Provider-sourced guest reviews.
It felt like the epitome of an English inn, but the rooms were a surprise how really upscale and lovely they were. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. It was close to the cruise port, which was why we chose it, but we would choose it again on its merits alone.
It was all great, really, but some members of our party weren't expecting English pub dining when we ate at the inn. Just know what you're ordering so you're not surprised. That said, the food was good, just different from expectation.
Excellent secure parking
Room was a bit small
Location
Charming setting, wonderful food and amazing staff!
Super Restaurant, wenn auch mit kleiner, aber sehr guter Auswahl an Speisen. Tolles Frühstück.
Very friendly staff, clean, comfortable and well equipped room. Enjoyed reading the book about the hotel, its food and its history.
Everything was excellent. Highly recommend.

Beautiful property excellent caring staff and wonderful location!
Everything was amazing! Rooms are spectacular!
Location. Wonderful caring staff. Ambience
Lovely room, good location, good breakfast friendly staff
Dinner menu was very disappointing so we decided not to eat in the hidden
It's situated in a central location for visiting the historic old town. The people were welcoming and agreable. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. There was a good bathroom with a great shower. Breakfast was good. We also ate dinner in the restaurant.
Here’s a polished short version that keeps it warm and personal: We had a wonderful stay at The PIG-in the Wall. The room was everything we needed after a full day cycling on the Isle of Wight — incredibly convenient for the ferry terminal, yet amazingly quiet. We particularly enjoyed a long soak in the bath! The room was beautifully decorated with so much attention to detail, from the lovely nighttime tea and bath salts to all the gorgeous toiletries. The bed and linens were super comfortable and we slept brilliantly. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. Thank you for a wonderful stay — we would definitely recommend and happily return!
Pig breakfast is always amazing, Parking and ev charging fantastic
Excellent cooked breakfast, location perfect for last minute shopping before our cruise
Due to exceptional hot weather additional air condition unit was placed in our room which was noisier than the built in air condition, we thought the additional unit didn’t really make a difference to the temperature si turned it off.
Very comfortable and excellent service. Only one small complaint was no good mirror for shaving/make up.
As above plus the ticking clock which had to be removed to bathroom
Room was very small. Had to put a chair in the bathroom to open our suitcase.
Location, nice room (bit small though)
Breakfast was very skinny (tiny buffet)
Breakfast was nice.
For £379 a night one would expect a bigger room, bigger bathroom, a more comfortable bed and the capacity to open windows. This was a really disappointing experience.
Atmosphere, decor, food and the staff who were very helpful and friendly
There wasn’t anything to dislike
AC was broken and it 30 degrees Celsius. Moved out of the hotel ASAP.
The unique style
This is a very nice boutique hotel (well situated relative to activities and the cruise ports) with comfortable rooms and pleasant staff.
1. The air con was not working properly during our two night stay. Our room temperature was28C, which made for poor sleeping conditions and hence difficulty in getting over jet lag. However, after we raised the issue with the hotel mgmnt, they refunded some of our stay. 2. Back staircase steps are narrow and the ceiling is low, difficult to manage if you are older or. Have a physical issues.
Lokatie is perfect om de stad te ontdekken Het is een monumentaal pand in de oude stadswal Personeel zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam Eten goed en alles lokaal gehaald of laten groeien in een moestuin

Beautiful boutique spot in a fantastic location
Nothing
Position in Southampton. The decor and vibe. The architecture. The welcome, service and staff.
Room was SOOOOO hot. Even with additional aircon the room temperature overnight was 32 degrees, dropping only to 30 degrees by 7:30am.
Lovely location and room.
We’ve stayed at two Pigs previously so we’re surprised by the limited menu and eating space. Was not informed of the parking charge when booking.
The hotel is beautiful, and our room was lovely. The staff were friendly, and although they were very busy, they were attentive. Breakfast was tasty, but where was the bacon in the piggy breakfast? Overall, because this was an anniversary treat, we were delighted with our stay. The accommodation is rather overpriced (London prices), but we know this is a niche hotel and we will look at staying at other Pig establishments.
Nothing!
Quaint hotel. Exactly what we wanted in England
Secure parking, pretty building, very nice room. In-room amenities very good. Staff friendly, restaurant was cosy albeit menu is a little short, but food was very good. Access to New Forest is quick.
Local area is not very interesting.
Cozy, had an old world charm to it.
Nothing at all
Welcoming friendly and helpful staff. Great food and great value.
Room was in the eaves, small, 3 floors up with no lift. Fitted air conditioning not working, so large, noisy (but efficient) portable unit provided with elephant hose hanging out of the window.
Authentic, eco-friendly, in a way stiylish. Friendly and client oriented staff, extremely clean, although the pig appears everywhere.
Beautifully decorated and it felt very homely.
It’s definitely a smaller version of a Pig Hotel but perfect as it is.
very neat place. location is by the cruise terminal. food and drinks were good. each room is unique and very comfortable.
So historic and wonderful. Right near the port and historic center. Walking distance yo everything.
Wish had air conditioning. Only fans!
Location was great for our overnight stay before a cruise. Room was small but comfortable and staff were great!
Nothing to not like, it was great.
Service, breakfast, room. Staff were amazing
No full length mirror in room.

Character of the room and high quality of the room facilities
Air conditioning not working. However we were warned in advance so we were able to cope best as possible in a heatwave
Quaint and quirky design, very helpful staff, lovely clean rooms and great bedding.
Air conditioning couldn’t cope with the heatwave!
Thoughtful and charming decor, very friendly, welcoming and efficient staff. Used the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Really interesting menus and theme. Secure parking was also a big plus.
A little child in the room (we stayed in April).
Room and Dinner
The Pig in the Wall was a gem of a find. Beautifully appointed, perfectly situated in the older quarter of Southampton and with a superb breakfast grazing table and dinner menu. At the height of a heatwave they went above and beyond attempting to make the rooms as comfortable as possible, gave a room upgrade and assisted with luggage transfers. Outstanding experience in hot and testing conditions!
Nothing to complain about. Three flights of stairs to get to our room, but we knew this when we booked and it was not an issue. Our bags were moved to our room for us when we arrived, which was very appreciated.
Authentic and beautiful and the shutter blinds were amazing

Everything food was exceptional staff were amazing

It was a cozy place convenient to walking around. Right in the city wall! Breakfast was great; dinner was excellent. Staff a wealth of knowledge. Would definitely stay again!
No lift; but staff were very willing to carry our bags upstairs!
Ideal location. Decor lovely. Staff friendly. Food fabulous We were called ahead to let us know that there were issues with the air con and temperatures were expected to be mid 30s - we were offered a smaller room that did have air con and took that - the duty manager was excellent and looked after us so well to recompense us for the smaller room.
There was nothing we didn’t like
Excellent staff location and food is amazing
Nothing
The ambience generated by the aesthetics and the staff. Perfect treat to stay there.
Nothing to dislike. Unless it’s “not for you”…
We like quirky character hotels

La gentillesse du personnel et de l’accueil
Chambre simple mais propre et confortable
The quality of the room
A little bit pricey but was happy with the price once we saw the room
It was so quaint but with modern conveniences. So much history. Walking the wall afforded great views.
Front steps could use a railing
We loved the fascinating and historical nature of the hotel, and its location was central. The breakfast was excellent. The room was comfortable, with a great shower, and air-conditioned-- which was really needed the days we were there.
No lift!--we were staying in advance of a three week cruise, and had 3 large suitcases with us. Our room was up two long flights of stairs, in a roasting glass enclosed stairway. The staff on duty were two small women, and while trying very hard, were not sufficient to get our bags upstairs without us being heavily involved. Given the apparent historic restrictions(?) on installing a lift, what about installing a dumbwaiter or winch so that bags could be hoisted up to the second and third levels? Also we were dropped off by an uber who didn't know that there was an area to drive into to make unloading easier. Instead we had to get our bags out in front of the hotel in a no parking zone, and it all felt a little hectic. A little more information on the confirmation about that unloading location would have been appreciated.
Gorgeous hotel. Great location. Friendly staff. Really tasty food.
Nothing
Loved the quirkiness and history of this property, they endeavoured to keep all the decor and detail in line with the age of the era of the property. Everything was perfect, premium toiletries and products. Facilities excellent and staff so helpful and friendly. We were a one night stay pre cruise, location was perfect for port but also to discover the old town of Southampton. Plenty of restaurant options nearby. So pleased we stayed here and what a wonderful place to stay.
The staff was exceptional - everyone! No matter who we interacted with, he/she was spectacular.
I booked two superior rooms - one if the rooms was very much smaller
The location was close ot the old town. The staff was helpful, and the hotel was charming.
Location was fantastic. The bedroom was a very high standard. Liked the roll top bath.
No specific reception area. Too Warm in the bar area to sit comfortably.
We liked everything !
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like!
the staff amd the design
Very quaint and comfortable. Hospitality was incredible and the staff very accommodating. Great breakfast. Wonderful stay before getting on our cruise ship. Wish we could have stayed a few more days.
The room and staff were great
Breakfast was disappointing. The continental was lacking. We went down 35 minutes before breakfast ended and they have run out of all pastries and when asked for more we were told yes but it would take 20 minutes. Surely this should be topped up until breakfast ends?
Excellent breakfast. Comfortable room. Central location.
Would have been helpful to be able to get an evening snack
Always beautifully clean and amazing rooms!
Nothing !
Great locations, quality room furnishings, and amenities. Friendly staff who work hard and provide good service. Breakfast was excellent too.
There wasn't really must not to like, the only thing I would say is it would be considered quite expensive when you have to also pay for breakfast. But thats the only slight negative. However we have the cooked breakfast and it was excellent quality.
Real chic touches like the free standing bed..Roberts radio..champagne cups.. Set in the walls...large room well insulated and sound proofed with a/c
Great location for Southampton city. Lovely old building with real character. Comfortable and good breakfast.
Great location with restaurant Great bed and pillows !
Nothing to complain about
Quirky room with passageway to bathroom. Great shower. Comfortable bed.
Limited menu.
My husband and I loved the British ambiance ❤️
Very cozy and comfortable. Lovely staff who were helpful and accommodating.
I don’t think guests should have to pay to use a hotel car park, felt like a hidden cost.
Accommodations, staff and good!
It was perfect, well positioned, the room, especially the bed, was exceptionally comfortable, Francois who welcomed us was very helpful and a great host. Our room was ready early.
Nothing
The staff , they worked hard and made up our room early . We ate dinner and breakfast there and received excellent service .
Huge luxurious bed and linen. Stylish decor.Great atmosphere in the resturant/ bar. On site parking. Delicious supper.
Dissapointing cooked breakfast...
Beste Lage, traumhaftes Hotel
Gorgeous hotel, gorgeous brand, and a really lovely room. But if I’m being honest, for the price (especially for Southampton), I was a bit surprised breakfast wasn’t included. It just felt like that final piece of the experience was missing - and without it, it stopped just short of being a solid ten out of ten.
Very thin walls, we could hear everything!
Friendliest staff ever

Everything was very good
The bathroom was very cramped
Very good overall with friendly and helpful staff, good location for the city and car parking on site. Breakfast was tasty and plenty of choice. Atmosphere good and staff interacted with everyone there.
Evening meal good but had limited choice
Down to earth, well managed

Very good location
I liked everything
The staff are incredible, they are so friendly and welcoming, they even found a blanket for me because I wanted to stay outside and enjoy the sunshine even though it was chilly. The shower is incredible, our room was clean and cosy. The food is so good and the house rose wine went down well.
Quirkiness, staff were nice and helpful. Location.
The room was on the ground floor and very noisy, the floorboards creaked alot, and the bed creaked everytime we moved, it waa a very naaic room, full.of charcter but basic. And for a room that cost £225 there was no breakfast included, and £15 for a pastry and a cuppa tea is quite expensive. Also there was no mention of a £14 overnight carparking charge until checkout.
Location, the deli/lounge area and interesting rooms
I thought the pillows could be better (I found them too squidgy) and I didn’t make the most of the breakfast as I needed to be quick so £14 for a piece of toast and 2 cups of coffee was steep but necessary.
It’s a lovely hotel in a great location, really nice rooms. Staff are awesome
This is a snug hotel right down near the harbor and the location is unique. The bathroom was beautiful and the staff very friendly. Great for an urban (train only, no car) escape to try the legendary Pig hotel chain.
Some of the chairs in the entry room/dining room look cute but are actually quite inconvenient for dining/sitting comfortably.
Brilliant location for us. Breakfast was good, staff were friendly & polite. Our room was clean, comfortable and although we were facing the traffic, it was surprisingly quiet.
Just beautiful
