Everything! An amazing stay.
The location is perfect. It is in the heart of town within walking distance to all of the onsens, shopping, restaurants and train station. The property is beautiful and very authentic.
Beautiful, nice breakfast and friendly staff able to speak in english.
Beautiful Ryokan and excellent service. We were given beautiful Yukatas to wear for the Onsen. Super convenient for the train station and Onsens. Beautiful view from our room. My favorite stay of my trip.

Le style traditionnel le service j’ai tout aimé
The location was excellent, near the centre of this pretty onsen town and short walk from the station. The kaiseki (banquet meal) served in our room was very tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Entry to the many onsen (hot spring baths) and use of a kimono was include in the hotel stay.
The meals included top quality ingredients but this did make the overall package quite expensive. This was the only negative point about to our stay, but I'm glad we did it once.

+ Staff did their very best to be acommodating to us eventhough there was a language barriere very often (only 1 staff member was fluent in English). Everyone was polite and friendly. + private spa was really nice + kaiseki was high quality and delicious + sleeping on futon was surprisingly very comfortable + location excellent, near the train station and konbini + Thank you very much for the service!!!
- Everything was very clean and it is not the fault of the staff and their cleanliness, but unfortunately there was a cockroach im our closet. - maybe for some people the kaiseki can be too much or overwhelming (since it is really really a lot of food) - no window or view But overall there was nothing to critisize :)
Modernt, men samtidigt traditionellt ryoukan.
Ingenting!
New, clean, exceptional service, exceeded expectations. Loved our stay thank you!
It was our first stay at an onsen ryokan. My family of four adults had a lovely time. The staff were very nice and attentive. We opted to have the kaiseki dinner and breakfast, and the meals were served in a private dining room. While we enjoyed the kaiseki meals (very fresh seafood and a variety of traditional Japanese faire) , it was a lot of food for one person to finish. Being our first-time to use an onsen, we appreciated that you can reserve any one of the two onsens on the property for private use. Ichidaya also stored our luggage after check-out which allowed us to explore this onsen town a little bit longer. Walking along the river at night in our yukatas and hearing the click-clacks of our getas as we strolled was definitely an experience we will always remember! We would have loved to stay another night if our schedule had allowed.
Nothing -- we had a lovely time.
Amazing stay right in the heart of Kinosaki. The staff is so nice and the accommodation were very comfortable. We had the Kaiseki one night it was delicious but an enormous amount of food. The town has some great restaurants but hardly anything was open on a Thursday night so be prepared if you expect to just show up and find dinner
Our experience at Ichidaya was fantastic. The staff were very kind and helpful. The room was just magnificent. We had a traditional Japanese room by the river. The location was superb. There are 2 in-house private onsen. They also have a coffee machine downstairs and icecream in the freezer for patrons. My daughter and I highly recommend Ichidaya as a place to stay.
Everything was fantastic
Private baths were really nice and easy to use, rooms were super clean and staff accommodating
Central in town. Staff were amazing. Room was beautiful and tradition.
Nothing
Greeted by friendly staff who gave us an explanation of everything for the onsen baths. Very clean and comfortable facilities.
None.
Great to experience the Japanese Onsen culture and staying at a ryokan. This included wearing a traditional Yakuta and Geta (wooden sandals). Also liked the private Onsen included with our stay.
Bit of a walk to get to the furthest onsens, but well rewarded once there.
Serene and comfortable. Staff was exceptionally kind and attuned to our needs.

All the staff is very nice Vietnamese girls very kind
Everything was amazing at this hotel 100% would recommend it. food was fantastic service was spot-on The room was stunning Onsen was clean and relaxing They had beautiful yukata for the woman and they even helped me to put the yukata on correctly.
Overall a great location it's walking distance from train station and next to shops and restaurants. They even held our bags after checkout so we could wander around the next day. The room came with dinner and breakfast, and it was delicious. It was a traditional meal with so many courses, we counted 10 for dinner. We ate downstairs in their dining area, it was perfect. We all got our own yukata robes to wear around town with wooden sandals, but you can wear your own . I suggest you bring our own as wooden ones are not the most comfortable. Purchase at this hotel gets you entrance to all 7 bathhouses. We loved going around the nearby shops and bars in the evening after dinner. Beds are very comfortable and they even put a pot of ice water in our room for the evening, which was a wonderful touch. Note, our room was on the 3rd floor with many stairs. Something you should keep note of if you have mobility issues. People mentioned the noise level in the reviews, yes you can hear hustle and bustle of town but it was worth it. We would return again. This place is a gem!
The place looks beautiful, the breakfast is delicious.
The place was very noisy. The railroad crossing is next to the ryokan, which means the alarm is on very often. Also, we could hear the staff running into the stairs very late and early, all day long.
The meals were too over the top - it’s not possible to eat so much food. They should consider food waste when deciding how much to serve people. The staff’s English capabilities were limited. The location is right near both the street and the train tracks which meant it was noisy when trying to sleep.
Very nice personnel. Good japanese breakfast, and onsen availability was good. Small establishment that, while modern, gives a feeling of authenticity.
Yukatas tend to be to small, and so it was here, too. Trains and the train gate especially make frequent noise, although not between 23-7.
Location was good and was next to the main street and next to one of the 7 public onsens. They provided yukata, baskets and shoes for going to the public onsens. Staff was polite.
It was stated but not very clear in the booking.com page that the shower was a shared facility so we missed this detail. As the shower facility is together with the private onsen, it has to be booked and they limit the time to 45min for using the shower and private onsen which made it very restrictive and inconvenient. Also the parking facility was very far, and we needed to pay for it and only until 11am. Check-out was at 10am, whereas we were only able to check-in at 3pm the day before. The futon beds were also not very comfortable. For the price paid, it was not very worth it. Staff was very polite, but English was limited so it was hard to understand her. If you are looking for a very special and memorable stay with good service and facilities, this is not the one..
Great location, excellent staff, delicious food.
1. Near to train station. 2.In house Onsen. 3.Complimentary coffee/ice cream/yoghurt at lobby.
1. Meals are expensive. 2.Although fresh yukata/towels are changed daily, it would have been better to make the beds , clean the rooms.
The location was fantastic, and the room was very clean and comfortable. They let us borrow an umbrella for our walk to the train station.
We could hear the other guests walking around above us, but it wasn't a big deal.
The location was perfect as my mom had weak knees and couldn't walk much from the station. We also ordered the breakfast halfway and they accommodated us for last minute order and the food served was amazing! Travelled in a big group with a family of 6 and they helped set up the rooms to be opposite each other for a closer bond.
I wasn't sure if anyone spoke English there as we understood Mandarin and I spoke Japanese. Not something that I didn't like but writing for other travellers who don't speak both.
The service, the friendliness of the staff, the food - all were really excellent. One can also enjoy two private onsen in the house. Also, the location is great, since it's only a few meters to the next public onsen.
It was quite hard to cope with the amount of food one is being served with. Too much for European stomachs. :-)
This was the perfect place for an authentic stay in Kinosaki. The location allows for you to visit all seven onsen, the rooms were spacious and clean, and, best of all, the dinner and breakfast were tasty feasts. Both meals took place in our room, where staff cleared the area and then served us several courses of delicious food. We were lucky to be in town during the famous crab season and enjoyed both crab and shabu shabu tajima beef for dinner. After dinner, the space was cleaned and our tatami beds were set up in the evening. We didn't stay around to watch, of course, because post-dinner onsen is a must! We had such a thrill walking around town in the yukata that were provided by the hotel and also appreciated the umbrellas they gave us to shelter from the light mist. Ichidaya is a great spot for anyone looking for a hotel that balances the freedom of visiting all that Kinosaki has to offer (we also made it to Onsen-ji, up to the top of Mt. Daishi, and visited several shops) while also experiencing the magic of ryokan hospitality.
Really liked our room, staff very welcoming.
All the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The facilites were clean. It was a wonderful traditional ryokan stay. There are private onesens available. The breakfast and dinner were great and such good value.
The room was spacious and beautiful, clean and the futons were surprisingly the best sleep I’ve had so far in Japan.
The staff! As a foreign couple, we felt alienated and treated badly. An older female staff member particularly was really rude and dismissive of us, at one point she told the younger staff members not to let me use the bathroom to get changed in. We felt so uncomfortable and almost pushed out of our room in the morning so they could mice the futons. Ruined the serenity of staying somewhere so calm and peaceful.
A Ryokan experience to enjoy complete with extraordinary Kaiseki for dinner (Crab and Tajima beef )and breakfast Wonderful hot baths which you can book and enjoy up to three times during your stay Wonderful location on the canal Rooms are spotless
The futon bed is hard but expected for Ryokan experience
The dinners and breakfasts were over the top, both in quality and volume. In fact, there was far too much food. The room was spacious and the AC worked well (important in September in Japan). Good proximity to everything in Kinosaki and close to the station.
The futon beds were (as usual at ryokans) very uncomfortable. It takes a couple of days to recover.
This traditional ryokan delivered on an amazing and unique experience enjoyed by my family of 4 (2 teen boys, 14 and 18). The location of Ichidaya was ideal, 5 min walk from the train station and in the heart of the town. The 5 course dinner served in our traditional room was delicious and was followed up by an equally delicious traditional Japanese breakfast in the room the next morning. The town is stunning, though we were lucky enough to be there during the peak of the cherry blossoms. Don't miss the Kinosaki Ropeway, a cable car to the top of the mountain with a beautiful view and a visit to the Buddhist temple there
good location
We stayed at 四季香る宿いちだや in Kinosaki. for one night. It was a nice & small hotel and we felt welcomed and enjoyed the meal hotel provided very much. The staffs were friendly although they can only speak a little English but we did not feel any inconvenient or unpleasant at the first until the moment we checked out. We asked the owner who sat in the front desk if we can leave our luggage in their hotel until our next hotel pick us up at 2pm. But the hotel owner refused, therefore we had to sit down at their lobby to make a call to our next hotel in the same town to see if they can come and pick us soon since we have 4 suitcase and it is inconvenient to take them with us when we walk around the town. There was a coffee machine in the lobby for the guests so my husband went to pour a cup of coffee. Just when my husband touch the cup, the hotel shout us and told us that we can't sit at their lobby or drink their coffee once we had checked out. It was 10am and we just checked out. There were 2 female guests sitting next to us also just checked out. They looked scared and run out of the hotel. We felt insulted and being thrown into the street. My husband was pissed and went back to hotel to talk to the owner. After that, the owner agreed to keep our luggage until 2pm. This is our first time being treated this way and we felt unbelieved. Never say that our next hotel is also in Kinosaki and their service is beyond excellent. They even sent a car to pick us up without extra charge and allow us to have early check in. In Sum, this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed and we will never never recommend it to other friends.
My hubby, dad, and I have never stayed in a ryokan or visited a Japanese onsen before, so we didn't know what to expect. We chose this onsen/ryokan purely because of the menu ( I have some dietary restrictions that make travel in Japan tricky). But, I liked the location of the onsen (only a 5 minute or so walk from the Kinosaki-onsen train station) and was relatively easy to find. English only speakers: not a lot of English spoken here. There was mostly gesturing and pointing, so treat as adventure. The sign on the outside is only in Japanese, but when we poked our heads inside, they were very kind and super helpful. The lady behind the counter is all business, but gracious as long as you were polite. The gals that served the food and made up our room were exuding hospitality and were super friendly....even in spite of our language barrier. The room was plenty big for us three adults and the linens and robes they gave us to wear were very comfortable. The private on site onsen were very clean and well kept. We enjoyed the premises quite a bit. The food was amazing: huge crab, sashimi that was very fresh, many soups and other nibbles as well as shabu shabu. Dinner is right on time at 1800, so don't be late. Breakfast was equally as plentiful with Japanese omelet, miso, rice porridge, salmon in foil, and some other nibbles. I wanted a Japanese experience...and I feel like we had a great one. I feel like the other reviews did not give this place enough credit....but of course I have nothing to compare with. All I can say is we were so happy with the food and service that we wanted others to visit there too.
