The place is in the jungle, inside the heritage protected forest, and a short drive from the entrance to the archaeological area of Palenque. The hotel has cabins that look like mayan bungalows, but inside they have all the comforts of the best hotel rooms. The forest around the hotel is full of huge trees, flowers, and even black monkeys. They have a great pool, restaurant and bar !!! We loved our stay at MayaBell
The wifi in our bungalow didnt work well, but the wifi inside the lobby and restaurant it was perfect.
Pros- • Beautiful jungle setting • Communal areas are well presented • A small resort
Cons- • We paid for a deluxe room, and it didn’t feel deluxe, in fact it felt basic • There was no TV • The pool was dirty and full of dead insects, leaves, etc. Also, a weird colour - not been cleaned for a LONG time! • They let the locals come and use the pool, even if they are not staying there. So, one day we went to the pool to find local family playing their music loudly, leaving their rubbish around, being loud in the pool, taking up all the tables. We complained and they quieted down. There was then tension between them and us, dirty looks etc, but these facilities should be reserved for staying guests only - ridiculous! And pretty poor in terms of security too. But as they are a resort with paying guests this should not be happening! • The staff are attentive because its all about the tips- they even put a suggested amount to tip on your bill! • We found one of the receptionists (Elisbeth) to be surly and we got the sense she was saying things about us in Spanish to her co-workers as they laughed while looking at us. We complained about her. • The resort’s one restaurant becomes tiresome after eating there for several days. The food is not good enough or varied enough for a resort. Very average food and overpriced. • The resort is in the middle of nowhere so apart for the ruins there is nothing else around • We chose this hotel because it advertised itself as being near the ruins-this is only partially true. Firstly, the entrance is close, but the ticket booth is not-it is 2km back down the road-which they don’t inform you off. So, you must walk to the ticket booth (around a 15-minute walk in the heat), buy your tickets and then get a collectivo (shared van with a return ticket included) to the temple (so it is not walkable from the hotel). Hence, it is not worth staying here if all you are doing is visiting the temple. • We stayed for a weekend and felt bored-the place felt soulless
It’s in the natural reserve, the access to Palenque Archaeological site is very easy. Even walking distance. The restaurant is nice, the cabins weee perfect and the personnel very nice. Highly recommended for bird watching and people who want to stay close to Palenque site.
Beautiful location, in the jungle close to Palenque ruins. Howler monkeys and toucans all around Good restaurant.
Some front desk employees, and waitresses were unfriendly.
One of best places ever! We had luxus department in middle of jungle. We enjoyed also the swimming pool a fantastic pizza in the restaurant.
Being so close to nature Swimming pool Attentive and thoughtful restaurant staff No hairdryer but was loaned one by reception
The accommodation was very dark, cramped and the toilet not separated from the bed really ( just half swing door). No English spoken by staff Expensive
Excellent !!
I loved being walking distance to the Palenque site. Taking a colectivo or taxi into town was easy when necessary. The restaurant at the hotel is beautiful and has good food, it's just a little pricey. The staff are friendly and helpful. The A/C in the bedroom worked well. It's extremely peaceful and beautiful, and the howler monkeys are a nice touch (but might not be for everyone).
There's no shop at the hotel and nothing nearby. It would be better to have a guest shop with snacks, bottled drinks, souvenirs. The pool a little rough looking.
The location in the jungle and close to Palenque ruins, toucans, macaws and howler monkeys just outside our door!! The pool is wonderful and the restaurant very good and so convenient!
Nothing
The food was excellent and we really enjoyed it. Prices were reasonable, the service was very friendly and attentive, and there was live music on Saturday evening, which was a great atmosphere. What we loved most was the location in the middle of the rainforest. We saw many animals right outside our door, including howler monkeys and even a hummingbird. 🌿🐒✨
Although the pyramids are only about a 10-minute walk away, you unfortunately cannot access the entrance directly on foot. Tickets cannot be purchased there — they are only sold at the official ticket office (Taquilla Venta de Boletos Z. A. Palenque), which means you have to travel there first and then return by colectivo. Unfortunately, the rooms were extremely humid. While they are nicely designed, the moisture made our stay a bit uncomfortable. Once it rained, our clothes did not dry for two days. We are not entirely sure, but there also seemed to be a bit of mold on the blinds. The pool was nice overall, but it is quite old and did not seem very well maintained.
Everything!! The location is perfect for visiting Palenque ruins, we could walk there. Loved the pool area and grounds being able to see monkeys, toucans and macaws. The restaurant served delicious meals..
Nothing
Great place, very close to the archeological site. You can feel connection with the nature there.
Staff is not able to speak English, or not willing? Hard to say, but definitely disappointed not to be able to talk to anyone there.
When we arrived early evening there was a nice welcome and speedy check in. The receptionist made an effort to translate into english about how to get tickets if we wanted to go to Palenque ruins the next day, which we really appreciated. There was reliable hot water. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace and saw some birds and the agouti. The grounds were very nice with a big pool. The restaurant and public spaces were well decorated. We ate in the restaurant all 3 nights as it is not easy to get to anywhere else without transport. The food was decent and not overpriced. All staff we met were very friendly and helpful. We have very little spanish but they tried their best and we could see that they work hard.
The bathroom was small with little space to put things and nowhere to hang even a towel. Although there was a mosquito screen on the window there were gaps around it and also under the bedroom door. We had a lot of ants in the room. We understand that we are in a natural setting so should expect some bugs but this was too many. The bed was small and hard with no headboard. There was no comfort in the room. Although we made sure to get a room with AC it was so noisy that we had to turn it off.
Actually, everything was fine.
The outdoor area seemed somewhat forlorn to me; the pool and surroundings couldn't really be used.
We had a luxurious hide away close to the pool, not a regular cabana, and it was great and quiet. We walked to the Temple-zone which is a great walk to a marvelous historical site. Don’t forget to get your tickets upfront!
Nice cabañas, it’s clean, comfy and rustic. You can hear the monkeys at night. All employees were so nice and helpful. Great point was the restaurant opening early and closing at 23:00, life saving when you come back late from a tour. It was great value for money.
Maybe what was a bit uncomfortable was that the bathroom had no real door.
lit double trop petit
The location is perfect for visiting the ruins, and it’s easy to find. Hearing the howler monkeys throughout the day was truly special. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay didn’t live up to the setting.
Cons: The room was damp, the shower ran out of hot water quickly, and without a curtain or barrier the water flooded the entire bathroom floor. The photos online make the room appear much larger and more elegant than it actually is. The pool is run down. Restaurant service was consistently slow, with staff forgetting our orders and food taking a long time to arrive. The WiFi was down for our entire stay, and because the hotel’s card machines rely on WiFi, payment wasn’t possible without trying multiple alternative methods. This turned into a stressful and time‑consuming process. Although the hotel did waive the additional fees caused by the online payment platform’s high conversion charges, the overall hassle overshadowed my birthday and made the stay feel unnecessarily difficult. For the price, it wasn’t worth it, and I would not stay again.
Absolutely superb stay in the national park. Monkeys roaring all the time! Super clean, super nice room. Staff was very helpful. Really good restaurant.
During my stay wifi was broken, on the other hand, i had 3 days of digital detoxication in the jungle
Me encantó
The staff were excellent (esp. Gracie). Food is good. Location is beautiful--close to the archaeological zone and surrounded by wildlife. Excellent guide on site you can schedule tours with (Carlos).
The window screens were broken so bugs could get in if you want to leave the windows open. The mattresses were hard. Our sheets were clean but had pretty noticeable stains.
The location
The best location by arqueológic site and the best hotel in this area. Jungle around, Eco vibes and very good restaurant. 100% recommended
Nothing
Niente
The place is beautiful, just in the middle of the jungle. Very close to the Palenque site. We could walk there!
The only remark is that there were not reading lights, so in the evening was not great
Tolle Lage direkt am Park. Gutes Restaurant vorhanden.
The grounds are beautiful. Tall trees, unique plants. The restaurant fantastic.
No TV in room. Decor of rooms minimal, couldn't tell if it was supposed to be like unfinished concrete floors and walls but it looked moldy and was damp. Bed has hard mattress and pillows were so puffed you could rest the head right.
Hôtel le plus proche du site Palenque. Architecture des chambres Parking
Rien
Accueil agréable, bon restaurant, belle piscine, superbe localisation.
bonne prestation , guide franco phone , piscine correcte
rien
No había televisor
Beautiful setting in the jungle near the ruins. Very peaceful with a great pool to relax. Not close to Palenque town but there are lots of collectivos going past during the day.
You need to order tea and coffee in the restaurant and only a small amount of bottled water provided in the rooms.
Location near ruins
The location in the middle of the jungle is awesome
The rooms are really old. The hotel definitely needs some renovation. Also the location was not just quite near the park - you have to return to the ticket booth to take your tickets and pick up the shared taxi to the ruins. Don’t really know how the people managed to walk to the park as in some reviews - it’s almost impossible to do - you have to possess your tickets already and the walk is around 2 km
