The cottage itself is exceptionally well laid out. The hosts, Rhonda and Max have thought of every detail to make the stay comfortable and memorable.

There was nothing to dislike.

Rhonda left so much for us we could have arrived with nothing - honestly, you get eggs, bread, all the bits for breakfast, drinks etc. We brought everything with us but didn't need to. They have bikes, helmets, even a bike rack for your use on your car if you don't have one. There's a spa pool (we didn't use - horrible weather at the time). The view is amazing. Heaps of coffee and tea options. Very comfy bed, beautiful bathroom. Lovely walks nearby. The outdoor lighting is next level. They are so welcoming to dogs - it really was a lovely place to stay and we will totally go back - in better weather!

Turnaround is a bit tricky below the unit, and quite steep going up the driveway. We have a longer vehicle so probably more of an issue. If you're not confident park below.

We absolutely loved staying at Garden View Cottages. It's got a beautiful view, the cottage is perfect and has everything you could want and more. The hosts have thought deeply about the guest and their comfort. Including pets. 10/10 would return.

Absolutely great place to stay with wonderful views. Everything we could need and so much more. The heated spa was great and the lovely owners generously gave us so much food. The homemade bread was delicious. She helped us with our luggage as its quite steep to get there. Great communication. Easy walks nearby and could walk into town.Highly recommend this place.

From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped with everything you could need, including a full kitchen, a very comfortable bed, and a spacious deck offering magnificent views. The highlight of our stay was the spa, which provided the perfect place to relax and unwind. Our dogs loved the experience as well, which made the stay even more enjoyable for us. This certainly won’t be our last visit—we look forward to returning.

Beautiful cottage. We loved the private hot tub, porch overlooking Picton harbor and bay, breakfast food provided by the owner in our kitchen, and vegetable and herb garden that we could pick from. The owner even dropped off some delicious honey from their bee hives. We also enjoyed the record player and the great record collection. Highly recommend Garden View Cottage!

The cottage was comfortable, spacious and clean. It was also very well equipped and afforded a great view over Picton. It was easy to walk into town.

There is some noise from the passing trains but they are very infrequent and didn't cause us any annoyance

Everything. Never been provided with so much by a host. Fresh made Bread, milk, juice, coffee, tea and even honey. Location is incredible. The place is immaculate and modern and yet it’s still a woodland cabin. Fabulous to chill out in.

The location is superb with great views over Picton. The facilities are very good, the terrace for breakfast and evening meal was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub too.

Wir haben 2 Nächte in diesem besonders charmanten Appartment verbracht. Dieses Cottage ist super liebevoll und persönlich eingerichtet, alles was man braucht, ist vorhanden … über Küchenutensilien, Nespressomschine, Milchaufschäumer, Toaster, Kombimikrowelle, Spülmaschine, auch die dringend benötigte Waschmaschine stand zur Verfügung … ganz besonders hat meinem Mann die beeindruckende Plattensammlung samt Plattenspieler gefallen - so hatten wir die ganze Zeit tolle Musik! Auf der Terrasse am Hang hat man eine phantastischen Blick über den Ort auf den Fährhafen… zu Fuß ist alles in 20 - 30 Minuten erreichbar. Das Highlight ist der beleuchtete Whirlpool, der uns abends die perfekte Entspannung beschert hat. Unsere hosts Rhonda und Max waren unglaublich gastfreundlich und hilfsbereit und haben uns sehr herzlich versorgt ( u.a.mit wunderbarem Bio-Frühstück, das z.T. aus dem eigenen Garten und den eigenen Hühnern stammte ) Aus dem Garten durften wir uns auch selber bedienen, z.B. mit Tomaten, Beeren und Kräutern. Wir sind sehr froh, dass wir diese Unterkunft gefunden haben!

Nestled in the forest with the most fantastic views across Picton and the Charlotte Sound, very private, spacious, super comfortable with literally everything that you could need. And more - sit on your balcony after the BBQ you made on the massive GasBBQ and listen to old LPs on the record player … Fresh eggs from the owners’ own chicken, self baked bread from Rhonda and it goes on. We would have loved to stay longer. A true Gem, highly recommend! Thank you to the lovely hosts!

What a gorgeously appointed cottage! Beautifully designed, clean and comfortable, with all the little extras that make a stay truly special. Close to hiking trails and town, well-stocked with breakfast items, a killer record collection and a hot tub with a view! Hosts Rhonda and Max were friendly and helpful and even let us check out a bit late as the weather wasn’t great and we had an afternoon ferry. Thanks for a fabulous visit!

This accommodation had everything we needed for our short stay. Max and Rhonda were very thoughtful and friendly. They provided us great recommendations for things to do in the area and they also provided homemade bread and fresh eggs. The accommodation is only a 5 minute drive from Picton and the views were incredible. It also has great access to local walks from the accommodation. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Max and Rhonda are the best hosts! In addition to providing us with vegan breakfast options, Max made us homemade baked beans which we ended up eating for dinner since we wanted to spend more time at the cottage! There is plenty to see and do in the area and we really enjoyed our stay. Max and Rhonda have thought of everything.

The place is a gem hidden in the garden! We enjoyed every second of our stay - the place is organised to perfection, you will find everything you need for a comfortable gateway. And the views are absolutely stunning! Special kudos to the hosts - so helpful, welcoming and caring!

Het is een appartement waar echt aan alles is gedacht. Je kan het niet bedenken of het is aanwezig. De jacuzzi is wel een topper. Hij is altijd warm en werkt eenvoudig. De badkamer is heel luxe, het bed ligt heerlijk en de elpee' s zijn een bijzondere aanvulling. Het balkon met uitzicht is fantastisch! Verrassend zijn de wandelpaden die vanuit het appartement starten. Het is een genot om hier te verblijven.

We liked the location within walking distance of the centre of town and the start of some great walks. It is a lovely comfortable cottage and Rhonda provided welcoming refreshments on our arrival as well as delicious homemade bread, condiments, sweets, milk, cereals, fresh eggs, and a wide range of teas and coffee.

Everything about this property is outstanding. From the moment you book the communication is on point The accommodation is amazing, ever detail has been thought of - We will definitely be back Plus we could take our dog and he was spoilt as well. Rhonda was an amazing host

Thanks Rhonda and Max for a wonderful stay in your beautifully appointed cottage with a lovely view. There were lots of thoughtful touches, such as the fresh eggs and bread and bathroom supplies. It was also great to be able to do a load of washing and dry it naturally on a rack on the deck. Top experience all round.

From start to finish, this stay was amazing. The property is lovely- well designed and decorated. Max and Rhonda are warm and welcoming hosts. The property is well equipped, and Rhonda baked some fresh bread for us. They also provided eggs, milk and some other goodies. The property has the most amazing view down to the bay, and is about 20 minutes walk. Picton is a nice and compact town. We can recommend the bakers! If we are ever this way again, I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Max and Rhonda.

We had everything we needed (and wanted!) for a delicious breakfast--fresh eggs, homemade bread, jams/honey, yogurt, coffee, milk, and a delightful assortment of teas. The space is decorated tastefully and with whimsy. So fun to stay there. The views from the deck and bedroom are wonderful. We enjoyed the hot tub, the extensive record collection, the window seat in the bedroom looking out over the surrounding area and the sound, and the warmth and generosity of our hosts. There's so much to do in the Picton area--highly recommend 2-3 nights (especially if you want to visit some local wineries). Everything was exactly to our liking. We understood that we'd want to drive to town for longer-day excursions (although walking is possible), but that was just fine for us--very easy and short drive. We also liked that we could hike a couple of different trails right from the property.

Excellent stay at Garden View Cottages, we loved our 2 night stay. The facilities were amazing from the hot tub and BBQ deck, to the coffee machine and record player! Lovely touch supplying breakfast. Very friendly host, would 100% recommend

Perfect. If you are looking for somewhere in the Picton area we can't recommend this stay enough. So many thoughtful touches that made us feel so welcome and comfortable.

Rhonda and Max were the perfect hosts. They picked us up from the ferry terminal and drove us in the next day to pick up our hire car. The cottage had everything we needed and more. We were given eggs from their chooks, home-baked bread, OJ, milk, coffee, muesli, yoghurt... it was fabulous! We also got a cheese platter on our first evening. The view from the cottage is breathtaking, and the interior is really thoughtfully and stylishly decorated.

There is train passing by couple of times a day including early morning. if you are sensitive to noise it may wake you up. That said it didn’t impact our wonderful experience.

We couldn’t have been happier with this place. Rhonda and Max are amazing hosts and their cottage is amazing! It is decorated so beautifully and they have literally thought of everything. Rhonda made us a cheese plate and made fresh bread. They also have eggs, cereal, butter, jam and all of the things you need to have a lovely breakfast. They also have an amazing vinyl selection and a private hot tub, laundry and a gorgeous view. We truly couldn’t have been happier with this place of these hosts! Don’t hesitate for a second to stay here!

Rhonda and Max were wonderful welcoming hosts. They provided homemade bread and fresh eggs from their chickens as well as honey that Max had made.. The view from the balcony was beautiful over the town of Picton and the Queen Charlotte sound. The apartment was big and comfortable, modern and well equipped. A great experience because of their warmth and hospitality.

A stunning place to stay. Hospitality was amazing. Rhonda and Max are so kind and provide everything that you could possibly need. The cottage is so cozy and comfortable. Thank you for looking after us. Couldn't have asked for more!

I absolutely loved my stay at Garden View Cottage. The hosts were so welcoming, helping me with my luggage, showing me around the property (how to operate the record player, outside speakers, removing the hot tub cover etc), and stocking the fridge/cupboard with a few essentials (including freshly laid eggs from their chickens!). They both made me feel super welcome and the best part is the property is dog friendly. The cottage is fully fenced so I could leave my dog there quite safely when I popped out. There's also a covered balcony that would have been suitable if the weather was bad. The view from the balcony is exceptional. I could sit out there all afternoon and evening with a drink and snacks. The hot tub is very private and has a similarly stunning view. There are lots of little touches that make the place comfortable - books to read, a well-equipped kitchen, a fun colour scheme and beautiful interior decoration, fantastic water pressure in the shower. The location is fantastic - just a short walk down the drive and then flat into town. Only about 20 mins slow walk from the cottage to the waterfront. Picton is also super dog friendly with plenty of green space and the waterfront for leisurely walks. I'm already wondering when I might be able to manage another visit!

Max warned me about the train that goes past twice a day. Yes you do hear it, can't avoid it. I think with a longer stay it's one of those noises you probably get used to. If you are a light sleeper you might want to take ear plugs with you.

We loved everything about this property. It was in a great location and loved how we could take our dog with us. Rhonda the host was amazing 👏 ( hubby was away for the weekend so didn't get to meet him) The cottage has everything you would need for youre time away and is a very relaxed, very clean property. 100% recommend.

There is nothing we didn’t like about the property

Absolutely stunning cottage, our best accommodation in the three months we have been in New Zealand. Spotlessly clean,well equipped with all the amenities you need. Lovely to sit on the deck looking at the stunning views. Quick walk into town if you need to go to shops etc. The extra touches of the fresh farm eggs, delicious homemade bread and yummy cheese platter just made our stay even more memorable. Rhonda and Max are fabulous hosts and go above and beyond their means to make sure you have a fantastic experience. Will definitely be back but for a much longer time next.

The accommodation was super nice and everything is from very high quality. The views are amazing and the extra large beds were super comfy. What we liked most though were the hosts themselves. From a very warm welcome, over the nice touches within the place, to the breakfast (eggs from their own chicken and no problem to cater dietary requirements) - everything was just perfect! As an extra they offer a hot tub, bikes and the room even had some vinyls and a player. They even prepared us their Tandem bike so we could try that too.

We loved everything all the wonderful touchs with the eggs , the views were amazing, the cool record player to listen to music outside . The hot tub it was a dream. The hosts were so welcoming and lovely it was an amazing weekend.

Fantastic getaway and perfectly located with fabulous view, wonderfully appointed with quality fixtures and fittings, quiet and relaxing in the spa each day devine!

Only our personal preference of fresh milk instead of UHT and butter instead of margarine spread. But seriously everything was fantastic, we felt like it was a home away form home ... only better !

We loved the feeling of seclusion but only being a 20 minute walk into town. The hot tub was also a favourite with us! Max & Rhonda put such an effort into small, personal touches and it really made our stay! Would definitely recommend to anyone going through Picton.

The view from the cottage was one of the many highlights of our stay, including a loaf of freshly baked bread upon arrival and lots of goodies in the refrigerator! The cottage was beautiful, well appointed and had a great deck and a hot tub. We were especially appreciative of the friendliness and helpfulness of the hosts who went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. When it became obvious that the Inter-Islander Ferry from Picton to Wellington would not be running as scheduled for our onward journey, our hosts helped us arrange alternate air travel and delivered us to the airport in Blenheim. Definitely would stay here again!

Max and Rhonda are superb and generous hosts who make staying here an absolute treat. The cottage is finished to an exceptional standard and is in a lovely peaceful location with great views from the balcony over Picton and just a 20 min safe walk to town.
