The Kilchrenan Inn

The dinner and breakfast that we booked at the inn were wonderful! Staying at an inn was a fun treat. The rooms were large and comfortable. We wish we could have stayed longer

The location was not in the actual town of Oban- we should have realized that and taken that into account.

Absolutely nothing

Very comfortable dog friendly country inn with well appointed modern rooms. Quiet location off the beaten track. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Food and drinks were very good and generally of an excelent standard.

No TV in room. Wi-fi however was very good so using iPads etc was no issue. We expected (especially given the room rate) that at least towels and coffees etc would be topped up daily. No service at all was provided during our stay. Breakfast is 8.30-9.00 every day and therefore on each day every room turned up at service start with all ordering at once rather than staggered sittings.

I liked that it was off the beaten track and in quite a remote location. Slightly hairy drive to get there. Proximity to lovely walks. Very lovely, friendly staff. Room was cosy and comfortable. Loved the bath. Breakfast was delicious.

Didn’t realise there were no staff on site through the night, I do not think this is safe. There was no TV, on holiday it is our guilty pleasure to watch TV from the bed!

Lovely room with lots of nice touches including bottled milk and Nespresso coffee machine. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the cascading waterfall nearby.

Staff were so lovely and accommodating, they made lots of effort with my kids which was lovely. Room was really comfy and clean. Lovely big bath which was great after a lovely day if traveling. The food in the restaurant was 👌🏻 we had dinner and breakfast and couldn't fault it.

A beautiful place, full of peace and openness. The high standard of the rooms harmonizes perfectly with the proximity of forests, mountains, and water. The staff are delightful, and the atmosphere is truly welcoming to dogs. My heart longs to return.

No one there to welcome or introduce us on arrival or at any time during the stay. No restaurant or bar open despite having read in reply to a question asked in their review that it would be after March.

Comfortable clean rooms and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Also had an evening meal which was excellent, great menu with some interesting options. Highly recommend for accommodation and/or meal.

De badkamer was ruim en er was een groot bad. De locatie is er rustig.

Het bed dat vermeld stond als 1 groot 2-persoonsbed was 130cm breed. Dat is amper een 2-persoonsbed te noemen. Er was bij ontvangst niemand; dat is op zich geen probleem, maar dit werd niet op voorhand gecommuniceerd. Verwacht niet dat je dichtbij Oban zit, want dit is niet het geval.

Nos llevamos una decepción ya que la habitación que nos dieron no coincidía con la habitación reservada y nos dijeron que la nuestra la habían dado a una familia y no podían ofrecérnosla a pesar de que fuera la de nuestra reserva. Culparon a booking lo cual nos pareció muy extraño, nunca nos ha pasado en años. El servicio de booking ha sido bueno y a pesar de que el alojamiento no se ha hecho responsable, nos han ofrecido un reembolso parcial. Una decepción porque nos salimos de nuestro camino para alojarnos aquí.

We were the only guests at the hotel so it was really quiet and peaceful. We arrived after 6pm and our keys were left for us. The room had a much appreciated king bed and was nicely decorated with good amenities. Breakfast was delicious and the host was friendly and welcoming.

We didn't realize at booking there were no TV's in he rooms. The narrow winding road to the hotel was an adventure.

There could be a couple of extra vegetarian options for dinner and breakfast. We didn't think to turn off the radiators in simmer, so got a sweltering wake up early on Saturday morning.

Comfortable, nicely decorated rooms with good facilities, and a good size. Lovely bar/restaurant with cosy vibe. A nice walk down to the loch before dinner. Great overnight stay here with friends visiting from Australia, which give them a taste of Scotland.

There were some big groups in the restaurant the night we were there, so a bit noisy at times.

It was cosy and very friendly

Beautiful location, very pastoral and sweet. The room was gorgeous - well furnished with updated design, spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen/dining area was adorable and they easily accommodated my gluten intolerance at breakfast.

A bit more remote (off the main road) than we realized. The in-room coffee maker (Krups/Nespresso) didn’t work, but we let the staff know.

Family friendly, rooms outstanding, so clean, so well decorated, lovely comfortable beds, linen, and towels. The location is so beautiful, with a creek flowing alongside the property. Easy parking, and felt very safe and secure. Outstanding staff, went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Also, if you go for dining, THE BEST food in scotland, unbelievably amazing dinner. Cosy, and honestly the best experience overall! The owners are so lovely and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. For those looking for a cosy, stylish Scottish inn filled with locals, this is it.

We loved the remote, cozy feeling of our stay. Driving into Oban was a simple drive and really staying at the Kilchrenan was the highlight of our time in the area. The sound of rain on the roof, the clean and inviting room. The cozy pub and friendly staff. It was really a wonderful time. Highly recommend.

Fabulous dinner & breakfast. Friendly staff, superb service. Comfortable, good size room. Great shower. Excellent facilities... coffee machine in room. Brilliant stay.

Busy road for cycling. Bike storage seemed safe, but it was just round back of building. Stretched our budget, a lovely treat, but have had better value elsewhere.

The Inn exceeded my expectations. Our room was wonderful. It was big and immaculately clean. Bed was very comfortable. Food was delicious and all the staff were welcoming and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had the most incredible stay at the Kilchrenan Inn. We booked due to the close proximity to a wedding we were attending at the village hall. I had a meal alone for the first night, and the person checking me in gave me a little table out of the way of the locals where I ate the scotch egg and mussels. I was blown away by the quality and enjoyed both equally. The breakfast (where do you get your haggis and black pudding from?!) was so delicious! And much needed whilst we helped with the preparations for the wedding and the poorly heads the next day. On to the room, we stayed in the double room, which included a bathroom with a proper bath and beautiful Arran Aromatics. They smelled so good! Lots of storage to hang our posh clothes in with compartments for shoes, clothes etc. The double bed was super comfortable, and we slept well both nights. Out the window, you can see horses galloping up the hill - so sweet! Parking was easy too with lots of spaces out the front. The best part was the staff. You really felt at home here. They seemed interested in what we were up to and made me feel comfortable to be dining alone. In the two nights we stayed, we saw an eagle, a heron, a stag walked across our path as we drove home one night, a pine martin and a red squirrel all within 20 minutes of the inn. Such a special place Thank you so much for a special stay - we couldn't have asked for a better trip and wish we could have stayed longer - would recommend to anyone visiting the area

Everything! The food was exceptional, the rooms were fabulous with great beds and the staff were fantastic. Our stay couldn't have been any better. They even made us "to go packs" with croissants and butter and jam because we had to leave before they served breakfast in the morning. Exceptional care and customer service.

Wir blieben für eine Nacht auf unserem Weg in die High Lands. Das Zimmer hat unsere Erwartungen voll erfüllt. Leider war der Pub geschlossen, aber diese Information haben wir im Voraus erhalten. Es kam also nicht überraschend und wir waren vorbereitet. Wir haben von den Gastgebern gute Empfehlungen für Restaurants in der Umgebung erhalten. Die sind leider nur mit dem Auto zu erreichen. We stayed for one night on our way to the High Lands. The room fully met our expectations. Unfortunately, the pub was closed, but we had been informed of this in advance. So it wasn't a surprise, and we were prepared. Our hosts gave us good recommendations for restaurants in the area. Unfortunately, these are only accessible by car.

Der Pub ist ausgesprochen gut bewertet. Montags und Dienstags hat er leider geschlossen, sodass wir uns davon nicht überzeugen konnten The pub has extremely good reviews. Unfortunately it's closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so we couldn't test it ourselves.

We liked absolutely everything, from the minute we walked in. Nicely greeted and shown to the very modern clean room. Lovely three course meal in the evening.

A superb little inn in the Highlands. Beautiful big room for us and our little dog. Very friendly staff with great communication about arrival and restaurant arrangements - as the inn does not serve evening meal on Mondays and Tuesdays. Amazing breakfast and phenomenal evening meal - one to remember - gorgeous mackerel pate with treacle soda bread! Fantastic place and so good to see it so busy with tourists and locals alike as it really is off the beaten track.

We stayed for dinner and I have been in catering for several years . The owner was the chef and the menu and food were the standard of excellent fine dining in London . The menu was imaginative , presentation to detail excellent , service very good and the food 5star.

The friendly welcome, the room was well finished and very comfortable. We dined in the bar in the evening and the food was delicious - as good as you’ll find from a fine dining restaurant. The breakfast was relaxed and beautifully presented. The Kilchrenan was welcoming and friendly as the visitors and locals enjoyed the relaxed buoyant vibe of this lovely venue.
