Cathy was really welcoming and her doggies were too ♥️♥️ the room was big and the bed was really comfortable! I absolutelly loved being greeted in the morning by the doggies... they are so well behaved and so sweet. I was there as I was attending a dance weekend in the Kilfort arms Hotel. And the location was just perfect!! Little Walk to it which I loved! I really enjoyed it and next time when the weekend is on again I am hoping to stay again!! 😊😊
There was nothing that I didnt like!
Cathy and her docs are so wonderfull! And there home is very comfortable and warm and cozy 💕
The host is awesome and super attentive. I loved meeting her rescue dogs. Bed was great! The house has a lot of character -- original house from the 50s!
Shared bathroom, but it was cleaned daily.
I really enjoyed my stay. Lovely room and great location. Host was very friendly and helpful. Hope to be back next year!
Our host was friendly and helpful and ensured all our needs were met loved her dogs as I’m a dog lover myself a short stroll to centre
Couldn’t fault this property
Cathy is a wonderful host, very friendly, welcoming and accomodating. Lovely to have a chat and a tea with. The room was very spacious and comfortable with everything I needed. The dogs were very sweet and only a little bother first thing in the morning. There is a bus outside that takes you down into town, which is only a 15mins walk anyway, but you need cash for the bus.
The only issue with the dogs was the noise on their way down in the morning, otherwise they were fab and so sweet!
Cathy was the best (together with her lovely dogs) She has a beautiful house, the bed super big and comfortable. She was very nice and helpful (even before we arrived) We recommend 100% and hope to come back soon!
A wonderful experience Cathy is a warm and friendly host and gave me great tips on what to do in Kilkenny. We shared many chats over tea and coffee beside the cosy Aga together with her beautiful 7 rescue dogs. I honestly felt like I was visiting a friend. I will definitely be back. I was a solo female traveller and felt so secure and safe here. The room is very large and spacious with a big mirrored wardrobe and another huge mirror great for doing hair and make up. Good literature in the room of what to do in Kilkenny. Big comfortable bed. Clean cosy and big enough so that I could do my yoga in the room whilst seeing myself in the mirrored wardrobe. You have your own entrance which looks out onto the gorgeous gardens. You have a full set of keys to the room both doors and also the padlock key because the gated entrance is locked due to keeping her pets safe from the road. It is important to give an estimate of time of arrival so make sure you have her telephone number and keep in contact with Cathy and text her or ring her because the dogs may be out in the garden so when you arrive let her know so that she can let you in and keep the dogs safe. There is ample room outside the gates to wait safely off the road. if wanting to arrive early or later just keep in contact as she is very accommdating but just needs to know. I felt even more secure with the gate locked and the house well in off the road so quiet and peaceful. You can walk around the garden and see Kilkenny Castle in the near distance. It was actually not far to the centre 5 minutes to matt the millers pub then another few minutes up to the castle walkable through the pleasant riverside walk through peace park. You are also next to a 24 hour garage for drinks and snacks. You cater for your own breakfast there is a shelf in the fridge provided for your use. There is an air fryer and tea/coffee provided. Excellent stay I highly recommend.
Нам дуже сподобалось. Чисте, охайне житло. Господиня дуже привітна. Ми любимо тварин , собаки були дуже дружелюбні. Ми рекомендуємо це житло.
No breakfast because we got there at 3 and found a locked gate with several dogs barking. We waited 2 hours in the heat and nobody came.We had to book another hotel and lost that money

Cathy is very pleasant and accomodating. The dogs are wonderful and really add to the place.
Nothing
The lady was very dog friendly, her dogs were very approachable and welcoming. The house was very vintage and antique and was in lovely condition. She had the bedroom spotless. The wifi connection was handy as there was no television. The shower was private and near the bedroom. The cost of the room was very affordable.
Would have liked if there was a television but the internet was sufficient.
The property was in a lovely place. Owner was professional and helpful. I enjoyed my stay .
Everything. A nice 15-20 min walk to town with different routes to take. The room was amazing. Very peaceful. Cathy the owner was so so nice, the dogs (7 if them) great. Felt very comfortable/welcome.
I didn't have long enough there.
Cathy is lovely , a very kind, nice, warm person.
Would have preferred to know more about the 7 dogs before I stayed, but they are very nice dogs; just there are rather a lot of them.
The location was excellent. 15 min walk from city centre. Bus route outside the door. Bus/ train located nearby also. Very convenient. The host was warm and welcoming and assisted me when I required guidance. Car parking in a beautiful garden setting.
I was very happy with my stay.
I absolutely loved my time staying at Cathy's place! I received a warm welcome despite my late evening arrival and felt at home right away. The room was spacious and I appreciated having my own entrance to the house. The bathroom was very clean and everything worked as expected. Cathy was helpful in providing suggestions for what to do and where to go in town, and of course all the dogs were a delightful added bonus. Cathy clearly loves to host and I was so grateful to have a homestay experience in Ireland; it was truly special and I would love to come back again.
Nothing! :)
Cathy was an amazing host! Lovely, friendly, and was always willing to put on the kettle. The dogs are very friendly, if a bit excitable. I felt very welcomed, had my own space when I needed it, and was conveniently close to the city but far away enough for quieter nights.
I loved everything, but if you’re not a dog person it’s not the stay for you!
Cathy was a wonderful host and the room was warm and cozy. She went above and beyond to make sure that I felt comfortable and welcome. She had great advice for things to do and places to eat during my stay.
Location was great - easily accessible to town centre on foot. Friendly host and dogs and convenient separate entrance to room. Kitchen available for use with storage in fridge if required with access to the kitchen and tea/coffee available 24 hours.
Listing said bathroom was shared - in fact it was just for our use, which was a nice surprise - only slight detracting point was having to walk through hallway to get to the bathroom but not a problem from our perspective.
Our host Cathy was fantastic. Our trip started out very stressful with major flight issues. We even lost a day of our trip. As soon as we walked in her door, Cathy made it her mission to turn things around. We discovered we had "lost" hubby's CPAP mask. Cathy grabbed her phone and before we could blink, it was "sorted" as they say in Ireland and we had a plan to get a replacement. She had a list of places we could eat and places we might want to visit. Our room had everything we needed. The bathroom was down the hall which suited us perfectly. Cathy was ready with directions and advice as needed. We had a wonderful time visiting over tea with her. Cathy and her entourage of rescue dogs made us feel right at home and part of her family. They energetically greeted us each time we returned from an outing and put a smile on our faces.
Nothing. We knew in advance there would be a little walk into the city center and meals were not included so there wasn't anything we didn't like.
It's not far to walk into the centre of Kilkenny. I used taxis a few times to return to the accommodation and they were not expensive for the short distance. This is a very friendly place. Cathy has some rescue dogs and it was lovely sitting in the kitchen having a cuppa tea with my host and having a dog put his head on my lap. This place felt very homely, like I was staying with a friend that I just hadn't met before. Some mornings I'd have a dog waiting for me at my bedroom door! The house has big dense trees in front of it and that made for a very quiet peaceful night's sleep. The room was very large and the bed supremely comfortable.
Nothing.
Cathy was an amazing host. We loved having conversations with her over a cup of tea and being surrounded by cute puppies. The bed was super comfy and we slept like a rock. The bathroom (and bedroom) are spotless. The location is great as well, very walkable. We very much enjoyed our time with Cathy :)
There was nothing I did not like. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Cathy is the most wonderful host, and welcomed us into her beautiful home. From the minute we arrived, with loads of cuddles from all the fur babies to many a cups of tea in the cosy kitchen in front of the aga. The King size bed was comfy and room tastefully decorated. The home was spotlessly clean. Cathy's home is just a short walk to all the beautiful sights of Kilkenny. Secure parking in the yard, was great.
That we only had 2 nights, will definitely return.
Cathy is so accommodating. The Garden is so well kept and lovely to be able to sit outside. Close to City. Enjoyed the company of the dogs..
I'd not booked for longer 😞
We had a fabulous stay at Cathy's. The house is very close to the center of Kilkenny - a short walk, really, We also had free parking. The room was big and the bed very comfy. The room has its own entrance on the side of the house so we felt we could come and go as we pleased without fear of disturbing anyone. Cathy has 7 ADORABLE rescue dogs in her house, They are super well behaved and I really enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee with her in the mornings, chatting away and petting the dogs. Thank you for being such a great host, Cathy!
The geographic status and above all the atmosphere and Cathy so attentive, genuine and very interesting lady! Her dogs are lovely
To not be there longer
Bedroom Comfortable Bed Great Bathroom Very short walk to Bars Restaurants Kilkenny Castle and other historical sites. Fantastic Host lots of conversations and laughs and many dogs you can pat and play with. If you are not a dog lover this isn't the place for you.
Cathy was a great host and went out of her way to make us welcome
The bathroom was not ensuite
Kathy was real helpful and kind, and helped us whenever we needed assistance. The location of her place is in a perfect spot for walking in to town, great landscape area, and plenty of food establishments. There was a great Pub down the street called, The Nore Pub. Loved this B&B.
Nothing
Location was excellent Owner was friendly.
I didn’t like having dog poo in the bathroom. Didn’t like not having tea and coffee facilities in the room.
Centrally located a short walk to the city centre , lovely room and host . The owner was very friendly and gave good recommendations and advice. Would stay again
Booking here was the best decision I made on my trip in Ireland. You can walk anywhere in Kilkenny from this location so it makes a great base to enjoy the town. The house is charming and my room was massive, but the best part of my stay was Cathy and the dogs. Traveling solo becomes lonesome at times, so it was lovely waking up in the morning and coming home in the evening to conversation and pets for the dogs. I really am grateful to Cathy for how welcoming she was to me.
Spotless bedroom & bathroom! Hosts were really helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking and the dogs are super friendly also!
Cathy was very accommodating and the hospitality we received from her and the dogs was nothing short of pleasant. It was a quiet place, we had good rest and good conversation with everyone in the house, and the place was convenient for walks to the city centre and to other attractions.
Nothing
The fact that we did not know that the owner collected and looked after stray dogs (9 of them at the time we were meant to stay). We were advised to lock the door to our room as the dogs could push the door in the morning. This is a very basic property. The owner knew we were coming but hadn't put the heating on prior to us arriving, this didn't add to the appeal when we arrived. There are no tea or coffee facilities although the owner did say we could just ask and she would make us a coffee or tea.
it was a relaxing stay in a perfect location- easy access to the bus and easy walking to the town centre. We enjoyed sitting outside on the swing in rhe late afternoon, with the dogs providing good company and entertainment. The grounds provided a beautiful, private setting with Cathy being within easy reach if we needed her.
There was nothing that we didn't like.
Incredibly kind, warm & thoughtful. I was exhausted on arrival, had caught a cold & they went above & beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Lovely people, adorable dogs & a beautiful home in a great location, easy walk to everything in Kilkenny. Simply lovely.
Easy access to city centre, safe parking, friendly host.
Great location, comfortable room, quiet grounds and exceptional host.
Nothing
I loved the design of the room, its very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The house is in a peaceful location. The hosts were very kind and welcoming and helpful and friendly. I was visiting from abroad and it was so nice to recieve the famous "irish welcome".
The two of us had a wonderful time staying in a large, clean room with garden views. The host is a treasure - warm, friendly, generous and helpful. Staying in this well located house on a big block of land made Kilkenny the highlight of our Irish trip. The dogs are delightful and well behaved.
Nothing
The proximity to the city centre. The people and owner were friendly. The room was big and the bed comfortable...
To be Fair neither of us are dog lovers.(At least 4 dogs)..I didn't think they would be in the house all the time ..when we were in our room...and we were sharing the bathroom which was down a hall from our room ..(we knew this when we booked).very often the dogs were outside the bedroom door when you opened it to go to the bathroom..(its a pity it hasn't an ensuite).the dogs were also barking from about 8am in the morning...but we're stopped fairly quickly..at the same time it annoying when your trying to sleep on when your on a breakaway...
Dogs, dogs, dogs, dogs, as I fellow rescuer, I absolutely loved staying here and interacting with the rescued dogs. Kilkenny has been the cherry 🍒 on the top of my cake on my Ireland trip. My stay with Cathy and Kate has been wonderful. The room is absolutely gorgeous. Love the antiques. Cathy was very helpful with advice on where to go to. She was very welcoming with her home baked bread and cups of tea.
Nothing
Cathy is amazing in every way. So welcoming and lovely and helpful. Because of her warmth and hospitality I had the best time!
Everything was wonderful ❤️
The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and the room was spacious, clean and very comfortable.
Nothing
Loved our stay so much, our hosts were absolutely wonderful and gave us amazing tips for the city and surroundings. The dogs were super friendly and welcoming. The house and our room were beautifully decorated, so many little details that gave it character. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept like babies.
Didn’t bother us but worth noting the bathroom is accessible from a common hallway so there is a chance of running into the hosts or dogs on your way to and back.
Cathy is an exceptional host and an exceptionally kind human being. She and her niece Kate were both so hospitable and made me feel very welcome. They offered me food, drinks, and even arranged a trip to the reptile museum which I thoroughly enjoyed. The rescue dogs all have very sweet temperaments and getting to pet them was an added bonus :P the location was great, a short walk from the city centre, and the room was very clean and excellent value for money.
1. Close to city centre. 2. Separate access to the room from patio door. 3. Hosts were pleasant and good communicators.
1. Dogs barking, especially when I was going to the bathroom down the hall. The dogs would be at my feet as I was leaving the room. Made going to the bathroom unpleasant. 2. Had to get out of the car to unlock (and again to lock) the gates to the property. 3. Had to contact the host before opening the gates (for fear that the dogs may get out onto the street). 4. No tea making facilities in the room. 5. The house had a strong dog odour.
Hosts (Cathy & Kate) are extremely kind, supportive, cooperative and humble. I would never meet pretty ladies like them. House Facilities are in a great condition. Location is too close from the city center, historical places, and shopping malls. I can not find words to express my gratitude regarding the stay, and the house owners. Dogs are very beautiful and kind. People shall find happiness there. I believe that all travelers would repeat their stay there. Thank you for everything :)
Nothing. All was perfect. Clean place, easy access for all places. too kind people. warm place. clean areas. Free WiFi. Hot water all time.
Beautiful large room with a wood burning stove , french doors to the garden lovely comfortable king sized bed great hosts and of course cute doggies 🐕
Cathy and Kate were amazing hosts. Giving you space of needed, but also invited you to a tea and a little chat in the kitchen. Felt like home and they made sure that you felt comfortable anytime. The dogs made the stay unforgettable for me. Well behaved and always there if you wanted to cuddle them. Could not recommend this place enough!
Nothing! Wish i could have stayed longer
Within walking distance of downtown Kilkenny. A nice relaxing walk over the river. The hosts are wonderful, their dogs, great characters. If you are a dog person, it just adds to the stay.
Nothing, I hope to visit again, next time for a longer stay.
Cathy is a warm and welcoming host.
The hosts Cathy and Kate were wonderful and very friendly. We enjoyed chatting with them. They gave us recommendations on restaurants to try and what to see in Kilkenny. Our room was clean and comfortable. The shared bathroom was regularly cleaned too. This is an old house with very unique antique vibes. They have parking space if you are travelling by car. And the dogs! 9 of them!
The dogs were kept out of guests rooms but the common areas do smell strongly of dogs. I got used to it quickly and did not mind but obviously do not stay here if you don't love dogs.
Lovely garden bedroom with separate access. Owner friendly and offered many cups of tea !You would have to like dogs to stay here ,we do ,so it felt like a home from home.
Great location close to the town . Was made feel very welcome Cathy and Kate were very friendly and helpful . The dogs were great, very friendly . Our trip was to visit castlecomer Adventure Park, which was great fun . This was perfect for our stay.
There was nothing we didn't like. We would book again if you don't mind dogs it's a very comfortable stay .
The exceptionally warm welcome we received from Cathy and all the family pets. It was like being home from home, we could come and go as we pleased. It was comfortable and centrally located to take short walk into the centre and explore the sites. I fully recommend and will definitely stay again
The only thing we didn’t like was not being given a contact by Booking.com so that we could tell them we had arrived as the gate was padlocked and you never informed her until an hour and a half later. It was by pure chance the dogs were out in the garden and alerted Cathy we were there
A charming room with a character. Friendly host with great hospitality.
Perhaps there will be a working table in the room.
A wonderfully unique experience! Cathy and Kate were such great hosts who couldn't do enough for us! Lovely room with a great, big, comfy bed! Don't hesitate to book ......and the doggies were just great
Nothing! Exceeded our expectations
Cathy was very welcoming and the house was really nice to stay in.
