Good location, comfortable room, good breakfast
Location excellent. Pub and accommodation comfortable with everything we might need. Good breakfast cooked to order and served on hot plates. Staff efficient and friendly.
Great central location in Sherborne with a long stay car park nearby. The staff were fantastic and the room well equipped, very comfortable and clean. It was a lovely touch to have a small fridge with a jug of water and a great selection of teas and snacks. Our veggie breakfast was excellent - would highly recommend!
Great location in centre of Sherborne. Liked the family suite
Charming and welcoming staff, very helpful and excellent breakfast.
Excelente desayuno! Muy buena ubicación!

Everything was excellent but the staff stood out as helpful and friendly.
Staff was exceptional, location was very convenient.
Breakfast was good but would have liked to see a few more vegetarian options
Location, staff,cleanliness, breakfast drinks.
Excellent location in the heart of Sherborne, yet quiet. Good breakfast in nice room.
room and bathroom filled with fake flowers and plants. Wholly unnecessary
Friendly and helpful staff. Extremely comfortable, spacious accommodation

Staff were so lovely and helpful. Great location.

Family room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. Lovely selection of tea, coffee and snacks. Included breakfast was also very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.
The location. The evening meals were enjoyable as were the beverages. Also. Nice to sit outside when the sun shines.
We were allocated room 2. We were shown the room and took occupation. Later in the day. Several attempts to gain access to our room were made using a key. Non were successful. Later We found out why. There are no numbers on the bedroom doors?? Breakfast was interesting. Arriving downstairs to empty tables. When asked by the waitress, what I wanted for breakfast, I asked for wholemeal toast, two poached eggs, two rashers of bacon and a cup of coffee. Which is exactly what I got. Unfortunately, she didn’t cotton-on to the other necessary requirements. Like, salt and pepper, butter, marmalade, sugar, a side plate and an extra knife to spread the butter and eventually, marmalade, which I had forgotten to ask for. That needs sorting urgently.
Really lovely room and excellent breakfast
All good
Super helpful and friendly staff and great location.
No room numbers on bedroom Doors caused some confusion:
I like the location and the comfortable room and the fact that there is a fridge in the room for fresh milk
My room wasn’t serviced on one of the days and there was no fresh milk on arrival or teaspoons in the room.
Loved the location, friendly staff and fabulous room. There were of us. We shared the family suite; 1 huge king size bedroom, 1 separate twin room, both had seating and overlooking the square and a very clean and airy bathroom. Perfect for a girlie friend stopover.
Could of done with a vanity unit in bedrooms, but just being picky now!
Excellent location, friendly, helpful attentive staff, decent breakfast with no limit on coffee top ups
bedroom door did not auto- lock when closed
Perfect location in middle of the town. Great food and lovely room.
Nothing.
Excellent
Central in Sherborne, comfortable bed
Huge amounts of dead flies in the room, with a smell of sewage. No apologies when raised with the staff, and they just opened the windows. Breakfast was reheated and very poor. Bells from local church ring every 15 minutes and neither me nor my colleague was able to sleep with the noise.
Very central location. Breakfast was good.
Very noisy. Bed was hard and not very comfortable. The window had to be propped open to get air in and then the street noise and morning stall step up was very noisy.
Excellent
Very clean and stylish

Breakfast was fabulous. Room was good but a lick of paint in various places would make it even better. Wide range of teas/coffee with crisps and fruit a pleasant surprise. Overall a great package.
It's the little things that can make a big difference. Windows in the room could do with a clean.
The breakfast was fresh, local and tasty
Everything was perfect for a clean and comfortable room in an old pub in the centre of Sherbourne. The snack and beverages in the room were a lovely touch, and the bed was very comfortable. It is superbly located in the centre of the city, and some say it is noisy, but we liked waking to the centre coming alive in the morning.
Very comfortable and had a fridge in for fresh milk etc.
a little noise disturbance from other rooms
Location
Location was great, close to Abbey, shops and places to eat.
Nothing
The hotel was spotlessly clean and we liked the fact that dogs were not allowed into the bedrooms. The rooms were spacious, and the location, right in the middle of town and yet close to the train station, was convenient. There was a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Good idea to offer fresh milk and apples in the rooms, and coffee bags rather than an impossible machine. The breakfast menu was limited but what was on offer was well cooked and fresh.
The lighting in the room was too dim for reading. There was not much choice for vegetarians on the evening menu.
pretty poor,
Nicely decorated - great location. Staff were very pleasant.
Bit hot but upstairs so not surprising. Fan was very efficient which was great as it was pretty hot during our stay.
Food was wonderful, service exceptional. The accommodation was superb, comfortable & clean.
The staff were very friendly, room was spotless and the breakfast excellent.

Great location in the town. Quiet and convenient. Nice little bar and good food. Just what you need. All the staff were very helpful and lot.
Great staff, good food.
Breakfast and food and drink generally very good and staff were all exceptional. Megan stood out but they were all great. Location is superb.
The room was getting a little tired and if im being picky the cleaning was Ok but some of the detail not so good
We had the family suite for 4 adults so spacious and lovely decor x
Perfect for us but tall men may have problem with slanting ceiling in bathroom :)
We arrived on Sunday afternoon, checked in and was shown to our room. The room was very nice with views into the historic town of Sherborne. The only disappointment was walking into a freezing cold room as the weather conditions were cold and icy. It would have been nicer to have walked into a warm room. It was easy to resolve and we were soon warm enough. Breakfast was excellent. The cooked breakfast and coffee being the best we had eaten in a long time. We would recommend the Cross Keys for a good place to stay if you are visiting Sherborne and enjoy a town centre location.
Having the heating on before we arrived. 4th January the weather was freezing.
Chants de Noël toute la nuit. Lit peu comfortable.
Magical location in a range of medieval buildings clustering around the Abbey. I had a lovely room overlooking the square - very traditional but with all mod cons, including a powerful shower.Attention to detail eg fresh milk in the fridge for tea and coffee and a decanter of iced water. Effective and easily adjustable heating. Comfortable bed. Good multi-choice breakfast taken in the pub/restaurant area downstairs. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cheesy piped carols at breakfast (it was near Christmas).
The location was very central; the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. I can't think of a time when I've stayed somewhere and the staff were as helpful as at The Cross Keys. It wasn't just one or two staff members, it was everyone! They also had a great Jazz band in on Thursday evening - Ian Ellis Trio. They were just right for the space.
There was no free parking, and our room over the square was a bit noisy in the morning, especially when market traders were setting up their stalls on a Thursday.
Lovely food. Spotlessly clean room. Welcoming staff.
Nothing
Friendly staff, nice room great breakfast
The hotel is in a great location just minutes from the abbey. Our room was spacious, well furnished and very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff made our stay special as they were extremely helpful, welcoming and thoughtful. The breakfast was great- perfectly cooked and tasty local ingredients. We were even given a second cup of coffee when the staff noticed that first one had got low - exceptional service indeed. I would certainly recommend this hotel and we hope to return.
We could not fault it
Clean and tidy friendly and helpful staff excellent food perfect location
The rooms we had were beautifully furnished and decorated. Tea and coffee facilities were amazing and the beds were very comfortable. The restaurant staff were attentive and very helpful and the menu was more high cuisine than I’m use to and I wish I’d had the venison pie like my son. It looked delicious 🥰
The only things that would have been good was a working TV (I assume the batteries were flat in the remote) as we were only staying for one night we didn’t ask for it to be fixed but I did let them know in the morning and they were very apologetic.
Wonderfully welcoming staff. Great location. And amazing service
Food was first class. Top Staff
Staff and service were fantastic, food was absolutely delicious and our room was perfect including an extremely comfortable bed and everything spotless.
The breakfast.
The noise below the windows, the old sashes also rattled in the frames, nice touches with the snacks in the room, Early morning street market noise.
Amazing location and great staff
Very clean
The location was central and the staff were exceptional. Our room was very comfortable and quiet with 2 lovely comfy chairs
Perfectly situated, lovely comfortable room and very friendly staff.
Staff were great room lovely food excellent, over all very well looked after.
All of it
The staff was exceptional! Better than most 5 * properties these days. Professional , happy & went above and beyond expectations!!
Owner was very friendly and is always on loaction
Great location, very central with easy parking nearby. Room, staff and food all excellent.
Just a tiny bit of extra room cleaning, ie cobwebs would just make it superb.
Great location. Very attentive staff.
Independent hotel, great decor, fresh milk for tea/coffee not the usual UHT ! Bathrooms would benefit from updating but good powerful shower and soft, clean towels.
A notice as to whether room wld be cleaned /tidied per day or not. Though not an issue as only stayed 2 nights.
The staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast, the coffee was great, I would have loved to have had a Full English, but i didn't have time so i choose yogurt and granola, and that was delicious!
Nothing! :)
Very homely, cosy and perfect for the purpose of my trip. Bed is very comfy - food great and staff are super friendly and welcoming.
Nothing really - if being super picky, could be done with an extra shelf in the bathroom. That’s it.
Lovely spacious room, very comfortable bed, excellent central location
Lovely room, comfortable and stylish. Had everything we needed and the fan was a great addition in this warm weather. Excellent location, right in the centre of town
Nothing, all was good
Breakfast was delightful: the food was good, the proportions generous and the service great.
Possibly the toast was a bit thick, which some people might like but I prefer a bit thinner.
Good staff excellent breakfast and dinner
Room needs a little tidying re painting
A Gem of Comfort and Elegance. From the moment we arrived, we felt wrapped in tranquility. The suite was immaculately clean, tastefully decorated with modern touches, and surprisingly peaceful despite being in the heart of the town. We all had the perfect night’s sleep, and the square facing suite offered a gorgeous view over the cloisters. Breakfast was a delight—with generous servings and options for every dietary need, served with care and a smile. The staff truly elevated the experience: warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay special. Whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure, this boutique hotel is a sanctuary of style and comfort.
Nothing
On first viewing we loved the design of the room. Good central position.
Generally housekeeping needs improving, especially in the shower room. The actual shower had a lot of mouldy silicone Skirting board was falling off of the wall. Sink was dirty. The room wasn't serviced during our stay. Carpet in bedroom badly stained. The location was great although we hadn't anticipated the impact of the bells from the Abbey clock which was every 15 minutes even during the night.
Breakfast was great. Staff are excellent. Rooms are superb.
Slightly cheaper price
Mo was the perfect host, very helpful and friendly.
