Kumbuk Tree House Yala Safari Place

Het is een unieke plek om te slapen vlakbij Yala National Park. De eigenaar een zeer vriendelijke en lieve man. We werden ontvangen met verse papayasap en de volgende ochtend met een heerlijk en zeer uitgebreid en royaal to go ontbijt.

This treehouse is one of a kind and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room and bathroom were very clean and the fan and mosquito net make for a comfortable sleep. The garden and rock path are stunning. The host is lovely and his nephew availabe on what’s app for anything you need.

It's a real house in a tree. I have been wanting to do this since my girl was little but never got a chance. This was wonderful. A must do.

This place is amazing!!! So so magical, surrounded by so much nature you have to stay here! The owners are so lovely, prepared an amazing breakfast in the morning and showed me some baby owls and bees in the garden. The treehouse is super clean and it's so peaceful. They give you a free bicycle to ride around the town as well which is great. Nothing bad to say.

The most gorgeous tree house stay to experience wildlife. We stayed here whilst doing a Yala national park safari and it was great, saw monkeys and lots of birds, also not far from shops and restaurants, and breakfast here was lovely.

We stayed here for a few nights while visiting the safari. The treehouse reminded me of my childhood, when my friends and I used to build treehouses together, it felt very nostalgic :) The territory is very pleasant and cozy. Everything has been built by the owners themselves, and the host is personally involved in building and crafting the tree structures, which makes the place feel very authentic. The breakfast was very filling, a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast with omelet and fresh fruits. They also kindly prepared a takeaway breakfast for our safari: a sandwich and water at 4:30am. There was hot water with good pressure. The area is very green and beautiful, with many birds around. Mosquitoes did not bother us and the Wi-Fi worked well. I definitely recommend this experience.

Wer ein kleines Dschungelabenteuer sucht, ist in Saman's selbstgebautem Baumhaus perfekt aufgehoben. Wir waren 4 Nächte im oberen Baumhaus, welches einfach aber sehr liebevoll ist, und konnten sogar ein Krokodil im Fluss und einen wunderschönen indischen Paradiesschnäpper bewundern. Saman hat uns für die Safaries das Frühstück um 04:30 im Korb mitgegeben.Wow. Der Garten ist der Knaller. Wunderschön.

Die wahrscheinlich beste Unterkunft unserer gesamten Sri Lanka Reise. Das Baumhaus ist wirklich außergewöhnlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und wurden herzlich empfangen

It’s was like a fairytale dream. The treehouse is beyond. It’s super clean and has an amazing view over the river. Also the bed is super comfortable. Last but not least: we had our best breakfast since we were in Sri Lanka. (Are here already 2weeks). We had a blast♥️

You can see many birds here. The beautiful scenery of lying in bed at dusk and early morning is fascinating. It's a very good experience!

Absolutely amazing accommodation - our favourite of our entire trip in Sri Lanka! The craftmanship required for the tree house is absolutely amazing, and it was so incredibly made. The gardens were beautiful and we enjoyed reading our books there during the day. A must do experience that you won't be able to find anywhere else. Hosts were very kind, letting us store our bags, organised the safari for us etc. Located a short 5 minute walk to a main road, where you can easily catch a 5 min tuk tuk into the main town of Tissamaharama. 11/10 would recommend!

Die Lautstärke der umliegenden Hotels die teilweise bis morgens um 4 Uhr laute Musik gespielt haben, was das Schlafen fast unmöglich gemacht hat.

Wunderschönes Baumhaus, sehr freundlicher Betreiber. Einzig die Verständigung ist etwas schwierig. Das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig! Das Baumhaus liegt direkt am Fluss, man hat quasi den Dschungel und seine Bewohner vor der Haustüre. Uns hat es sehr gefallen!

The staff super helpful. He showed us owls sleeping in the garden! And gave us advice where to go in the area. The house and garden are like a dream. Breakfast amazing. Sleeping here has been one of the experiences we are never going to forget. For good.

Great location and ideal to visit Yala NP. Very friendly host and amazingly beautiful garden with owls, butterflies and various types of lizards. Helpful host arranged a great afternoon safari through Yala on our request.

We unfortunately did not sleep in the treehouse itself but in a small cabin just in front with view on the river. This was not clear to us when we booked. The room is very simple,without airconditioning or minifridge or anything (was known upfront) and the surroundings (birds, frogs and other animals) are very loud at night.

It was a great experience! Sleeping in a tree house is like an adventure itself. Get ready for a lot of different noises from the animals at night. We also got a night visit from a little mouse and a morning visit from a Komodo dragon during breakfast. Beware, if you're not an animal person. :) The owner was very friendly and welcoming, offered us welcome drinks, and the breakfast was also quite good. The whole house and the garden are fascinating, built with care and attention to detail. Don't miss the chandelier made of coconuts!

Absolutely beautiful. The room is clean and well taken care of. The garden is a masterpiece. Nice breakfast and helpful staff. We saw and actual crocodile float by from our balcony.

Amazing treehouse on the river Quiet location

We enjoyed our stay in the tree house. The main treehouse room wasn’t available but the other house was. It was so nice hearing all the birds and animal sounds overnight. The breakfast was simple. There was secure parking for the rented tuktuk. The garden and attention to detail was impressive. We went for a run to the lake in the morning.

10/10 to the staff! He prepared the breakfast for us before 4:30! The curry sandwich saved us from the full day safari. You can feel there’s an animal party on the roof. The experience is unforgettable! It’s definitely worth a try!

Saman is a very peaceful and friendly guy! Also he is a very talented artist and craftsman ! He build both of the tree houses and nearly all the other things by himself! He made us very good and rich breakfast. Both of the treehouses are so beautiful, clean and comfortable. We didnt miss anything in the houses. The garden is so nice. His son himanshu informed us about everything in whatsapp. He organized the safari for us and it was amazing. We had good luck to get the good driver Tesanda. He has experience of over 15 years and we where lucky to see leopard, elephant, crocodile and much other animals. We also highly recommend laith the tuktuk driver. The treehouse is a gem. Having built treehouses for my children and when I was a kid, this is my absolute dream come true. It is beyond anything I had imagined. Perched over the river it is solidly constructed with artistry and imagination. Saman, the host, has put so much love into the garden and treehouses, creating a tranquil and magical energy. He’s also an incredibly kind and welcoming host. You must come - it is truly special if you live nature.

This is a real tree house. Good one. Surrounded by jungle and river. Host arranged Yala safari for us. Above all a splendid picnic breakfast was provided, which was provided early in morning at 430 am so that we can take it with us for the safari. Mosquito repellent was provided and it was useful.

This is an improvement idea to add a swing in the garden. It will be good. Bathroom was private In the tree house, but some improvements can be done to make it better.

The treehouse is very unique built by the host. Nice view over the river with lots of birds, monkeys and wildlife adjacent. The garden sitting area and whole property he has done a beautiful job with lots of character in the stone work and handmade artistic lamps etc. It was clean, towels thick and bed very comfortable. The fan was enough to keep the room cool with the screened windows. Wifi also worked well.

The breakfast was always extremely large with lots of fruit to choose from, salty omelette and way too many white toast with jam. Maybe an option for Siri Lanka breakfast with hoppers would be better. Although the treehouse was a very unique experience it was also quite expensive compared to other properties though I doubt few would match the feel of it between the woodwork staircase, size of the tree etc. The hosts English is minimal which can make things a bit harder too although he was very friendly and you could tell he is proud and cares for the property he built.

It was definitely once in a lifetime experience. The tree house looks straight like from a fairy tale. Never seen anything like it! We saw a big monitor under our villa We obviously had some concerns but the house turned out to be very stable. There is no a/c but there is a fan. There is no windows, just nets for bugs so it is quite noisy in the morning from all the birds. The host is very nice and the breakfast was good - some eggs and toasts and fruits

What an amazing place to stay. It's truly a once in a lifetime place. It's such an exciting place, and you really feel next to nature. Our host was lovely and very accommodating. And breakfast was lovely the next morning.

It's amazing place but in the 34 deg heat we're glad we only spent one night there. It was very hot, so much so we struggled to sleep. It's definitely worth staying a night there though for the experience and just accepting that (Make sure you bring bug spray!). 100% recommend

Great service! The owner was very attentive and made us tea at 4:30 and a fantastic packed breakfast to take on our safari at 5 am. The tree house is right on the river which has great bird life. The gardens are beautiful and a good place to sit and relax.

Everything was simply magical! This is such a special place to stay. We were warmly welcomed by the owner. It’s hard to describe just how wonderful the tree house is. So cleverly designed and built. A wonderful experience to sleep high above the river. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was great too. There’s an outside seating area and even the WiFi works perfectly. We had to be up at 4am for safari and the owner made us a huge breakfast to go. A really incredible place.

This is the perfect place for a family. We had a wonderful experience at the tree top for the first time. Amazing environment , calm and relaxing from busy and noisy city life. Humble hospitality from the staff. Delicious homemade food with organic fruits served. Highly recommend place for everyone. Looking forward to visit again.

If you ever dreamed of a Tarzan and Jane romantic venue in a tree house built over a tropical river, this is for you! Fabulous setting in riverside garden, the 3 treehouses are a work of art and every detail bespeaks creative craftsmanship. There’s a hotel with pool next door, and your host provides a pre-safari packed breakfast at 0500!

Authentic tree house stay, perfect to go alongside our Yala safari. Excellent location with great views across the river. Staff are very kind and helpful, delicious breakfasts provided including a breakfast pack for our early morning start on the safari day. Basic facilities but clean and everything you need for an enjoyable stay.

Room quite hot at night however the fan helped (note there is no AC).

Beautiful place with terrific garden. The tree house is very clean. You feel yourself very secured inside. Staff is very kind and helpful. Very unique experience. Nice breakfast with plenty of fruits.

Monkeys jumped on the roof at night and scared me, while my husband was deep in sleep and did not even noticed.

Amazing atmosphere in the three-person Hut on pillars with a balcony within the tree, looking out onto the river. Very nice service including a welcome drink. Amazing nature-sounds from the jungle at night. Comfortable beds with mosquito nets, even for the third bed. Safari Tour to NP could be easily booked through the accommodation in advance and a wonderful breakfast was prepared as carry-along.

Surcharge of 3% when paying by card, so rather have cash on you. The two-person room is actually located in the tree with an even better view onto the river and more tree-house atmosphere

We've got welcome drinks, he organised our Safari Tour and he even prepared a basket with breakfast for the tour as we got picked up at 4:30am - location: we felt like being in the middle of paradise & jungle altogether, all the beautiful plants, the tree house over the river and just the entire vibe was amazing, we were actually sad that we only stayed for one night! - the tree house: everything was clean & very comfy and we just wanted to hang out there and enjoy the beautiful nature and natural sounds around us - we've had a quite strong thunderstorm during night but still felt very safe in the tree house and actually enjoyed the experience of being safe but still kind of in the middle of nature... Just book it & enjoy this experience, you'll love it!! :)

That we only stayed for one night!

We really enjoyed our stay in Kumbuk tree house. It has everything you need. The hosts were great and they even prepared our breakfast early in the morning to take away for the safari. I recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a more unconventional accommodation in the area.

The tree house is really something very special and a highlight of our trip. The son speaks English, so the father doesn't, but is still trying very hard and helping. He even brought us to the bus station :) at night you can hear some animals, which you have to get used to at first, otherwise everything was great :)
