Cardamon Hotel Nilaveli

Un sitio genial para pasar unos dias en Tricomalee, desde su ubicación hasta su personal siempre muy atento, la comida (pizzas y parrillada de pescado)... Todo fue un 10. El hotel está justo en la playa y sus instalaciones estan muy bien. Sin duda, si vuelvo a Sri Lanka volvere al mismo sitio.

Abends mit den Füßen im Sand unter Palmen bei Meeresrauschen frisch gegrillten Fisch oder ein feines Curry genießen, das ist das Cardamon Hotel! Die Lage am Strand ist perfekt, das Meer gut zum Schwimmen geeignet und das Personal super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Pool ist sauber und groß und die Atmosphäre sehr entspannt. Ein Ort der Ruhe und Erholung! Unserer Meinung nach die beste Unterkunft an diesem Strandabschnitt. Für Taucher und Walbeobachter ist der Diving Guru gleich nebenan. Klare Empfehlung!

Der bereits erwähnten Probleme mit dem Bad gibt es, sind aber nicht dramatisch. Das Bier im Restaurant ist nicht immer kalt.

Localisation en bord d’océan, la vue de la piscine sur l’océan était splendide. Transat gratuit pour les residents de l’hôtel et personnel aux petits soins ! Nous avons mangé midi et soir au restaurant de la plage et le cadre les pieds dans l’eau est formidable !! Il y avait même une balançoire pour faire de super photo ! Merci beaucoup !

Tout était très bien sauf peut être le « sent bon » utilisé dans la sdb et la chambre qui dégage une odeur que nous avons trouvé peu agréable .. mais cela relève du détail qui n’a en rien gâché notre expérience dans ce sublime hôtel.

Ligging direct aan een proper strand met ruim voldoende ligbedden en parasols (begin september). Ook een proper onderhouden zwembad met een supervriendelijke pool / beach boy die zijn klanten persoonlijk kent. Ruime kamer, goed bed. Er is materiaal om te suppen, paddle boarden en te kayaken. Mini goals om te voetballen. Korting als je cash betaald.

Absolutely loved our time here! The sea view is breathtaking, and having the beach right at your doorstep makes it an incredible getaway. The room itself is beautiful, the bathtub setup is wonderful, and having both strong AC and a ceiling fan made the stay super comfortable. A massive shoutout to the local staff,they are genuinely wonderful, super accommodating, and worked so hard to take great care of us throughout our stay. Make sure to try the evening pizza (it’s delicious!) and definitely order the fresh king coconut with a squeeze of lime, refreshing and great value at 600 LKR. We’re so glad we came and truly want to see this place and its lovely crew thrive!

This spot has so much potential to be truly exceptional, and the hard-working local team deserves support from management with a few facility fixes: Plumbing: The bathtub tap was scorching hot, but the handheld spray attachment only sprayed cold water, and the main shower didn't get quite hot enough. The temperature controls just need a proper repair. Access Road: The long dirt road connecting the main road to the property is very rough and bumpy,paving it would make arrivals much easier. TV Setup: The TV only features region-locked apps; upgrading to Google TV or adding YouTube for international guests would be a fantastic touch. Helpful Guest Tips: The kitchen staff is small, so dinner orders can take a bit of time—order your meals early so the team has plenty of time to prepare! Food and fresh juices are on the higher resort pricing side, and the pool would benefit from a bit more frequent skimming for outdoor leaves and bugs. (Just ask and they will clean)

Super hôtel nous avons passé un très bon séjour. La chambre était très agréable, et l’accès direct sur la plage était idéal. Mention spécial au service à l’accueil ainsi qu’à la personne qui s’occupe de l’extérieur et de l’installation des transats sur la plage, très sympathique et professionnel !

Service de restauration très long le matin pour le petit déjeuner. Nous avons parfois attendu 1 heure pour avoir un pancake alors que le restaurant était vide.

We spent four amazing days at Cardamon Hotel Nilaveli and really loved our stay. The hotel is right on the beach, with rooms overlooking the sea and the pool. The hotel has its own pool, sunbeds on the beach and a restaurant where you can order food and drinks and have dinner right by the sea. Our room was spacious, with a terrace and a sea view. The staff were super friendly and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed. Nilaveli Beach itself is beautiful, calm and not overcrowded or overdeveloped. The hotels are not big or imposing and fit well into the natural surroundings, with some good restaurants along the beach. In August the water was crystal clear and completely flat. Highly recommended.

Directly located on a quiet and relaxing beach. Great to recharge your batteries! Nice and attentive service in general. Very spacious rooms with large bathroom area. In general it is a nice hotel but personally I feel some important details are missing for services that would be essential on a beach hotel.

Breakfast is a-la-carte and does not have such a variety (absence of a real coffee is a big minus in my opinion) so I preferred to have breakfast somewhere else. Unfortunately the bar at the beach, despite some good juices and an OK pizza, does not serve any cocktails that would be perfect while staying at the beach (you should take note from the bar next door for example). Cleaning service is not done daily and on demand and needs to be reminded various times before being done.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location right in front of the beach is perfect, and the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere made our stay even more enjoyable. The food at the beach bar was excellent, with delicious dishes and great quality. We would also like to highlight the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, who provided outstanding service throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

Struttura bellissima, direttamente sul mare. Bellissimo scendere dalla camera e ritrovarsi direttamente sulla spiaggia. Camera grande e pulita.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel. Es liegt direkt an einem wunderschönen Strandabschnitt und die Aussicht von unserem Balkon auf das Meer war traumhaft. Die Zimmer waren schön und das Personal jederzeit sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Auch das dazugehörige Restaurant können wir sehr empfehlen. Es gab frischen Fisch, sehr gute Pizzas und auch die traditionellen sri-lankischen Gerichte haben uns sehr gut geschmeckt. Besonders aufmerksam fanden wir den Service am Strand. Jeden Morgen wurden die Liegen für uns bereitgestellt und unsere Kinder konnten sich Bodyboards ausleihen, wenn es etwas Wellen hatte. Für uns war außerdem die Lage direkt neben der Tauchschule Divingguru perfekt, da wir dort tauchen waren und nur wenige Schritte gehen mussten.

Connected to the Nilaveli beach. Lovely for see bathing. Beach restaurant was great. Kids enjoyed the swimming pool too.

Facility does not have a power generator. if there is a power cut in the night, you will sweat in the room. We had that experience for 3 hours in the first night. Beach restaurant closes by 9:30 PM. That's too early I guess. However when you walk along the beach there are enough restaurants.

The property is situated in a great location and offers an amazing restaurant on the beach.

La localisation et le confort des chambres vue mer. Très belle plage, suffisamment de transats et matelas.

La lenteur du service à table. Le fait que les hôteliers parlent très mal anglais : difficile de se faire comprendre.

Top locatie direct aan het strand en ook nog een groot zwembad. Het hotel en de kamers zijn ruim opgezet met hoge plafonds. De duplex kamers bevinden zich op de bovenste verdieping (met de dakkapel) en hebben 2 airco’s. Op het strand zitten ook wat andere restaurantjes. Je kunt er op het strand eten. Om in het dorp te komen moet je een tuktuk nemen. Tip: cash afrekenen is voordeliger dan met kaart.

We hadden een keer packed breakfast gevraagd omdat we vroeg de dolfijnen/walvissen tour gingen doen. ‘s Ochtends was er niemand te vinden en lag ons ontbijt niet klaar in het restaurant. Het bleek bij de (slapende) portier te liggen, maar dat was ons niet verteld. Daardoor waren wij te laat bij de tour.

Très bel hôtel avec sa plage privée, bien entretenue, un vrai havre de paix!

Tolle Anlage direkt am Meer, das Personal war immer sehr hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend, toller Balkon, Pool und geräumige Zimmer. Das Essen war sehr lecker.

Das Bad hat etwas gerochen.

Struttura praticamente sul mare, comodissima per passare dei giorni di relax in quanto è presente una spiaggia privata ma la quantità di ombrelloni e sdraio non è adeguata per il numero di ospiti. Il ristorante è anche abbastanza buono. La cosa migliore della struttura è il personale che è davvero gentilissimo e sempre pronto ad aiutare con il sorriso. Purtroppo la struttura è un po’ datata e anche le stanze, la cui pulizia non era perfetta. A mio parere non c’è un buon rapporto qualità prezzo.

La posizione in riva al mare.

Struttura mal tenuta e assolutamente non in linea con il prezzo esposto (i corridoi sembrano un cantiere a cielo aperto). Nella camera suite è impossibile Dormire in quanto molto caldo e la pulizia è da rivedere.

Am Strand gibt es einige Restaurants. Aber für Minimarkets o.ä. sind es 700m über einen holprigen Weg bis zur Hauptstraße.

Estaba muy limpio. Unas vistas espectaculares si lo qe buscas es eso. El personal Es súper amable y la comida está rica. Te dan un zumo de bienvenida.

Como algo a mejorar y bastante, creo que el hotel debería estar preparado con una habitación de cortesía para cuando haces el check out a las 11( ya que no dan ni disponibilidad de quedate más tarde la habitación ni si quiera pagando), poder quedarte aprovechando las instalaciones y más tarde poder ducharte si es que de ahí ya vas hacia el aeropuerto que es lo que nos pasó a nosotros. Te dejan ducharte, si, en la ducha de la piscina que es al aire libre. Me parece un detalle muy feo por parte del hotel hacia sus clientes. Los horarios de comidas son muy reducidos. Además ni si quiera entra desayuno. Me parece que es un lugar increíble por sus vistas y donde está ubicado, pero por lo que se paga hay muchas cosas a mejorar.

Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre séjour. L'hôtel est idéalement placé en bord de mer, on y vit pied nus, entre notre chambre, la plage, la piscine, le restaurant et les ballades ou les expéditions plongées. La piscine est grande et très agréable. L'hôtel propose des bodyboards de grande qualité (à la location pour une somme modique et ils ne sont pas pénibles sur le durée de loc), les enfants ont adoré passer dans heures dans les vagues. Le restaurant nous a beaucoup plu aussi. Il faut s'attendre à ce que le service soit lent (slow life !) et n'oubliez pas de réserver, mais une fois installés les pieds de le sable, la cuisine proposée tient bien la route (four à pizza, plat sri lankais...), est variée, et le service est sympa. Et pour finir leur plus grande qualité : le service et l'accueil sont vraiment adorables, que cela soit à la réception, au restaurant ou sur la plage. Le staff est sympa, à l'écoute, et facilite la vie de ses hôtes. Nous recommandons.

L'hôtel dans son ensemble mériterait clairement un rafraichissement, il est un peu vétuste (comme beaucoup d'hôtels à Nilaveli apparement). Cela serait aussi l'occasion de faire un peu plus de déco (pour cacher les panneaux électriques par exemple), et de rajouter quelques équipements (des lampes de chevet par exemple...). Tout n'est pas parfait donc, mais honnêtement on ne manque de rien, les chambres sont grandes et belles avec leur beau parquet, tout fonctionne correctement, et l'hôtel dans son ensemble est bien équipé, bien pensé et très agréable à vivre.

Como destacan otros comentarios, la ubicación es inmejorable, en la misma orilla de la playa. La zona en la que se ubica es más limpia que la parte de Nilaveli que queda al sur y que está más contaminada por los vertidos de las barcas de pesca. La habitación era.muy amplia, con buenas vistas al mar y la cama cómoda. La limpieza en general era buena, aunque es cierto que le falta el cuidado al detalle de otros hoteles. Lo mismo ocurre con el mantenimiento, no malo, pero sí mejorable. En general, no hay nada que impida disfrutar del hotel y de la playa. Respecto al desayuno, comida y cena, buenas opciones para turistas (la pizza excepcional) y precios muy razonables. No incluimos el desayuno pero resultaba muy económico (alrededor de 5 euros por los dos desayunos). El personal agradabilísimo y muy profesional. Un encanto. En fin, disfrutamos mucho de los días de estancia y a un precio que parece razonable, aunque no barato, por la temporada y la ubicación.

Nuestra habitación tenía un aseo con bañera y sin separación. Visualmente muy bonito, pero resta mucha intimidad. Bastante lentos para servir el desayuno. Algo mejorable el mantenimiento en los detalles.

L’emplacement de l’hôtel est idéal pour un séjour plage : les pieds dans le sable, avec sa plage privée qui se transforme le soir en restaurant de plage qui vaut le coup d’y consacrer une soirée. Le plagiste est adorable.

Cher pour la qualité, le confort et le service proposé. Hôtel vieillissant : odeurs nauséabondes dans les chambres, climatisation défectueuse (mais rétablie après demande), inconfort des transats de plage. A l’arrivée, aucune explication du fonctionnement de l’hôtel, des prestations offertes ou activités alentours.

Wonderful stay in Nilaveli! We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Cardemom. The hotel has a beautiful location right on the beach, where you can enjoy delicious meals under the palm trees with a lovely view of the sea. The large swimming pool and spacious lawn were perfect for the children. The calm sea is ideal for swimming, and we highly recommend renting the bodyboards from the hotel! There are several lovely beachfront restaurants within walking distance, perfect for lunch or dinner. All in all, a wonderful and peaceful place that we highly recommend!

The reception staff was very helpful and accommodating. When we complained about the cleanliness of our initial room, they quickly moved us to another one. They also kindly gave us complimentary breakfast for our 2-night stay, which was a great gesture. The staff genuinely tries to help.

The price is outrageously high for the condition of the hotel. The property is very old—even the door handles are rusty. Our first room had excessively dirty bedsheets and stained curtains. The AC units smelled foul, and the whole interior is completely outdated. It lacks professionalism, and it feels like the management is just focused on making seasonal profit rather than providing a decent, customer-oriented experience. Terrible value for money

Hôtel pas trop grand. Parfait pour profiter à la fois de la mer, de la restaurations, de la piscine. la proximité avec la plage. C'est un hôtel à taille humaine. Gentillesse du personnel. tout est à porté de main.

La lenteur de la restauration mais c'est commun au Sri Lanka. Les chambres pourraient être plus souvent nettoyées.

Vriendelijk personeel, mooie locatie direct aan het strand en schone kamers. Heerlijk verblijf gehad.

Hier en daar is het wat gedateerd, verder oogt het geheel wat sfeerloos (met name de verlichting op de kamers). Restaurant op het strand wel gezellig (en lekker).

It was ok and it’s a good place relative to many other places in Trincomalee/Nilaveli. The rooms are big. The pool is nice and the beach too.

The facilities aren’t maintained that well. The staff cleans the room by demand which is great but the cleaning is quite basic. For example, the area near the bathtub was quite dirty and with lots of dust.

We hebben een prettig verblijf gehad bij Cardamon Hotel. Het personeel is ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam, zo vriendelijk zelfs dat het lastig is om kritisch te zijn. Het eten is van goede kwaliteit en smaakte beide avonden uitstekend. De ligging is prettig en we voelden ons welkom tijdens ons verblijf.

De wachttijden tijdens zowel het ontbijt als het diner waren erg lang. Daarnaast gebeurde het tijdens beide diners dat één van de vier gerechten pas werd geserveerd toen de rest van ons gezelschap al ongeveer een half uur uitgegeten was. Dat was jammer en leek geen incident te zijn. Verder werkt het hotel met wit linnengoed. Hoewel het beddengoed en de handdoeken schoon waren, zaten er zichtbare vlekken in die er blijkbaar niet meer uitgaan. Dat oogt minder fris. Als je kiest voor wit linnengoed, vinden wij dat het vervangen moet worden zodra het er optisch niet meer netjes uitziet. Al met al hebben we een fijn verblijf gehad en zouden we het hotel zeker aanbevelen. Met wat meer aandacht voor de wachttijden in het restaurant en het linnengoed zou de ervaring voor ons nog beter zijn geweest.

I stayed with my family of 5. We were looking for a relaxing beach break and that is what we experienced at Cardamon Hotel. The staff is very attentive and welcoming. The rooms are clean and spacious. The hotel itself faces the east with amazing sun rise views and sits right on the white sand beach. I have traveled to many beaches all over the world and this is one of the most relaxing spots I have stayed in. The water and beach is so clean! We were grateful to have this as a slow and relax sing stop in between our long road trips with the kids. My 8 year old daughter asked to stay longer!

Un très bel endroit! J’ai apprécié qu’il y avait peu de chambres! Piscine incroyable et nourriture excellente (et variée). Et que dire du personnel, ils sont serviables et très gentils!!! Je recommande fortement!

Das Frühstück war eher durchschnittlich. Wir haben nach dem ersten Tag auswärts gegessen. Leider hat das Bad nach dem Duschen unangenehm aus dem Abfluss gerochen. Das Personal hat sich auf Nachfrage aber sofort darum gekümmert. Es wäre super, wenn es an der Strandbar auch Cocktails gegeben hätte. Dann hätte man abends auch länger verweilt.

Hotel met een fantastische ligging aan het prachtige strand van Nilavelli. Watersport faciliteiten vlakbij. Ongelooflijk vriendelijke staff ( handdoeken jongen , housekeeping en obers waren ongelooflijk) . ‘s avonds eten met de voetjes in het strandzand 🥰

We hadden een suite duplex voor 4 personen . Het zetelbed was echt aan de kleine kant voor een kind van 8 en 11. Airco units aan de buitenkant van de kamers maken veel lawaai.

Necesita alguna reforma. Te alquilan una habitación con jacuzzi y es una bañera que no se puede llenar porque el tapón está roto.

È un posto meraviglioso in riva al mare a Nilavelj. Non solo la spiaggia e la stanza vista mare sono davvero rilassanti ma ciò che fa la differenza è sicuramente lo staff: gentile, premuroso e sempre attento ai suoi ospiti. Prima di andare via ci hanno anche lasciato un piccolo souvenir da portare con noi. Ci ho lasciato un pezzo di cuore

Loved our stay at Cardamon. Beautiful property. The staff is lovely. The pool is great. The location is absolutely stunning. Do yourself a favour and book this stay.

We were on 2nd floor sea facing room the room was hot and the AC dint work well and neither did the fan work. That was the only downer for our stay.

We had an amazing stay at Cardamon Hotel in Nilaveli. The hotel is beautiful, peaceful, and very well maintained. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. A very special thank you to the entire staff for their kindness, professionalism, and outstanding hospitality. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with a smile. No brochures or posters about attractions or activities to do in the area. The staff seemed a little unconfident in sharing about the attractions and activities to do in the area.

The staff was the best, the hotel must be surviving because of the extremely polite and courteous staff. Each of them was exceptional.Every team member we encountered was attentive, helpful, and genuinely committed to ensuring a memorable experience. Their kindness, efficiency, and unwavering dedication made us feel welcome and valued throughout our stay. Outstanding service like this is rare and deserves the highest praise.

The hotel was not quite as good as advertised. Although the staff was commendable, the accommodations and overall comfort level left room for improvement.

Das Hotel liegt an einem wunderschönen Strand mit privaten Strandliegen. Das Personal ist äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir durften sogar unsere Wäsche waschen lassen, obwohl sie keine offizielle „Laundry“ mehr haben. Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl.

Aus dem Abfluss in der Dusche kam ein unangenehmer Geruch.. vlt. auch normal hier. Würden trotzdem einen Aufenthalt im Hotel weiterempfehlen.
