Mountain Pearl Hotel was just what we were looking for. The staff greeted us warmly, spoke English exceptionally well and were very helpful orientating us to the hotel and Cat Ba Island. The rooms are a very generous size, comfortable and clean and well priced. I really appreciated the spacious dining room area, nicely presented and generous breakfast each day. The hotel is walking distance from shops and the beach. Really I can't fault Mountain Pearl Hotel and highly recommend staying there.

Es un hotel con un estándar correcto pero justo en sus servicios. Pero no hay que engañarse la relación calidad precio es muy buena ya que te dan más de lo que pagas. Una habitación amplia, aire acondicionado, desayuno, que por el precio que tiene no se puede pedir más. En el centro de la ciudad, fácil acceso a todo.

Lo dicho es un hotel modesto, justo, pero si quieres pagar poco es ideal. El único pero es si tienes algún problema de movilidad ya que no tiene ascensor en la primera planta, aunque si a partir de la segunda planta si. Además es una zona de la ciudad en cuesta.

Realmente lo único bueno es la ubicación y la amabilidad de la gente.

El hotel está sobrevalorado, yo no sé la gente en que se basa para darle esa puntuación, vale que está céntrico, vale que es un dos estrellas, pero deja mucho que desear en España es un hostal de mala muerte.

Just the location

The images shown on booking are not real. The hotel is nothing like it looks. The toilet smelled very bad. You can hear everything that happens in the building. Bedsheets weren’t clean. Breakfast was not good. Staff was not helpful.

Nothing apart from The staff, they are super amazing. From front of house to the cleaners. Very helpful and full of positive energy.

It was really poor. The shower was almost over the toilet seat, no soap over the sink, and the toilet door was broken.

Very noisy at times but this was due to people staying there rather than the hotel itself. Karaoke very loud above our room but stopped around 11pm so no problem there.

The hotel has mountain-facing sides, although not close to the sea, it is quite convenient for traveling because it is in the center of Cat Ba town. Overall ok compared to the price here.

This hotel is clean and feels like a new building. It was really nice to be tucked away in a quiet area. I'm quite particular about hotels, but I really liked them. The beds were wonderfully comfortable and the staff were really amazing. They were very kind and provided more than we expected to make our stay perfect. Delicious fresh seafood was served in the hotel's restaurant, and authentic Vietnamese food was served at a local restaurant nearby. Watching the sun set over the bay for a seafood dinner was an unforgettable memory.

bed was comfy, air con was really good and the room was a good size. also reception staff were very kind

roof top bar wasn’t a functioning bar at all. it had a wonky pool table with no chalk and no drink to be served.

Great place to stay. Friendly staff gave us local info on arrival and helped us book onto a boat tour. Location is ideal.

Basic, budget friendly hotel in a great location near lots of restaurants, bars and the waterfront. Staff were exceptional in helping us get to Cat Ba, with tour recommendations and anything else we needed for our stay. We were surprised with an invite to a lovely Vietnamese traditional dinner where we got to meet other travelers which was a highlight. Staff were extremely responsive on app before and after the trip. Breakfast was basic but did the trick to feed us for the morning.

The staff is warm and attentive, making you feel right at home. The rooms are clean, cozy, and full of charm, blending beautifully with the surrounding nature.

The room is clean and tidy as shown in the picture, quiet space. Reasonable price. Friendly and hospitable owner. There is food service on the 2nd floor. There is an elevator. Thank you Mountain Pearl for contributing to a wonderful trip.

Safe and clean the room was made every day the staff was helpful with transportations bookings. 5 minutes walk from the seafront, bus office next door I would recommend.

The rooftop has been unfortunately left to decay Thin walls and construction next door not a great combo

The hotel is very good, has a mini bar and rooftop, delicious breakfast. They also enthusiastically introduced me to tours around the island, I booked a tour to visit Lan Ha Bay, it was great, everything was fine.

Really warm and friendly staff. Check in was easy and the staff are helpful in booking Ha Long Bay excursions for you. Rooms were large with a comfortable bed, we slept really well here. They have a rooftop bar and you get a free beer voucher per person when you check in. Bar had a cool vibe and pool table for us to start our evenings off in. Really recommend this place if you’re basing yourself on Cat Ba

Staff was helpful, gave us some advice on places to visit, cheap scooter rental. Bedroom and bed were very spacious. They also got us a heater because it was quite cold in the bedroom.

In an area devastated by typhoon Yagi in September 2024, Mountain Pearl is well on the way to recovery. Repairs are being made to the roof outdoor area. The hotel is well located, far enough away from the noise and disruption of major construction works on the (former) beachfront, yet close enough (a short walk down the hill) to be part of the main street action, although we visited in the run-up to Tet, when many nearby eateries were closed for the holidays. The hotel offers to help arrange tours and transport at competitive rates. The owners were extremely friendly and very helpful, and spent time showing us a map of the island, and shared where we could enjoy good views and great experiences. They spent time telling us about the typhoon, sharing videos and images of the storm. It made us realise just how much recovery has already occurred at the hotel and in the town and area. Our room was clean and bright, and comfortable. We visited off-season and were allowed to choose our room as the hotel was not too busy. Breakfast was good, and served with tea or coffee. The only thing missing was a place to refill water bottles.

Everything was fine. It would have been nice to get teabags and/or coffee mix in the room, but this is minor and did not take away from our experience nor was it expected.
