Was not value for money...2 nights for £504..pretty poor as needed a good overhaul..our room 18..curtain half way up the window..and ripped..my husband was getting dressed and noticed the people outside could see him..bed comfy..if thats the standard of your rooms..it's very over priced all round

The location of the hotel, the hotel having a car park, breakfast being included in the price, the beautiful bedrooms with all the amenities inside. That this time we had a seaview and balcony.

That I wasn't able to leave my car in the car park after 1pm on our check out day. I had to move my car and pay for the afternoon. So it was a pain having to sort the car out in the middle of our day at the beach.

The bedrooms was clean, comfortable and was far better than we expected. Great location and friendly staff and our dogs were made to feel very welcome too. Easy parking which is a bonus in Lyme Regis!

Honesly all good, the only thing is that they use the lovely paino as a writing table with nothing protecting it! What a shame...

It was in need of new furnishing, and decorating.The room was small considering it was a deluxe”. It was grubby, but the bathroom was clean, although it did smell of mildew.

The location was great. The breakfast was beautiful.

The noise of the doors slamming of the other rooms. My dog thought fireworks were going off and the room was like a sauna.

The location is excellent in the town close to the sea front. It has parking. The room was large and quirky due to its history. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very good.

Perfect location, just a minute or two walk to the oceanfront. Staff was very helpful. The food was excellent. And I want to give a special thanks to Sharon, the receptionist who went way out of her way to be helpful to me. I’m visually impaired and she spent a long time making phone calls to book a taxi for me to the train station. Also I was staying at a different hotel the next night, which I planned on walking to up a very steep hill in the same town. I would’ve been carrying two heavy pieces of luggage, but she cheerfully volunteered to drive me there and she helped me find where I was staying and even helped me with my luggage. She deserves a raise! :-)

Lovely room we stay for 3 nights and we’re good sizes room for us ..

The shower head fitting were not correct as kept slow motion flop down. Could have checked it or replace it on the spot before giving us the room. But otherwise really good hot shower as I had to get closer to the control to get my hair wet and using shampoo too. Tricky there.

Five star place, great staff, great location. An olde worlde place with fabulous bar, and several bar snug areas. Room was massive, comfy and amazing toiletries, I felt like a queen. Great location couldnt be better.

Disappointing breakfast, very processed not cooked very well, one egg, tiny mushrooms, half a little tom bit mean.

The recent upgrades to the hotel have been well thought out and are in keeping with the coaching inn history. The menus were very good and offer good options for vegetarians. Two minor points : it is not easy to contact the hotel by phone - too much AI and answering machine. There is no re placement for a human being. Also, there seems to be a central purchasing policy for meat, which may make sense financially but means that guests who are ethically against religiously slaughtered meat or the gassing of pigs cannot safely touch some excellent items on the menu. Maybe locally sourced produce for some meat products - labelled on the menus - could be considered in future. Staff were excellent.

Interesting, lively old hotel right in the heart of Lyme Regis. Good parking facilities at the back.

Floors and corridors a bit creaky, along with self-closing firedoors. No lifts.

Great central location, staff really happy and helpful, very comfortable beds. Good quality towels and toiletries. Great breakfast, not a wide variety but very fresh and delicious.

Our room is the few rooms still remaining to be modernised and we would have been more comfortable with air conditioning.

The fact I booked it as it advertised the pool with pictures hence why I booked that hotel but on arrival booking in get told the pool is out of use and would not be available for our stay The room was very clean and the beds were all fresh the same as the towels and bathroom but the room was very stuffy and you can only open the window about 4inches And no fridge so keeping drinks cold was near impossible and the staff were lovely and welcoming The breakfast was not good very cheap quality and for the price of the room you would have thought they would up there game.this is not the staff fault the can only dish up what they have been given I'm a nut shell staff all good and lovely this review doesn't lean on them nothing bad to say about the staff. The owners need to step on food quality and add some fridges to the rooms I probably won't go back

The location was perfect for us, right in the middle of town, parking was a bit tight,but always a space in the end,we were very happy with our room, large and everything we needed.

The swimming pool was closed for all of our stay and the near future as far as we know. It was the main reason we booked this hotel as we love a swim before dinner. Also there was nowhere to put our toiletries in the bathroom no shelf at all.

Breakfast was plentiful with healthy choices.

My parents had a double room in the ground floor annex which was much smaller and quite cramped.

The room (36) faced Broad Street and was very noisy from around 6.30 each morning.

Location was excellent and some of the staff were friendly.

The room and particularly the bathroom was tired. The bathroom unpleasant as mould everywhere, particularly in the shower and could have done with a deep clean or better still updating.

Booking in process. I completed the booking form on booking.com and stated I had a dog. The receptionist claimed not to know about my dog and made quite a fuss about having to change things around . I asked how to get to the pool and was told I had to pre book a session and the next one would be after7 in the evening . There were no signs or literature about this. We didn’t get to swim. At breakfast we had to sit in the bar on our own with the dog. The dining area was up a large flight of stairs so my husband had to negotiate the stairs with glasses of orange juice , cereal etc The pub itself was very shabby and a huge disappointment . Would never go back .

You shouldn’t have sash windows that you can’t open, some old- some covered in paint and some restricted - shocking as no air con which is understandable for a property of that age but at least let me open the windows

Prima gelegen in het centrum van het dorp.

Geen airconditioning en daarom slapen met de ramen open… veel last van krijsende meeuwen. Ook kwam er gewoon heet water uit alle koud water kranen. Was zgn nieuw, maar dit is een structureel probleem voor kamers op de bovenste etage.

I liked the centrality, the parking. The front desk person, Sharon. She was friendly, welcomming, explained well and is an asset to any hospitality unit

The place is dirty, the room, the public area, dinning room, the spa and sauna and generally the place is run down and in a bad way. Carpets cover creeky floorboards. There is no vent or air in the pool and table tennis room. This is not tourism and at very high prices!!! one would expect more

The staff were exceptionally accommodating and delightfully friendly. The food was extremely delicious. Rooms are absolutely fantastic. The Royal Lion is situated in an ideal location. Second time I've been here and definitely returning!

Location is perfect - within easy walking distance of the front and beaches. Staff were very pleasant. There are plenty of facilities at the hotel.

The breakfast could have been better. Toast was only supplied on the cooked breakfast plate - none was supplied for using with marmalade. The toast was soft - it was improved when I asked for it to be toasted more. The worst point was the coldness of the room (room 5). It was a very cool and rather damp week and the room was consistently cold. The central heating was not on (summer!) and the only heat available was from the towel rail in the bathroom. Although there were only two of us, we'd had to book a family room as no others were available, so it was expensive.

Close to beach and shops. Very relaxing time.

No air conditioning or large fans for upper room during a heat wave. WiFi did not work while we were there.

The room and bed was very comfortable and neat and clean. The venue has a heated swimming pool which is good to have a swim in if the sea water is a bit cold. Found the checking very professional and helpful

Found the breakfast staff a bit surly and had to return toast for correct toasting three times. Parking was very limited and the staff will block you in if there are not any spaces for them and then resent you asking them to move the car. We had the room overlooking the main street and consequently on a Saturday night it was noisy and there was an innicident with a person banging on the front door at 2am so not a restful night.

Wi-Fi in our room was absent. Phone connection very poor due to location. Having Wi-Fi was extremely important to us both and its lack left us isolated and frustrated. With respect, fix the damn Wi-Fi it’s not hard when the TV clearly has a wired connection. Also toilet seat needs maintenance.

One of the reasons I booked the hotel was it had a swimming pool and sauna. However you had to book in advance, so unable to use🙁 The hotel also had EV charging facilities, but we couldn’t use due to cars parked in the spot. Parking was tight. Overall I was a bit disappointed with the hotel. It was a bit dated.

My room was at the front of the building over the front entrance which was very noisy early in the morning. Also I made the booking and I got the worse room between the two rooms I booked, which is unusual.
