Friendly and helpful staff. The location is great for visiting the Sassi and had a lot of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was delicious and offered some local food lile focaccia. The room was very comfortable.

L’hôtel est superbe, tout neuf et d’une propreté irréprochable. La salle de bains est particulièrement réussie, et la décoration, moderne et élégante, a su intelligemment mettre en valeur les anciennes citernes d’eau, si caractéristiques des habitations de Matera. Un très bel hommage à l’histoire du lieu, parfaitement intégré à une architecture contemporaine.

Le buffet du petit-déjeuner est malheureusement très limité, avec très peu de choix, aussi bien salés que sucrés. C’est assez surprenant au regard du standing de l’établissement et, surtout, du prix des chambres. J’hésite à employer le terme « médiocre », mais le petit-déjeuner est réellement très en deçà de ce que l’on est en droit d’attendre d’un hôtel de cette catégorie. Heureusement, il est possible de commander des œufs, même si, là encore, l’assiette servie est particulièrement minimaliste. Autre point décevant : le tarif du transfert entre le parking — lui-même payant — et l’hôtel, que je trouve disproportionné compte tenu de la très courte distance parcourue. J’ai également été très surprise d’apprendre qu’une simple couverture supplémentaire était facturée 10 €. Pris séparément, ces détails pourraient sembler anecdotiques. Mais leur accumulation finit par donner le sentiment que chaque service, chaque petite attention, est systématiquement monnayé. Dans un établissement où le prix de la chambre est déjà élevé, cela nuit malheureusement à l’expérience et au sentiment d’hospitalité que l’on attend d’un hôtel de ce standing. À force de tout facturer, on finit par se demander : où sont passés le sens de l’accueil et celui du service ?

The location , the style , very new. The instructions to car park was very clear and they organised our retn journey all very smooth.

Know they are a business but thought the request for late check out till 1pm( and extra 2 hours) at 120 euros to be very expensive. Also if they need any extras towels /duvets/ pillows it comes with a charge.

Das Pianelle Resort ist eine außergewöhnliche Unterkunft im wunderschönen Matera. Wir hatten einen der Cave Rooms und haben noch nie so viele Fotos von einem Hotelzimmer gemacht. Die Architektonik und Ausstattung waren wirklich besonders. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, 24 Stunden zu erreichen (auch per WhatsApp) und hat uns mit wertvollen Tipps für unseren Aufenthalt versorgt. Auch das Frühstück war qualitativ einwandfrei und bot eine gute Auswahl.

Das Hotel hat eine versehentliche Doppelbuchung bei zwei unterschiedlichen Anbietern mit den selben Daten der Reisenden im Vorfeld nicht bei uns abgefragt. Bei Ankunft wurden wir vom Rezeptionisten angelächelt und uns wurde mitgeteilt, dass wir doppelt gebucht haben. Sie hätten es bereits gewusst. Sie hätten uns darüber informieren müssen, aber nichts ist im Vorfeld passiert. Bei Abreise haben wir doppelt bezahlt. Das war reine Abzocke.

The hotel was excellent in terms of its location. It was a 5 minute walk on the road to the cathedral and close to restaurants ranging from the Michelin starred to bakeries. I was worried about steps in Matera as I am slightly blind so the fact that this hotel had very few steps was great. The room (quadruple room) was very big and comfortable. A special mention too for the receptionist, Paolo, who made us feel extremely welcome and gave us great recommendations for restaurants and guided tours.

A few more options for breakfast would be great.

O hotel tem uma localização soberba no Sassi Caveoso, combinando na perfeição a arquitectura histórica da zona com um toque moderno, arejado e de grande qualidade. O quarto era incrivelmente espaçoso e confortável, com uma casa de banho enorme, moderna e fantástica. Toda a equipa foi de uma atenção exemplar do início ao fim. O pequeno-almoço era muito bom e o terraço é verdadeiramente esplêndido, oferecendo uma vista privilegiada e inesquecível para a Igreja de Santa Maria d'Idris e a Praça de San Pietro Caveoso. Uma experiência perfeita!

Our stay at Pianelle Resort in Matera was absolutely amazing and was one of the highlights of our visit to Matera. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. After a long day of traveling, being greeted with an espresso and cappuccino was exactly what we needed and immediately set the tone for our stay. The service throughout our visit was warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. One of the most impressive things about Pianelle Resort is the hotel itself. Staying in an ancient building that has been carefully transformed into a modern luxury hotel is a unique experience. The renovation is exceptional—it is obvious that no expense was spared in preserving the character and history of the property while providing every modern comfort you could want. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and extremely comfortable. It had all the modern amenities you would expect from a luxury hotel, along with a surprisingly large bedroom and bathroom. Finding rooms with this much space can be difficult in Italy and throughout Europe, making our accommodations even more impressive. The rooftop bar at sunset is an absolute must. Sitting above Matera as the sun goes down and the historic city begins to light up is an unforgettable experience and a perfect way to end the day. The staff also made everything easy. They arranged parking and transportation from the parking garage to the hotel, which was extremely helpful when arriving in Matera. They also provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants and places to visit, helping us experience more of the city. We loved our stay at Pianelle Resort. The combination of history, modern luxury, outstanding service, and incredible location makes this a truly special hotel. If you are visiting Matera, Pianelle Resort is a must-stay.

Matera est une ville magnifique et l'hôtel a fortement contribué à nous la faire apprécier. Tout était parfait pour nous 4, depuis l'accueil de tout le personnel, la propreté irréprochable des chambres, la beauté de l'hôtel parfaitement intégré au cœur du village, jusqu'au petit déjeuner de très belle facture. Posto incantevole, immerso in un'atmosfera unica. Le camere, ricavate nella roccia, sono bellissime e molto caratteristiche. Lo staff è stato estremamente accogliente e sempre disponibile. Nel complesso un'ottima esperienza, con un eccellente rapporto qualità-prezzo. Consigliatissimo!

The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was really nice. The location is also amazing and the hotel has a rooftop bar only for its guests.

The air conditioning is very loud, we felt like we had construction works going on next to our room. It was also very intense and there was no night mode to select.

We had two rooms - in one of the rooms there was a little bit of moldy smell, I guess it’s because of those caves (beautiful) inside the room, underneath the floor that are not completely sealed.

Great location with super rooms inside caves, very cool in Materas stifling heat. Great facilities and staff were very helpful. Transport to and from the car park was a breeze too.

This Resort made our visit to Matera much more special. Matera was a real bucket list place to visit for us in Puglia. Hotel is so central located and has a such a great view over this old city.

It’s modern, beautiful, comfortable and so well appointed! The shower room is a real treat. The house keeping staff etc were all wonderful.

The advertisement on booking.com suggested we booked a “triple room” which was meant to be one double and one single bed. The hotel blamed booking.com and could not do anything for us the night we arrived (it was after 10pm). They said they would discuss with us the following day which they didn’t, given we only had one night left we didn’t approach them, but when I did mention it on check out I was told it was up to me to have followed the error up the day before, this put a slight blemish on an otherwise amazing stay.

Este hotel es simplemente encantador. Su arquitectura respeta y realza la esencia única de los Sassi de Matera, convirtiendo la estadía en una experiencia auténtica. La habitación fue espectacular, muy cómoda, con un baño precioso y excelentes acabados. El servicio fue inmejorable en todas las áreas: recepción, bar y desayunos. Todo el personal fue amable, atento y siempre dispuesto a ayudar, haciendo que nos sintiéramos muy bien atendidos durante toda la estancia. La ubicación es perfecta para recorrer a pie los Sassi y disfrutar plenamente de la ciudad. Además, el transporte desde el parqueadero fue muy fácil de coordinar y funcionó sin ningún inconveniente. Sin duda, un hotel totalmente recomendable al que volvería sin pensarlo.

I don't think you can get a better location than this! We could see the Church and Giant Rock-church right from our room. Also, they have a van that brings you from a secure parking garage about a 10 minute drive away right to the front door of the lobby. Materia is mostly stairs (not streets), so most places are much harder to get to with luggage. I am sensitive to dampness and was concerned that staying in a cave would not suit me, so we requested a room that was "higher up", and got a magnificent room that was in its own little structure above the level of the rest of most of their other rooms. While it had all the charm of being "old", it was renovated so perfectly that it was like new inside, plus, no musty smells, no dampness. The room was very large with a couch and fireplace that we did not need to use. Everything was spotless. The breakfast room was also clean (no musty smell even at the lower level). The breakfast was more than we expected (in qualify, quantity, and selection.) The staff were very helpful with making dinner reservations for us when we were having a hard time doing so ourselves.

The hotel is immaculately designed and staying in the cave rooms was a treat. The reception staff were warm and helpful. The location is right above the gorge at the bottom of the main road in the old city which means it is quiet without being inaccessible. Would happily recommend!

The cave-style room was unique and beautifully designed, and the location was excellent for exploring Matera. The historic setting made for a memorable stay.

The transfer service was significantly overpriced and the arrival process felt chaotic and poorly organized. Communication was lacking, and it did not reflect the standard expected for a hotel at this price point. The breakfast was mediocre at best, especially by Italian standards, with a limited selection and underwhelming quality. We also found the staff to be distant and not particularly welcoming, which made the overall experience feel less hospitable than expected.

From the moment Pianelle Resor arranges your parking and transportation directly to the Resort door you know the staying is going to be an experience. Beautifully decorated room not competing with the landscape itself (Matera main character), walking distance to the historic city main attractions, restaurants and shopping. Delicious breakfast with both savory and sweet delicacies, as well as eggs to order (important for us), both room and bathroom with excellent natural light and ventilation. We visited during Festa della Madonna della Brunna (Matera's main celebration) and were able to see the fireworks from our bed. The resort faces a canyon, so even during a hot wave we were able to feel breeze coming from this beautiful landscape.

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The rooms are incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully designed to blend in with the local environment. In our room, we were treated to a stunning, direct view of the grottoes right outside the window—absolutely unforgettable! My friends' room was equally impressive, featuring a unique and beautifully designed double bathroom that added a very chic touch to the stay. Breakfast was of exceptionally high quality. The restaurant staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, proactively asking if we would like freshly made fried eggs or other custom orders. Also, a special shout-out to their Italian cappuccino—it is absolutely delicious and a must-try for any coffee lover! Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, unique local charm, and great hospitality.

Geweldige locatie, zeer centraal. Parkeren plus shuttle service zeer soepel. Medewerkers heel vriendelijk en gastvrij. En vooral: prachtige kamer.

Ontbijt assortiment was een beetje beperkt. Althans, als je houdt van granen, noten, lekkere yoghurt en vers gesneden fruit. Maar ja, wie maalt daarom in zo’n prachtige locatie.

A beautifully designed modern hotel in the heart of the Sassi at Piazza San Pietro Caveoso. Wonderful cave room full of contemporary design ideas. All the important locations are within easy walking distance or by tuktuk if you prefer.

Ubicación, en todo el centro de Matera. Lugar inmejorable. La habitación muy bonita, no comparable con ningún otro lugar en el que haya estado por lo especial del sitio. La puntualidad del servicio de transporte contratado con el hotel hasta el parking. Amabilidad del personal.

Que la habitación fuera un poco más grande y tuviera ventanas con vistas a Matera.

L’hôtel est très bien situé, les chambres sont décorées avec beaucoup de finesse ! Attention pour les personnes un peu claustrophobes certaines chambres sont vraiment dans la roche et peuvent être oppressantes…

Le service de parking/navette est très cher et pas assez de choix au petit déjeuner…

Die zentrale Lage in den Sassi von Matera, das äußerst freundliche Personal und das tolle Frühstück sowie die Modernität der trationsbezogenen Zimmer. Auch der Transfer und das Parken im Santisodoro war problemlos. Wir können dieses Hotel uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

Wir hatten überhaupt nichts zu bemängeln und würden jederzeit wieder buchen.

Un lit qui grince dans un 4 étoiles ce n'est pas courant... Le roof top mis en avant par les photos n'était pas disponible, toutes les tables étaient bâchées. Surprenant lorsqu'on vous dit que l'hôtel est complet et que donc seule une partie de l'hôtel est accessible.

La ubicacion es la mejor, increible. Las habitaciones hermosas y el baño divino. Buen desayuno, buen bar. Matera es una ciudad increible y estar en un lugar tan estrategico es algo que vas a agradecer para moverte, ya que no es tan facil por las subidas y bajadas. Aca, abris la puerta de tu habitavion y estas en el centro del barrio de Sassi.

Obviamente no podes llegar con tu auto al hotel, debes dejarlo en un estacionamiento que ellos te ofrecen luego una combi del lugar te lleva. Tuvimos el problema que el parking que nos habian indicacdo estaba lleno por lo cual no se levantaba la barrera y no habia nadie para asistirnos. Nos mandabamos mensajes con la administracion pero las indicaciones eran confusas y mas si estas detenido en un lugar entorpeciendo el trafico. Tuvimos que dar varias vueltas, intentamos mas de una vez entrar al estacionamiento, hasta que alguien del ligar nos indico otra entrada a otro piso donde todavia habia lugar. Mas alla de ese engorro, el resto espectacular. Alojense aca.

Der Frühstücksraum ist bemüht, das Frühstück auch. Ein klassisches Hotel, wo man nur einen Tag bleibt.

Das Hotel per se ist gut und liegt ausgezeichnet, profitiert halt davon, dass man in diesem Ort eine Nacht bleiben muss, um die ganze Schönheit und Einzigartigkeit dieses Ensembles zu erleben. Ohne dieser unglaublichen Stadt gibt es keinen Grund .
