Nous avons passé 3 nuits super au rock Shade Chalet le personnel était aux petits soins. On se sent complètement dans une bulle de détente et cette sensation d’être dans une cabane au milieu de la nature est juste génial! Nous y retournerons avec grand plaisir

A very peaceful place with friendly and welcoming staff. Great value for money. The food was good, and we especially liked the vegetarian dishes.

The location is a little off the beaten track, so it’s a good idea to bring some water and other essentials with you. However, drinks and everything you might need are also available at the accommodation.

Es war super. Der Eigentümer war unfassbar nett und zuvorkommend, wie alle Mitarbeiter dort. Er hat uns mit allem geholfen, sprich Airport Transfer und Safari und es hat alles genau gepasst und das auch noch zu einem guten Preis. Das Essen war auch sehr lecker und man hat gut einen Einblick in die Einheimische Küche bekommen. Die Zimmer waren groß, sauber, gemütlich und das Outdoor Badezimmer hatte etwas an sich. Ansonsten war das Hotel super schön, alles war gepflegt und die Aussicht war auch toll. Man konnte super am Pool entspannen und sich den ein oder anderen frisch gemachten Saft schmecken lassen. Insgesamt ein toller Aufenthalt.

Das einzige was vielleicht ein bisschen negativ ist, ist das es nicht relativ nah am Zentrum ist, aber man kommt mit tuk tuks überall sehr gut hin. Für leute die Ruhe haben wollen ist es jedoch perfekt.

Splendida location immersa nella natura! Accoglienza super, personale estremamente gentile e simpatico, tutti sempre pronti a non farci mancare nulla e rispondere alle nostre esigenze. Davvero consigliato, molto comodo per poi fare i Safari degli Elefanti. Anche il ristorante niente da dire, abbiamo fatto due ottime colazioni (all’inglese o tipica srilankese) e una cena davvero squisita. Infine piscina top, relax assicurato.

It was amazing! The owner & the staff are so friendly and they help you with everything. The food in the restaurant is very good because the chef is very experienced. He can make a lot of different things. The rooms are clean and the outside bathroom is very lovely. Its not in the center of sigiriya but thats not necessary. From there you can easy go to lions rock or safari. The accommodation has a very clean pool and thr nature is amazing. Thank you guys the great stay!

La struttura é davvero graziosa. Semplicissima, dall’atmosfera familiare. Dalla nostra stanza vedevamo Pidurangala e Lyon Rock. Ci si sveglia con i rumori della natura e nel giardino ci sono alberi di frutta. I ragazzi sono davvero gentili e il titolare molto disponibile. Il bagno all’aperto, all’inizio, mi preoccupava. Invece é stata anche quella un’esperienza, che sicuramente ripeterei. Abbiamo anche mangiato bene! É a ca 15 minuti in tuk tuk da Sigiriya Rock ma praticamente tutte le strutture sono concentrate in quella zona (e il tragitto non pesa assolutamente).

Wir waren als vierköpfige Familie hier und hatten das Superior Familienzimmer. Das Zimmer an sich ist ein Haus auf Stelzen, was ziemlich cool war. Das Zimmer war sehr schön und durch den Baumhaus Charakter etwas besonderes. Das Außen Bad war auch ziemlich abgefahren. Vor Ort wird Essen angeboten, was auch wirklich praktisch ist, da in der Nähe keine weiteren Restaurants oder Ähnliches zu finden sind. Das Essen war auch sehr lecker. Der Besitzer und die ganzen Angestellten waren sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Wir konnten uns auch die Mangoplantage nebenan anschauen. Mit der Organisation des Tuktuks und möglichen Ausflügen wurde immer prima geholfen.

Es war zu der Zeit, in der wir dort waren, ziemlich windig und dadurch hat das Dach geklappert.

Die Unterkunft hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Alles war sehr angenehm und ich habe mich von Anfang an wohl und willkommen gefühlt. Das Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Man merkt, dass hier wirklich Wert darauf gelegt wird, dass sich die Gäste wohlfühlen und eine schöne Zeit haben. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich den Besitzer. Er ist mehr als freundlich, unglaublich hilfsbereit und rund um die Uhr für seine Gäste da. Er macht wirklich alles möglich und steht einem jederzeit mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. Vor allem ist er einfach ein ganz, ganz herzlicher Mensch, was den Aufenthalt noch besonderer gemacht hat. Eine absolute Empfehlung!

Wat een geweldig lieve mensen! We waren wat te vroeg om in te checken, maar we werden meteen erg vriendelijk verwelkomd. Door de wat meer afgelegen ligging hebben we elke avond bij de accommodatie gegeten, maar dit was absoluut geen straf. We hebben echt een super verblijf gehad hier, vooral door de super lieve medewerkers.

Zoals op veel plekken hier hapert de wifi af en toe wat.

Das Hotel liegt etwas abgelegener was aber nicht schlimm war. Man konnte Ruhe genieße und das einzige was man gehört hat, waren Vögle und Pfauen. Die Zimmer waren sehr groß und sauber. Die Mitarbeiter sowie der Besitzer waren sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Es fehlte uns bei unserem Aufenthalt nichts. Wir haben viele Tipps bekommen und die Safari direkt über das Hotel organisiert bekommen. Ebenso einen Transfer nach Ella konnte uns der Besitzer besorgen, welcher Preislich sehr gut war. Das Frühstück und das Abendessen waren auch sehr lecker. Insgesamt können wir nichts schlechtes sagen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Nous avons passé deux nuits exceptionnelles dans ce magnifique chalet. Tout était parfait : les équipes sont adorables et aux petits soins, les chambres sont très bien entretenues, chaleureuses et pleines de charme, avec une vue magnifique sur la nature. L’endroit est d’un calme absolu, idéal pour se déconnecter et se reposer. Nous avons également beaucoup apprécié la qualité de la nourriture, qui était délicieuse. Un grand merci également à l’équipe pour son aide précieuse dans l’organisation de notre séjour : ils nous ont notamment aidés à trouver un chauffeur pour rejoindre notre prochaine destination, Kandy, et ont également organisé pour nous un chauffeur pour notre safari. Si vous hésitez encore à réserver, n’hésitez surtout pas : c’est une véritable pépite que je recommande à 100% ✨

A really unique, beautiful property that really leaves an impression. Very kind and engaged staff, they made us feel so welcome and took time to show us their amazing hotel and gardens. Beautiful views and quiet area. Pool is also brilliant.

L’endroit est idyllique et donne sur une jolie vue du lions rock depuis la piscine. Les chambres sont propres et très spacieuses. Le personnel est adorable et offre le soir des repas d’une grande qualité pour un coup plus qu’honnête. Le plus reste évidemment la piscine à débordement qui donne sur le jardin.

Nourriture excessivement chère pour la quantité (x2 vs. dehors), temps d’attente d’une heure. Personnel pas du tout formé de façon générale. En particulier, l’un d’entre eux a essayé de rentrer dans notre chambre sans toquer alors qu’il savait que nous y étions. C’est inadmissible.

Todo! Es un lugar muy especial, muy tranquilo, en medio de la naturaleza. Lasantha y su equipo hacen todo lo posible para que te sientes a gusto y conocen muy bien la zona. Las camas son cómodas Los plus: la piscina y el baño abierto… sin duda nuestro mejor alojamiento en Sri Lanka!

Der Pool ist gut nutzbar. Die angesprochenen Mängel wurden behoben.

Die Mitarbeiter und der Manager haben leider keinen Blick für die Mängel. Das Baumhaus ist leider sehr laut und windanfällig, weil die Äste etc. Immer auf dem Blechdach kratzen. Es gibt zahlreiche Mängel in der Wohnung von vorstehenden Nägeln auf dem Fußboden über lockere Badarmaturen und Moskitonetze mit zahlreichen Löchern. Leider wird das Potential der Unterkunft daher nicht genutzt.

Everything was perfect. The staff was very nice. The views are breathtaking. A large portion of the food is organic and homegrown. For example we had a papaya curry and papaya juice from a tree directly in front of the restaurant.

Prachtige locatie met mooi zwembad in het midden van de natuur. Uitzicht op Lion Rock. Personeel was ongelooflijk vriendelijk, haalde ijsjes voor ons op en maakte heerlijk eten. Kookcursus kon hier ook gedaan worden, was leuk om mee te maken. Grote kamers met grote badkamers.

Het waait soms aardig hard in de badkamer, maar daardoor was alle kleding wel lekker snel droog. 😄

Wij sliepen in de familie chalet/boomhut, wat een prachtplek!! Super rustig ook, heerlijk zwembad en mooie omgeving. Lekker eten, allemaal heel makkelijk te regelen bij de fantastische eigenaar, Lasante! Ook uitstapjes en vervoer, hij deed zijn uiterste best en zorgde voor super ervaringen. Een aanrader, prijs kwaliteit 1 van de beste die we gehad hebben!

Zeer rustig gelegen in een prachtige omgeving. Supersympathiek personeel. Leuk zwembad.

Zeer vriendelijk personeel, goede en schone kamers.

Het ligt op ca. 15 min met de tuktuk vanaf sigiriya. Dit was van te voren bekend.

Het terrein was mooi groen en het zwembad fijn om in af te koelen en voor de kids om lekker te spelen. Het personeel was vriendelijk en stond altijd klaar als je iets nodig had. Wij waren met z’n vieren, twee volwassenen en 2 kids. Om van hieruit Lion Rock en een safari in Minneriya te doen. Daarvoor was het een goeie basis. We werden een paar dagen tevoren geïnformeerd dat de airco in de door ons geboekte familiekamer defect was. We kregen de optie te annuleren of naar een andere kamer te verplaatsen. We besloten de andere kamer te nemen, we ontvingen ter compensatie gratis ontbijt voor de twee overnachtingen. Dus keurig opgelost. Ontbijt was prima, eitjes zoals je het bereid wil, toast, vers fruit en sap of Singalees als je wilt. We hebben ook een avond bij het hotel gegeten. Knap dat ze met twee man personeel waarvan één de bediening en één de keuken deed zoveel verschillende gerechten konden bereiden. Wij hadden twee keer de curry en kinderen een pasta en een kip met aardappelpuree en groenten. Het was prima. De manager kwam ons de laatste dag nog even gedag zeggen. En zijn excuses nogmaals maken over de airco en andere kamer.

De kamers en voorzieningen waren vrij basic. Weinig sfeer of aankleding. Er hingen alleen twee mega felle lampen aan het plafond, best onhandig in een familie kamer als de kids eerder op bed gaan. Ook de open badkamer was basic en er liepen vrij veel mieren rond.

Nous avons adoré cet établissement avec la salle de bain extérieure très agréable. Ici pas de bruits de voitures mais ceux des paons et des écureuils qui s’amusent dans le jardin. C’était ressourçant!

Le personnel est adorable mais le propriétaire n’était pas sur place ce qui a compliqué un peu les échanges.

Staff, pool, drinks and food

Perfect place to unwind after arriving in Sri Lanka! I spent two days here to recover from travelling and do the sunrise + sunset hikes. My room was upgraded for free by the lovely staff members and had everything you need incl. private terrace and cool outdoors bathrooms. The pool and its facilities are perfect after a fun hike and the restaurant offers different meals throughout the day. Just be aware alcohol can not be purchased there, so it's BYOB.

Do note that the location is further away from all of Sigiriya's activities so what you save on accommodation you'll spend on tuktuks (tbh, the price-quality here is super good though). Also if the driver tries to take you to the ''free'' herbal garden tour, deny deny deny! (tour guide scratching his butt and them making you drink ''free'' tea that'll give you an upset everything)

Les cabanes sont rustiques, mais c’est ce qui fait tout leur charme. Et pour le prix c’est compliqué de se plaindre

We stayed at Rock Shade Chalet for 3 nights and had a wonderful experience. The service was amazing, the staff were very friendly and attentive, and the pool was fantastic. The chalet was comfortable and a great place to relax. Highly recommended!

The place was really lovely, in a beautiful location and the staff were even lovelier! We was worried about bugs when we got there but we had no issues at all, the mosquito net did a great job. We did have a cheeky squirrel who kept playing with the toilet roll haha but we didn't mind! The pool was a lovely touch after a long hike up Lion rock! We had a really lovely staff here. We did a cooking class which was really fun and the food was always good!

The place is a little out the way but it was expected and we had trips booked already so this wasn't an issue for us. The wifi wasn't that great!

The staff were incredible!! Losanta and his team couldn’t do enough to help us and made our stay extra special. The rooms were all perfect with nice bathrooms and AC. Pool was lovely to relax in and we loved playing cricket with the team! They helped organise taxis and the safari, and even ran a cooking course for us in the hotel which was super fun. We had the best time at Rock Shade and were sad to leave.

Eine wundervolle Unterkunft, eine unserer liebsten in Sri Lanka. Extrem freundliche und hilfsbereite Mitarbeiter, wir durften sogar an einem Abend zu zweit einen Kochkurs vor Ort machen der viel Spaß gemacht hat. Das Superior Zimmer hatte zwei Doppelbetten und war absolut traumhaft mit Ausblick bis zum Lions Rock. Alles sehr sauber. Wir würden am liebsten wiederkommen.

was one of the best or the best accomodation we had during our trip in Sri Lanka. Perfect location to visit sites such as Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Hurlu eco park with elephants. The location of the bungalow is quite pictoresque. But most importantly hospitality was outstanding! The owner/manager is a very generous and warm hearted guy and he was flexible check out time. He also showed and told us about local plants and fruits with tasting of course. The place also has a kitchen and you could have a great chance to try delicious sri lankan meals. If you brave enough you could try to hit the cricket ball! Highly recommended! 10/10

All of the staff are so friendly and helpful. The manager especially is so responsive via WhatsApp and helped us with anything we asked. This was a very unique stay for us. We loved the tranquility, the wooden doors, the outdoor bathroom, the fly nets around the bed, and the pool is a huge bonus. The location is 15/20 minutes out of Sigiriya town but PickMe app works for taxis (uber doesn’t).

We loved the nature and the spacious surroundings. The pool was a lovely way to cool down on hot days, and towels were provided. The room was nice, with a comfortable bed. You do need the mosquito net, as there are some bugs, which isn’t surprising given the cracks and open spaces they can get through. The outdoor bathroom was really nice, with a warm shower. The manager was extremely helpful and friendly, and the food in the restaurant was good.

We had a few hours of rain while we were there, and the inside of the room got wet. As mentioned, there are cracks in the wooden walls, so water can come through. However, the staff dried everything for us and provided us with everything we needed. When going to the outdoor bathroom at night, you’ll see plenty of insects and frogs, but that’s part of staying so close to nature, so we didn’t see it as a real negative.

Le fait de dormir dans une cabane dans les arbres est toujours marrant. Le jardin est un véritable verger, avec ses nombreux fruits. Et également un zoo avec ses nombreux animaux. La possibilité de manger de bons plats dans un endroit qui est assez isolé. Mais surtout, la gentillesse de l'équipe qui vaut, à elle seule, d'aller dans cet hôtel. Lasantha a été absolument adorable : il nous a aidé à organiser nos journées en réservant des véhicules et des safaris, il a discuté avec nous, joué avec les enfants et m'a même accompagnée à la pharmacie. Il fait tout pour que le séjour soit parfait et il réussit, c'était parfait !

If you are looking for a place where to disconnect and be treated in a royal way, this is your place! Lasantha is super kind and super helpful to arrange transportation and excursions. The rest of the staff is also super nice! Food is delicious and the chalets are amazing! Really felt connected to nature and surrounded by a dreamy calm. I wish I could have stayed longer!

Un séjour absolument génial au Rock Shade Chalet Sigiriya ! Nous y avons passé 2 jours incroyables, en plein cœur de la jungle, entourés d’animaux – une expérience dépaysante et magique. Le personnel est tout simplement adorable, toujours aux petits soins et d’une grande gentillesse. Nous avons également eu la chance d’être surclassés avec mon compagnon, une très belle attention qui a rendu notre séjour encore plus spécial. La vue sur le Lion Rock est magnifique et ajoute vraiment un charme unique à cet endroit. Une expérience inoubliable – nous reviendrons sans hésitation ! 🌿✨

le propriétaire de l'établissement est tout bonnement adorable !! toujours des petites attentions lors des repas, très ouvert à la discussion, volontaire pour nous faire découvrir son mode de vie et curieux du notre... au top ! la cuisine est également très bonne et tout est fait maison, un régal ! les logements sont originaux, perchés sur leurs pilotis, correctement équipés et l'ambiance nature est bien présente et très agréable.

il manque quelques petites choses pratiques au quotidien : de quoi étendre correctement les serviettes de toilette de 4 personnes, une prise électrique à proximité de chaque lit (un seul sur les deux lits de notre logement). mais c'est vraiment à la marge et n'engage pas le plaisir du temps passé dans ce lieu.

Caché non loin de la jungle, ce havre de paix était parfait pour un séjour seuls au monde et en pleine nature. Le chalet est incroyable avec une double terrasse en hauteur qui offre une vue magnifique sur le Lion's Rock au loin. Les lits sont confortables et la salle de bains en extérieure est une expérience à elle seule. Le gérant est une des meilleures rencontre de notre séjour, il nous a fait un petit tour spontané du beau jardin fruitier de l'hotel et nous a fait gouter un tas de fruits dont nous ne connaissions même pas l'existence, il nous a proposé de nous apporter à manger sur notre terrasse privative, chaleureux et ultra serviable, son équipe est également à son image. Nous avons aussi pu voir un tas d'animaux différents, entourés par les paons, par Peter le varan qui rôde dans le coin, les toucans, chauves souris et autres oiseaux. La piscine au milieu du domaine est particulièrement agréable après une belle promenade au Pidurangala Rock au levé du soleil. Je recommande vivement, une expérience hors du temps.

Henkilökunta oli todella ystävällinen ja avulias. Hotellin alueella oli paljon söpöjä eläimiä. Puumaja ja uima-allas olivat viihtyisiä. Ruuat olivat todella maukkaita.

Tout!! C’était le paradis sur terre! L’endroit est sublime, propre, beaucoup de faune et végétation. Mais surtout… Le personnel est incroyable. Le Monsieur de la réception est EXCEPTIONNEL, très attentionné, souriant, il nous a réellement aidé à rendre notre séjour parfait. Le cuisiner aussi, les repas étaient juste exceptionnels, c’est digne d’un grand restaurant!! C’était notre meilleur hébergement de tout le Sri-Lanka, nous reviendrons c’est sur! Merci milles fois pour tout, nous oublierons jamais notre séjour à Rock Shade!

Kein Grund für Punktabzug, aber ggf relevant für manche: man ist abseits, man braucht also für alles ein Tuktuk, welches etwa 2500LKR für hin und zurück mit Warten des Fahrers kostet. Die Türen in der Unterkunft gehen sehr schwer auf und zu und sind auch laut. Das Bad ist draußen, man wird also von Geckos, Fröschen, etc gerne mal besucht.

The food was À la carte and pretty good. Away from noice of the city, frenly staff, open grounds. I was given a quite a big family room up on stilts and had to climb a stair case through a Koon tree. My kids loved it and the environment was clean in a middle of a small Mango, Guava and lime plantation among other plants. It is quite clos to Sigiriya (Not walking distance but close if you are traveling by your own vehical) I did not join but there are cooking lessons for foreigners as well as local if you like to get your hands dirty and eat your own cooking, but its all about local cuisine for a fare price.

We verbleven 3 nachten in Rock Shade chalet en hebben er enorm van genoten van de rust en natuur op deze locatie! De accommodatie is perfect inorde. De kamers zijn ruim en netjes. Ook het zwembad en de tuin zijn piekfijn verzorgd. Het eten is er heerlijk. Het personeel is super vriendelijk! We hebben goed met hen gelachen en ze zijn zeer behulpzaam. Zeker aan te raden!

One of the best places we have ever stayed. Lasantha, the manager was exceptionally helpful in finding a driver at the last minute. Beautiful friendly staff. Accommodation was one of a kind.....tree house experience, open air bathroom and viewing platform to Lion rock. As we were leaving, the hosts presented my husband with a birthday cake and sing song for his 60th birthday.....a beautiful touch. Thank you so much!

A little further away from town centre than expected. Thought we could walk....not so. No bother though .....driver took us everywhere.

Overall enjoyed our stay here, staff was very friendly and hospitable special thanks to Mr Lasantha who helped in arranging fun activities as well. We were also given a free upgrade to a family chalet.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Rock Chalet and would recommend it 100%! From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and genuine. The staff took great care of us throughout our stay and made us feel truly at home. A special mention to Lashanta, who went above and beyond, he was incredibly kind and even took the time to accompany us to the starting point of a hike, which we really appreciated. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and beautifully maintained. The pool is simply incredible, perfect for relaxing while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The whole hotel has a very calm and serene atmosphere, ideal for unwinding and recharging. The food was also delicious, with great quality and variety. Everything was absolutely perfect. Thank you again for such a wonderful experience, we would definitely come back!

We reizen 33 dagen door Sri Lanka en deze plek is tot nu toe onze favoriet. We genoten enorm van de vogels om ons heen. Er heerst zo’n heerlijke rust hier. Je hoort alleen de natuur. De bedden zijn fijn, de buiten douche een heerlijke ervaring en het eten fantastisch!! Het personeel is super vriendelijk en doen er alles aan het je naar de zin te maken. De uitstapjes waren goed geregeld.

Unser Gastgeber und das ganze Personal waren einfach super sympathisch und haben uns viele super Tipps gegeben. Das „Baumhaus“ war total gemütlich. Wir waren beim Lions Rock, haben Ayuveda gemacht und eine Safari. Und sind nie länger als 20min gefahren. Das Essen war sehr lecker und der Pool super. Absolute Empfehlung.

Super leuke omgeving en chalets. Zwembad is iets kleiner dan op de foto, maar zeker groot genoeg om een half dagje tot rust te komen. Zeer goede ontvangst en super behulpzame host. Eten kan ter plaatse, was zeker in orde. Open air badkamer is zeker een plus!

Je moet een tuk tuk of auto nemen om naar activiteiten of het centrum te gaan

Such a warm welcome and quiet surrounds

Unser Aufenthalt war einfach wunderschön. Das Hotel ist sehr naturbelassen und ruhig gelegen genau der perfekte Ort, um sich zu entspannen und rundum wohlzufühlen. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir das Personal: Alle waren unglaublich bemüht, herzlich und haben uns jederzeit das Gefühl gegeben, willkommen zu sein. Ein Highlight war der spontan gebuchte Kochkurs. Wir konnten ganz unkompliziert teilnehmen, haben viel gelacht und gleichzeitig viel über die srilankische Küche gelernt eine wirklich besondere Erfahrung! Auch das Essen im Hotel war hervorragend. Wir können es nur empfehlen, dort zu Abend zu essen es war jedes Mal sehr lecker. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen. Eine klare Weiterempfehlung! Vielen Dank für diese wunderschöne Zeit.

One of the best places I have stayed in SL Chalet is very spacious with all necessary amenities very clean and tidy. I love the fruit orchard and it’s a birds paradise Exceptional staff specially Lasantha would go above and beyond to ensure guest requests. I would definitely go there again.
