Lovely room, really helpful service
Nothing
The property was old we were in an upstairs loft room, which was quirky
There was a lot of stairs, which would be no good for disability and the ceiling levels and door levels for a tall person like myself, which was not the best and the window in our room was dirty
Great two bed apartment in very central location.
Good location tearoom food was lovely.
Bathroom door dressing hook at eye level. Accident waiting to happen! As per all hotels, remote control could have been cleaner.
Really comfortable and spacious room. Just across the road from the Theatre which is very handy.
Plumbing needed attention .. old taps were stiff add there were noises from pipework .. but generally very very good.
Fantastic location very friendly staff
Everything was great
Comfortably equipped room. Central location in Buxton and terrific breakfast.
The room was elegantly decorated to suit its era. The choice of drinks was extensive with plenty of milk, if we wanted more than one drink. The bed was very comfortable meaning a very good night's sleep. The handwash and shower gel was good quality and smelled lovely. The toilet paper was better quality than often found in places to stay.
There was nothing to dislike but a few things could be addressed: it was impossible to completely turn off the taps which must be wasting a lot of water. Useful things would be a toilet roll holder near the toilet and a towel ring near the sink. One of the chairs could be lost unless a couple of lose joints are looked at.
Lovely staff, very comfortable accommodation,
Loved it! Old, interesting, great location and beautiful decor. Trusting and personal atmosphere, very friendly staff.
Bit noisy outside because it backs onto the main street. Really not a big deal though. It’s a beautiful space and we’d highly recommend.
Charming tasteful decoration . Great location .
Some paintwork needed touching up .Room was very warm . Arm chairs not very comfortable .
Great location, accommodation good, shower brilliant, breakfast fantastic.
The only complaint I might have is that the accommodation could be better maintained (sash window a bit skew-wiff, toilet seat hinge broken etc.) but otherwise everything fine.
Beautiful building in lovely location . Meals were excellent . Most staff very friendly and helpful .
Although the bedroom was lovely and very comfortable in the unusual heat we would have benefited from a fan .
Staff were helpful friendly and efficient. The room was well equipped and comfortable and in a great location. Very nice food downstairs
All good
Location filled what I required when booking. I was left to my own devices but help was rapidly given if asked for.
1. The mirror in the bathroom of the room occupied (The Dome) is too small and frankly, too low. I found it awkward to use to shave. I recommend that it should either be replaced with an unframed article in view of the position of the light above. (This remark was passed on to Management on leaving). The following is not a "Dislike" but I feel that enquirers for accommodation should be aware. 2. People booking accommodation at No 6 The Square are very strongly advised to contact the management as soon as possible after doing so if they have mobility issues. Most of the rooms apparent to me are located up two flights of stairs. That known as "The Dome" and allocated to me, however, can only be reached after a further rather awkward and narrow flight of stairs. (This remark was not discussed with management but is included as I was not aware of the room allocated until after I had arrived)
Friendly and exceptionally helpful staff.
Nothing
A very interesting and unusual building, centrally located in beautiful Buxton. The staff were all helpful, kind and efficient. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities very good. Delicious food in the tearooms.
Nothing to dislike! It was quite expensive, mainly because it was peak time in the Buxton festival. I'd like to stay longer next time.
A very nice stay in a spacious room with a very comfortable bed.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Good Location by the pavilion park , lovely accommodations although a little dated. Friendly hosts
Only a minor issue, the step into the bedroom kept catching us out
Furniture was a bit dusty, the lampshades
Comfortable bed and chairs. Spacious room and very attractively decorated. Central location. Helpful young man showing us tounf.
A lot of stairs yo climb. A big pricey but it was a Saturday night.
Ridiculous shower room (tiny; almost no water; broken shower tap; super small washing basin).
Proximity to town centre easy to find
All good
We were blown away when we walked into the accommodation. It was as if we had walked into someone's home. Equipped and furnished to a very high standard. We felt privileged to be allowed to stay there!
Just one slight niggle: the written instructions in the welcome folder for Wi-Fi connection was incorrect but we figured it out and all was good.
Quiet location in the heart of town
Blinds let in light in the bedroom and bathroom too far away from the bedroom
Very pretty well thought out room . Comfortable bed . Friendly and helpful staff . We had an excellent breakfast in the morning, not included in the room rate but decided to stay and have breakfast there anyway . Very glad we did and it was very good value . We also had a meal there mid-afternoon which fitted in with our time schedule. We thought we would be limited to tea and cakes but there is more . We had the Special of the day and so had salmon with prawns, new potatoes and beans . Then cake, which is delicious . The guest sitting room is very beautiful and elegant .
Parking - they no longer have permits. You can park outside but only if you can get a space and maximum 4 hours in the day . We managed but it’s pot luck . Once the tearoom is shut you have to use the back steps to go in or out . Coming back at 11.30pm was difficult. The steep stone steps were slippery with rain and there was only a tiny ineffective light . Essential they get better lighting - it’s an accident waiting to happen .
Having a whole apartment to ourselves which was well equipped, very clean and breakfast was delicious in the tearoom. In a great location to explore Buxton.
Location was great in lovely building. Very nice room..
Second floor room up steep stairs with no lift.
We stayed 1 night for our 20th Anniversary, we really enjoyed our stay, the room was lovely and spacious, and the building it self was great. The location was ideal; we had a lovely view from our room across to the park and the opera house. We found lots of bars and restaurants nearby, and the town centre and all of Buxton's historical places were also very close. We'd definitely look to book again!
Everything mostly
Would have liked a king sized bed
location and quirkiness
no de-caf coffee in room :(
We appreciated the chef coming in early to make a nice breakfast. The room and bathroom were spacious and comfortable with a nice view of the Opera House. Location is hard to beat. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Given the time of year some black-out blinds would have made a difference. We woke at 4am with the light pouring into the room and the flimsy shades didn't make enough difference.
Location, comfort, value
No negatives
Great stay in the center of Buxton
Gorgeous room in great location Lovely tearooms downstairs Huge bedroom Lovely outlook over gardens
Parking was an issue on arrival & thereafter - there was none as there was a concert on at the Opera House across the road. Even the surrounding car parks were full. Staff were not assisting until I stated that it was listed on Booking.com as having said parking was no issue. Had to use meters every 4 hours (from 8am to 6pm) for the stay.
Location and size of room
Nothing
Breakfast wasn’t included
Complimentary tea and coffee in the apartment weren’t very good. Not at all enjoyable.
Absolutely fabulous stay, we were shown to the cottage and everything was perfect for a weekend stay. It’s located perfectly to explore the local area on foot.
Honestly , there’s nothing not to like about the cottage.
Stunning property and location
Parking was an issue
It has character,. Charm. The staff a friendly and the food is of a good standard

Everyone was friendly and the place was pristine. The full english breakfast was excellent value and the best we have had.
Everything was excellent.
Excellent place and location
Nothing it was all great
The property itself was very attractive and well equipped. The courtyard garden area needed some tidying up and cleaning.
The lighting on the approach to the property and particularly within the courtyard is inadequate and does need improving.
Excellently situated for the Opera house. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a homely sitting room on the first floor. Our room was in the converted attic on the third floor and was approached by a narrow staircase with a low beam, which we soon got used to and we didn’t find the steps a problem. The bedroom was really comfortable and there was a separate small sitting room and an ensuite with a big bath with plenty of hot water. All of the rooms looked to have been recently decorated. Breakfast was provided in the tea shop on the ground floor and was available from 9am. The breakfast itself was excellent and freshly cooked to order.
Nothing
Loved the location, the tearooms, quality of the food, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating, beautifully clean.
We stayed in the Dome room and I felt that the access to the room was hampered by the stair access which was very narrow and somewhat difficult to navigate also the height of the ceiling beams were very low and I hit my head several times within the bathroom🙈
Beautiful room, excellent location overlooking the Opera House. Friendly staff in the tearoom. Good value.

Large appartment, well equipped kitchen, 2 large comfortable sofas and extra chairs.Comfortable bed. Good walk in shower, Modern bathroom. Part of a lovely tearooms with a great menu. Lots of choice. Nice staff. Tables can be reserved. Plenty of parking, across the riad from the Opera House and the Pavilion Gardens. Close to lots of pubs and restaurants. Good heating. Everything on the level.
Some noise early in the mornings, not many TV Channels, wifi abit patchy.
Excellent location in central Buxton. Very comfortable room with generous tea/ coffee facility. Cosy warm during our chilly stay. Breakfast was excellent in the tea room.
We found a pizza box with leftovers under the bed from prior occupants.
Beautiful old building with a really big comfy bed. Great location Superb food in the tea rooms

Everything!!
Nothing!!
The property was really lovely and staff were friendly. Breakfast was outstanding at the tea rooms downstairs.
The only problem was the stairs were steep ok for me, however my 78 mum found them tricky but didn’t spoil the stay.
Fantastic location, perfectly pleasant staff and room and accommodation were spotlessly clean. Bed was comfy, and facilities all worked well.
My only criticism was that it was hot through the night, but thats my own fault for not opening the window and because I am used to cold house.
Great location, the room was a great size and comfy and the staff were great
Only staying for 1 night
Location could not have been better Staff were brilliant, extremely friendly and helpful Food was fabulous, dining area was lovely Have already booked to return Would happily recommend to anyone, loved our stay thank you
Fabulously clean. Room overlooked the Pavilion Gardens and Opera House. Staff were very helpful. Lovely big bathroom eith bath, shower and bidet
Everything was perfect
Location amazing and space in apartment was so good.
The location was absolutely superb. A one minute walk to the Opera House and Pavillion Gardens and about 5 minues from a large range of shops and restaurants and cafes. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage. There was also a communal lounge area which was a lovely addition An AMAZING power shower
Four flights of steep stone stairs to get to the room and no plug sockets near a mirror
Location was great for the theatre
It was very hot inside and there wasn’t a fan in the bedroom
The location was perfect and the room clean, comfortable and best yet, characterful. What made it really special though was the additional luxury of being in such a historic building with so many lovely features still visible. It was like stepping back in time to sit reading in the beautiful Georgian period guest lounge, with all the furniture in keeping with that period, a beautiful piano in the corner, looking out through the large, high windows at the park and opera house. We also loved the tea room below and had a gorgeous breakfast there with the same breathtaking view. Staff were efficient and kind, guiding us to where to find extra pillow and towels and keen to share local tips for pubs. Brilliant!
Nothing at all. Couldn’t fault it. Even the beds were exceptionally comfortable and cosy!
Location is excellent
Nothing
Location opposite opera house. Large flat .good shower. Well equipped kitchen. Private and quiet
Bath towels too small bath sheets would be better. Bedroom could accommodate a king bed as double too cramped for us which made it uncomfortable
The location is perfect the reception staff were fantastic and the apartment itself was excellent !
It had everything needed for a short stay the bed was comfortable as were the sofas in the lounge. It it also has a very well equipped kitchen .
Lovely location, very helpful owner

Lovely room lovely shower
I didn't appreciate the staff telling my ex partner that I stayed and how I paid after their card machine didn't work. My business is my own and I feel my information was given out by staff members
The ground floor apartment was so cosey we had lounge, master bedroom and kitchen and bathroom. Kitchen had oven pans and plates so we made our own breakfast. We stayed on bed sofa and it was a lovely comfortable sleep.
The location is perfect right opposite the Pavillion Gardens
Parking was difficult at times especially Saturday with opera house goers.
The accommodation was a lot more spacious than I initially thought from the pictures which was a pleasant surprise. I stayed with my partner and our 1 year old, so having space for her to run around was ideal. The courtyard bit was also pleasant and felt like we had privacy even though we were right in the middle. Located opposite the opera house and park as well also meant we got to make the most out of our stay. We're definitely coming back in the summer!
Nothing really, phone signal was difficult and we couldn't use the Samsung dongle on the TV to screen share our ipad (ideal for the little one to watch some teletubbies occassionally!) but that was no big deal. Overall the place was brilliant.
Cosy, clean and spacious. Location was perfect for the Opera House.
.
Clean and comfortable.
The ulliminated fire exit sign in the room we had.
Beutiful room, frendly staff, great location, just across the road from the theatre and close to shops and restaurants.
We stayed in the Dome room, and there were very steep stairs leading to our room, which some people might struggle with.
V comfortable bed and bed linen.Appreciated the tea, coffee, biscuits etc.Bathroom was v clean as was the living room.V good location perfect for the opera house.
The fridge needed a clean. The louvred blinds in the bedroom didn’t exclude the light from outside security lights unfortunately.
Everything!
Nothing
The staff were friendly and welcoming, the venue is in a great location, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Also the shower in the room was excellent! Great water pressure for an old building.
Quirky suite
could not switching on hot water in shower but it was too late at night to ask help to sort out
Everyone an everything
Nothing
The bedroom and bathroom are large, the bed was very comfortable,my wife and I stayed in the opera house room. The staff were nice,I met one of the house keepers, and she was very nice. The breakfast was very good,we would stay at this property again.
Their are number of stairs to climb, especially with a heavy suitcase.the tv didn't have many channels, even a number of free view channels were missing. The weather was very poor, either snowing,or raining or slush, that wasn't the Tea rooms fault, also their was alot of noise from people coming from the pub across the road.Again nothing to do with the Tea rooms.
Proximity to Opera House and town centre
Fabulous location. Lovely room, staff helpful and friendly.
Amazing location. Lovely room and very comfortable bed!
Great location and traditional building. I’m sure other rooms were great but ours was not.
Room was up many narrow awkward stairs with very little headroom. My partner if 6’3” so he was Very restricted in every room. I am 5’7” and I bumped my head a few times so I really felt for him. The room was ‘Dome’ room was noisy all night as the wind was kicking up a cable or something on the roof and slapping it against the tiles. Room had no view as the only window to the front was a high skylight in the bathroom. We hightailed it out of there as early as possible without trying the breakfast. Very expensive for a third class room.
Pretty hotel with lovely tea room and close to nice restaurants

The decor was lovely and the room was of a good size .The shower was brilliant. The breakfast was exceptional and staff friendly.
My only compliant is that we stayed 2 nights and I think water and coffee should have been replenished in the room.
