The property is stunning, and a great location. It’s very clean. The friendly staff was amazing, they made the experience great. We felt very welcomed and very well taken care of.

I did not know that I could not park at the hotel. The person that answered the phone could not explain that there are car parking lots and a shuttle system. The hotel did not give me any instructions on where to park. The shuttle operator was very unfriendly and would not allow more than one bag per person, so we walked half a mile. The hotel is not air conditioned. It was hot! The hotel lost my dinner reservation. We were able to eat at the hotel restaurant. The location of the restaurant is very picturesque; however, the person that brought our dinner dropped it on the table, splattering the dinner on me, and then laughed. The hotel did not charge us for the entree. Promised to dry clean my clothing, but did not.

It has the best location in the town.

The service is okay. They charge extra service fee to bring over some water. It is definitely overpriced but the hotel is probably the best and only decent choice in the little town.

Housekeeper Claudia – the most proactive, friendly and helpful housekeeper we have ever encountered. A huge credit to the hotel. 4. Comfortable king size bed with added mattress topper.

1. The heavy flannel-like bed linens – even the pillowcase – and thick duvet in a high floor room with no air-conditioning and a small, almost useless, fan during very high outside ambient temperatures. Can’t open doors and windows for air due to bugs and noise. Very uncomfortable at night and almost no sleep as a result. Much stronger fan and lighter bedsheets needed in hot weather 2. Awkwardly positioned shower wand in the middle of the shower/bath combo rather than at the end, allowing water to reach the floors.

The location could hardly be better: literally on the town square, with a stunning view over the lake. We stayed for 2 nights in a 3rd floor junior suite #301 with a very large terrace, which was furnished with a dining set, umbrella and two padded loungers. It was a wonderful place to unwind and take in the view. The spacious, classically-furnished suite was comfortable, with 2 comfy armchairs, a desk and a particularly useful hall table — perfect for keeping sunglasses, keys and phones. The bathroom had large windows bringing in natural light, as well as a bidet, and a shower/tub combination that had an awkwardly placed shower-head in the middle of the wall rather than at the end, making it difficult to shower without splashing the floor. One small omission: there were no washcloths. The king bed was exceedingly comfortable, and I believe the staff had kindly added a plush mattress topper at my request. The pillows were also good. Unfortunately, the bedding was much too heavy for the weather. The sheets were flannel-like and the duvet and its cover were very thick. Hallstatt was extremely hot during our stay and, as there is no air-conditioning in the hotels, we sweltered at night — particularly on the 3rd floor. The hotel provided a small Dyson fan, but it simply wasn’t powerful enough to make much difference. We understand the restrictions on air-conditioning, but the hotel could easily improve the situation by providing substantially larger, stronger fans and lighter summer bedding. One person deserves special mention: Claudia, the housekeeper, was exceptional — hands down the best we have encountered in our travels. She had a wonderfully positive, “fix any problem” and “provide any service” attitude, and went well beyond expectations, even looking after us after her working hours. Claudia is an immense credit to the hotel and made our 2-night stay particularly enjoyable. Breakfast offered a good selection of both savoury and sweet options, although everything was buffet-style and nothing was made to order. Dinner was tasty. And if you’re inclined, you can simply slip into the lake from the ladder on the dock directly in front of the hotel. I did — and it was heavenly. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for its charming furnishings, spectacular lakefront setting and unbeatable location. With a few very inexpensive improvements — namely stronger fans and lighter bedding in hot weather — management could make an appealing hotel considerably more comfortable.

Offensichtlicher hoteldirektor hatte so einen indischen dialekt im englisch dass man ihn kaum verstand. So wie ich es einschätze auch keine bemühungen den unverständlichen dialekt zu verbessern. Hotelrestaurant serviert so dermassen kleine portionen auf überdimensionierten tellern dass wenn man auf nachfrage nachschlag möchte weil es einfach nicht genug ist, die zweite mini portion auch noch doppelt zahlen muss. Ziemliche frechheit diese portionen!

The view from our balcony was absolutely lovely. We would book that room again! The location was also fantastic. Right by the town square with easy walking around the town and lake access. About a 10-15 minute walk to the parking garage outside of town.

There was a heat wave and so it was VERY hot. They provided a small floor fan which didn't do much at all as far as move air around. A larger fan or ceiling fan would have made things much more comfortable. It made sleeping uncomfortable. So I'm not sure if it was just the heat or if the bed wasn't super comfortable.

Our stay in Hallstatt was absolutely unforgettable. The views here are truly breathtaking and unlike anything else in the world, with the dramatic mountains meeting the serene lake. While the standard check-in time wasn't until 3:00 PM, we found the perfect strategy to enjoy this popular destination. I highly recommend arriving later in the afternoon or early evening. Once the last ferries leave and the heavy crowds of day-trippers depart, the town completely transforms. Walking through the quiet, winding streets at evening feels like you have the entire fairytale village all to yourself. It is peaceful, romantic, and the absolute best way to experience Hallstatt's true charm. If you want to avoid the crowds and see the town at its best, plan for a later arrival and enjoy the evening calm!

After paying for the hotel, I messaged them to specify exactly when I would arrive. They confirmed the booking and said they were expecting me. When I arrived, however, I found the door locked and the place deserted. I spent three hours trying to get in touch with someone. People from other hotels tried to help me, but I was left waiting helplessly outside the hotel I had already paid for. They are incompetent and terrible people.

La literie et la chambre globalement qui ne correspond pas au prix de 400 euros la nuit. Le petit déjeuner est moyen avec un choix basique avec néanmoins quelques bons produits. La vue avec centre d’intérêt est déplorable.

We had a wonderful stay at Seehotel Grüner Baum in Hallstatt with our family in July 2026. The location was absolutely beautiful, right by Lake Hallstatt, with breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Our room was comfortable and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay, making our family feel very comfortable as well as the restaurant staff. It was the perfect place to relax, enjoy the beauty of Austria, and spend quality time together as a family.

DONT GO THERE TO EAT. I write it in english, so nothing gets lost in translation. The restaurant was recommended to me second hand. So I gave it a try, mainly for the location next to the lake. From the 70 Euro I paid for 2 PAX it was worth 20 Euros for food and drinks, the 50 for the view. We had Schlutzkrapfen and Kasnocken. Nothing complicated, but they absolutly made me regret it. They arrived 30 seconds after we received the couvert. For both we waited about 20 minutes or so - so 0 stars for the service. Especially for not exusing them for their mistake. The food was not warm. Both were quite dry. I know butter is expensive these days, but wtf - nothing at all. We could argue about some grated parmesan, but dont need to. So 1 star for the kitchen team in serving convinience products warmed up for several times already. 0 stars for the management, to let this happen. Good for them, they did not ask if everything was good. Probably they know, what they do.

The Seehotel Gruener Baum is the best-located hotel in Hallstatt, right beside the Evangelical Church, which is supposed to be the center of the town. It actually sits in front of the small town's main square - how can you get better situated than that? We were given the room on the 4th floor. The problem was - the elevator only worked till the 3rd. So we had to hoist the luggage up and down to the 4th personally. The other major inconvenience was that cars were not allowed into the town - they could only stay at the upper highway levels. So you had to ask for a hotel van to come up and bring your luggage down - and that took a lot of time. Especially since no one was answering from the hotel when we tried to call. Then the same problem when leaving the hotel - the hotel had to get a taxi for you - at your expense - to bring you and your luggage up to the upper highway levels. We were on a tight time schedule - so that caused a major problem for us. The room was large and high ceilinged - but since it was on the top floor, one wall was very heavily angled and we kept hitting our heads on the ceiling till we figured out to look before getting up from the chair or the bed. There was no ac- they had a Dyson blameless fan - but that worked well enough to combat the summer heat. Breakfast was very good.

We skipped breakfast at the property but appreciated the staff’s thoughtful gesture of wrapping food to go, especially since we had to leave early to catch our train back to Vienna. The receptionist was truly caring and went out of their way to accommodate us. The location couldn’t be better — right in the lively heart of the main street. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and loved the place.

The location and accommodation were exactly what I was hoping for, and I was pleased to find them as expected.

Before being seated, we clearly informed the staff that if a table by the seaside became available, we would like to move there. Despite this, Restaurant Manager Robert refused our request simply because we had already placed our order. His attitude was extremely rude, aggressive, and unprofessional. He told us in a harsh tone that we either had to pay for the food or leave the restaurant immediately. We felt unwelcome and were treated with complete disrespect. As a result, we had to pay €34.70 for a meal that we never even ate. This experience completely ruined our visit. We cannot recommend this restaurant and strongly advise others to consider alternative places where guests are treated with respect.

Úžasný hotel přímo u jezera hned vedle ikonického kostela v Hallstattu. Jedná se o velmi starou historickou budovu což se nám velmi líbilo. Měli jsme pokoj z boku budovy a viděli jsme částečně i na hory. Personál je velmi milý. Ano ceny jsou velmi vysoké ale vzhledem k lokalitě je to pochopitelné. Nejvíce jsme ocenili to, že jsme ráno byli v Hallstattu sami a mohli si město projít téměř bez lidí. Snídaně skvělé. Snídani si můžete vychutnat s výhledem na jezero buď uvnitř v restauraci nebo na terase.

Zimmertemperatur war zu hoch, und niht einstellbar.

Hatte ein Einzelzimmer für eine Nacht gebucht mit Blick auf eine Sehenswürdigkeit. Habe ein Upgrade zu einem Doppelzimmer mit Balkon mit Seeblick bekommen. Hab mich mega gefreut, ein traumhafter Ausblick! Vermutlich weil am Hotel an der Aussenmauer Renovierungsarbeiten durchgeführt wurden. Das Frühstück war auch sensationell!

Substancja bardzo stara, przydałoby się odnawienie, ogrzewanie w zimie z niesamowitą intensywnością można tylko włączyć lub wyłączyć, konieczne było otwarcie okna przy mrozie na całą noc pokoiki ciasne , balkoniki malutkie. W łazience parawan nad wanną zbyt mały.

Nice old style property in good location in the heart of town - nice views from rooms of lake or market square. Had tea and coffee making in room which is good for Europe.

Beds were a bit too soft for my liking and no milk with the coffee making in room (but there is a fridge). It’s pretty expensive for what it is - food in restaurant is ok - probably the best in town but there’s nothing much in town - definitely not a foodie place.

Location to the shops.

We were put in room 104. It was hot enough that we had to keep the windows open. Starting between 3 and 4 a.m. the trash services began opening the doors to the bins and dragging the carts up the cobblestone street. Then they started with the metal carts. The noise made it impossible to sleep. This went on for almost 2 hours. We were ready to leave, but were moved to 210 for the 2nd night and that room faced the square. The noise there subsided by 11 p.m. and we were able to sleep. The only restitution that could make it better is if I were refunded 1 nights stay. Other than that, I would not recommend the hotel to any of my friends or travelers. The picture attached shows the cabinets where the bins and carts were located. This is just outside the window of 104.

船を降りてすぐ側のホテルなので、石畳でもスーツケースの持ち運びに困ることがなかったです。朝食会場や夕食は素敵な湖を眺めることができます。

部屋の眺めや設備（バスタブがない）洗面設備が狭いが、割高だと感じました。

レイクビューだったのですが、朝昼はもちろん、深夜の月明かりのビューも絶景で本当に素敵でした。物語の中に入り込んだかのような、素晴らしい景色で感動しました。

ベッドがレトロな感じですが、やはりここは綺麗な今風のものに変えた方が良さそうと思いました。 シーツや掛け布団も少し古さが気になってあまり寝れなかったです。 アメニティは用意がありますのでそこはよかったです。 またシャワーをすると水がはみ出してしまうくらい盾が短かったので入りにくかったです。

Wonderful property right by the ferry station and on the water. So many wonderful in room amenities as well. Hotel was safe for a solo female traveler. Breakfast was expansive and very good with stunning views of the lake. Rooms were very clean and a good size

Albergo centralissimo, con buona colazione. La camera è spaziosa e dotata di tutte le comodità, macchinetta del caffè, accappatoi, ciabattine, teli per la stagione balneare e copertine da esterni. Il letto era comodo, un po' morbido per i miei standard, ma questo è molto soggettivo. L'albergo ha anche un ristorante dove si mangia molto bene.

Non che non mi sia piaciuta, ma la colazione può essere migliorata.

The hospitality was great. The room was outstanding and the hotel is centrally located. We had a room with a balcony and it was very special. The sauna in the bathroom was lovely. The breakfast was delicious.

Una camera molto piccola con bagno piccolo e con vista su un tetto.Con la stessa tipologia di camera i miei amici hanno avuto soluzioni migliori vista lago. Peccato. Sicuramente vanno rivisti i prezzi e le varie tipologie delle camere. Oppure con over booking ci hanno dato un ripostiglio 😅
