We loved the property and its history. Well managed and very professional staff. Tended to everyone’s needs.

We may not have reserved at Taychreggan had we known roads to / from were 10+ miles of winding / hilly single lane roads. A little stressful for someone not used to them

The suite we had was very clean and freshly decorated. The food was excellent and the staff were absolutely lovely.

We entered via the car park/rear entrance and it is very shabby. Also most of the common areas of the hotel are dated and tired. Sofas are old fashioned and general look is old.

We liked the food there better during our previous stays.

Sehr schöne Lage, direkt am Wasser. Essen ist sehr gut und weiterzuempfehlen. Man kann einen sehr entspannten Urlaub verbringen.

Die Fenster sahen nicht sehr einladend aus und könnten mal geputzt bzw. von Spinnweben befreit werden.

Hotel en pleine nature, au bord du Loch Awe, cadre magnifique. Cuisine du restaurant excellente et le chef s'est adapté pour faire un menu enfant. Les salons jeux billard permettent aussi de passer de bons moments.

Old and tired look inside. Dreadful state of outside, roof and former owner house and staff accommodation. Lots of old broken furniture about. Staff stretched and inexperienced. Get a good manager in, spend some money on the look of the place and you could get it back tonwhat it was in the 1980s when the Tetlow family owned and ran it. Mr T will be rotating at high speed in his grave !!

Magnifique vue sur le loch pour cet hôtel isolé. La chambre était spacieuse et la salle de bain immense, avec une magnifique baignoire. Le restaurant sur place, vu l'isolement, est un vrai plus. Enfin, quel plaisir de déguster un bon whisky dans un des confortables fauteuils du salon, en admirant la vue (bons conseils du serveur et prix très raisonnable)

The property was slightly dated in parts but refurbishment is ongoing . This is a property with character and set in beautiful tranquil surroundings .

Loved my room. It had a 6ft bed and spacious. Staff were lovely and friendly. Will visit again.

I think the staff were doing a great job and did there best to cope with shortage of staff and they ran out of a number of food options. It was a sunday.

Staff and location.

Minor detail...coffee at breakfast would be better served in thermos type jugs as cold by time cooked breakfast arrives. Final part of access is not good for drivers lacking confidence.

First two rooms we were given were awful - directly above laundry & really noisy. The third room was better, much quieter. Not good value for money as thought it was a B&B deal, but charged for breakfast. Hotel very run down

I have stayed at this location on many occasions and have celebrated many intimate and important occasions here with my partner. My previous experiences have always been exceptional, which is why we have continued to return. Unfortunately, our most recent visit, which was to celebrate my missus’s birthday and was particularly important to us, was extremely disappointing. The manager genuinely tried to ensure that everything was perfect, and we appreciated their efforts. However, the attitude and communication of one member of staff, Rebecca, particularly during the morning breakfast service, was completely unacceptable. We have never experienced such poor treatment at any hotel we have stayed at. The way we were spoken to and treated was disrespectful and left us feeling extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. This experience ultimately ruined what was supposed to be a special and romantic birthday trip, and we felt so disappointed that we decided to cut our stay short and leave immediately. It is particularly upsetting because we have previously held this hotel in such high regard and have returned repeatedly because of the wonderful experiences we had in the past. Unfortunately, after this visit, we are now seriously reconsidering whether we would ever return. I strongly recommend that management review this incident and address the staff member’s conduct appropriately. Guests celebrating important occasions should be made to feel valued, respected and welcome, and unfortunately that was not our experience on this occasion. Overall, we are extremely disappointed with the service we received and deeply saddened that what should have been a memorable birthday celebration was instead a very upsetting experience

Location is outstanding

Disappointed with dinner options. Not the fine dining experience we were expecting. More good bistro pub than 4 star hotel restaurant. Struggled to find anything I wanted on the very limited menu, I kept flippping the menu over looking for more options. They also closed the bar down at 10pm with little advanced warning.

We all liked everything. We received a warm welcome which continued throughout our stay. The staff were brilliant and looked after us all. The food was exceptional. The rooms had fabulous views over Loch Awe and were super comfy.

The location was fabulous being right on the edge of loch. Majority of staff lovely. Room and en suite large and airy. Comfortable bed. Food was good.

There was the odd indifferent member of staff who could do with cheering up a bit! Although the food was good, evening meal choice was limited with only one vegetarian option and no vegan. The hotel is sooo tired, I feel it is 'riding' on its historic reputation but now it needs a lot of money spending on it - some of the window frames are rotten. Outside all the furniture is old falling apart in places. Although the bathroom was large and clean the tub was old (excellent shower though). Bottom line - we think this hotel is hugely over priced, nothing in our stay warranted the price tag. We were really disappointed and do not believe this hotel offers value for money.

The room and location were absolutely beautiful. There were dogs balls and dog toys at the doors which put dogs absolutely love. Really dog friendly. Really friendly staff.

We had an issue in the night and staff were uncontactable. I tried calling the number listed and no one would answer. The food was not good quality for the price. Quite disappointing.

Très bel hôtel, au calme, avec une vue magnifique sur le Loch. La restauration est de très bonne qualité, le personnel est accueillant et les salons agréables.

L'hôtel est loin de tout, et la route pour y accéder est longue et mauvaise. Pas de chemins aux alentours pour se promener. Dommage.

The hotel was set in a beautiful location and our room was lovely. It was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and it was nice to have a table and chairs by the window to sit looking out at the loch. We were upgraded to a loch view room, which we were very pleased with. The staff worked hard and were very warm and friendly and we enjoyed our meal on the first evening of our two night stay.

Some of the outside and communal areas were a bit tired, especially the area you enter as you come in from the car park at the back. This didn't give a great first impression. There was nobody around when we went to check out. It would have been helpful for staff to be available during this time.

On arrival for an overnight stay on our cycle tour, the Taychreggan receptionist was very welcoming and quickly arranged secure storage for our cycles. Our room was very comfortable with excellent en-suite faclities. Dinner and breakfast were attentively served in the restaurant with a wonderful unobstructed view to the loch. The lounge, also overlooking the loch, provided a comfortable and quiet place to chat with friends who were also, unexpectedly, staying at the hotel.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful position on Loch Awe. Excellent friendly staff could not be faulted. Delicious food in Dining Room, breakfast could be improved. All in all a memorable stay and we hope to return one day.

Sadly our bedroom windows would not open due to being painted badly .. and it was hot and airless! A problem that can easily be solved.

Lack of service on arrival - room was difficult to find (beyond closed doors).

The only thing appealing about this hotel is the view onto the loch.

This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had, rooms are dreadful, soulless, lighting terrible, cold, noisy. Food was not good, expensive for what it was, staff not being led properly, no interest in customer care. The only thing this hotel has to offer is the amazing setting and view, everything else is not worth the price tag I’m afraid.

Stupenda location in riva al Loch, con un giardino tenuto benissimo e ben curato. Ci si arriva tramite una tipica strada scozzese ad una corsia sola con slarghi per far passare le altre macchine. Camera spaziosa e funzionale, aree comuni davvero suggestive, ottima colazione e cena ricercata. Tutto bene

The most beautiful location, peaceful and quiet.

The room we had needs some updating and the description of the room on Booking.com didn’t match the room we were given.

We didn’t manage to get any dinner the night we arrived (just after half 8 and the chef had already left). So that was quite disappointing after a long journey. I tried contacting the hotel to let them know of our arrival time and to check about food but didn’t get an answer, so risked it and turned up. Quite short staffed but the staff were lovely!

Only the location. The hotel is tired and not in any way comparable to any other country house getaway that I have experienced

Breakfast and service of such was diabolical. Cheap quality, Oily and just underwhelming. Other continental options consisted of a pot of yogurt and tinned fruits, the options were limited and poor. The staff member doing breakfast the first morning appeared untrained and inattentive. Table not set. No menus given. Then very poor food. Decided to eat elsewhere for breakfast for the remaining 3 days. Complaint raised but was not properly followed up with any clear compensation for such

Old and weathered. Not suitable for disabled people . Never anyone on reception and room keys just left on the desk for anybody to help themselves. Our room was getting wasps in all the time due to a hole in the bathroom window. It just didn’t not feel welcoming at all. To add to this I left ( no one on reception ) and got a phone call claiming I owed money for my meals that I paid for in cash.

Prachtig gelegen, charmant hotel. Zeer ruime slaapkamer met kingsize bed. Grote badkamer met dubbele lavabo, aparte douche en ligbad op pootjes. Ontbijtruimte met zicht op het meer. Op de benedenverdieping: gezellige bar en ontspanningsruimtes.

Hier en daar was het interieur opgelapt. De overloop kraakte soms vervaarlijk.

This hotel and the staff were beyong exceptional! We went for my birthday (got proposed to also whilst here) and they went above and beyond! Particularly shout out to members of staff Stuart, he is a gem

The location of this hotel - incredible The staff were amazing despite them managing many roles The room and bathroom were immaculate They communal areas were lovely, lots of places to sit , and some lovely little touches such as garden games, beach shoes for a lake paddle etc The grounds at the front were stunning The fire pits and seating area were perfect - I went with my best friend and we both agreed it was the best stay of Scottish Road Trip in terms of value and standards! We never ate there but the restaurant was busy. So peaceful and out of the way. I can see why this hotel won’t the most romantic hotel award !

There were so many comfortable and unique places to pass time, whether outside on the bench, in several sitting rooms, or in the pub area. Seating and atmosphere were lovely. Our bedroom was very large, comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast menu offered a great selection in addition to the available fruit, yoghurt, cereal and pastries. At dinner on Sunday we stayed in and enjoyed a fantastic roast meal that we still talk about as one of the best meals we have had. After dinner, we had a bonfire by the lake to watch the sun set and enjoy the quiet of the lake. Special thanks to Stewart who made our stay the best!

Checkout process

Excellent place to stay—peaceful and tranquil, making it the perfect place to unwind. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and nothing was ever too much trouble. It's also pet-friendly, which made our stay even better. We stayed in a cosy loch view room, and both the bedroom and bathroom were a fantastic size. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, making for a great night's sleep. We would happily return and highly recommend it.

The location is absolutely stunning with views over the Loch! The hotel is very dog friendly.

The property is looking very tired throughout, and in parts need some upgrades, cleaning and painting, the gardens need a serious amount of TLC. With the above this property would be absolutely stunning!

Beautiful charming building next to Loch Awe, the onsite restaurant was fantastic with amazing Scottish fare.

- location was very isolated. Be ready for a 7mile driveway just to reach the main road - wifi didn't work in the rooms so couldn't even watch tv. Even on the ground floor, only one corner had sufficient connection. This was a big disappointment and only communicated on a piece of paper at check in. - we stayed 4 nights and dined 3 times at the onsite restaurant. While the food was fantastic, service was lack lustre not just by restaurant staff but hotel staff in general. No effort was made for a more personalised service, even just asking what we had planned, since we were there for quite some time. At checkout our dining bill was wrong , as staff had added another table's orders to our bill. Hotel management should implement better billing practices like sign off at end of meal. - lack of activities except some board games and snooker table. Given the location next to the loch, they did not make better use of this advantage. - rooms were comfortable but dated especially the bathroom that felt like a hospital bathroom. Inconsistent housekeeping practices - sometimes towels were replaced, sometimes not. - Restaurant was great and the hotel may be ok for a one night stay but our 4 night stay felt too long and underwhelming.

Attent personeel. Op een klein probleempje met de afvoer (voor ons niet eens storend) werd door de schoonmaak zelf actie ondernomen, waardoor we een gratis update naar een veel mooiere kamer kregen. In één woord geweldig!

De laatste 12 kilometer gaat over een éénbaansweg, met passeerstroken, nogal wat onoverzichtelijke bochten en vrachtverkeer richting een steengroeve. Hier moet je wel goed opletten. De omgeving is dan wel weer schilderachtig.

Ghost feeling about staff presence outside of meals hours: no staff around if you have questions, you had to try to find staff at restaurant. Reception is empty most of the time. Staff was just doing their job, no sense of welcome or customer focused attitude: for an hotel of that standing, it is disappointing. (Some were just barely polite). After cleaning your room, they leave lights on the whole day: waste of energy. Beware of remote location, it takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach main road.

Location is stunning! Room was spacious. Great food. A little hike. Watched fifa match in the tv room. Playe some dart. Fireplace was cozy. Views were amazing. So good!

The location is absolutely stunning and a fantastic place to wake up to. Overlooking Loch Awe, rain or shine, this is just the most amazing place to visit, though be aware, that it’s approximately a 35 minute drive to Oban. For dog owners, this is great for them too. Last minute walks, or early wees, the front of the hotel is great and close for your four legged travelers. There’s also a bin for pet waste, tennis balls etc, so dogs are well catered for 😊

Ok, so the location is stunning, the room was great also, but parts of the hotel looked a little tired and could do with a freshen up. (But I’m being pedantic here; the location makes up for this)

The rooms were spacious and comfortable food was lovely. Had a full sized snooker table which was a nice surprise. The bar had a lot of choices to suit most people.

The hotel is in an excellent location. It is very dog friendly. The staff were friendly providing very good service. The breakfast was excellent and the evening meal was good. Excellent bar service too. The lounges are comfortable with beautiful views.

Nothing we didn’t like but we would have liked the radiators on including the towel rail.

De accommodatie was ronduit aan een grondige renovatie toe. Oud, versleten, niet meer van deze tijd. En daarbij het was het er vies, tafels plakken, vlekken in bankstellen en vloerbedekking, vloertegels in badkamer kapot en los. Aan de buitenkant rotte vensterbanken etc etc etc. Zelfs wifi was ronduit slecht

The rooms were basic at best - no character at all - we wandered in and had to ask where reception - a girl started to walk us there and then had a debate with another girl as to who should check us in … not welcoming at all - didn’t show us around- so as we were only there for 1 night - we missed some lovely lounges we could have chilled out in - we found them as we left the morning after - the chap behind the bar however was just great and made up for the others

Wedding party caused excessive noise until late in the morning in the room we were booked into. That could have been avoided. No wi fi in the room. Insufficient waiting staff at breakfast caused long delays.
