Lovely staff, beautifully styled and great location.

No real complaints, but wouldn’t choose the chapel suite if went back - no proper clothes storage / hanging / luggage racks - a bit of a nuisance and strange for an otherwise first rate experience. Also beware the super weak coffee.

This hotel is absolutely charming, created and run by a couple who obviously care. Lots of little details they’ve thought of. Kind, helpful staff, a great breakfast and comfortable facilities. We will be back.

Fantastic location, the staff are incredible – so friendly and attentive. The hotel is in a gorgeous old building. The breakfast is wonderful.

The sinks in the bathrooms are a bit small so when you turn on the tap you get splashed - I suggest they change them to be bigger. There are quite a lot of mosquitos but they didn’t seem to bite too much. Some of the decor is a bit tacky - I suggest the hotel sticks to the traditional Portuguese decor and ditches the “quirky” art etc. as it makes the hotel look cheap and dated.

Quarto amplo, com terraço e piscina partilhada com outros 3 quartos. Pequeno almoço de grande variedade, servido à mesa e … sem limite do hora!

A envolvente numa cidade tão bonita podia ter melhor sorte!

El hotel está bien ubicado dentro de la bohemia ciudad de Tavira. Se halla más o menos a cinco minutos a pie de la zona del río Gilao, iglesias, castillo y ferry para playa. Confortable y especial diseño de mi habitación, bien distribuida y aprovechada amén de que tener menos intimidad en "cuestiones de baño" yendo en pareja no es problema. Extraordinarias instalaciones en general, incluidos sus gatos. Nada de presión a la hora de hacer habitaciones, de tomar el desayuno - no sujeto a horario a la par que magnífico- y excelente servicio del personal cuya amabilidad y disposición enamoran, como la ciudad en sí.

Quizá faltaba un espejo de cuerpo entero así como las personas que busquen piscinas amplias no tienen ahí su sitio.

Our entire experience at Colegio Charm House was truly memorable. The atmosphere, the beautiful house, the location and the wonderful staff all made our stay very special. Even though the hotel is right in the heart of Tavira, just a two-minute walk from the centre, it felt incredibly peaceful and quiet. The breakfast and all the food served at the hotel were thoughtfully prepared down to the smallest detail. We also really enjoyed the surprise dinner experience they offered – such a lovely and unexpected addition to our stay. A perfect place for anyone looking to enjoy peace, comfort and a touch of luxury. We would happily return!

We cannot recommend this property enough, from the minute you arrived the staff were welcoming, friendly and nothing was a problem. The rooms were exceptional, very comfortable and to a high standard. Breakfast was a fantastic start to the day, high quality and again a note to the staff on how efficient and friendly. Pool area was lovely and chilling. Overall this was an excellent place to relax and enjoy the area with amazing staff cannot wait to return.

The Colégio hotel is an essence of our Tavira trip. We felt more like we were hosted at a friend's house instead of a hotel. The rooftop terrace was a wonderful place. We actually arriving on one of the hottest days of the first week of August, we still felt a cool breeze there. The service of the breakfast was welcoming, and the high quality ingredients make it perfect.

The entrance of the parking has a slope and the big rock makes it a little difficult to drive.

Das Frühstück wird am Tisch serviert und ist sehr gut. Die Betten sind bequem, und Zimmer sowie Anlage sind gut ausgestattet.

Die Lage ist zentrumsnah, jedoch an einer stark befahrenen Straße. Wir buchten eine Deluxe Suite, welche aber im Erdgeschoss lag und dunkel war. Direkt vor der Tür war der Pool, die Liegebetten mit 2-3 Metern Abstand, sodass es Privatsphäre nur im dunklen, geschlossenen Zimmer gab. Auf Nachfrage der Eigentümerin, ob im Zimmer alles ok sein, schilderte ich die Situation. Sie meinte, sie würde das prüfen, meldete sich jedoch nicht mehr. (Im Gegenteil, sie stellte sich Tage später bei uns neuerlich vor, als ob wir neue Gäste wären!) Das passte zur übertrieben inszenierten Atmosphäre, die an The White Lotus erinnert. Dass die Chefin die Abwicklung des Frühstücks an einem der Tische beobachtet, ist für die Stimmung im Team sicher auch nicht zuträglich, es wirkt insgesamt alles etwas künstlich und aufgesetzt.

Everything was great!

A beautiful property and the staff were excellent. The property has a lovely relaxing pool area and each day we enjoyed a fab breakfast.

Whilst our room was well decorated in line with its African theme the lack of a full mirror and lighting was a challenge when getting ready.

Superb small hotel that oozes character. Staff are so attentive. Food was superb. We had the “surprise menu” and the food didn’t disappoint and, in my view, was good value. Breakfast could be taken at anytime of the day which was great.

Couldn’t fault it

Everything about the venue was excellent. Key factor was the efficient, friendly and helpful staff. There was a clear sense that if any problems did arise they would be resolved. Everything was customer focused and made for a pleasant and comfortable stay.

There is nothing not to loker about this enterprise!

The room was incredible, the design and decor were beautiful; like no other place we've ever stayed. We were in the 4 person studio and it fully accomodated our family. We enjoyed the surprise dinner one night- loved it- as well as all of the breakfast accomodations. The location- a 5 minute walk to downtown, about a 10 minute walk to the ferry, it was perfect! Maria was my primary contact and everything was seamless.

They have somewhat over-priced special dinners with no choice of menu. We got ‘persuaded’ to take the special menu option as we were advised that as it was a Sunday all the restaurants in town would be closed. Actually we visited town after dinner and there was a Fiesta and the place was jumping! The meal was very good though. Watch out for wine by the glass prices. 8€ each for a small 175mm pour, and it turns out we could have had a whole bottle for €18… !!

Die Lage war toll und die Einrichtung des Hotels war sehr modern. Der Service war sehr gut.

Das Frühstück wird einem an den Tisch gebracht. Leider alles auf einmal. Wir hätten uns das lieber selbst geholt. Man bekommt einfach ungefragt alles auf den Tisch gestellt. Kleine Törtchen, Marmelade, Honig,, Früchte, Joghurt. Da steht dann alles in der prallen Sonne auf dem Tisch. Das Zimmer war trotz Licht sehr dunkel.

Breakfast was fabulous-fresh fruits and healthy options. Staff could not have been more helpful. The quality of the food was very good-our only slightly critical observation was that notwithstanding a wide-ranging menu for snacks between 12 and 5pm, the dinner option each night was limited to a 3-course meal, where choice was limited to meat, fish or vegetable as the main course. We did not always want or need a 3-course meal so the hotel is missing opportunities there perhaps.

We actually really liked the rooftop sitting area which could have been improved by a little music and maybe staffing the bar there.

Can’t think of anything I didn’t like

This is a wonderful hotel! Our room was exquisitely decorated and we loved it. Cristina and her staff are outstanding! Nothing is too much trouble and they are on hand at all times. The food is amazing and served so fluently and efficiently. The breakfast selection is excellent and it was such a treat to be served such delicious fare on the lovely terrace. Dinner was also exceptional. The roof terrace is charming and has far ranging views.

Außergewöhnliches Design der öffentlichen Räume wie auch unseres Zimmers (im afrikanischen Stil, sehr geschmackvoll zusammengestellt). Das liebevolle Personal umsorgt beim leckeren Frühstück und Dinner vorbildlich. Alles ist schmackhaft und frisch zubereitet. Es gibt keine Wartezeiten. Das Hotel ist großzügig, klein, aber fein. Bei unserem nächsten Tavira-Besuch werden wir unbedingt wieder dort übernachten.

Ein mit Sorgfalt und Respekt renoviertes historisches Hotel hat auch zum Teil hohe Treppenstufen. Ältere Menschen mit eingeschränkter Mobilität sind dadurch herausgefordert. In nahe der Straße gelegenen Zimmern kann nächtlicher Verkehrslärm störend wirken.

Colégio had a very nice welcoming feel to it with superb rooms, incredible staff and set in a great location for easy access in and out of Tavira.

Our stay was fantastic!! Soooo relaxing- we stayed in the Indian room overlooking the pool. Two showers and a bath. The breakfast was exceptional. The staff Maria and Christina go beyond to help. And the owner is active in the running of the hotel. Highly recommended- it’s so close to town.

Our room was Very small, But it was comfortable and nicely decorated with a fabulous terrace that made up for the squeeze! Bathroom lighting was poor. A mirror light would be helpful.

From our initial arrival to check out we were treated so well by all of the team. The breakfasts were delicious and presented so well. We enjoyed the Chef’s surprise dinner so much on our first night, that we booked a second dinner on another evening of our stay. The history of the property and the restoration to the boutique hotel it is today lends to a very cool vibe. The theme room we stayed in was a really neat experience and loved the amenities on the property as they had and different places to hang out and enjoy ourselves. I would definitely book another stay at the Colégio Charm House

Maybe luggage racks and a bit more storage to hang clothes in the room would be helpful. With the dark walls in the room, the lighting could have been a bit better.

Breakfast was superb. Ideally located for Tavira town, the ferry & all sights & facilities. Also good to have transport links virtually on the doorstep. The staff were all brilliant: friendly and efficient.

We had really good weather & sometimes felt a little awkward that the sunbeds were close to rooms on the swimming pool level. We were a bit short of wardrobe space in room 15. We stayed for a week so maybe we just packed too much!

The charm of the property was exceptional, the food was great, and even the concept of the breakfast is great… you get to eat everything without throwing anything away.

We stayed at Colegio Charm House for four nights and had an absolutely lovely experience. The building has been beautifully renovated, preserving the integrity and history of the original structure in a tasteful and elegant way. Every detail of the space is thoughtfully designed, with a clear sense of creativity and exceptional taste—kudos to the designer. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely caring. They were warm, friendly, and down-to-earth, with none of the pretentiousness you sometimes find in boutique stays. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and looked after. The beds were extremely comfortable—and the sheets! The bedding was unbelievably luxurious and perfect for a restful night’s sleep. Our room was quiet, spotless, and very well maintained. I especially loved the all-day breakfast concept. It meant we could sleep in without feeling rushed, which made the experience even more relaxing. The breakfast and light daytime menu were delicious. While we didn’t dine there in the evening—since we wanted to explore restaurants around Tavira—we heard rave reviews from other guests. I would highly recommend staying here when visiting Tavira.

A great location - very central. Beautifully restored building with very attentive staff. Breakfast was fabulous. Enjoyed the pool area and whole place had a chilled vibe. Decor in all the shared areas was very tasteful. Dinner was really good with a four course Portuguese menu.

The room we had next to the pool was too dark and strangely decorated in comparison to the rest of the hotel. It felt a bit bunker like with no natural light and poor lighting within the room. I felt the decor did not reflect the ambience of the rest of the hotel that we saw.

Der Style, die gesamte Einrichtung und die Anlage des Hotels ist zauberhaft. Der alte Charme des Gebäudes wurde in Kombination von modernen Interieur perfekt erhalten. Wunderschön! Das Frühstück wurde am Tisch serviert und ist nicht zu toppen. Es fehlte uns an nichts. Das Personal ist durchgehend sehr freundlich und man hat sich sehr wohl gefühlt. Wir haben einen Abend das Dinner im Hotel gewählt und auch dieses war sehr lecker. Dies ist auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert. Der Weg in die Stadt ist 5 min zu Fuß und man ist im Zentrum.

Unser Zimmer empfanden wir etwas dunkel und die Toilette hatte einen merkwürdigen Geruch. (alte Gebäude haben dies oft - evtl. Kanalproblem)

We arrived after a long drive and we were greeted with freshly made iced tea and homemade cake. The staff members were kind and welcoming, even the owner greeted us and asked about our stay. The grounds are beautiful and lovingly cared for. Free, secure parking was appreciated. An excellent breakfast (great coffee, juices and many options)was served each morning and we enjoyed eating outside on the patio - flexible breakfast times was a plus! Freshly baked cake was available each day in the late afternoon. The location was perfect for visiting the town center…if you are arriving by bus, the station is very nearby. A small heated pool is available but it was too chilly for us to swim this trip.

Our room was in the converted chapel - it is small and the bathroom awkward with a very small stone sink - larger room options are available. A patio just outside our door was a bonus.

THE ALL DAY BREAKFAST WAS WONDERFUL. WE LOVED THE GIN EXPERIENCE ON WOMEN'S DAY. THE STAFF WERE UNFAILINGLY WELCOMING AND HELPFUL. THE DECOR OF OUR ROOM AND THE HOTEL WAS QUIRKY AND CHARMING. SPECIAL THANKS TO CLARA AND CAESAR BUT ALL THE STAFF WERE LOVELY.

THE DOUBLE ROOM WE HAD BOOKED WAS VERY SMALL ESPECIALLY AS WE HAD A LOT OF LUGGAGE AFTER TRAVELLING FOR OVER 6 WEEKS. WE UPGRADED TO A SUITE WHICH HAD A SEPARATE LIVING AREA AND 2 BATHROOMS WHICH WAS FANTASTIC AND GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. THE HOTEL OVERLOOKS THE BUS STATION BUT THE ROOM DOUBLE GLAZING KEPT OUT ANY NOISE

The location was great, 2 minute walk into the centro where bars, restaurants, shops and castle ruins are located. The staff are lovely and accommodating, the amenities such as the pool, rooftop area, the daily homemade cake in the reception area is delightful. The building itself is very charming. Breakfast is a highlight.

I’m sorry to say we did not like our room at all. In fact we found it quite hazardous. We had a suite.It was a loft situation. The stairs leading up were actually quite creative, it was a bookcase, but the bookcase was also the stairs and they were steep. Going up and down with an inadequate handrail was very risky and dangerous in our opinion. Our age should have been taken into account when we were assigned that room. The main area of the room was very small and tight, not comfortable at all. With that being said, the decor was quite charming and I think they did the best they could with the space, but the room space and loft area are lacking.

The dinner we had was fine but not great, the prices at the bar were high (to be expected, but the town is only 5 minutes away, with better food and drink)
