The location of the hotel.
We have stayed there before a few years ago but this time we were very disappointed. We booked a superior double room with shower unit but this was not available and we were given a much smaller room with the wallpaper coming away from the wall. No bedside table/cabinet or light at one side of bed. The window obscured by foliage growing across it. The mirror above dressingtable obscured by large TV. No evening meals available as there was no chef. No hot breakfast one dayas they said the oven wasn't working. There seemed to be very few staff around but ones we saw were pleasant. However we certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone at the present time as it is very run down.
It was available and very reasonably priced. The staff in Ellie/Ella? And Charlie are great and these are the people that make stays great.
There’s not much to “not like” but it’s clear that this hotel needs some refurb work. Dont get me wrong my stay was good and the room was clean but it’s a little tired and it must be tricky in today’s climate £ and where you work in a highly seasonal industry. There is no restaurant BUT HEY 150 yards away is a fantastic Chippy and the staff will supply you with plates napkins and cutlery and of course a beer and you can sit in the restaurant area. Breakfast was very good. Back to the staff - they make this place.
Not much choice for cooked breakfast and sausages and bacon were over cooked, good location and nice room.
This hotel is very tired and in need of renovation. Our room floor (laminate) looked as if it hadnt been washed properly in a long time. There was a stain by the bed and it was obvious it wasnt new. The windows in our room were filthy outside and also the inside of the windows in the main hotel area needed a good freshen up. All these little things do not take much to rectify! We weren't able to enjoy the bar as there had been a problem with the electrics before we arrived. Very disappointed overall. It wasnt a cheap couple of nights away and the hotel experience did not match the price we paid.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was fine, the bathroom needed upgrades, the silicone around the bath was degraded and mouldy , very concerning. The bottom of the room door was split , just not appealing to the eye. Detail is important.
The staff were friendly and very helpful. Charlie on Reception was exceptionally welcoming and efficient. Simon, the chef produced a wonderful breakfast with plenty of choices from the menu.
The shower head in room 22 could be improved.
Enjoyable, comfortable stay with very welcoming staff
Noisy upstairs guests
The location on why we were staying at this hotel was ideal
The reception we got when we arrived, the room when we walked in, the smell, the extremely dated room,
Location ,easy to get to. Quiet & restful
Nothing
Choose a Corby trouser press, Choose a shoe polisher in the hallway, Choose Strathburn Hotel Inverurie. Step back in time to when hotels were HOTELS. Rooms that opened with an actual key, telephone bedside, rooms complete with kettle, television and Corby trouser press. The best things at the Strathburn Hotel the included manned reception, gym membership if you want it at the gym across the road and incredible cooked breakfast. And take a short walk to the historic Brandsbutt Stone complete with Pictish symbol. The old fashioned service at reception and breakfast stands the test of time.
All in all a little tired perhaps, and no evening meal restaurant as two chefs had recently left at time of my visit.
The property is well located, on site parking and a very comfortable place to stay. The reception staff were all great and Charlie was exceptionally helpful. I slept wonderfully well and enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Would definitely stay again and it represents excellent value for money.
Nothing
Breakfast was always wonderful, and very good value.. Also, clean and quiet
We did have problems with hot water, and trying to use bath/shower/
The staff were amazing they couldnt do enough for youwe brought our dog riley and he got lots of cuddles he loved it too
We had room 29 it had no view when everyone else had a lovely view so definitely think that room should be cheaper
Friendly staff
Bedroom had a bad smell Black mould around bath Shower was barely a trickle You can hear everyone above Barca’s poorly stocked
Staff were exceptional and very friendly, relaxed especially the duty manager who arranged everything that wasn’t correct via the booking.com reservation
Had to pay extra to accommodate our two dogs and had to pay for breakfast. It had all appeared to be included in the booking
We loved the styling of the hotel the prettiness of the seating area and bar. The wonderful food but mostly the staff. The receptionist was amazing with outstanding customer service. He did everything. Exceptional service
Nothing
Breakfast was ok
Friendly staff. Good location, plenty of parking. Clean.
Very uncomfortable bed.
Good location. Nice hotel, the reception, bar and restaurant are lovely. Good value. Staff friendly and helpful.
Rooms are satisfactory but a bit tired. Outside really needs a gardener!
Location was good
Very tired hotel, We stayed there before in 2000 and it was ok then. However, it clearly hasn't had any form of improvements or upgrades in the last 26 years. Everything aged and in need of total refurbishment.
Good value. Good location
Saturday night and no food on offer. Most beers unavailable. No atmosphere. Dated decor. TBH you'd have a more exciting time at a funeral. This place used to be a very busy hotel with fairly decent food (for a Scottish hotel) but it was frankly dire. If you need somewhere to flop for a night it's ok. Don't visit with your partner
The bar wasn’t open
Big room. Bar to unwind after a long day. Parking out front. Really good price, excellent value for money. Inverurie is much bigger than expected. Had a great Tandoori chicken at Rajpoot Indian restaurant
No kitchen - website indicated a restaurant on site, but upon arrival found out that it is not operating. Breakfast only starts at 8am, I needed to leave before 7am, so no breakfast for me. Shower pressure was very poor
The proximity to visiting family.
I didn’t like the creaky floorboards from the floor above which kept me awake all night which was a shame because the bed was comfortable.
Staff were busy and stressed as there was only one on at a time. Breakfast was awful, chef was rude. Room was tiny, hot and the carpet was dirty. Sheet was stained. I paid for parking, I didn’t get a refund.
Central location
The receptionist was so amazing. I was tired and grumpy and still she remained professional and made me smile. I realy appreciated that. The room was all I needed and perfectly located for my trip.
Nothing
Plenty to choose from
some rooms need a bit more maintenance - our room had no hot water from sink tap . Think taps need replacing.
Staff were helpful and polite made our stay! The bed was large and comfortable! Despite our didn't like we did have good time and would return! One suggestion with low numbers for breakfast why not cook to order save waste and produced better meal
When we arrived we were told that there were no evening meals the chef hand left there seemed to be confusion as to how long ago it had been and whether he would be replaced We were booked for 7 nights b and b and wouldn't have booked if we had known.there was no evening meals option Breakfast was basic and rather overcooked kept hot Despite this we genuinely enjoyed our stay and was tempted to weed the back garden as Nd prune roses!! Rather overgrown
Location
Needs freshening up
Hotel dated! worse part is despite filling parking details in i receive a parking ticket. I phoned up and told there has been a problem with their system and lots of cars had been given tickets! they said just email in and it would be cancelled and i would receive confirmation. This never done, no reply to email! made repeated calls to speak to manager who never once bothered to contact me back! Don’t stay here if you want a parking ticket and no customer service to sort the issue! Manager literally could not care
Vriendelijk personeel en de prijs ,locatie ik moet vlakbij zijn
Het is een oud hotel geen diner service en door de houten vloer kon ik het gezin met kinderen goed horen lopen .maar al in al wel een retour waard
Breakfast was good. Parking was easy and also free. Staff were very nice, and also helpful
Water pressure was poor
Great breakfast. Comfortable room. Friendly staff. Good value
Bit noisy . We were on the ground floor and the footsteps upstairs were quite noisy.
Excellent Breakfast
Room slightly small. Only one chair.
Excellent staff - very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast
Slightly noisy at front
It was very close to where I wanted to be with good parking. There was a good self service breakfast. The room was clean and ample room I was staying in a single and it had a good shower there was always hot water available.
No evening meals I understood that might be temporary. There was a nice bar and lounge area but it needed an atmosphere possibly even a tv to bring it alive. The Main light in my room didn’t work which wasn’t a problem for me I was staying mid summer. I stayed two nights the room wasn’t serviced during my stay.
Location
Very old fashioned decor/NO restaurant which we were unaware of until we booked in!!…musty smelling communal areas and rooms…no hot water/shower so had to change rooms…bed was clean/hairs in sink and shower!!
The staff were friendly, a bit of a faulty towers theme but loved it.
The bar shutting at 11 😁
Clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.
Decor was a bit dated
Bedding was clean and comfortable. Staff were respectful and helpful
Musty smell throughout the hotel
Nothing, very disappointed by our whole experience
Had booked as given a 4 star rating it is most definitely not I would struggle to rate it as a 2. Pictures on booking.com obviously from many years ago.
The worst hotel I have stayed in, booked as attending a family wedding neer by for 2 nights. On arrival informed they would not be serving evening dinners as no chef we had planned to eat in hotel the first night. Room booked was a superior double our room was awful extremely dated. This hotel is rated a 4 star I have to disagree I would not even rate it as a 2!! I don't think it has ever had a makeover. Breakfast was buffet style all food was cold and dried up, we chose not to use on our second day. Would most definitely not return and would not recommend to anyone.
Beautiful hotel, clean, friendly staff and a great breakfast 👌
Nothing negative to say
Hotel very dated in need of an update. On arrival we were told the restraunt had to close forcing us to drive around trying to find somewhere to eat. On entering room there was a smell of cigarettes and dampness. Bathroom had a leaking shower valve which run hot water along the bath on to the floor the who time there. Black Mould present around bath. This made the bathroom feel like a sauna, so had to keep the door shut to the bedroom. Great display of cobwebs around room. General like of maintenance and tired hotel from what we saw on a one night stay.
Charlie on reception was excellent. Very helpful and friendly.
No Food option in evening and Bathrooms with nylon curtains and worn and mouldy mastic round bath / shower
Waitress didn’t show me the table on other side of room that had cereals etc so I went straight to Hot buffet.
Bedrooms need updating and squeaky Floorboards in corridor woke me. Lovely
Staff were helpful in particular about parking arrangements to prevent me being charged.Had dinner as well as breakfast in Hotel which I enjoyed.

Strathburn Hotel are conning the public with their on line photographs. The idyllic lawn, main photo, set with tables is actually an unkempt wilderness, uncut grass and heaps of rubbish. Room/Suite, photo 28 has been divided to provide two poky and dark bedrooms. Manager Charlie is striving to please, but faults, ie WHB pop up plug not working, no TV signal, one bedside cabinet, (no space) points to lack of maintenance. Staff friendly, room clean, food good, but restricted menu. Won't return.
Charlie was an excellent host and Jack of all trades made the visit lovely. Food was excellent!
A comfortable, old style hotel with friendly and efficient staff who went out of their way to make our birthday get together stay special. Fabulous chef especially the gluten free rolls - freshly prepared and the best I've ever tasted. Super choice of hot and continental breakfast, freshly prepared when you arrived. Our rooms were clean, warm and comfortable even if the hotel could do with a revamp.
The menu was fairly limited for choice particularly for gluten free options.
Great welcome on arrival and our room was exactly what we needed. We were allowed to check in early so that was very helpful. Plenty of space, a big bathroom and the hotel was well situated. The bar was lovely and the breakfast room was also nice. We were staying for a local wedding and the hotel was perfect for our needs. The staff were lovely and this was a good hotel.
Nothing! All was lovely.
Friendly staff Good location for famuly wedding
Nothing
Good location and good breakfast. Staff were good and showed us two rooms when checking in
Shower wasn’t the best
Really nice views and close to the airport

I am not sure what rating scale has been used to give this hotel 4 stars as it definitely is no more than a three in my book. Don’t get me wrong as I have just returned from a pleasant weekend away with a group of friends. But what 4 star hotel runs out of the little milk “jiggers” they leave in your room, runs out of Pinot Grigio, has no gluten free bread even when advised months in advance about dietary requirements. Has no fresh fruit salad after the first days breakfast. Defrosted frozen fruit was available. The handle on the toilet in my room was hanging by a thread when I arrived, sometimes no water was running from the tap. Another persons toilet would barely flush but that didn’t seem to be an issue. It’s just slow to fill or non existent as the case may be. A shower which didn’t work. Why serve 7 people at a table and leave one with no meal. I had finished when that dinner arrived. There were definite serving issues on Saturday night which I believe was the chefs night off. The rooms should be fully functioning before guests arrive and the kitchen should be fully stocked and not run out of goods after all it is advertised as a 4 star hotel. My report card says “ could do better with not a lot of effort”
Food was good
Hotel a bit tired2
Very friendly staff, fairly clean room, comfortable bed and lovely meal in restaurant. Hotel looking a bit old and tired and in need of upgrade. Didn't have breakfast, I wanted a simple continental breakfast but the price was £12.50 same as full breakfast, which seemed odd. Don't like shower curtains! If you want a comfortable overnight stay at reasonable cost (except breakfast) I would recommend.
This hotel was listed as 4 star, I would list it as 2 star no more. The girl on reception was pleasant. That was where it ended. My friend walks with 2 sticks but no assistance with cases or bags was offered...not even to open the door through to the rooms. We were in rooms 31 and 33. The shower cubicle in my friends room was black around the shower tray....she didn't use it. The view through the window to the "garden" was somewhat disappointing...disgarded piles of wire and piping in a heap and a bath leant against a wall. My room was small, I had booked double rooms. My bed appeared to be made up of 2 beds....the headboard did not fit. To get to the window to close the curtains I had to lean across a suitcase stand, a table, a trouser press and a full length mirror...the wardrobe had been pushed against these items making it very difficult to even look outside....but of course the view was the same as my friends room...a tip ! The room was chilly in the night and the quilt very thin...there was no blanket ( or extra pillows ) in the room. the wallpaper was peeling off and screws sticking out of the wall where presumably something had been removed...but the screws left sticking out. There were dirty smudges on the wall...did not want to think too deeply about what they might be ! My shower tray was dirty in the corner and the shower very slow to drain. But the most memorable were the holes in the bed bases with the fabric hanging off ! It felt grubby and more like a storage room than a hotel bedroom. Dinner was served on tables, no cloth, on a raised platform in the bar....not in the restaurant. The menu was beefburger in a bun or fish and chips. I opted for the special...a fish steak on a bed of vegetables, my friend had chicken. We were the only people there but even so we waited an hour for our food. The fish turned out to be a thin fillet on potatoes, onions and red pepper strips. The chicken tasted off. We then ordered sorbet but the girl had forgotten we were there and we had to call her as went to the bar. Breakfast was in the dining room....we went a half hour before the end of breakfast time, the hot food looked sad...we had toast and cereal instead. The coffee and hot water were in pump action dispensers....both were lukewarm. On leaving the hotel it was noted that the fire extinguisher was in it's bracket but not on the wall but leaning against it on the floor ! Needless to say we will not be visiting the hotel again !
Every single encounter with hotel staff was so nice. The rooms are very nice; everything spotlessly clean. Supper was delicious as was breakfast. Lovely place and people. Will stay again if in the area.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the day we arrived. Perfect for what we need as we were attending a wedding that afternoon.
Our room we did feel was a little on the small side for a family of 3, our friend who also stayed had a much bigger and brighter room. The shower also wasn’t great as very little water pressure.
Half-board option works well, providing a decent credit towards dinner & drinks. We were impressed by the dinner, our 3 different starters & mains were all very tasty!
Very friendly staff who were happy to help, and great comfy beds. Very dog friendly. Great location.
The only small issue we had was the front door being locked at nights and having to disturb a member of staff to get back in. Our dogs unfortunately like an early morning toilet break. Not a big issue but a key for the front door with the room key would be handy on check in.
The staff are super friendly and helpful, they really made our stay
It’s in need of updating
Very friendly staff
The location was brillant as visiting friends wo live in the area. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly and willing to assist with any questions.
Nice hotel, food good and staff welcoming and friendly.
Warm welcome and friendly staff
Limited hot water
The staff were lovely and probably the only positive going for this hotel.
Outdated, dirty, not good value for money.
Lovely staff and a great relaxed atmosphere
Parking near to the front door always seemed to be full
Clean and beautiful
My first bedroom tv wasn’t working. But I did get a change of room.
Me and my wife stayed for one night, the hotel has a nice Scottish decor, the staff were all very nice and welcoming. The hotel is showing it's age and needs some updating, our room was very spacious and clean, however the bathroom sealant round the bath needs replacing and the ceiling light rose cover had dropped down leaving the wires exposed. The breakfast was buffet style, sausages, BP, fried egg, bacon, tomato and beans. No options for Scrambled or poached eggs, the coffee was in a pump flask and luke warm. We paid £115 for one night, we stayed in the Holiday Inn Express at Leigh Edinburgh the night before at a cost of £65 with a far better buffet breakfast selection, the Strathburn needs to rethink the amount they charge or update the hotel and food to match the price.
Central location
Rooms and hotel dated, cobwebs on ceilings and mould in bathroom. Loud noise of foot steps from room above kept me awake. I would say 3* and not 4*
good value for money, friendly helpful staff, lovely breakfast, good location, warm comfy room,
was all good
Fine a central
The rooms were needing updated also weren’t very clean
Perfect location
Arrived early, staff prioritised the cleaning of my room whilst I enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast. so I was in by 9am. Warm comfy bed, hot water, coffee facilities.
Nothing.
Guests enjoyed their stay and would book the hotel again.
Not applicable.
Good location, very comfortable and clean
Location suited our needs perfectly. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Comfortable beds. Decent size room.
Decor in rooms a bit dated.
Nice atmosphere, clean and friendly, comfy lounge and decent choice of food available. A plug for the car would have been good.
Staff super helpful
Uncomfortable mattress
I stayed here as I was attending a family funeral and my dad had stayed here and recommended it. However, it certainly didn't live up to the recommendation. After a 5 hour drive I just wanted to get to my room and relax. As I walked into reception, the man behind behind the desk literally walked right past me. I waited for a while before ringing the bell. No response so I tried again. No luck. Went into the bar where there were 5 men, the receptionist was serving one of them. Fair enough, obviously short staffed. He finished serving then asked if anyone else wanted anything, I was stood there waiting so it was pretty obvious! I said, "Me please, can I get my room key I have been driving for 5 hours" He literally squawked at me, "Just a minute just a minute!!! I am busy!" Even though he clearly wasn't. If I could have found somewhere else at that point in time I would have walked out. I went out to get my case from the car and by the time I got back in he was at the desk. Gave me my key, I asked if I could book a seat at the restaurant, he informed me "No!! Chef is ill!!" no apology, when I asked him if there was anywhere else he vaguely waved his arm and said in the town, too far to walk. The room was very dated, in fact the whole place was shabby. There were brown mouldy stains in the bathroom. (see photos) In fact the only reason I've given 2 stars instead of 1 is the receptionist in the morning was lovely and the breakfast was good, especially the tattie scones. Not enough to make me ever want to stay there again though.
La accueille
Fab friendly staff really helpful and accommodating Breakfast buffet was good. Nice bar lounge.
Would have an upstairs room next time as early risers above us for work woke us up daily.
After returning home I was welcomed with a parking ticket for £100 for parking at hotel. Why take your registration plate at reception if you then have to prepay parking from someone else without even knowing
Breakfast were delicious and staff were lovely. A great experience
Nothing
Our room was on the ground floor nice and spacious ,the bed was very comfortable Breakfast was good
