A bit inconvenient as front desk is at other building, and found no one at the main location. Overall the place is decorated classic style and with very nice and clean room. But no elevators
Stunning and very comfortable!
No food facilities in the hotel.
Good stay
the only good thing about this property is the location. The pitcure you are looking at right now is very misleading. The room is the size of a small utility closet. There wasn't even enough space in there to swing my GODDAMN DICK AROUND!!
The price of the room in relation to the size. They wouldn't make up my bed because my bag was on it because there was NO ROOM FOR MY BAG!!!
Very nice hotel in the top center of the village
A typical tourist hotel. Nothing special good or bad
A boutique hotel located downtown. Large and clean bedroom n modern bathroom. The only negative aspect is there is no elevator.
Check in was very smooth and the fellow at the desk was very friendly . This is the smallest hotel room I have ever been in though , maybe 30” around the bed on all sides , no where to put suitcases or bags but on the floor by the door . Bathroom is nice and the room has a fridge .
clean and quite
Great place to stay and get your sour toe certificate.
Property has a complimentary shuttle that will take you to/from the airport. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and comfortable. Unlike during previous occasions when I'd stayed, there was a bar/club on the main floor that offered karaoke, and other offerings from Thursday through Saturday. I wasn't advised until check in that my room was directly above the "action;" at $250 per night, I feel this should be disclosed at the time of booking. Also, unlike last year when the venue served fancy cocktails during Gold Show weekend, this year the place felt like a slapdash affair, put together at the last minute. The food at the Sourdough Saloon next door was also disappointing.
The rooms are nice. But, you have to check in around the corner. A hassle for a motorcycle traveler in all his gear. There was loud music until 2am. The “front desk” warned me when I checked in. Maybe put it in the listing rather than at ckeck-in time? The lobby is nice, but only a water jug. For the price, I would look elsewhere first.
Cute and clean
Room was over the karaoke that went on until 3:00am. How can you even be okay having someone stay in that room?? The speaker on the tv was also broken.
We liked the quaint hotel. It is decorated to the historic times with a modern twist for your comfort. Loved the robes. The bed was extremely comfortable.. we would book here again.
The rooms are recently renovated, clean and modern which is unique in a hotel with the history that this hotel had. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is positioned in a great spot for exploring downtown Dawson City.
Excellent front desk service, accommodating and friendly. Great service in the attached restaurant
The hotel was unassuming from the outside but super cool and nostalgic inside. Our room was a king suite with a great view of the goings on in Dawson -the bed was very comfortable. There were no staff onsite and checkin was at the soster hotel Downtown. Staff there were awesome and accommodating. Lounge was not open but a cash only chinese food restaurant down stairs was open.
We were greeted by the friendly Jeffrey at the front desk, he was very helpful and efficiently booked an extra day that we requested. More importantly, he assisted us with our luggages, he gave resto and shopping recommendations, too! Overall, it was an amazing trip made even better by Midnight Sun Hotel! Special thanks to Jeffrey!
Nice (but small) rooms and beautifully recreated common area resembling a wild West setting. Unfortunately, there are no services whatsoever in the hotel, so it is completely dead in that beautifully decorated common area. All service, including the lobby at which one must check in, are next door at the Downtown Hotel.
Upscale hotel in a rustic town
Big tricky to check in and no laundry in hotel so had to use sister hotel. Could hear noise from club downstairs but not too bad
Super nettes personal
Nebengebäude
Very cool ambiance. A tiny pain that the front desk is located in another building behind the Midnight Sun. Love that the shuttle is available for airport pickup and drop off.
Nothing about the hotel is wrong, nor the staff. But if you’re staying here over the weekend you must know that you will not sleep. There is a karaoke bar right below you that goes from 9pm-2am and your whole room will shake and vibrate and you’ll hear everything. We suffered the first night but the second night after being awoken multiple times we called the front desk and had to be moved to their sister building. They were professional and understanding and provided us a refund for one night. That being said I wouldn’t recommend staying here but perhaps look into the sister accommodation.
Rooms too small. Too much noise at night until 2.00 am.
A very pleasant stay.
Definitely not worth the price. Positive: bed comfortable, Areas for improvement: small, crowded room. No mention in the listing about loud music from the lounge playing into the night. Very little sleep as a result. Room has musty odour, hairball stuck on towels. Dust on furniture. Would not stay here again.
All good except for having a room over the lounge on Thursday and Friday nights….very, very loud. Be warned if you want to sleep here. It may have been mentioned when we booked, I don’t know, but we were not careful enough. There are many other accommodation options here, don’t be deceived by the Coast chain affiliation. The music continues until 2 am.
It was better than expected. The entrance an halls are amazing. The room was super clean tidy. I would stay agin without hesitation.
It’s a hotel in Dawson
Lovely room, walking distance to everything. Lobby had great charm.
Nothing
Location in middle of city, walkable to all historic sites to see.
Very nice. The bed is very comfortable. They advertise a restaurant but the only restaurant isn’t the sourdough saloon. Not in the complex. No elevators or porters to bring luggage in. Plus you need to register at the main downtown hotel complex to get an access key. Do that before pulling up to the midnight sun hotel. Nothing is very far. The Francis bar lounge is under the rooms but it does not impede sleep. Comfortable and clean but has a musty smell. Very cool experience. Nothing that should stop anyone from visiting. Just to be aware. The rooms are very bright during the night even with the blinds drawn.
Had a good night in there place
Old Dawson building 🙂
Was a great place to stay after travelling to Tuktoyaktuk by motorcycle.
The Midnight Sun is a kitschy (foyer) elderly hotel where we were first booked. Because we were staying over the weekend, the SIMPLY AMAZING front desk clerk, Joffrey (sp?), graciously moved us to the sister hotel, The Downtown. Not as kitschy, just as clean. Furnishings in both were sparse and tired, but the cleanliness (and comfort of the beds) were top-notch. Joffrey tipped the scales though… over and above in friendliness, professionalism and efficiency.
Shower,WiFi and bed are good.
Party downstairs very loud no breakfast included Lost power electricity once
Staff was very friendly & helpful. Moved us to a quieter building prior to check in. Thank you! Good coffee - nice place.
This property was amazing. Best location. Rooms were all updated and the AC was great (it was a scorcher out, so we really appreciated this) the best part was the front desk and their customer service skills. We were truly looked after and cared for.
Staff was helpful and friendly. Room updated nicely with all the comforts. Easy to walk anywhere in town. Somewhat over priced.
At check in they informed us that the lobby music was really loud till 2 am . And it was true. We changed hotels after 1 night. They should put that on the web site. Then no one would stay there. It’s was disappointing as the rooms were nice
The positives: -The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable, but very soft. Nice bathroom products provided. The shower water pressure was crazy good, so much so that the tub drain couldn't keep up! A mini-fridge and coffee/tea are provided. The location is great. You can walk to almost everything Dawson has to offer. The interior of the building is lovely and does feel like you walked back in time. Check in is at the Downtown Hotel, just around the corner. It was easy enough. Never saw a staff member after checking in. The building is secure with room card access only for all the doors. All the rooms require carrying your bags up at least one flight of stairs. The A/C worked well. It's a bit rare to have in Dawson! The major negative: The noise! The walls between the rooms are paper thin. We could hear every word, cough, sneeze, the television etc. from the next room. Thursday to Saturday the Midnight Sun Lounge is open with very loud music, karaoke blasting from early until 2am. No chance of decent sleep, especially in a first floor room. It was slightly muffled on the second floor. It would be quieter during the week. I wouldn't stay here again on a weekend.
The inside of this hotel is in
This unique hotel is as described, a personality all its own. An old building with a history to discover,I will leave that to you to discover. A well restored main floor to reflect the old flavor, look at the ceiling. A small kitchen area with a microwave and a fridge for use of clients. A set of stairs to climb which takes you to a well restored second floor with secure access to your room. Room well appointed with 2 queen beds, a refrigerator, the usual coffee pot, and large screen t.v. which was the only drawback trying to figure out how that operated. Beds extremely comfortable and pillows you could lose yourself in. Bathoom well done and a shower head you would want to take home. Very quiet with no noise from other rooms or from outside. Room darrkening curtains as it seems it never gets dark in Dawson City. The location is such that it is within walking distance of everything One drawback is that there is no front desk to register at so you have to go to the sister property "The Downtown" a coast hotel located a small block away. All and all we had a wonderful stay and recommend it highly.
Room was nice. Had to check in at a different location. Our keys were deactivated after the first night we had to get them reactivated. No housekeeping which was OK but they didn’t even give us new coffee packets.
Staff were accommodating. There was a problem, and the staff were very good at addressing issue, so thanks for that.
Nothing.
Good location for this old town
Comfy bed and great linen. Loved the little touch of a comfy bathrobe and great bathroom fixtures.
Gives you the perfect experience of an historical town. Outside is what you expect of an old town, but the inside was very clean, updated unique to make you feel like you have traveled back in time. Quiet and very comfortable beds!
Beautifully renovated character property
Room was much smaller than what was represented in the pictures. The price unreasonable for room.
Beautiful rooms
New building, nice bathroom , option to use kitchen, pleasant check in, clean property.
Amazing four night stay! Beautiful location and updated nicely but still holds this timeless look. Will book again!
Rooms are a little small but plenty comfy Water pressure in shower was amazing plenty of tv options if you have accounts for service already
Loved my stay at the Midnite Sun!.The hotel is quite lovely and our room was very clean and well maintained. My only note would be that if you're looking for someplace quiet this may not be for you. We were entertained by all the people streaming in and out of the bars until all hours of the morning. I would stay here again for sure.
At first, we thought the Midnight Sun was good. Beds are super comfy, though the pillows were way too soft. However, our room did not have any hot water! When they couldn't fix the problem until after we were to check out in the morning, the hotel said they would give us a partial refund, but we had to process it through Expedia, which was a pain to get an answer from a real person! In the end, the hotel only refunded $22. It didn't seem enough for the hassle of getting the refund processed, and for 3 of us to have had to deal with freezing cold showers!
Very good service
The inner decoration attracted me, but the living experience is not very comfortable. The found insulation is awful that I can clearly hear every second word from my neighbour's room, and I guess so did they. There is an air-condition fan in the room, this is good, but the fan was put beside the head of the bead which is really noisy. We only stay here for one night, and then move to another hotel. Honestly, the room is nice but I couldn't sleep.
Was happy
We really like the unique interior design and the use of the Gold Rush decor Would be great if there was front desk staff on site,to greet guests.
What a great hotel. When you enter the lobby, it looked like an old hotel from the gold rush, but once you got to your room, it was clean and modern. So cool. The bed was very comfortable. We highly recommended this hotel.
Staff were very friendly and helpful rustic charm and historical
If you are looking for luxury in Dawson City - you won't really get it. But the Midnight Sun Hotel will offer clean, comfortable, warm rooms with an old world charm thrown in. The town by itself is tiny and any hotel you choose will be walkable to anywhere you need to go and this one ticks that box as well. The stairs are steep though and you need to be careful of that since you will need to haul your luggage up. All in all this hotel is a great place for a short stay and in any case you will want to spend most of your time outdoors in this beautiful little corner of the world, completely lost in time.
This is an old Hotel from the turn of the century but refurbished interior which is very nice and comfortable. I would recommend and stay there again.
What a lovely room! Super comfortable bed and pillows, nice facilities, easy check-in - almost perfect, except that they have Nespresso machines in the room rather than a regular coffee maker/kettle - as one of us drinks tea in the morning, and the other a large cup of coffee, that was disappointing, but definitely not a deal breaker. Check in is at the hotel around the corner - the Downtown Hotel (same company), and the room card opens the door to the lobby. Lovely seating area in the lobby/common area. We were only there for one night, and we arrived later in the evening so didn’t really get to enjoy what the hotel offers. It is central to the main attractions that you may want to do - Diamond Tooth Gertie’s and the Sourdough Saloon (which is actually in the hotel that you check into). 100% would recommend this to anyone.
Dawson city is unique. The hotel was clean and comfortable
Great location. Clean, quiet and comfortable hotel. A little bit of a hassle having to check into a different hotel for the key or ice or any issues, but that was fine as long as it wasn’t raining. No restaurant in the hotel but the upside was there weren’t a bunch of tourists.
Great location
The property was central within Dawson City. Guarantee Check in was 3. We arrived at 5 pm and our room wasn't ready, so the put us in a different room. I suspect a smaller room as it did not have the laptop desk as advertised. And the room was so small, there was no way they could fit a laptop desk and chair in the room. I brought this up at the front desk and someone was to connect with me and this didn't happen. We stayed two nights, and the cleaners did a very poor job cleaning our room. I think they only made our bed. Our coffee cups were not washed, etc.
All good.
Nice hotell, maybe best i town.!
Disappointed at check in to find no breakfast available at the sister hotel next door until August. Clean, pleasant room, kindly staff. Key card was "accidentally deleted" by receptionist one day and took some time to fix. Stayed 4 nights, but no hot water 3 days out of 4!!! Enough said. Not recommended.
Quick check in. Building does not look like much from the outside, but the lobby has been restored to look ok as if it stepped out of the late 1800s. The rooms are ultra modern and comfortable with all necessary amenities. Walking distance to all attractions and convenient parking right across the street. Highly recommend if visiting Dawson.
At first it seemed weird to not have a front desk at this hotel and instead have to use the front desk at neighbor hotel, but it ended up being just fine. The hotel was recently renovated and we were quite pleased overall.
Unique boutique hotel 👍
They were having issues with the outside door key and the female bartender in the hotel was extremely rude. Other than that it’s a good option for Dawson.
historical place
Very clean, comfortable bed, great staff. Updated. Great stay, I would recommend staying here!
I plan to return to the Midnight Sun.
The front desk staff was excellent. The cleaner did not change my sheets in 4 days( maybe I was supposed to ask her to?) She gave me a lot of towels.
I wasn’t sure at first… first impression and all. It does have a rustic look from the outside, and the main entrance is quite historic, but rooms are very nice and clean. It was great to have the sister hotel The Downtown right next door. Great food!! And we did the sour toe challenge! Within walking distance of everything. Great stay!!!
Nice surprise
Did not like the fact that the rooms are on the second floor and there is no elevator. Will need to pack lighter for the next visit.
Rooms were definitely nice, lobby unique and stunning. Check in was at a nearby hotel. Appreciated the hotel shuttle, although our group almost got bumped despite pre-booking it before our travels. It would have been nice to know, however, that our room was directly above the bar downstairs, which featured a karaoke night the second night of our stay. It was so loud we were able to sing along with each song, for 4 whole hours. Impossible to sleep before 11:30, so if quiet is your thing, this place isn’t for you. Lots of street noise/hallway noise as well.
The only thing I did not like was the lack of proper ventilation on the bathroom. Loved the Nespresso coffee, but it would have been better to include cream and sugar. Loved the lobby!
Place is nicely finished on the inside, downside there is a nice coffee maker but no sugar or creamer to go with it! Would have been nice to have complimentary water in the fridge considering the cost of hotel room was close to $300 and all stores etc in town are closed by 7pm!
This an old historical property. The room was small and clean. The only way to get fresh air into the rom was the AC unit as you could not open the window. The AC unit was very noisy every time it cut in which woke us throughout the night.
Excellent restoration malign this a very unique experience
Very clean and had the old prospector look of the early 1900’s
