Had to wait 30-40 minutes at arrival and it was time to check in still had to wait. Got told I got upgraded to a higher level, the view was just building alley didn’t get to see much. Dissapointed in that.

location is right off of Michigan Avenue near Millennium Park; convenient for things downtown and for accessing CTA/Metra.

Pretty much everything else. You have to check yourself in and setup your own room key. Everything in the room is controlled by an ipad. The TV never worked. The beds are firm and on our king bed we had two total pillows which seems about half of what it should be. The street noise is incessant--we were greeted at 6:30am on a Saturday by the banging of buckets and random jazz music being played outside. The rooms are very small. The mini fridge wasn't cold and the room takes ages to cool down. I would not recommend and will not be staying here again.

The room was small , the air was mid to say the least , sheets always felt wet , there were stains all over the sheets and pillows , the toilet paper wasn’t even knew but looked like it was left over from the previous stay. Would not recommend

Great location, friendly vibe and excellent facilities. We love staying here and will be back again.

Room wasn’t as clean as the usual standard. stains on the walls, head board and lampshade. The aircon also seemed to circulate smells from the kitchen as food could be smelled at intervals throughout the day and night.

It's uniqueness

Location is great, right by bus stops and subway stations. Main tourist attractions are also walking distance, so would definitely recommend checking Art Institute out. Bedroom is clean, cozy and the bathroom is more spacious than many hotels that I've stayed in with bigger rooms. Bonus points for the breakfast, simple but very efficient.

Rooms are kind of small, not much bathroom pricey.

The staff, the location, the amenities, the views. Everything was perfect for me. I was on a solo trip for my birthday & couldn’t have felt more safe. With staff being super hospitality to greeting you by last name to security doing his rounds to ensure the property was safe. Location was everything. I literally was able to walk to more than half of the places I wanted to visit. Will definitely be staying here again.

I did get a bug bite. Not sure if it came from the room itself or from being outside. Other than this I have no further complaints.

C’est la deuxième fois que nous séjournons dans un CitizenM, donc nous savions à quoi nous attendre. La chambre est certes petite, mais propre, moderne, très fonctionnelle et vraiment bien pensée. Nous avons également apprécié le confort de la literie et tous les équipements de la chambre. Évidemment, l’emplacement est génial pour découvrir Chicago à pied et profiter du centre-ville. La terrasse a aussi été une très belle surprise : un endroit vraiment agréable pour se poser après une journée en ville, avec une jolie vue sur Chicago. L’ambiance générale de l’hôtel est moderne et décontractée, avec des espaces communs sympas. Dans l’ensemble, nous avons passé deux très bonnes nuits !

Le check-in / check-out à faire soi-même est, à notre goût, un peu laborieux, et nous avons trouvé l’accueil du personnel un peu moins chaleureux que prévu... Dommage Le prix était également assez élevé, mais notre séjour tombait en plein festival Lollapalooza, ce qui l’explique certainement en partie. Le rapport qualité/prix en a forcément un peu souffert.

The mattress was so uncomfortable, it felt like a rock and the room was very tight. And they had only two little pillows.

the breakfast was wonderful.

Location was very central to all the Riverwalk activities, millenium park, and the Chicago Theater. Also, the amenities were very clean and up to date without being too overbearing. I liked the room's setup; the wall-to-wall bed was very cozy and just the right size for unwinding after a lot of walking downtown.

The only thing I did not like was the parking situation, or lack thereof. Some of the public garages near it have hit-or-miss reviews. I do recommend the garage attached to the Illinois Center on E. Wacker and "Coast @ Lakeshore East" attached to the Swissotel. Not too long of a walk if you want to avoid break-ins!

The main thing that spoiled the whole experience was absolute lack of cell reception. Couldn’t call, text , do any work while at the hotel. The only option was to use unprotected wireless connection. Also the room was a bit more ran down than expected, side panels of the bed kept falling off

The staff were great, very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area, public transportation. It was in a great location near the park, the riverwalk and shopping.

The HVAC system was struggling with the high temperature and humidity. As a result we had water dripping from the ceiling the entire time we were there, and towels on the floor to keep from slipping. The bed took up the entire end of the room and you couldn’t walk around it, so we had to crawl up from the bottom to get onto the mattress - not great for an older couple and one disabled. The sink area was tiny and really inadequate.

The place was right off Michigan Ave and so convenient. You are right by a 7-Eleven store and Walgreens is not far. The hotel is on Wacker Place so it is more easily accessible to Uber/Lyft or taxis than Wacker Drive. The place was clean and the staff were very helpful. The main floor was always busy and folks were having a good time. Other guests were respectful and friendly. Every staff member greeted us and wanted to help if we needed it. They were very present. Our room had a nice sized bathroom and we were able to acess both sides of the bed, which I learned is not always the case. The gentleman at their check-in table was very helpful and honest about the limitations of the air conditioning system and immediately offered us a strong fan to help us stay cool. He also called to get replacement towels brought to the room since we were keeping the floor dry with ours. There is a bar and a small refrigerated spot on the main level to buy select beverages from the bar. The place is full of potential. It reminded me of hostels I stayed in years ago.

This hotel is not the kind if hotel we are used to and there were many things that will keep us from going back. The room is operated by a tablet. It controls the climate, the shades, the lights, the television. Turning on and off lights drove me crazy. I couldn't control just one light. Every light went on or off. You couldn't open one shade without the other. You couldn't raise or lower the inside and outside shades without all of them moving. There was a drawer, like one for clothes, that was supposed to act as a refrigerator, but barely kept our Gatorade cool. It would not keep medication or breast milk cold if needed. There's no ice machine. That was inconvenient. Though not the fault of the hotel that it was 90+ degrees outside, the air conditioning did not cool our room and it dripped condensation on the floor making it slippery. All of this made it difficult to feel comfortable.

The location of this hotel is great. I like the bar in the lobby — food and drinks are both available, so we don't have to go out to eat.

The AC in my room isn't working well. It's been really hot in Chicago lately, and every time I get back to the room, it takes a long time for the AC to bring the temperature down even a little. Sometimes I even wonder if it's just because it's getting later in the day and cooling down outside, rather than the AC actually doing its job. I've reached out to staff several times, and each time they say it'll be fixed, "tomorrow." I've now stayed three nights with no resolution at all. One of the bath towels had some stains on it, which was a bit of a challenge for someone who's slightly a neat freak.

They don't have the coolest air conditioning on really hot days. We had to get a box fan. The shower didn't get hot enough or enough water pressure n the tv barely worked.

Very cool space-significantly cooler than me. I loved the lounges and outdoor patio. The LED lights in the room were fun to play with.

No free coffee or tea. Something so inexpensive made a huge impact on our morning. No way to use the bathroom at night without disturbing my partner (lights).

The location was wonderful. Walking distance to everything. I didn't mind the cute bed at all. Me and my fiance slept with our feet towards the TV so we didn't have to crawl over each other. The bed is huge .

The bar staff act like you are regulars. Didn't explain anything about food. Zero personality. There was one girl on the very first day that was really nice but she was going on vacation so we didn't see her anymore. The women were at least nice to my fiance. Maybe because he was paying.

The location, amenities, decor, and service were spectacular. I was surprised that it was a SMART room, everything electronic is on an iPad next to the bed. Cool light features, choose your mood. The room is micro, but extremely well thought out, very quiet and very comfortable bed. I didn't even notice that one of the drawers was a fridge. I also enjoyed the outdoor space looking on to Michigan Avenue. Looking forward to staying again!

The rooms were extremely small for two people and no top sheet. You cannot go around the bed so we rotated the pillows orientation during the first night as suggested by the hotel, but housekeeping did not keep the same orientation. AC was also leaking all over the floor.

I find the whole citizenM brand to be trying a bit too hard.

The location of the hotel was walking distance to everything. The room was small, but that didn't bother me because my sister and I were out and about most of the day. The room was just right for showering and sleeping. The breakfast was amazing! Ebony was so helpful and made sure I was well taken care of during my stay. Jay was very nice and made sure I had delicious drinks while sitting at the bar.

The location and price were great. I’ve been to Chicago before and this hotel is right in downtown, great walking distance of food, attractions, and stores. The decor and style of the hotel is great!

The only dislike I have was my first room had water leakage. Besides that I had no problems

The no early check in, even for status Marriott members. The rooms are incredibly tiny and should be better advertised to the public. Had I had known how small the rooms are, I never would have booked there and paid the per night fee. Too small for two adults, bed was pushed against the wall so you have to climb over the other person. No place to put luggage, vanity tiny and no space for two people to get ready simultaneously. No privacy at well. The sheer curtain is not providing any sense of privacy.

Loved the central location to everything I had planned for my wife on our 18th anniversary! We were able to walk to everything and within reason! Furthest thing away only took 10 minutes to walk to!

Parking was a nightmare, although I fully understand why because of where we were in the city! Maybe put up some signs in the parking ramp because we legitimately couldn't find our way out of the parking ramp! We are not simple people but were confused as to how to get to the street!

Kleine kamer. Weinig plaats voor plaatsen van koffers zeker als je als koppel twee grote koffers hebt. Plaatsing van het bed in een hoek tegen de wand niet ideaal als je er als koppel logeert. Een van beiden dient steeds andere wakker te maken om naar het toilet te gaan. Douche/toilet cabine heeft transparante wand wat betekent dat je bij aansteken van het licht in de cabine de ganse kamer verlicht. Er waren geen bekers aanwezig voor poetsen van de tanden, die diende je aan de bar te vragen. Toen we op een avond nog twee cola's wilden bestellen negeerde de barman ons ( koppel nannen) gewoon, maakte een babbeltje met andere klanten en bestelde zelfs iemand die na ons aan de bar verscheen.

El arte que tiene el hotel es fabuloso y la ubicación es increíble y demasiado accesible para trasladarte a donde desees en Chicago. O banheiro fica bem no meio do quarto, separado por um vidro, o que pode ser um pouco desconfortável para quem viaja com mais pessoas.

Perfect place to stay. Rooms are very unique and quirky but perfect for a city break like Chicago. Would stay again, beds were very comfortable and amazing location that I would recommend staying here.

Perfect location within walking distance of most sites/attractions. With that bed, pillows and room darlening shades - I had the best sleep I have had in years. Visitrd bar one night- that was good. Enjoyed stay - would definitely book again.

Some of the signage could be a little more noticeable. In elevator the sign for where to swipe room key was very low with small writing. Didn't notice til last day the tiny little sign that I could have gotten an iron right on floor. Videos in elevator are a little hard to take if you have brain issues/prone to seizures.

Price was ridiculous

Love the size, the snug bed, the room controls and automation! This size (with corresponding lower price) is of great interest to me, but there was a big problem: the shower. By the time I was done showering, the entire bathroom was flooded, not just the shower stall. The bathroom has a lip at the door, and fortunately not enough water pooled to get above the lip, but yikes! For $400/night (some big event was happening) that wasn't acceptable. More complaints about the shower: user chooses between a rainfall overhead or a handheld, but the handheld has a stiff, unarticulated hose, making it very difficult to use. Love the design, except for the impractical shower.
