The staff were incredibly friendly, and both dinner in the restaurant and breakfast were excellent. The parking was very convenient, and the room, bed and bathroom were all spacious and comfortable.

The property is a little older, although it has clearly been updated in several areas. There wasn’t really anything that disappointed us during our stay.

Single bed in room had old, and poor sprung mattress unlike double which was ok - didn't get much sleep, and sheets were Polly cotton and really sweaty and clammy. TV was really old (TV guide didn't work) - No sockets in the room easily accessible to plug in chargers for phones and tablets, trailing socket was available under the desk on the wall if you crawled around. Place was unmanaged at night, and there is some complex code on the front door - really easy to get yourself locked out - no ring doorbell or intercom to call someone :( Breakfast was ok, poor quality ingredients (sausage / bacon) was really disappointing seeing how great the restaurant food was in the evening. Bread was wafer thin, and not suitable for toasting - pastries were vacuum sealed and mass produced - again disappointing, would of expected the kitchen to at least part bake something.

We were put into the one of the rooms outside ( similar to a motel room) so could hear the traffic passing by all night, the bed was comfy and once the heater was on the room was cozy enough. The toilet seat was loose and there was black mould on the ceiling of the bathroom around a vent. The blinds were broken. Went over for breakfast and couldn't even get into the place, another couple also the same and had to actually ring the hotel to let us in, not what you expect from a hotel! The hotel is in the middle of nowhere and the bar shut when the restaurant did, so couldn't even sit and have drinks after our meal so unless you want to take a taxi into the centre you are quite isolated and if we had known this before we booked we would have stayed somewhere else.

We were housed in an old lodge type annex which was vey dated and felt excluded from the main building!

Passcode to get into property late at night did not work… we banged on the door for about 20 minutes until finally another resident let us in… he had also had problems getting in…this place is dark and remote so we were completely stuck as we had been at a wedding at another location. The place certainly wasn’t 4 star… dirty bathroom,in-ironed bedding…

Das Zimmer war sehr geräumig, leider zur Straße ausgerichtet. Daher haben wir nachts indirekt über das Bad mit offenen Fenstern gelüftet. Das Bad war größer als erwartet und hatte eine Dusche in der Badewanne. Das Zimmer ist wie etwa die Hälfte aller Zimmer über eine Treppe in das OG zu erreichen. Das Frühstückspersonal tat alles, um uns den Start in den Tag so angenehm wie möglich zu machen.

Gleich am ersten Tag sprachen wir beim Personal einen evtl. Wechsel des Zimmers an, da uns dieses auf Grund der nahen Landstraße zu laut war. Die Kollegin sprach mit dem Manager des Hotels und sagte uns, das ab Montag ein Wechsel möglich sei und dabei mehrere Zimmer zur Auswahl stehen würden. Am Montag reisten sehr viele Gäste ab und alle Türen standen offen, so dass man einen Blick hinein werfen konnte. Ein Zimmer für unsere Ansprüche hätte es im OG gegeben, mit Fenster zur ruhigen Rückseite, wo die Wiese ist. Zum Tausch angeboten wurde uns aber ein viel kleineres Zimmer, mit nur einem viel kleineren Bett wieder zur lauten Straße. Auf unsere Frage, warum wir dieses Zimmer und nicht das ruhige bekommen könnten, sagte uns die Dame: "Das hat der Manager so entschieden." Dieses Zimmer war natürlich für uns keine Alternative, so blieben wir die ganze Woche im alten lauten Zimmer. Wenn das Hotel wirklich an unserem Wohlbefinden interessiert gewesen wäre, hätten sie uns das ruhige Zimmer geben können. Die neuen Gäste hätten dann unser altes Zimmer haben können. Schließlich sind wir eine ganze Woche geblieben. Das sollte das Hotel würdigen. Nachdem wir die ersten Tage im Hotel ein sehr gutes Dinner hatten, haben wir uns entschieden, ab dem Tag des Angebotes zum schlechten Zimmerwechsels kein Dinner mehr einzunehmen. Das Hotel kam uns nicht entgegen, wir dem Hotel so auch nicht. Hier scheint auch in der Kommunikation innerhalb des Personals etwas nicht funktioniert zu haben. Das Personal für das Restaurant, die Zimmer und für das Frühstück waren immer freundlich, kompetent und hilfsbereit. Dies kann man vom Manager nicht sagen, sonst wäre es besser gelaufen. Vielleicht hätte der Manger mit uns direkt sprechen sollen.

We were in an annexe to the hotel so wifi was intermittent - only a wee bit inconvenient for a work trip. The light above the bathroom mirror wasn’t working and there was no bulb replacement in the couple of days we were staying. Small detail but not enough light to get ready by!

Si mangia molto bene nel ristorante sotto. La stanza era davvero grande e pulita devo dire. I mobili un po’ vecchio stile ma c’era quello che serviva ed il letto era comodo. Il prezzo accessibile e la posizione buona devo dire che siamo rimasti soddisfatti

Our room was fab really big and spacious but our sisters was small and compact. Would definitely need the big room. Place was really warm needed our windows open all the time

An easily accessible bedroom on ground floor close to hotel amenities staff very helpful . Breakfasts are excellent.

Shower was slow to drain, but we passed that information on to staff, and I am sure it will be dealt with.

Dinner. The food and service were good.

Had to miss breakfast on my last morning as timing was changed to an hour later, without warning me (I learned this from other guests). Ten minutes before new start time no staff were around and no preparations had even been started. Lock on my bedroom door door was very awkward to lock/unlock, even after I acquired the knack of using it. THe room itself was quite dreary.

Nice location near the bustling town of Inverurie. We were allocated a small chalet next to the main hotel building and first impression's are everything! Outside the raised beds for flowers were full of weeds, the timber overhang at the front door covered in Spiders Webs (pressure wash) would have rectified this, along with giving the slabs a sweep and wash! Tables and chairs outside chalets were dirty! Inside, blinds on the right side window were broken and both blinds too long for window! Toilet roll holder fell to floor when it was required (broken! Mould around the bathroom expel air. Expel air not working and looked like the vent was blocked with an unknown growth?? Desk in living room has a central panel with a mirror underneath, looks like it has never been cleaned! Sound absorbing panel behind the TV seemed to make your eyes go funny while watching programs? On the upside the bed was comfortable and the shower hot and powerful! We arrived too late for dinner but breakfast was very nice and the staff were nice and helpful! I couldn’t comment on the main hotel rooms but the chalet we were in needs addressing, particularly if you want to attract guests in holiday season. It is not too difficult to rectify these issues but it needs to be done!

We booked The Orangery for a birthday occasion and staff could not have been more helpful ensuring our party of 12 were looked after. The telephone and email communication prior to the day was excellent and we were happy to pre-order, with a lactose intolerance well catered for. It proved to be the ideal setting, a beautiful bright dining space! We all enjoyed our lunches, shout outs for the fish & chips especially! We were not rushed, service was friendly and welcoming. Thank you for making our afternoon very special indeed!

Only one small complaint was we had no hot water, arrived at round lunchtime and went for a shower before a wedding we were attending and the water was freezing. Informed staff who said they’d boosted it but after waiting around half an hour still no hot water. Luckily my brother in law was staying in the cabin on the property and he had hot water but was a little stressful as it meant we were then running late

The room is spacious and very quiet, beds are comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and massive! I was so full after breakfast. Staff was polite but friendly and very helpful. We didn't want to go out for an evening meal on the first day, so had a meal in there restaurant there and the food was good.

We didn't realise that the hotel is located a bit remotely and there is no 'town centre' nearby hence no restaurants to visit unless we walk for 45 minutes or so to Inverurie. It's quiet because of the location, but a bit inconvenient for us. I guess that majority of guests are on business, so it may not matter for them, though.

La chambre et la salle de bains étaient très grande, parking gratuit, armoire et bureau à disposition. Il y aurait tout pour bien faire, il faudrait juste y mettre du coeur et de la générosité et ce serait parfait !!

Le lit n'était pas très confortable, le déjeuner était minimaliste (pas de sirop d'érable pour le porridge, miel sur demande, croissant et pancake industriels, café filtre de qualité moyenne). L'hôtel est phoniquement très mal isolé, on entend tout ce qui se passe dedans. Notre chambre était séparé de la voisine par une porte intérieure très mal fermée et on entendait tous les bruits de la chambre d'à côté. Il y a donc des travaux urgents et importants à entreprendre. Le service est minimaliste: on a laissé une serviette sale par terre, elle a juste être ramassée, mais pas changée. Il manque du coeur et de la générosité. C'est dommage, car il y aurait tout pour bien faire et être un super hôtel.

We didn’t have any hot water for the first night satay and when we approached staff the next morning we were never given an update on it and had to keep going to reception to see what was happening - we had a wedding that day so needed to shower and they said it wasn’t being fixed until 3pm and we were leaving at 1:30pm so we had to have cold showers. We didn’t get two towels in the room so had to go on a hunt for another luckily the spares room was left open and we helped ourselves to our own. We paid £100 a night not what I would say is cheap and expected just a little bit more communication or a compensation for the lack of hot water maybe even a change of room. A little lack of detail in the towels and the beds were super creaky and could feel the springs through the mattress. On top of this there was a green light (I presume the smoke alarm) on all night which didn’t help with the bed situation - but I will accept that this is a health and safety feature that can’t be helped but it was annoying - if staying here being an eye mask.

The hotel was a perfect location for our trip to Balmoral. There were 8 of us and all rooms a good size and lovely decor. We ate in the restaurant and both evening meal and breakfast really good value for money. For us the best thing about this stay was the staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Jackie was one of the most helpful members of staff we have encountered on any trip.Also a younger girl who’s name we didn’t get but gave some old ladies some useful make up tips! We were very late finishing in the restaurant but she was so very kind and helpful even getting us water as she was leaving to go home! Both went above and beyond. Definitely recommend a stay here!

Our only small criticism was there was no lounge area to go to? As a group of 8 we didn’t want to sit in our rooms so were directed to the breakfast room which felt a bit like you were shoved out of the way. We were told though that this is something which is planned for the future.

Lovely big country house. It has got charm. Our big bedroom was cosy and very clean. Good bedding! The restaurant offers a very fine cuisine. Nice and friendly morning team. Good value for money.

I was never able to check in as there was no one at the property!!! Go figure a hotel!! No one there. I had messaged, e mailed and called and left messages days before with zero response. I spoke to someone in the car park who told me they were on vacation. Doors locked. No one answered the door. Had to leave and go find another hotel.

Absolutely no one on the property, I went 3 times and messaged multiple times. A girl in the car park even called for me as I had a US phone and was charged each time the machine answered. The other hotel the strathborn in town was amazingly helpful, understanding and accommodating.

Staff very efficient and friendly, they above and beyond to help.. Room clean and bed very comfy. Room 2 was a very good

Our room turned out to be a small chalet room at the back of the hotel and very cramped. No lounge in main building to sit and have a coffee/drink. The dining room was very busy with not enough staff and very noisy. Breakfast was a disaster. Sat/Sun breakfast served 9-10am. Needless to say every resident arrived at 9. There was insufficient seating, buffet and service. I commend the young girl who was left to cope on her own that morning. We needed to head out and finally settled for a take away roll on bacon, which was dry as a bone.

Dinner and breakfast were very good but busy and we felt sorry for the staff having to cope. The breakfast serving area was very small and inadequate for the number of diners trying to get their drinks, cereals, toast etc.

Unusual that our room was in a type of bungalow away from the main house and overlooking a rather drab car park. We had problems trying to unlock and lock the bedroom door.

Great staff, food at the onsite restaurant was amazing. Located just a little ways out of town so you can’t walk to anything that we saw, but that was fine with us.

No A/C. By 3am, we had to open the windows even though it was raining and in the 30’s (Fahrenheit) because there was no way to make it cooler in our room. I woke up sweating and could not go back to sleep for hours until the room cooled. I also travel with a travel fan and it wasn’t even helping. Carpets were also in need of a deep clean but the rest of the property was clean from what we saw.

Not much to like after being told we had missed evening food by 10 minutes. No offer of anything to eat just no you’ve missed it. Had to get taxi into town for a meal. Skinny guy with the funny glasses needs a lesson on how to deal with people. For £180 for bed and breakfast Breakfast was poor Definitely will not be back we usually stay in Alford at the Haughton Arms far more pleasant staff . You should advertise as a restaurant with rooms not a hotel

The rooms could do with an update..

Our room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel is well situated, on the outskirts of Inverurie. The staff were very helpful and responsive.

Unfortunately, there was no hot water for much of the day in our room. However, staff arranged an alternative room for us to shower in, which was much appreciated.

The staff was lovely and shower exceptional. The breakfast was good with a lot to choose from, the bed was comfortable and in whole the Ardennan was excellent value for money.

The carpet was “tired” and too worn to feel clean although I am sure the staff does its very best there is nothing that can be done.

Tucked away in beautiful countryside, a beautiful building with service to match.

Location was perfect, countryside setting adjacent to Inverurie. The bedroom was quiet with a comfortable bed, excellent shower and good storage. The food was very good. Dining room was spacious and breakfast room had all we needed with good menu choices. Even with a large party for dinner food came out at the same time. One niggle was promptly sorted. Very friendly, helpful staff.

4pm check in was a bit inconvenient and I didn’t want to pay more for self check in. We had a very noisy cistern but that was fixed promptly. One of the bedroom chairs badly needed recovering. The view from our room was heating units but they have to be somewhere! (We could see trees too.) It lacked a residents lounge.

The hotel was unable to provide the advertised cooked breakfast. Although we were offered a continental breakfast this was not what we booked or paid for. I was told this was due to an unexpected staffing issue. I was not offered a refund or discount on our evening meal at the time. I had to ask for the refund an eventually got one after chasing this through messages.

We had accessible room, lovely but a bit dated. Mattress could do with replacing , but it was a very comfy stay. Beautiful shower room. Lots of space. Room was lovely and warm which is important , we would return here in future.

Only couple small points at breakfast.... tea was left in thermos jug so it was a bit strong and not as hot as could be, prefer to make fresh as needed or get fresh pot at table. Also hot breakfast very small...1 sausage, 1 rasher bacon, beans and small potato scone. I did ask for these items as don't eat eggs. Mushrooms or tomato and didn't get any alternative, eg extra sausage etc. Felt for price (£99) this should be done.

Not a busy place. Only us and another couple there. Receptionist welcoming on arrival We had accessible room as i have disabilities and it was big enough. Room a bit dated and bed definitely needs replacing, its very high and i had difficulty getting in and out but it was comfy although matress could be replaced. Big very clean shower room with good shower. Breakfast was ok, tea was in a thermos jug so it was a bit strong and not very hot. Better if fresh pot brought to the table. Full breakfast good choice but I asked for it minus mushroom. Tomato and egg, I don't eat them. I got 1 sausage, 1 rasher bacon and beans no offer of perhaps 2 of each to make up size of portion For £99 not value breakfast. Handy hotel for where we needed to be, I would return but they need to take note of some comments especially the breakfast.
