Ålesund downtown loft room with shared bathroom

Great spot

Directions to my room took me to a room with a couple already in it, they had been given the same directions it seems. Found another room tho. Signs around saying the common areas were under constant surveillance made for a weird feeling. Screened off areas of the living room made it hard to tell if someone was always there in the common areas or not. Not a comfortable vibe in the common spaces due to that although the facilities itself were great

The location

I am sorry to say it, but probably one of the most dirty places I have ever stayed at. The fridge was brown inside and smelled like rotten food, our room smelled like someone had just slepped in there and the walls and floor of our bedroom were visibly filthy. The floor in and around the kitchen was very sticky

Great location, easy free parking when arriving late and leaving early morning, good communication from staff, very comfy bed and we liked that we were right by the bathroom (felt almost like a private bathroom)

Price was a bit high for a shared room, stairs going to the third floor meant we had to only bring our small suitcase (not our full one). The night we arrived there was a party going on on the first floor, and the next morning the ground floor and outside smelled like vomit :(

Good location, clean room, nice apartment and shared spaces. The kitchen is a plus.

Location is good. Close to the city centre.

There were two rooms, which you could open with the same key. We were first to enter the apartment and dropped our stuff before we went out. When we came back, our door was open as the other person thought it was his room. The owner solved the situation. Fridge was full of food from someone else and not that clean. Washing machine and dryer were fully loaded from someone else (???). Had to get permission from the owner to get them out to do our washing. The roommate turned the dryer on in the middle of the night and the noise was audible till 7:30 in the morning. There was a lot of stuff on stairs which made it difficult to get the luggage up. So we left it in the car. Living room was clean but also a lot of personal stuff. In the kitchen there were tools which do not belong there (drill machine, power tools)

A lovely place with lovely host and hostess with whom you can cohabitate easily. No pressure to engage, simple and sensible rules to follow, and gracious hospitality and kindness all around.

Just be aware that reaching this apartment requires a small trek up a street with a sharper-than-usual incline. (Ålesund is nicely flat except where it isn't!) If you are carrying heavy luggage, this might present a short but real challenge.

Close to shopping and restaurants, good communication with host!

Igvars went out of his way to be helpful. He is friendly, knowledgeable and discreet - a calm giant indeed. We loved the decor, the flat was well equipped and the location is superb - close to galleries, restaurants and shops. We particularly enjoyed the Jugendstil gallery/museum. We would be very happy to stay again.

People complain about the spiral staircase so I assumed it was a tiny cast iron affair. But it's not - it's a wide wooden staircase. Obviously it helps if Igvars meets you and carries the big suitcase upstairs, but we just got lucky!

Very kool, Boho type deco. Loved it. The owner is obviously a traveller and knows what's required of travellers and back packers. As previously mentioned by others, it's on the 2nd fl with narrow stairs in an old building. There is no elevator. The double room would be a little small for 2 ppl, but it's as decribed in the photos. Bonus washing machine and dryer, and a fab kitchen....... Would definitely stay again.

Koselig leilighet, flott beliggenhet til sentrum, rent, behagelig seng og de andre gjestene var hyggelige.

Beliggenheten var fin.

Annen gjest som ikke hadde fått med seg at hun/de ikke var alene. Truet med å ringe politiet da jeg låste meg inn. Kom inn litt seint på kvelden og da gikk vaskemasinen på full tromling opp mot kl 23 på kvelden, og det opplevdes ugreit.. Hadde tenkt å stå opp og snakke med henne, men hun stoppet vasken rett før jeg kom ut.. Så da lot jeg det bli med det.

De ligging

Het was erg rommelig. Fitness spullen op de grond,kleding en koffer verspreid door het appartement,pakketje op de tafel, volle vaatwasser en wasmachine waardoor je je een beetje een indringer voelde en het gevoel kreeg dat er ieder moment nog iemand binnen kon komen. Verder medicatie en spullen in de ijskast maar geen koffie of melk te bekennen.

Központi helyen van a lakás, ahol 2 szoba kiadó. A tulajdonos nem tartózkodott ott, csak amikor kicsekkoltunk, akkor találkoztunk vele. A szoba kicsi, de kényelmes volt, nagy tévével és mikrohullámú sütővel. Az ágy nem túl kemény, de nem is puha. A felszerelt konyhát lehetett használni (hútő, sütő, vízforraló, stb.). A lakás a második emeleten van (tetőtér). Lakáshoz közel van több élelmiszer bolt, buszmegálló, belváros és a svai szauna is.

Azt jó lett volna tudni, hogy a másik szobát mikor használják, mert jól meglepődtünk, amikor megérkezett az új lakó. A nappali-konyhánál csak egy légkondi volt a fűtés, ami miatt néha elég hideg volt, de nem töltöttünk ott sok időt, szóval nem volt gond.

That i can't lock my room from the inside, especially when another person is staying on the other room. But aside from that everything is good. I can stay here again :)

Huone oli kauniisti ja persoonallisesti sisustetussa ullakkoasunnossa. Makuuhuone oli pieni mutta viihtyisä, ja sänky oli yksi mukavimmista missä olen nukkunut! Erinomainen sijainti, bussipysäkille käveli hetkessä.

First, I like the location. It's near my personal travel reason. Second, near supermarket, city centre, restaurants and pub. Third, good price for a short time staying

Il était un peu difficile de savoir ce qu'on pouvait utiliser dans l'appartement parce qu'il y avait peu d'indications et notre hôte est surtout resté dans sa chambre.

The location is perfect as you're in a quiet street in the city center. The flat in itself is amazing; it's so beautifully decorated, the room is spacious enough and you have all comodities in the flat. The host, Igvars, is very nice and helpful, all was great!

Location is on point. I have my own room with a comfy queen-sized bed. Good-sized, clean bath/toilet.

Great location right near the centre of town. After navigating the spiral staircase to the third floor, a little lift room by the bathroom is setup for you. The apartment is shared with the owner. The bathroom is exceptionally clean, the room small but comfortable. We didn’t share the living area or kitchen on our short overnight stay but perhaps you could Parking available on the surround streets no problem Wouldn’t advise taking a full suitcase upstairs

A great value and excellent location. Loft room is very small and got very warm thru the night but shared living area, kitchen and bathroom were all comfortable. We were only there 1 night and saw the host for just a few minutes but he was very friendly.

Wasn’t sure if we could open the small window - would have been more comfortable if we could.

It’s located right in the centre of Alesund and in a nice house. It’s easy to find and the owner contacted me in advance to give me information on how to self check-in. I really like the style of the decoration inside the house which I believe will make guests feel at home. My room is small but really clean and cozy.

Almost nothing, except the smell in the refrigerator was a bit strange, perhaps because of the food that other guests stored inside

If you like Indian food, then this is the place for you. The bed smells like an Indian restaurant!

It is located in the center of the city. The whole apartment has fully equipped kitchen. There's clean bathroom. I love the cosy vibe inside the apartment. Bed with memory foam is comfortable to sleep on. Theres window everywhere in the apartment which is I like.
