There was no breakfast. Front counter and cleaning staff, a 10 I would have rated everything a 10, but when I called there I asked for a view so I could get an early morning pic of the mountains. The person I spoke to said should be no problem. The room I got was next to a dirty building. No view what so ever. I arrived a bit early and thought for sure I’d get my request, he said no they are all taken. When I get a decent pic I take it home and paint it, as a memory of the trip. I love painting.
See above
The location but that’s about it.
2 flights of stairs to lug luggage up with no offer of help. No attention to detail. Just ok , pillows bad , bed comfortable.
Central.
A bit quirky. But nothing really wrong with it. Maybe just slightly overpriced for what it was. But really no complaints.
Location...easy of check in, bed comfortable.
Carpet probably needs to be replaced, seemed old.
Location
It was stated on bookings.com there was a breakfast, but there wasn’t
Loved to old building! Loved the history. The neighborhood is fantastic. Loved the hospitality room and the kitchettes
Little kitchen, cold water in ice machine area, apps to use on TV . Old rustic look with upgrades to building.
Pillows too soft and bed moved around the floor .
Location
How rude the staff was. The floor was sunken and can roll a ball across the room The bathroom was filthy. Other people’s hair left in the tub. The tub floor was spongy underneath
Close walking distance to coffee shops/restaurants. The bed was very comfortable
Location
Older, felt rundown
Clean modern updated room with large king bed and nice bathroom
No fault of hotel but unfortunately bar restaurant attached to building was closed due to holiday
Newly remodeled. Clean and friendly help. Convenient to downtown and tge parks.
No elevator, but new that before we went.
Decent bed and at least the room was clean
Overrated very basic room, other guests opened our door a half hour after we checked in, no glasses in the room and none to be had, older "tired" basic furnishings with 1 small table and chair, locked out after 10 pm and after hours service was to leave a voice-mail, cleaning staff barged in the next morning even though the DND sign was out and we were still there!
Perfect location, cool historical vibe.
Nothing issues. There’s no elevator but not an issue for us.
The charm
The cleanliness of the room
The room was not clean
I loved this little hotel! Staff were amazing, and the accommodations were comfortable. I would definitely stay again.
Centrally located. Old historic hotel. Restaurants located close by friendly service. Available free parking. The rooms were very comfortable and decorated tastefully.
The USB-C connecter did not work.
The property was in a good location downtown.
The hotel is above a bar so be prepared to be woken up when the bar lets out in the middle of the night. You also hear the beep of the crosswalk all night long. Although the room had been newly renovated there was a definite slant in several spots on the floor. There was also a problem with our booking reservation and they tried to charge us again.
Kept awake in the middle of the night by singing fighting and attempts to force entry into the hotel . No response from the hotel/staff. Unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Location
There is a bar right behind the hotel. The music went til well after 3am…we didn’t sleep either night. Left feeling like we needed another vacation instead of the restful vacation we were looking for.
Comfortable boutique hotel, bed was great, loved the confort and feel of the sheets and pillows. Bar right downstairs for food and drink!!!
I had to park my bike out of of my sight...
Dommage
Clean room, friendly staff. Great bar/restaurant. Great food, would be great if restaurant offered breakfast
There was no breakfast. Our room had a kitchen in it (no stove), but there was a burner so we could eat in. This is an old building, originally constructed in the 1920s. They have added charming touches of decor in the main lobby and hallways to reflect that, but the rooms have been renovated and are great. The bathroom was large and had a soaker/jet tub. That was an unexpected luxury.
My only criticism was that the room could use a few more plugs for the electronics we all carry around.
Beautiful hotel in fantastic location. The hotel itself is nice, rooms are beautiful and it’s very clean.
Parking is off on the side on an unpaved lot. No lift, so be prepared.
We used to like coming here but the cleanness of suite has gone downhill. Musty smell, bed packed out. We were in suite on 2nd floor and bad noise transfer from upstairs people walking. Definitely stay on 3rd floor. It is an older historic building which we used to enjoy but needs updating and better cleaning.
History! Close to what I needed it for
👍nothing
Convenient location. Helpful staff
Room I was allocated was comfortable, good bed, good shower , but needed some tlc. A broken window, very poor lighting. No proper bedside lighting. Strange furnishings. My booking had to be changed at the last minute so I think I had to be allocated an older room. If it had been my first time at the hotel I wouldn’t have been impressed and probably wouldn’t have returned
Lovely historic hotel in downtown Cranbrook! Great sized room and kitchenette. Loved the walk-in shower!
Would have been 10/10 with a breakfast included on the restaurant downstairs. As mentioned before, steep stairs - but with a good handrail!
Restaurants in area are great, hideout has great food
Staff and general ambience of the hotel
Room was not great. Uncomfortable bed. Flushing from surrounding rooms was not subtle, tub bottom was not nice to look at so I skipped having a shower. I slept and got up at 7 am and left.
Location is good.
No lift. Stairs narrow. No restuarant.
The room was spacious and clean with an en-suite bathroom. Facilities in the room included a coffee maker. Attached to the hotel is a bar where we went for a drink and the service was good and the server was very friendly. Although food is served in the bar we chose to eat elsewhere (no particular reason) and there was plenty of choice within walking distance.
Nothing to dislike.
Clean and updated but classic vibe
TV was big but no option for streaming service or movies. Minor issue
Property was excellently kept for an older building, Everything was very well maintained and modernized! Close to any historical sites and excellent little coffee shop named “Grounds” just across the street!
Very limited parking at only 13 spots for a hotel that seems to show it has occupancy of 53.
Location, exceptional staff, and free parking!
No view from the window; looked directly at the wall of the next building.
The young lady that checked me in was beyond awesome. She even ventured outside with me to explain the parking lot. Loved her smile and kind professional representation of this hotel. Loved the decor and ambience of the place.
No light in the big lovely very dark shower....
Location was excellent, room was comfortable with a very nice bathroom
View from window was of a brick wall
The location was.great, downtown, where it was is much quieter than on the highway. The extras in the room like the fridge was excellent.
The couch in front of the tv was a little uncomfortable and there were no drawers to put away clothes.
Lovely room, friendly staff and central location
Everything about this hotel is quality not quantity. Really nice attention to detail such as body wash and shampoo in large pump bottles, walk in shower and very comfortable bed. I haven’t slept that well in a long time. Oh and the manager/reception folks were super friendly.
Really nothing not to like.
Great location, amazing staff, very clean , comfortable beds

Noisy pub revellers on closing time, outlook from bedroom
Room was clean and comfortable. Overall good value for the room itself.
Poor parking with no security, no pavement, half a block away from the hotel and a long walk. No elevator! Second floor was 20 steep stairs up and down. Bringing stuff from the vehicle a half a block across the street and hauling everything up and down the stairs was a big negative for most older folks like myself who is 70+ with artificial knees and an artificial ankle. Good thing I was on the second floor and not the third floor! Seniors stay away!!
Great location, great room!
Didn’t affect me but no elevator isn’t great for accessibility. Very steep stairs.
Downtown away from hi way noise.
No elevator. For seniors being put on the third floor was difficult.
We loved the vibe of the old brick hotel and the art deco design was so fun. The room was big and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Wish we could have stayed another night.
Friendly staff and the room was very comfortable.
The fact that there was no elevator and I was not made aware of that until after my booking was paid for There was only limited parking for guests so if you didn't get a spot first you had to pay to park on the street.
The pub had deli’s food service was great. Walking distance to shops.parking was good.
I wasn’t aware that there was no elevator. My sister is mobility challenged and it was challenging getting her up,and down the stairs. The staff were extremely accommodation and gave us the most convenient room possible and helped with our luggage.
Location location. Classic, upgraded old school hotel
Great location, easy to find. Nice walking and easy parking. Room was clean and comfortable.
Clean and comfortable conveniently located
No elevator and rooms are upstairs so not for everyone
Location was great!! We were greeted and treated so well by staff…very friendly!
The steps
Architectural style. Room facilities (suite). Central location.pleasant enough for 1-2 nights.
The bed was extremely uncomfortable and sagging.
The bed was comfortable. convenient location
No elevator. I've been suffering severe knee pain and could barely make it up the stairs to the third floor. Staff at the counter did take my suitcase up the stairs up on arrival but was not at work yet when I left in the morning
Down town
Nothing
Bed en badkamer waren prima.
Heel erg gehorig helaas.
Wir hatten Glück während unserer Rundreise gerade zum Spirit of the Rockies Festival da zu sein und haben die Parade miterleben und genießen dürfen. Respekt!
Location and ambience.
No elevator. No breakfast.
Fantastic facilities. Very well done and extremely clean

Rajan was very kind, communicating with us and waiting for our arrival. I would definitely recommend and stay here again when we are back.
Location was great, the rooms were clean and some were recently upgraded. The staff was very accommodating as we were there on a family emergency and they went out of their way to accommodate us. Thanks again.
It was warm, air conditioner could have been cooler but it did work a bit.
Unique building and a good central location!
Other guests were very noisy. Main AC Unit was outside room and ran on & off all night. Room AC ran too high/noisy to gave on at night, so room (#314) was hot & stuffy
Very nice,updated room
No elevator
Nice renovation
Steep stairs to the rooms. No elevator.
We like trying local, heritage buildings. This one was a bit pricy. Check-in was fabulous (limited times allowed). Parking in the area is good.
We were there for two nights. We did not need a complete room clean after one night. I put out the tag for a 'refresh' and no one came that day. We needed towels. At 10 pm we returned and our room had not been refreshed. The front desk is not open for many hours. I left a note and wandered around. However, they must have cameras because a man appeared wondering what I was doing. I asked for towels and he got some for me.
The room had well stocked kitchenette with coffee machine and big fridge Bathroom with big bathtub Laundrette on the same floor Very nice and friendly staff
No elevator, noisy aircon, no designated parking space in front of the hotel to offload the luggage A bit outdated but definitively with charm and character
The location was central, and very close to where I was working. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchenette was convenient.
Maybe a note in the bathroom to remind guests to put the shower curtain inside the claw-foot tub before showering would be helpful. I forgot and got water all over the floor. Oops!
Staff
Could have been a little cleaner
I found the room to be warmer than I typically like.
The old hotel definitely has charm and has been tastefully renovated.
I found the building to be noisy. Not from outside traffic, but from people walking and talking in the hallways. There seemed to be a lot of mechanical noises throughout the night as well. I booked an executive suite and was disappointed to say the least considering the rate. I had a fantastic view of a brick wall and a flock of pigeons. The bed on the other hand was quite comfortable and the bathroom was nicely renovated. As well, the staff that I encountered were fantastic and very friendly. Given the age of the building, I suppose one can only expect so much. I guess for almost $200 after taxes for 1 night, I expected more.
It had some charm, the art deco theme was nice.
Getting a little worn around the edges.
Hidden gem
Parking
The vintage and the P2P factor. (Proximity to Pub)
Comfortable hotel in a good location.
Nothing
It was close to a doctor's appointment I had and it was old...Loved it!
The stairs...but I booked to late to get a main floor room.
Historical building.and very nice room.

Staff was friendly and very helpful. Newly renovated room looks great and bed was comfortable. Good overnight travel stop in a heritage building
Guests should be aware no elevator so luggage must be carried up stairs. A simple guest directory page would be helpful to explain various remote functions for air conditioning etc. Non functioning jacuzzi tub should have signage to indicate that - was a nice surprise to see it but then disappointing to find out later it could be used.
Heritage hotel
Street facing room very noisy. Not particularly nice furniture pictures etc. Quite ordinary.
Stayed in a lot of places in Cranbrook, finally got to this hotel! It was great! Rooms were very nice, bedding comfy, staff uber friendly. Over all we would stay again for sure.
Things to keep in mind are limited parking, bar under some rooms (we had no noise issues early in the week) and no elevator, so not disability friendly.
We liked the antique charm. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean.
Our room was at the front corner of the hotel and so we heard the people out talking late into the night. Also the floor was not level and slanted significantly. And the bathtub looked very dirty, stained. When we asked if we could have a different room we were told there was availability, but then she had to talk to her manager because the system wouldn't let her put us in the other room. She said she would let us know. We were gone for the day. When we returned that girl was gone and another girl looked and couldn't find any notes about it. So we had to start over. It turns out not much was available because we booked on booking.com. Good to know.. She did get us into a much better room.
We love to stay at the Baker Hotel when we come to Cranbrook because the rooms are uniquely designed and spacious and it is fun being in the heart of downtown Cranbrook. Our room had a kitchen which can really come in handy when staying multiple nights.
Clean and organized rooms and common areas. Looks newly renovated.
Hotel parking lot was full, I had to park on the street.
The area
No elevator. Had a jucuzzi tub- no instructions on how to work it.

What guests love
Areas to consider
Cleanliness
9/10Multiple reviewers praised the hotel as very clean and well maintained ("very clean", "clean and updated", "everything very well maintained"); a few noted minor bathroom issues (tub bottom, dark shower) but overall cleanliness is strong.
Service
9.3/10Service is frequently highlighted as a strength: staff described as exceptional, super friendly and professional (check-in staff praised, manager/reception positive, friendly bar server).
Location
9.2/10Location is consistently praised: central/downtown, close to historic sites and restaurants, within walking distance to many options; a few rooms have poor external views but location itself is excellent.
Room Quality
8.2/10Rooms are often described as spacious, comfortable and nicely updated, but there are mixed notes: at least one reviewer had an uncomfortable bed, some rooms lack storage or comfortable seating, and some bathrooms/showers had issues (dark, unattractive tub).
Amenities
7.5/10Amenities are mixed: in-room extras (coffee maker, fridge, quality toiletries) are positive, but limited parking (few spots, poor/unsecured parking) and no elevator are clear negatives; TV streaming options are lacking.
Value for Money
8.4/10Several guests noted good value for the room itself and comfortable beds; concerns about parking logistics and lack of an elevator can reduce perceived value for some (especially seniors).
Food and Beverage
7.8/10Food & beverage is limited: there is an attached bar with good service but no on-site restaurant for some guests; nearby dining options are plentiful. Occasional noise from late-night pub revellers was reported.
Overall Experience
9.4/10Overall sentiment is very positive: many guests report excellent stays, restful sleep, friendly staff and a charming, well-kept historic property with modern updates despite a few practical drawbacks (parking, elevator, some room quirks).
