⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a wonderful stay! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the facilities were clean, neat, and very well maintained. I especially loved the beautiful old historic furniture—it gives the hotel so much character and creates a unique, charming atmosphere. And the breakfast was absolutely amazing! Definitely a 10/10. Everything was delicious and a perfect way to start the day. A lovely experience overall, and we would definitely recommend this hotel! ❤️
Breakfast was great; staff were great; room was great; bar food was great
We enjoyed the whole ambience , bar Resturant - food was great ! - All staff and management very welcoming and friendly thankyou 🙏
Location was beautiful
The beds were terrible.. extremely uncomfortable....mattresses were clearly old and not been changed for years
The quaint, homely environment was amazing. Attention to detail and guests was excellent. Food was like a home cooked meal and excellent value for money.
Everything
Nothing
The staff were super friendly and accommodating to our needs. The food was really good! Beds so comfortable.
Perfect location and such a beautiful hotel. Lovely staff and the rooms are comfortable and have everything you need.
The atmosphere, friendly staff, music on Sunday
The stay was like always very satisfying however we were very disappointed with the dinner. My husband could not eat the steak he ordered, very tuff and tasteless.
Visoting Rawdons is like stepping back in time. Dinner was simple but good, the room was comfortable if a little dated, bed was excellent and the sheets a good quality. Breakfast had a good selection.
Everything, just the bed was noisy and not very comfortable
The bed
The beds seemed old and too soft. All other aspects were very good
My husband and I loved the atmosphere created by the hotel. The antique furniture took us back in time. We simply loved the pub and supper area. Staff were very accomdating and friendly. We chose one of the coldest days and the fires were continuely burning keeping the hotel very warm. Beds were extremely comfortable. Food was also beautifully prepared especially the dinner. Thank you to the chef. Well done Rawdons. Will def be back.
Breakfast was excellent, lovely variety. Location is great.
Needs a little more of a good clean
Friendly staff warm rooms a charming Hotel that still has a homely atmosphere
Very friendly staff
No electric blankets, no water to shower in the morning
Check in was simple, great location, dinner and breakfast was delicous.
Building is old, understandable was built in 1959, beds were not comfortable at all, duvets were light considering it was winter.
I stayed at Rawdons with my family as a teenager and came back with friends in my 20’s but it has been over a decade since. This time I came with my wife and daughter. It is still the good old charming classic country hotel with the creaking wooden floors, antique furniture and artwork. Love that it hasn’t changed and that it is in good nick too!
Food was incredible
.
It’s as stunning as the photos

Excellent service, friendly staff

Such a beautiful olde world hotel in a great location. Our room was huge with a window seat overlooking the gardens to the lake and the staff were excellent. We loved our little slice of luxury
It took a long time to get hot water
Lovely dinner and breakfast was really good.
Very friendly staff. Homey and warm and welcoming. Beautiful location and facilities. Old world charm in the Midlands. Very charming.
Warm , great staff and delicious food
One of our favourite places to visit. Staff are friendly, food is great and beds are comfortable.
This is the second time that the brewery did not have stock…
Everything
Nothing
The beds are comfy, the rooms are equipped with a heater, fan and hairdryer and a heated towel rail. The food was very good - we had dinner at the pub and breakfast in the dining hall.
The underfloor heating wasn't working in the bathroom and when we told the manager, she was very flippant in her response. A WhatsApp request for more toilet paper was ignored for over an hour. Don't expect exceptional or quick service, some of the restaurant staff make you feel like they are doing you a favour by taking your order and bringing you your food and drinks. The hotel needs a lot of maintenance, it's looking a bit run down.
Lovely area
Pub was fully booked and restaurant area in need of a decor update.
Excellent
Nothing
Great location and character
Breakfast staff very slow and food average
We had a lovely large room, where we all fitted comfortably. We also had a wonderful view of the dam from our bedroom and lounge windows.
Our room was old
Cozy comfortable hotel with beautiful tranquil gardens and delicious choices of breakfast options.
It would be great to have an activity offered in the morning like pilates or yoga as the winters are cold and it is not always pleasant to walk outdoors.
The location
The staff is friendly but overworked- long shifts. The service in the restaurant and pub was shocking… food substandard. We asked for large cups of coffee at breakfast and got very decorative mismatched cracked mugs apparently the staffs mugs as the hotel doesn’t have any! Such a shame as it is a beautiful old hotel but totally mismanaged.
Best place I have been in a long time. Took me back to England/Scotland🤗 The most welcoming, beautiful place with a warm feeling. Best breakfast ever. I will be back!
The mattress in our room were really worn😔
The history, brewery and food
That this used to be the fly/ trout fishing destination and now it’s completely ignoring the history. Such a pity. As a result may stay somewhere else and just come for the food and beer.

Excellent breakfast, loved the authentic pub for dinner. Beautiful grounds, and excellent brewery on-site.
Put the wi-fi password in the room. Shower could do with an upgrade.
Perfect breakfast. Homemade muesli the best. Omelettes, Eggs Benedict and selection of cheeses delicious.
The shower took very long to produce hot water.
The location was great!. It was close to my our families' function at the Netherwood farm and Gallery Wedding venues.
I didn't like the weather . It was icy cold outdoors, but the indoors had heaters, which kept the place warm .
Room - Great Dinner - Good , service also good. Breakfast - Great. Garden - great Building - nice exactly what I expected.
I Thought all was good , can really find anything to complain about.
It was my Wifes 40th Birthday and they made it so memorable for us. A true Gem.
Breakfast and Dinner was great
I stayed in room 16 and it had a bad drain smell.
This is a beautiful stay. Comfortable bed and warm room on a chilly night.
The staff. Unwelcoming. I had been recommended Rawdons as a welcoming country hotel. And as lovely as the setting was, it really is staff that make it a welcoming experience.
Great amazing location.
Slightly outdated hotel but it did add to the authenticity of being in the midlands
Very welcoming staff and management. Awesome location. Clean and hygienic.

Beds very comfortable. Beautiful setting. Lovely peaceful atmosphere. Stunning walks around the property. Well marked out.
Food was very disappointing. Service at breakfast was terrible. Not enough staff for a public holiday morning.
Room was very nice. Pillows need replacing & hairdryer was very poor quality and then stopped working but besides these 2 small things everything else was great. Breakfast was wonderful all boxes ticked for anything you wanted. The furnishings were top quality and beautiful. Loved the underfloor heating & heated towel rack in the bathroom. The views of the water were lovely too.
Pillows needed replacing as they have no filling. Hairdryer poor quality.
Beautiful old building and mature garden
The property could benefit from a deep clean
It has such old world charm in a beautiful setting. The pub is great and cozy with fires lit daily. Close the shops in Nottingham Road and other attractions
It is a little tired in parts. Bed a little springy.
Location
Old wooden floors.
The quaintness and historical but excellent service appealed to me
Nil
Old style full of history, good food, lovely setting, nothing too fancy. The pub is great.
No information booklet with history of the hotel, no WiFi code..
Room was great, breakfast was divine
No complaints
We stayed in Room 2 - a comfortable room. We had a good breakfast - typical 'Continental' and 'English' breakfasts were offered. Location is excellent, very attractive grounds. By accident, we switched on under floor heating in the bathroom, which is a good feature.
Many things - this hotel is lacking care and attention to details. Shower water never got hot, only warm. Bathroom washbasin water ran for literally 5 minutes and never got hot. Bathroom floor was tiled with glossy, slippery when wet, tiles - no anti slip mat provided. Light switches had dirty surrounding panels. No instructions provided on how to use the wall mounted heating switches. A bedroom windowpane was broken. One of the windows could not properly close because the frame was distorted. Window catches were all dilapidated. This is a cold place in winter but no electric blankets were provided. The provided tiny electric fan heater ran full bore for at least two hours before the room started to feel warm. And be prepared for creaking floors, everywhere - this is a 70 year old building.
The tastefully furnished rooms which were remarkably balanced with a touch of old and new enhanced the ambiance and comfort of the accommodation. The presentation of the meals added to the excellent variety of dishes offered at breakfast and dinner.
There was nothing to dilike
A good range of dinner meals, promptly supplied and tasty. Breakfast offered many options and we particularly enjoyed the toasted muesli! Room was comfortable and the en-suite bathroom well appointed.
The cupboard housing the tea and coffee makers needs a strip light or similar, as it's way too dark.
Breakfast was great. Room was comfortable.
Everything was as per expectations.
Location
Lack of signage to evening dining room, which turned out to be in the pub. Very creaky floors, maybe should be renailed? Food served for dinner was tough and it was chicken! Obviously old, poor quality bird.
It was just lovely
Loved everything
Really beautiful place
Like everything
An excellent country style hotel with a magnificent garden
Amazing atmosphere
Bathroom needs renovation. Water running over the floor when showering
Beautiful, true Midlands style, friendly staff
Very comfortable rooms. The location is close to everything, yet very peaceful. They serve a lovely breakfast.
Beautiful setting
The rooms we were in had coffee on the wall. The TV wasn’t working but the staff were efficient and sorted it out. The decor had a headboard that the leather was peeling off
The view of the surrounding area was exquisite. We booked two rooms and the one room we booked had excellent heating. The bed was quite comfortable.
The hotel could do with a renovation, it is outdated, a bit dark and there are a lot of water stains on the roof. The rooms could have been cleaned better, they weren't bad but not a four star experience. The heating was not working in one of the rooms. A card for the WIFI should be in every room, you shouldn't have to ask reception. The WIFI in general was not up to standard.
Everything!!!
Not much
Room was clean and staff was exceptionally wonderful and assisted us with everything we requested Breakfast was also amazing , tasty and filling. Bed linen was clean and bed comfortable
Only if there was heater, air conditioner or heated blanket for cold days
Always an awesome stay
Nothing bad to report
Great one night stop-over. Breakfast was delightful.
From the start, we loved being at Rawdowns. Check-in was quick and friendly. We were allocated the family "Lake Cottage" which was a quaint thatch cottage on the edge of the lake. The cottage was tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture and 2 huge , comfortable king size beds. The shower was spacious and modern and the pressure was perfect with lots of hot water. The evening was a bit chilly but there was an abundant amount of chopped firewood to make a cosy fire. In the morning, we took the short walk to the hotel where a buffet breakfast awaited (included in the price). There were lots to choose from including teas/coffees, a variety of cereals and yoghurts, stewed fruits, a tasty cheese board ,fresh scones and an assortment of sweet treats. Added to this, a menu was available with hot breakfast choices.
That we never discovered Rawdons Hotel before this trip ;)
