around the space at a time. The room was quite hot, but they did provide a fan (a little on the loud side but we had ear plugs!). However, for a couple like us, this was still absolutely fine and didn’t detract from the stay - we would potentially just upgrade in future!
The food was excellent, beds very comfortable and the staff friendly and attentive. We also liked being outside of St Ives but with several quick and easy options to get there.
No negatives that I can think of.
Freundlicher Empfang mit Rundgang. Alles sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Aufmerksame Bedienung. Essen was sehr gut. Hotelzimmer mit WOW-Effekt, sogar von der Toilette aus ist Meerblick garantiert.
Friendly and helpful staff. Really great location. Good breakfast
Amazing sized room with sea view called the gannet. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was high quality and delicious with great coffee and the bar area looked lovely. The complementary access to carbis bay spa was great we only booked after we arrived and went the morning we checked out.
Nothing parking limited but we got a spot!
