It is a good 35 minute bus ride into Edinburgh. The smoke detector above the beds all flash a white light at night.

The Melville exceeded expectations - a well maintained and tastefully furnished hotel with excellent restaurant facilities - the photos don’t do the place justice . Ample parking and 12noon checkout make for a relaxed, stress free stay - a 5 star all round experience !

Comfortable, clean and convenient with helpful and very friendly front desk and cleaning staff.

My only complaint would be the window that doesn’t open. The air unit left the room damp and our clothes and purchased snacks became moist and uncomfortable, and somewhat musty. Some fresh air circulation would do a lot to alleviate this.

The hotel was clean and so was the room. The pillows were uncomfortable at first but after speaking to the duty manager they were changed.

I booked breakfast for the three days and would definitely not recommend. The restaurant was not clean with food splatters on the walls. The staff were stretched thin and struggled to remember whose orders they had taken with upto a 25 minute wait not once but twice. Had the full English breakfast and was deeply disappointed as it was cold on arrival, mentioned this to staff and was assured it would be improved the following morning, sadly this was not the case. Unfortunately because I had not booked directly with the hotel I was told there was nothing they could do...very disappointing response 😔

Lovely comfy room and bed, clean and perfectly appointed for all our needs. Our reception desk lady was so friendly and helpful. The pub staff were fun, helpful and attentive. The food ..Sunday roast was delicious.

We loved everything about our stay. The room was beautiful, spacious and spotlessly clean. The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast were delicious and very well prepared. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxing, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

There was nothing we didn’t like. Everything was perfect for our stay.

- Ask for a room on an upper floor! We were on the ground floor, and it often felt as though the guests upstairs were about to come through our ceiling because of how loud the footsteps were. I swear I’m not a “Karen”, but it was beyond acceptable. It’s true that the guests staying above us for the first two nights had children running around the room, and they were extremely inconsiderate, but things didn’t improve on the last night, when the guests had clearly changed. We could hear every single step as if the floor was about to collapse. - We were given an accessible room: don’t book it, or only do so if you have no other option! We wanted to change rooms because the accessible bathroom was really too bare-bones: a tiny sink, and everything was so basic that it felt more like a PUBLIC RESTROOM than a hotel bathroom. For the price I paid, I would expect a different level of service. We asked whether it would be possible to move to a standard room. That same evening, we were told there would be no problem; the following morning, we were told they would let us know, only to eventually be told that it wasn’t possible. Again, considering how much it costs (I understand it’s Edinburgh), I would expect more.

Everything was excellent but could be a little noisy at times shower was exceptional but I think given the price that breakfast should have been included but overall a very enjoyable stay amd would most definitely stay again.

The hotel was exceptional. The staff were very friendly and very professional The room was spotless and well appointed. I could have spent all day in that bed! The food was excellent, and service was swift and friendly. The ventilation/aircon was very good and controls were easy to understand....plus it actually worked....which is rare.

A small fridge with complimentary water would have been a nice touch, and a slightly wider desk for a laptop would have been ideal.

L’insonorisation avec l’étage est catastrophique, on entend énormément les bruits de pas au-dessus, Le prix… 390€ la nuit (340£). Oui c’est le mois d’août, mais à un moment donné, demander autant pour une chambre qui n’en vaut même pas la moitié, c’est scandaleux. Quand je vois ça, je me dis que notre monde est vraiment malade…

Very comfortable room with good air conditioning. It's out of the centre so a bit cheaper than the crazy hotel prices in central Edinburgh, but you can get in and out by taxi or bus pretty easily.

Posizione, scomoda, ma molto ben fornita da mezzi pubblici, personale assente il giorno del check in, siamo arrivati alle 12.30 e non c'era nessuno alla reception, abbiamo telefonato come da indicazioni, ci hanno detto che sarebbero arrivati a breve, ma poi non sono arrivati. Abbiamo quindi fatto un giro ad Edimburgo e siamo tornati in serata.

Lenzuola sporche e rubinetto del lavandino che c’è rimasto in mano. Per essere così fuori mano l’ho trovato molto caro. Il ristorante ha un servizio maleducato e i piatti dei menu bambini erano ridicoli. La prima sera due e dico due di numero bastoncini Findus con tre patatine e mezza carota per GBP10 , la seconda sera MEZZO HAMBURGER carbonizzato. Spiegandoci che erano porzioni da bambino. Sì ma grammalo giusto l hamburger, non me lo tagli a metà e presenti nel piatto! Questa cosa poi che la coalizione in Scozia non è quasi mai incluse deve finire, per quanto sono care le camere, tre fette di pane e un po di marmellata non può avere un extra charge ogni volta! Ancje per i bambini più piccoli

The hotel was clean and they staff are all really friendly, the hotel is next to the pub and Dobbies garden, therre is a little children play area across the car park.

The room was abit on the small side, my son struggled to sleep he said the bed was uncomfortable, the location isn't great it's about a mile walk to the nearest shop if you want anything for your room, the bus into Edinburgh takes about 40mins to an hour depending where you wan to get on/off. The buses get very busy which can be difficult if you are travelling with luggage, push chairs etc. The food in the pub is expensive but nice.

De kamer was schoon en ruim, personeel heel erg vriendelijk en het ontbijt erg goed verzorgd. De bus naar Edinburgh stopt op 300 meter lopen van de ingang.

Een zeer kleine wasbak in de badkamer vond ik heel onpraktisch. Daarnaast miste ik de mogelijkheid om een raam open te kunnen doen. De kamer werd daardoor wat muf.

My husband and I spent the night here as a stop for another destination. And because it was in close proximity and had free parking spaces, we opted to stay. Initially booked it as a standard stopover, but we ended up being suprised and thoroughly pleased with our stay. Such a wonderful gem of a place! First off, we liked that there were options ro check in remotely, and online because we were travelling straight from work. Second, along with the ease of remote check-in, we had the opportunity to notify the property of our ETA online too, taking into consideration traffic and road works that we passed along the way. These have been lifesavers for us! When we got to the property, there were plenty of parking spaces and despite the late check-in (about 11pm), we were greeted by the receptionist warmly and was very accommodating and helpful (- this was such a nice relief coming from a long day at work followed by an almost 3- hour drive!). During our stay, we were assigned room 19. It was spacious, and impeccably clean all throughout. The bed was comfortable, airconditioning super amazing (best sleep ever), and the bathroom was spotless. Like usual hotel rooms, it had most of the amenities expected: coffee/tea station, clothes rack and hangers, hair dryer, television, desk, armchair and toiletries. It was beautifully and contemporarily designed, making our short overnight stay absolutely comfortable. Breakfast was served in the pub to the side of the property, and it had a quaint and cosy vibe. We were greeted by friendly staff that ushered us to our table and explained the mechanics of their breakfast system. The drinks station was completely self-serve, so you could help yourself to as much coffee, tea, and juice. They handed us menu cards with breakfast staples to choose from that were freshly made to order. My husband and I both chose the full english, and it was delicious! Shame that we only had to stay overnight, because we had a really comfortable...

My only suggestion is perhaps there could be options for firmer pillows either to be requested, or made available inside the room. The pillows provided were of great quality, but I found them too soft for my liking. Otherwise everything was perfect!

Nos gustó todo: el personal fue muy amable, la habitación grande con una cama muy cómoda y el baño limpio y estupendo. Aunque estuviera en las afueras, en seguida por prácticamente una libra llegabas al centro de Edimburgo en 40-50 minutos. Buen precio comparado con los hoteles del centro. Además podías desayunar/cenar en la taberna de al lado por un precio adicional. Si vuelvo a Edimburgo me volvería a alojar aquí!!

Le seul gros bemol : l'odeur ; La fenêtres ne s'ouvre pas et la ventilation de la chambre ne fonctionnait pas. L'accueil est plutôt inégal en fonction des personnes : accueil efficace et cordial... ou quelqu'un derriere le desk plongé sur son ordinateur avec les écouteurs sur les oreilles.

Sehr gut mit dem Auto erreichbar am Rand von Edinburgh. Parkplatz vor der Tür. Super Anbindung per Linienbus (Linien 3, 29, X29, N3, Dobbies Garden Centre / Melville Nursery) an die Innenstadt (ca. 30 Minuten). Tolles Frühstück und vor allem super nettes und hilfsbereites Personal!

Breakfast was good. Location was further away from Edinburgh than we wanted, but it was August so we were not spoilt for choice. Overall though the area was good and the restaurant choice in walking distance nearby was very good.

Beds are quite hard. Had to ask for toilet rolls. Appreciate that rooms are probably aimed at business travellers but very little storage space for two people’s clothes for four nights. Would prefer a proper wardrobe and some drawer space rather than a hanging rail and one small drawer.

Room location next to the cleaners cupboard meant there was constant slamming of fire doors and chatter outside our room. Waking us up every morning before 7am. The door next to our room opened and closed constantly every 3 minutes, slamming and banging.

All the staff were very friendly. The hotel and rooms were clean and tidy. We had meals in the restaurant which were very tasty and good value for money. There was plenty of parking available.

There wasn't anything not to like.

Das Hotel war vom Flughafen aus gut zu erreichen und von dort aus kamen wir gut nach Edinburgh rein mit dem Auto. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das dazugehörende Restaurant / Pub ist sehr gemütlich, das Frühstück war sehr gut.

We liked everything and have been so many times! This was the first time we have been in the summer months and it was so lovely to sit outside and eat at the restaurant. I can't recommend this place enough!

Really lovely room, super comfortable and well appointed. Both the room and hallways were clean and smelt nice. Lovely shower and toiletries, great towels (big and fluffy) and a really powerful hairdryer. Plenty of parking and the pub across the road had great food options, including making adjustments for an allergy.

Einfacher Checkin. Wir waren vor der Zeit dort, wurden aber sehr freundlich empfangen und das Zimmer war bereit. Im Angrenzenden Gebäude [20m] gab es Abends eine reiche Auswahl an Speisen undas Frühstück war ebenfalls sehr gut.

Mancava un asciugamano e carta igienica mancante. Vasca/doccia che perdeva da un lato bagnando pavimento del bagno. . Alla reception al nostro arrivo la persona che ci accolto in maniera gentile e professionale ci ha confermato la prenotazione presso loro ristorante, però poi abbiamo dovuto aspettare oltre mezza ora per il tavolo.

Manjši hotel v predmestju Edinburga, 20 min. vožnje od letališča. Pred hotelom je ogromno parkirišče, ki si ga hotel deli z bližnjim vrtnim centrom in ni nikoli povsem zasedeno. Zraven je avtobusna postaja, vožnja do centra mesta traja cca 30 min. Ob hotelu je restavracija, super hrana.

El personal del hotel es muy amable, paciente y atento. Las instalaciones están muy bien. Las habitaciones son muy cómodas y espaciosas, con todo lo necesario para una estancia agradable. El hotel está a unos vertiente minutos en coche del centro de Edimburgo, pero cuenta con parking propio, y allí al lado pasan un par de líneas de buses que te dejan en el centro de Edimburgo.

Apparement, bowling n'avait pas transmis que la réservation était pour 4 personnes donc lit non préparé... ?! La personne de l'hôtel a eu du mal à comprendre sur le moment. rien de grave.
