Great location, views from the room, and breakfast.
It gets a little noisy being above the dining area, but this should have been expected.
Great location, with amazing views from the room over the harbour. Very clean and presentable room.
If i was being picky, you can hear people going to their rooms, but no issue.
Fabulous location Rooms very clean and comfortable Everything you need for a few days at Whitby
No car park Quite a walk from council car park to property with luggage
Location was excellent, breakfast excellent.Room not worth £150 even though it included breakfast. The bathtub is a total waste of space which could be used as a comfortable sitting area. The bathroom was poorly laid out as water from the shower sprays all over the floor. The bathmat was disgusting with black mould underneath. The net curtain was hanging off and had been secured with a paper clip. The hotel appeared to be more of a busy restaurant with a few rooms. On returning to have a drink we were told there were no seats available but we could stand at the bar.......hotel !! Great location but totally overpriced at £150.
The room layout as it seemed cramped with the over size bathtub in the room. This made the area with the tea making facilities and chair squashed in the corner.
Excellent location.
Nothing
The location and comfortable bed
The pillows as are all feathered
Beautiful room, very clean and right in the centre of Whitby. Quality of the room was excellent. Lovely full English breakfast
Nothing, everything was great
Everything was amazing from the room, the food, location and the staff.

Location, charm and authenticity
Staff outside smoking weed
Location was brilliant accept nowhere to park. Bedroom small but comfortable. Great views.
The breakfast menu was a joke. No brown bread for the whole of our stay. No fruit salad unless you made it yourself. Ran out of most everything on the continental breakfast on our last morning. Very slow to clear tables. Making your own toast was not acceptable. Only one of the staff had an ideal of customer service. No apologies from the Manager. It
Nice room good view of the harbour Staff helpful
Pub property a little run down It's a pub with rooms not a hotel with a bar
Beliggenheten
Ikke hyggelig personale. Gretne og sure.
Lovely clean well equipped room …quality towels and bedding …plenty of hot water …tea / coffee and biscuits …good size tv Above all a view over the harbour Friendly welcoming staff
Room a bit small but didn’t really detract from overall positives
Lovely staff nothing was too much trouble.
Nothing
We had stayed at the Duke of York three times prior to this booking and consequently knew what to expect and it didn't let us down again. The Duke of York has everything, excellent service, amazing views, a good selection on their menu.
Hard to find anything to say in this category; if anything maybe change the photo images in the room.
Amazing location, fantastic staff and customer service

Breakfast was excellent.
Everything was great
Clean really nice room comfy bed Breakfast absolutely beautiful good location

The spot is awesome, our room (#1) was right on the pier, and the view was amazing. The staff was super nice. Breakfast was really good. We loved our stay.
It was clean, but because of where the room was, there was sand a bit all over the place.
It was in a great position overlooking the harbour and near to the shops
Nothing
La ubicación genial. Muy buenas vistas. Los desayunos de 10. Lástima q estuvimos muy poco tiempo.
Todo bien.
Clean , breakfast was banging staff great.

Beautiful location and gorgeous room
Only downside is parking but the car park wasn’t far at all
We will definitely be booking again. Great location and view of the harbour. The rooms were beautiful and very clean. Staff were friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely location & staff were fantastic. .Will definitely be booking again soon
It being so hot but thats nobody's fault!!
Excellent Location, bedroom was good, great coffee machine. Good views of harbour.
Bathroom good but tired and requires repairs.
The staff were brilliant couldn't do enough for you the room was excellent we had a family room with an amazing sea view. The only down fall was the kitchen was closed at 8pm we couldn't eat they had ran out of food. However they did cateter for our 2 young grandsons but we had to go out and eat.when we came back at 10-30pm the bar was closed even to residents. A little disappointing however they did offer my husband a drink to take to the room, not what we wanted but thats how it was. Would definitely go back and we definitely recommend just be mindful of eating and wanting to relax in the bar at the end of the day. Not sure if that was a one off but it was disappointing.
Own entrance to our room and good facilities within the room was provided with iron ,ironing board, coffee and tea was really well equipped
No fridge available
Absolutely great hotel staff and accommodation. Room was excellent staff were very helpful and friendly and location is amazing.

Clean and well maintained. Staff attentive even when busy

Location was good and the room was clean.
Location comfortable rooms
No parking nearby
Great location, lovely view from room
No parking, had to walk over cobbled from a car park about 5/10 minutes away. Was no issue for us but it might be a problem for people with mobility difficulties
The room was lovely overlooking the sea our only bug bear was that there was no drawers in the room.to.put your underwear in also on leaving a lady was complaining to the bar staff that the bar closed at 10.pm.this is disgusting if you are staying at the hotel it should be at least 11 pm.when the bar closes. But all in all we had a lovely stay and would book again. Anne walker

Spot on lovely clean room pub right next to the beach and 200 steps
Amazing location. Best in whitby
Breakfast was late served due to an issue in the kitchen, and wasnt the best breakfast.
Great sea harbor view
Couldn't take drinks from bar to room
Absolutely loved it..staff was lovely very welcoming..lovely breakfast and an amazing view of the sea from our room ..would deffo recommend..thankyou for a wonderful stay
Location was perfect. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, although advertised as having fruit and croissants none were available. Staff were very friendly and helpful
Everything was fine. Room was spotless. Lovely view overlooking the harbour
The Duke of York were amazing we have had a lot mini breaks in whitby but this is the best it is a hiddern gem thank you
Nothing
The staff couldn't do enough for you they was very helpful and friendly. The room had everything you need and the views from the room was excellent. We will definitely be booking again.
There was nothing we didn't like.
Location
Breakfast. No bowls or milk out for cereals, when somebody asked for them. A few bowls were fetched out and milk was a plastic bottle. 2nd day staff said there's a problem with the oven, we waited nearly an hour for a cooked breakfast. Okay I can appreciate there can be problems but the food was cold. It's like they are cost cutting for breakfast.
Location, stunning views, very comfortable bed, clean room.
Nothing really. Another small chair in room would have been useful to enjoy the views in the evening sunshine.
Excellent views of the sea, delicious breakfast and comfortable clean room ☺️ great B&B
Very clean and tidy, eight rooms inside the pub, fantastic views from our room across the harbour.
Quite a walk out of the town and no parking on site.
Excellent room and location.
Rooms are modern clean and very nice
Breakfast service is very slow
The location was good although the parking and access was a bit of a struggle.
The bed was extremely narrow for two people and we were falling off the bed although we’re not comparatively large people
Excellent location. Good room and en-suite, very friendly, helpful staff
There seemed to be a few issues with running out of wine and also food was cancelled on one of the evenings
Очень милый отель, невероятно уютные номера, вид из окна потрясающий, кровати удобные, белье безупречное. В номере была кофе машина и чайник, это очень выручало. Все прекрасно! Завтрак большой и сытный!
Bed was comfy Great selection of amenities Pretty room
Room was a bit small
Great location, nice place to stay over. Lovely breakfast and friendly staff.
Not sure
The room was very nice and was in a good location at the hotel.
The food at dinner time was only very average. The waiting staff were all young people with no public service skills whatsoever. Weoredered a bottle of wine with dinner and the glasses I was given were disgusting. I gave them back and whatever was done to them only improved them marginally.
Viskas patiko ,tvarkinga jauku patogi lova
Viskas patiko
The central location was ideal for exploring, the bedrooms were tastefully decorated to a high standard with all the items that you would want, nice additional touches of a fan, tea and coffee and biscuits
The bedrooms that face onto the main street are noisy but that is due to the location being central and not the hotels fault
Room clean . Easy on eye. Very comfortable beds. Everything needed in room. Fabulous view over river and sea. Delight to look out late at night or first thing in morning. Excellent breakfast with room overlooking river. Excellently location on church st bottom of famous 199 steps.
No complaints
Good location, bed was very comfortable, bathroom clean and shower good. Extra facilities in room welcomed. Small mirror on dresser, fan for heat, hair dryer. Plenty of choice for breakfast which was good.
Our room was really comfortable with a spectacular view over the harbour mouth and out to sea.
Nothing.
Location
Steep stairs with short tread
Location and historic building.
Small room, steep narrow stairway to the rooms, difficult carrying luggage upstairs. Was okay for younger fitter people.
Seaview, comfortable bed 🛌, location.
Nothing
All of it. The hotel is located in the old area of Whitby with direct access to a beach. The family room is a spacious room with 3 comfortable beds (2 single and 1 double) with a large window with the best views of Whitby. Good choices for breakfast and friendly service.
Nothing
The location was amazing right next to the beach 30secs from pub as well.the staff at th Duke of York are amazing as well really helpful and friendly and always willing to help you could not fault them one little bit. The breakfast was amazing for me some of the best bacon I have had in years but the eggs hash browns and sausages were always perfect.
The only issue we had with the room was the bed I'm quite a tall and wide guy and I was a few times on the edge of the bed don't know if normal double or the slightly smaller one but just wasn't that comfortable for us but that was our only issue
Great location, pets allowed
All was good, no negatives
Lovely family room, cute decor, dog friendly for a small fee and opens onto a dog friendly beach. Our view was stunning, beds comfy and such an amazing location. Breakfast was so nice too which was included in the price and the staff were friendly.
I didn’t account for the football being on (we were above the busy pub) luckily we were watching it and our children sleep through anything. Was also so hot with only a small fan which was a struggle, I was too hot to sleep. Maybe need a much larger fan provided as I feel like if it had been cooler would have been 10/10. I know they can’t control the weather so not property’s fault but deffo need a big fan! . We were also opposite a staff door which was loud closing quite a lot but again luckily didn’t disturb the kids but was just a bit annoying.
Great room with a view. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Old Town location.
There was noise from the pub downstairs but it finished by midnight - did not worry us particularly.
Location excellent, staff superb. Stayed in a superior king and loved chilling on our own harbour view table.
Perdect location. In front of the 199 steps to go to the abbey. Shops, bars in the lovely same street. Staff was really friendly. Breakfast was excellent, dull English breakfast recommended.
Nothing
Front of house excellent welcoming and so friendly.
Only so they can improve, fly traps needs in bar/ eating area.
AMAZING PLACE TO STAY
Nothing
Great location Lovely views. Comfy bed Pleasant room no.5 Good cooked breakfast Great barman Finn
Nowhere to put toiletry bag in bathroom as it was well big enough. Poor choice of continental breakfast items .
Location on the harbour side is wonderful
Basic breakfast.
Location and the character of place . The bar had a good feel and atmosphere about it.
It’s a shame there is no parking near by . It’s understanding as the streets are very narrow .
The location was fantastic and the room was excellent.
The Staff were friendly and welcoming, asked all the right questions but didn't act on any requests as required. We were asked if we would like the room made up or just replenished,we said replenished.. but it didn't happen..we had to ask for more tea bags while we were in the bar during the evening. On our arrival some items on the menu weren't available. Some items on the Breakfast menu were over cooked ( poached eggs) and some items were served cold ( mushrooms). The entrance to our room, which was accessed from outside was untidy and unwelcoming, we can appreciate the need for scaffolding, but not the pile of rubbish and we had to step over a pool of cooking fat which was dripping from the overhead ducting from the kitchen, which was also dripping on the entrance door and the handle inside.
Brilliant location. Rooms are big and well furnished with lovely colours and decor.
1. We were not advised about booking / reserving a table for the evening and almost did not end up with either a table or food due to the football. 2. Bar staff were initially not very helpful when the above incident occurred until I complained and explained that we should have been informed of the situation when checking in. The situation improved between us during the evening so I don’t want to make a big deal about it but I think this is a training issue and could be looked into 3. The fan in my room was much appreciated but the bottom part of the stand was already broken when I arrived. 4. A summer duvet should have been on the bed as it was a heat wave and summer so although the bedding was beautiful and luxurious, a summer weight duvet or sheet with blanket would have been more appropriate 5. Does the door to the accommodation actually lock? I felt that some security was compromised as it didn’t seem to lock 6. Although I sound grumpy, we actually loved our stay. The staff in the morning were fun and caring. The rooms are beautiful and yes, I will recommend to all my friends
Nice welcome, room was good and bathroom was spacious. In a good postion to visit the Abbey
Clean, bright and in an ideal place for shops, beach and the 199 steps. Staff were very accommodating, and breakfast was lovely to set the day right. Amazing views
The noise early morning. Sounded like cleaners were in using a floor cleaner sweeping and another time banging as if it was deliveries (well that’s what I imagined to try and get myself back off to sleep)
The room was clean comfortable and had very good facilities, particularly hot weather so the tower fan was much appreciated. Quirky old building, love that.
Nothing springs to mind.
Busy pub with magnificent views over Whitby. Staff worked hard to ensure a comfortable stay. Room was great with all requirements taken care of.
All good
Loved the location, and the room.
Would love it to be more vegan friendly.
Bed was very comfortable with a great view
The staff were very grumpy in the mornings
The location was perfect Our room was spotless and had everything needed With the added bonus of a tower fan which was much needed due to it being a hot day Bathroom was a great size Breakfast was included but we left early so never got to try it Will definitely stay again
