Only a couple of streets away from the train station, great accessible by foot location. Lovely characterful period building with the rooms furnished in keeping. Breakfast included a freshly cooked hot breakfast and a selection of cereals & juices. Owner was very friendly and welcoming.

Very easy to access from the train station. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Our condolences to the hostess whose mother passed during the night.

Adele looked after us after a long walk on Hadrians path, nice breakfast, restaurant’s close by, enjoyed our stay.

The location was excellent, easy to find. Free street parking with permit from the landlady, who was very welcoming. The room was small (single) but had great shower and little extras like biscuits, cleansing pads, ironing board, and toiletries. USB socket by the bed . Landlady was friendly and caring, discussed places to eat/ to avoid.

Glass fire escape in the room, with frosted glass rather than a window, so it was light but I couldn’t see out. It wasn’t a problem as I was only staying one night. Breakfast didn’t happen as the landlady was poorly, so I had to go elsewhere to eat.

Adele was an incredibly friendly and thoughtful host. The location was perfect to get the local buses to start our hike and close to the city centre. Our room was spotless and very cosy. The beds were comfy with soft linen and good quality towels.

The breakfast was very tasty, good location, canny hostess.

Our room was on the top floor within the loft (roof) space so we had to be careful not to bang our heads on the rafters next to dormer window which my friend unfortunately did on a couple of occasions, the bed I slept in was not very comfortable, the mattress was too soft for my liking.

Such friendly warm and welcoming host, beautiful room, great shower, wonderful food, exceptionally clean, cosy and comfy large bed.

Room was clean and tidy, big enough for 1 person, breakfast was help yourself cereal and toast along with a served English.

Being a solo traveller all rooms for solo's are on the top floor, which not great but expected.

Very interesting breakfast options, I chose poached eggs and smoked salmon, yum. Plus greek yogurt and fruit, a very splendid breakfast. I like the direct easy walk into Carlisle centre.. Great to have good attention from Adele who is a superb host.

Sorry Adele was ill and not able to host us or offer breakfast on Sunday morning. However, the Cathedral cafe was open so we were able to get breakfast there instead.

It was chaotic, no order to any of the stay. The host was friendly but was all over the place. We cleared our own table to sit for breakfast, everything was dirty and half our party didnt recieve their food.

We where asked on the day we checked in what time we would like breakfast and what we what we want for breakfast, one full and other no tomatoes or beans the next day the breakfast came both full not to the request and over loaded, we advised that one was no tomatoes and beans to which we got was we had advised her we both wanted full everything. She used my spoon which had yogurt on to remove the tomatoes and beans from husband plate, I end asking her to leave The room we stayed in had low ceilings and had not been advised of this, there was a chair located in one part of the low ceilings and no warning signs of the low ceiling, my husband banged his head really bad, if warning signs had been there he may not of banged his head The room was very cold and the shower took a good 10 minutes to warm up

Great little BnB situated very close to everything you need! Clean, comfy and on arrival looked like everything we hoped it would be.

As soon as morning came the adventure began! No sign of owner to serve breakfast...... After many attempts to get her attention and other guests coming and going and sharing their experience it was very clear we were truly self catering. I chose to ignore the rumours on the condition of our host and phoned her again. After a very confusing phone call, where she said she'd fallen I decided to contact emergency services. Police and paramedics arrived, ramming tool in hand and basically broke the door in. She was found and we were assured she was breathing and conscious however not exactly sober! We were all promised refunds (via the paramedics) for breakfast and asked to pack up and leave. In the next few days my group were all contacted re payment- she'd asked for cash but luckily I'd booked through Booking.com. I contacted her and said I'd like the refund offered before leaving review. She replied saying sorry and that refund would be sorted.....it wasn't! I thought I'd check with Booking.com Customer Service who have informed me it hadn't been requested. Thing is they can see she's offered it in messages so they have sorted it but not because she prompted it. We'd had a really good night but unfortunately this just killed the good mood 😞 Such a shame, beautiful building and surroundings but night away spoiled because of unfit host.

Lovely warm welcome from the host, very clean and comfortable room, really quiet location considering the proximity to the town centre. Only 5 minutes walk to the town with loads of options for restaurants and bars

We didn't actually get to stay here because the host did not receive our booking from Booking.com. However having subsequently contacted her to provide information to booking.com, we found Adele to be very helpful and responsive

This iwas my third stay at Cornerways and just as the previous visits it was perfect. A lovely warm welcome from the host, mad to feel right at home. The room was lovely, spascious, well decorated and I was treated to as lovely bath too! Slept really well in the super comfy bed and had a great breakfast in the morning. Looking forward to coming back soon.

I arrived after dark and found somewhere to park on the street behind the property. The lady host provided me with a parking permit. The location was within walking distance of a choice of restaurants for an evening meal. The room was clean and comfortable for an overnight work stop and breakfast was excellent. I will definitely stop again if on a similar schedule.

The guesthouse was charming and very clean. Location was in a very nice area. On street parking was fine with permit given on arrival. Plenty of spaces down the side street.

The owner ,on arrival,seemed a little unstable and said she had a fly in her eye and couldn't see, she was quite giddy. Looking back now we think she was drunk. She asked us if we would like breakfast at 9.15 and we filled a form in, with what we would like to eat and the time. In the morning we arrived to the dining table 5 mins early and waited for over 10 minutes but no-one arrived to serve us. Another couple told us that they had the same problem for 2 days. When she finally arrived, she refunded the other couple for the breakfast they hadn't had and said to us "I suppose you want money too" We explained that we were waiting for breakfast and she was rude and abusive saying " have you looked at the clock you should have got up." She threw £20 at us and we left.

Host was welcoming and jolly. Central location- walkable/close to Hadrians wall path, Carlisle bus station and train station, supermarkets and restaurants. The host upgraded us from bedroom with separate bathroom off hallway to an en-suite, because it was available. We were up in the attic, so quiet, and room was warm Enjoyed the tv in the evenings after dinner. I liked how large the rooms felt with high ceilings. Sometimes b&bs can feel cramped, but this one felt spacious.

The first morning the cooked breakfast was on time. and as ordered, but quite greasy. The second morning we ordered eggs on toast instead. It was 30 minutes late (not ideal as we had a train home to catch) and the eggs were undercooked, with shell visible, so didn’t eat it. I did have the yogurt, fruit and muesli instead. The host said she was lacking help with breakfasts and possibly had personal circumstances. I agree with other comments to offer more continental options, if struggling with cooked breakfast, at times when having staffing issues.

My second stay at Cornerways, and it was perfect again. The hosts are very welcoming, helpful, and lovely to chat with. The property itself is ideally located, within walking distance to the centre, shops etc. Tastefully decorated throughout including the rooms, they’ve done a great job on this. I stayed in the room with a private bathroom and it was great, had everything I needed, great shower and the bed was super comfy meaning I got a good night’s sleep. Breakfast was a welcome treat at the start of the day and it was delicious too. A big thank you to the hosts, I am looking forward to coming back.

This is a lovely b&b, however personal matters disrupted my stay.

The bed was uncomfortable. Needs examining.

We arrived for a 2 night stay. The owner seemed a little agitated. We were given a parking permit & breakfast choice sheet, with our name & room number already completed. She was insistent we chose a specific time for our breakfast as she was cook & waitress. The entrance hall & stairs were clean. The bedroom & en suite were a good size, clean & the beds comfortable. Next morning we arrived in the dining room where others were sat. Cereal etc. was available for self service. The yoghurt was at room temperature & not pleasant. The clearly flustered owner then appeared,& complained guests had completed their breakfast sheets incorrectly with the wrong names & room numbers so confusing her & making the service difficult. I tried to help by sorting the sheets at which point I was asked whether I could cook & would I help in the kitchen. I declined. The service was a disaster with no one getting their food of choice. When we returned that evening there was a note from the owner apologising that she had gone/was going to hospital and that breakfast would not be available the next morning. She left £15 cash per room as a refund for the breakfast, whether there was 1 or 2 people in the room. For some reason, there was only £10 for us. We think the owner is either unwell or unable to cope with the demand of cooking & serving multiple guests. Whether a cook would help is anybody's guess. Unfortunately, we would not recommend staying here and hope the owner gets the appropriate help.

Adell is a superb host. She operates one of the most charming and lovely guesthouses I've ever visited. Her place is super clean, well run and Adell makes sure everything is just so. Our breakfasts on both mornings were wonderful, hearty and tasty. She creates a pleasant atmosphere in the breakfast room. We had a wonderful conversation with other guests while eating breakfast. If/when I travel to Carlisle again I will certainly stay the Cornerways Guest House. I highly recommend this place.

I can't think of anything to be critical of. I am an experienced traveler. I have high expectations and a critical eye for poorly operated hotels, B&B's and Inns. There is truly nothing bad about Adell's place.

What a superb place. Lady that runs it is so knowledgeable about the local area and where to go and eat. She has taken great care of the building and it shows.

‘‘s ochtends te horen gekregen dat ontbijt verviel en dat we zouden gecompenseerd. Na 2 maanden en meerdere herinneringen is dat nog steeds niet gebeurd! Schijnt vaker te gebeuren. De bejegening ter plekke en ook bij de herinneringen is niet prettig.

The bathroom mirror was placed too high to be of any use to short people.

Room was lovely, spotlessly clean. Shower took a while to heat up but was okay once heated. Bed comfortable. Location good approx 10mins walk from station. 5 mins from centre, cathedral, museums, bars and restaurants.

Breakfast although looked nice was very greasy. Mushrooms and tomatoes cold. Fruit juice was fizzy?

In single room no window except for a glazed fire exit. TV lacked several channels.

We enjoyed our overnight stay in the Cornerways Guest House. It was easy to find and we were given a parking disc to park near the guest house which was very helpful as the road system in Carlisle is seeing a lot of change into a more pedestrian friendly city, but parking in the centre seems very difficult. The breakfast was excellent. I imagine that the owners have had trouble with previous guests as there were quite a few notices about what was allowed and what wasn't.

At times the shower didn't seem to have a lot of water power in comparison with some other places but that wasn't really a problem.

Owners very friendly,great central location, free on street parking with permit, good sized very clean room,good hot and cold breakfast selection. Would certainly recommend this guest house.

La proprietaria molto gentile e disponibile, la stanza pulita e molto grande, letto comodo e posizione a 5 minuti a piedi dal centro

Avevamo prenotato una stanza con bagno privato esterno: il bagno però non aveva una chiusura a chiave dall’esterno, quindi chiunque poteva entrare dal corridoio. Su 4 giorni che siamo stati lí, per 2 mattine quando ci siamo alzati abbiamo trovato un’altra persona che stava facendo la doccia nel bagno che sarebbe dovuto essere nostro privato.

We had a room in the attic which was weird and wouldn’t recommend. The shower dribbled, the water was only lukewarm. The host was very friendly but sadly due to personal circumstances she didn’t provide breakfast.
