Splendid old pub, carefully adapted to cater for many diners. The modern hotel rooms were very adequate to provide all you’d expect and want in terms of accommodation.

The first rooms we were offered were uncomfortably hot due to solar heating. We were relocated to the ground floor which was acceptably cooler. But if the weather's warm don’t accept any room that isn’t on the ground floor

Lovely location. The pub is lovely, food and service of a high standard. Breakfast really good. Choice of hot food from the menu. Bed very comfortable, well equipped and bathroom good.

The accomodation is in a separate block behind the pub. Unfortunately it was built with fantastic insulation and no air con, so the room was warm and it was only around 21°. Room also dark.

Comfortable and quiet accommodation. The fan provided assisted in the hot weather.

Variable wifi. We asked to change rooms as it was non-existent in the original room. It is a known issue for Green Man.

Love location and welcoming atmosphere

This wasn't the hottest time of year but the room was very warm . Supplied fan just circulated warm air.

Es ist alles schon in die Jahre gekommen. Der Wasserhahn im Bad war sehr lose und die verchromten Handtuchhalter waren schon gut angerostet. Der Teppichboden in den Fluren könnte auch mal wieder gesaugt werden. Die zum Frühstück bestellten Eggs Benedict waren leider etwas lieblos angerichtet (Toast mit zwei pochierten Eiern, daneben etwas Blattspinat und Kännchen mit Soße).

The hotel is comfortable and well-located. The breakfast is good, and the hotel staff is very friendly.

In the summer, the room is extremely hot and has neither air conditioning nor a fan. The bartender responsible for pouring draft beer and making cocktails is extremely rude and abrupt with customers.

We liked our room, the decor, the powerful shower and the comfortable bed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our cooked breakfast was tasty and quite substantial. The sitting area outside was very pleasant and spacious.

The atmosphere in our room was stuffy and lacked good ventilation owing to the fact that the window opening was very restricted. As we were leaving the staff explained that it was for safety reasons and we could have asked to have the restriction removed but by then it was too late.

No ventilation in the bedroom on the ground floor I felt ill all day after my overnight stay in this hotel due to lack of ventilation The design of the windows is not fit for purpose with guest safety and health and safety and should be externally and independently inspected by professionals qualified to do so to effect change as this point clearly not understood by the company who owns it.

Staff were amazingly efficient ans couldnt do enough for us

Booking .com made an absolute hash of including breakfast which was rather embarrassing. A double room and only one breakfast was included. Thankfully thw hotel phoned booking. Com and resolved but after we had already paid !

Heerlijk verblijf. Super mooie grote kamer. Lekker ontbijt en mooi terras buiten. Binnen in de pub is het gezellig.

Wij verbleven in een rolstoel aangepaste kamer. Om er naar toe te komen zat een drempel van 10 cm. Voor ons geen probleem. Er was een oprijplaat maar maar een boor hotel deel en voor restaurant. Iet handig.

This is a excellent place to stay.Its in such a pretty village. Allof the staff were cheerful and very helpful. Our room was very clean. Booking dinner was easy, and the food and breakfast were excellent.

I Would like to have had a suitcase stand., in the room. I find it easier then leaving on the floor open, . We stayed for 1 night , so we tend to not unpack.

The temperature in the rooms, it was exceptionally hot that weekend even with the fans the rooms weren’t very cool. We were on the top floor.

Located just off the M11, perfect for breaking a journey further north. Popular restaurant. Tastefully decorated and spacious rooms. We intend to return.

A little disappointed to find they had no smoked salmon left for breakfast that day. Our room was near the beer garden where a lot of people were celebrating and singing and it was too hot to close the window. (Next time we'll request a quiet room at the rear of the hotel.)

It was a great location to where the event we was attending was.

The shower tray didn’t drain fast so filled up pretty fast. Meaning our showers had to be short. Furthermore the water pressure was very low. The tap water smelt odd, and this was the only drinking water available. We went to the pub to get safe drinking water but they denied us service. The room was very hot and only a budget small fan was supplied but was very noisy. It’s 11am checkout and they still attempted to come in at 10.30 and clean despite us being in the room, seems like they didn’t communicate with reception on who had checked out. Overall not worth the money we paid at all. More like a budget hotel half the price.

Lovely restaurant area .

The food we had on Wednesday evening wasn’t nice . The gammon was like rubber and o er cooked . Disappointed .

The room was extremely hot! It reached about 27 degrees outside but it must have been 30+ in the room. The room did have a fan which we appreciated but we struggled to sleep.

There was no air conditioning, only a small fan, and it was one of the hottest weekends of the year. Sleeping was very uncomfortable..

It felt as if it was a family business and they cared and they showed concern. They’re really involved themselves with you fantastic.

The room was beautiful, really spacious, lovely big bath with a shower. Huge, comfortable bed. Tea and coffee facilities. A really lovely space.

I know it's a pub....a very nice pub...was just a bit noisy outside the room at night ....but to be expected. Nothing outrageous.

The staff were friendly and the room was clean.

The room was stiflingly hot, so much so that I thought the radiator was on. It wasn't but I couldn't get any more ventilation because the top hinged window had a security cable and only opened a few inches. There was a fan in the room but I didn't want to listen to it all night. Amy, the waitress in the restaurant was charming and took my order on a hand-held device i.e. it sent it straight through to the kitchen and bar. My starter arrived almost immediately but it was several minutes before Amy returned to say that the wine I'd ordered wasn't available and several minutes more before the alternative appeared luckily before my main course arrived.

All good - reception, evening meal, breakfast. Only downside is the lack of parking, but this is available within a few yards outside. Great team at dinner.

The hotel was clean throughout, and the room was decorated with a modern, welcoming feel with a comfortable bed. It was also very quiet as it is separated from the pub, making it a peaceful place to stay. If the hotel invested in air conditioning, it would make a significant improvement to what is otherwise a lovely place to stay.

Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy our stay because the room was unbearably hot. We barely slept, even with the window open and the fan provided in the room. It got so uncomfortable that we had to go to our car in the middle of the night to bring up our own fan. I've never stayed in a hotel room that was this hot, especially as this wasn't even during the heatwave. The hallway and even outside felt so much cooler than the room. The hotel really needs to invest in air conditioning, as we now have hotter summers; this would make a huge difference to guests' comfort and the overall stay. The kettle was also in need of descaling, as it had a significant build-up of limescale. When I poured the water, bits of limescale ended up in my drink, which wasn't pleasant.

The location and place are nice and the price is reasonable.

It’s a nice pub with a large accommodation block at the back, which is modern and clean. It was very hot and there is no AC, but a fan was provided which was fine.

The property seems to suffer from staffing issues— staff lack training & knowledge. There was a manager talking loudly about spreadsheets and orders, meanwhile tables were left dirty for hours, restaurant floor and tables were desperately in need of a good clean, they ran out of milk(!) for breakfast because the delivery man comes between 8-10am (shouldn’t someone have got in a car and gone for milk?), the eggs Benedict was served without hollandaise because they ran out, people were served breakfast one by one with a pretty long wait at tables. For lunch at the pub the service was also just not great & It was all just little unprofessional. Not expecting 5 star service and we know it’s a pub, but basic staff training is essential

Really nicely decorated rooms and bathrooms, the pub is nice too! The beds were really comfy. All the staff were lovely as well. Felt like really good value for money and just what we needed for a stopover for a wedding nearby.

Definitely wasn’t as clean as it could have been. The room had quite a lot of dust and the bathroom still had someone’s hair on the tiles. But it didn’t bother us too much for one nights stay! The top floor was also noticeably hotter than the other floors but it is roasting right now

Arrived at reception 10 minutes early they was short staff as someone phoned in sick. Except I had to wait , wasn’t a problem but both staff went out to have a cigarette. Would have been nice if they said feel free to go to the bar and get a drink. As it was extremely hot.

Certainly needs air conditioning. Water was left in the kettle Pillows were uncomfortable. Need to have signs on doors asking not to allow doors to bang shut. Was noisy. No one on desk to say goodbye although I did get an email about let’s get acquainted after two o’clock on the day I had already left.🤣

I liked the rustic aesthetic of the tavern and stay. On the pictures it felt fairytale like however my stay was much different than what the pictures showed

The breakfast served was not to my expectations. I had to wait forty minutes for a meal that could have been completed in five and when my meal finally arrived it wasn’t even hot anymore. I believe the staff were lazy and the room itself wasn’t clean enough. I found a brown mark on one of the towels and the bath/shower didn’t seem properly cleaned.

Our rooms were ovens. One member of our party had to leave, forfeiting their room. We arrived late after a warm day 28-30 to find our rooms on the top floor were at this temp with the windows only slightly open. No a/c and only a meagre fan in one room. None available for the other. The room hadn't cooled by the morning and consequently the rest afforded was very poor. It's not good enough. Hot weather in summer is not a surprise.

Pleasant building and decent room

We arrived at 10.10pm after a long drive I asked what time the bar closed and was told it was already shut. Asked if they had any fresh milk and they didn’t. At breakfast the order took forty minutes to arrive and we were late for a meeting, others were also complaining. Only one member of staff on, very helpful but run off his feet. The coffee machine ran out of milk and we were told that the delivery had not arrived yet, I had to ask for a plate for toast.

Posizione e parcheggio comodi per girare l'Essex in auto. Pub caratteristico, antico, molto pittoresco.

L'hotel si trova in una struttura separata, molto minimal ed essenziale, dietro al pub/ristorante. A mio avviso le foto ingannano perché sembra tutto molto "vero", invece la realtà distrugge il sogno: la nostra camera con letto king affacciava, come molte altre camere, sul parcheggio, coi tubi di scarico delle auto ad altezza finestra. Non c'è l'aria condizionata e in questi giorni roventi di fine giugno, anche solo prendere sonno è stato un incubo. Abbiamo chiesto di essere spostati in una camera più ventilata ad un piano superiore, ma c'era overbooking; allora abbiamo chiesto un ventilatore in più, ma la risposta è stata che non ne avevano abbastanza. Colazione piuttosto essenziale, molto lenti a refillare il cibo in esaurimento, ancora più lenti a servire i piatti caldi... abbiamo chiesto le uova alla Benedict e sono arrivate più di mezz'ora dopo, sode. Pulizia da rivedere, vasca-doccia scivolosa e vecchia, muffa in bagno.
