Man fühlt sich sofort wie Zuhause ist gleich Teil der Familie. Man hat sich total willkommen gefühlt und es war schön, einfach bei einer Tasse Tee zusammen zu sitzen und miteinander zu quatschen. Die Veranda ist super gemütlich und hätten wir nicht weiterziehen müssen würde ich da heute noch liegen. Das Frühstück war super lecker. Ich würde die Unterkunft jedem weiterempfehlen und wenn ich mal wieder in Ella sein sollte, würde ich nur diese Unterkunft wählen.

Es war alles perfekt.

Wat een heerlijk verblijf hebben we hier gehad! Fijne aankomst, hele lieve gastvrouw en dochters. Waanzinnige plek, je bent zo lopend in het centrum. Top locatie. Ook in de buurt van theefabriek, little Adams peak en het treinstation van Ella en de nine arch bridge. Wij hebben alles lopend gedaan. Heerlijk ontbijt gehad. Fijne gesprekken, we kijken terug op een mooi verblijf in Ella! Beste van de hele vakantie!

Niets, alles boven verwachting! Het was jammer om na vier nachten afscheid te moeten nemen. ♥️

​We had such a wonderful stay here! The location in Ella is absolute perfection, but what truly makes this place special is the host. She is amazing and very friendly, and always ready to help with anything you need. ​A big bonus is that the property is entirely women-led, which creates such a welcoming and warm atmosphere. If you choose to stay at the Tunnel Gap, male sure you don't miss the breakfasts (delicious!!) and the Cooking Class!H Hghly, highly recommended if you want to try authentic flavors! f you love animals, you'll adore the garden. There are five adorable kittens roaming around, each one cuter than the last!

Amazing location, so close to railway station and city centre. Amazing host, so friendly and accommodating, helped us with visa extension. Breakfast was delicious and so fresh. Room was so comfortable and had an amazing nights sleep. Wish we could have stayed longer.

So close to the centre of town but away from all the bustle. Surrounded by tea plantations. A lovely veranda to sit out on. Very friendly family with so many gorgeous cats, dogs and a kitten. Great cookery lesson.

Quelle expérience extraordinaire que d'avoir séjourné chez Sudha ! Son accueil est exceptionnel et l'on se sent immédiatement comme à la maison. Je recommande cet établissement à tous ceux qui passent par Kandy. Nous y retournerons sans la moindre hésitation. Les lits sont très confortables et les petits-déjeuners sont délicieux, copieux et préparés avec beaucoup de soin, un régal! Nous avons également beaucoup apprécié ses deux filles, qui sont vraiment adorables et ont contribué à rendre notre séjour encore plus agréable. Nous avons été vraiment tristes de partir et regrettons de n'y être restés que trois nuits. Un immense merci à Sudha pour sa gentillesse, sa disponibilité et sa générosité. Ce séjour restera l'un des plus beaux souvenirs de notre voyage au Sri Lanka.

We truly enjoyed every minute in this homestay. Great base location for our 3 days in Ella ; quite, nice outdoor facilities, wonderful breakfast.....and Sudha (the owner) was the cherry on the pie ! What a warm welcome and hospitality troughout our stay. Definitely to recommend if you're looking for a true Sir Lankian experience

Our host Sudha was so lovely and welcoming. The location is perfect with beautiful views close enough to town. We did the cooking class too which I would highly recommend great food and lovely atmosphere cooking with a Sri Lankan family.

Super fijn verblijf gehad, Sudha is zo’n enorm lieve vrouw. Ze heeft heel erg goed voor ons gezorgd, we hebben lekker met haar gekletst en ze heeft ons kookles gegeven wat super leuk en erg lekker was! Ook heeft ze nog onze kleding gewassen, al met al een top verblijf, hele dikke aanraader!!!!

We staying in the tent and we had panoramic views of Ella, the beds were comfy and we had a dog friend we liked to call Susie. We celebrated new years with the family it was amazing

Ich weiß gar nicht wo ich anfangen soll. Der Homestay befindet sich sehr zentral, die ersten Restaurants liegen direkt drum rum. Es gibt auch eine kleinere Teefabrik direkt in der Nähe (welche ebenfalls zu empfehlen ist). Sudha, die Gastgeberin, ist eine wirklich sehr liebevolle Frau. Sie hat unseren Aufenthalt zu etwas sehr besonderem gemacht! Es gab nicht nur gute Tipps und tolle Gespräche, auch das Essen war sehr lecker und authentisch! Wir haben hier auch einen Kochkurs gemacht und würden es jedem empfehlen. Es hat so viel Spaß gemacht und die Rezepte werden auf jeden Fall nachgekocht. Wenn wir nochmal nach Sri Lanka kommen, dann definitiv wieder hier her, denn dieser Stay vermittelt direkt ein familiär-wohliges Gefühl!

I felt as part of a family, the lady running the business gave me good tips to walk around Ella and explore nice gems around. I would highly recommend this place! Location was also very good - in a quiet spot but only a few minutes walking from the main road and 6 to get to the train station. Good bakery on the corner called Nanda Restaurant.

Struttura immersa nelle piantagioni di tè, vicino alla stazione del treno e al centro, ma in zona tranquilla senza rumori. La famiglia che la gestisce è stata fantastica, molto accogliente e disponibile. Da loro abbiamo anche noleggiato uno scooter per visitare i dintorni. Camera comoda e pulita, come da foto. Colazione strepitosa

Struttura perfetta per passare poche notti, in una posizione ottima, la signora che ci ha accolto è stata amorevole e super gentile! La stanza aveva tutto il necessario. Ottimo qualità prezzo! Nella casa erano presenti tanti gattini dolcissimi

Przemiła właścicielka, jej misją było, żebyś się czuł jak w domu. Pokój czysty, są ręczniki, pościel, moskitiery, wiatrak, brak klimatyzacji, ale w Ella jest ona niepotrzebna, gdyż jest tam chłodniej niż na wybrzeżu. Blisko do centrum. Dostępne pyszne śniadanie. Lime pancakes są najlepsze.

Sudha was so nice so was her family. Cutest cats and dogs, we really enjoyed the cooking class, we had way too much to eat after haha! Hot shower!

Leeches came up I don’t know where while in the shower but only a few. Everything else was great and as expected!

L’emplacement est pratique car proche du centre mais c’est très bruyant : on est juste au dessus de la ville qui est très festive et tous les sons montent…

When I first arrived, they gave me some free tea. It all went downhill from there.

This was the worst experience I've had after spending more than a month staying in similar homestay in Sri Lanka. The room was fine, a bit old, run down, damp as other people mentioned. But my main complaint was the way I was treated. I had booked 4 nights. And on the 2nd day the owner begged me to switch rooms to a different hotel so she could rent out my room and make more money. The new homestay was right next to a loud busy intersection without glass in all the windows so it sounded like tuk tuks were basically in the room. When I told the Tunnel Gap owner that I was not happy with this switch. She said, "Too bad, I've done all I can do for you." The new hotel was also supposed to be cheaper, but she made me pay the original price. She offered me 1 free breakfast and acted like a pancake should make up for having to move rooms/homestay everyday as well as missing a night of sleep due to the traffic noises. (I did move to a new hotel on the last day, and she took the cost of the "free breakfast" out of my refund.) This experience ruined Ella for me. I can't wait to get as far away from here as possible.

Tout!!!! C'était un magnifique séjour, nous aurions voulu rester plus !!! Une famille tellement bienveillante, des petits déjeuner juste merveilleux !!!vraiment allez y les yeux fermés !!! Des chambres subliment, avec salle de bain pour chaque chambre ! Et le gros plus, ils peuvent faire nos lessives!!!en milieu de voyage, c'était parfait !!! Et merci à eux, car moins de 24h pour laver et sécher le linge de 6 personnes!!! Vraiment top !(bien sur il y a un supplément, mais rien comparé aux autres lieu qui font des prix à la pièce !!! La c'est 2euros le kg!!! )

Very lovely staff and our first room was so nice. Nice location and the host was very kind and helpful when we needed

unfortunately due to a family reservation we got moved to a different outside of the main home stay which wasn’t as nice, for the same price. Our room change felt like a downgrade from the first room. We were put down a long driveway with a smaller room and no furniture to put out our belongings - just two beds. Keep in mind the driveway is steep and be careful if bringing up a scooter! Best to park on the road below

was absolutely amazing! the location, the rooms, everything was perfect. the owner was very kind, we loved her pets, especially her dog bubbly. we also had breakfast in the morning that included pancakes, fruit, eggs, bread, coffee, everything was perfect.

Die Unterkunft ist nur 5 Minuten vom Bahnhof zu Fuß entfernt und man hat einen netten Blick über Teile der Stadt und die Berge inklusive Sonnenuntergang. Restaurants und Cafés sind sehr schnell zu erreichen. Das Frühstück in der Unterkunft ist das beste und üppigste was wir bisher auf der Reise hatten und die Host-Familie ist generell sehr nett und hilft schnell bei Fragen. Wir haben dort auch einen Scooter gemietet und unsere Wäsche gewaschen. Die Matratzen waren sehr bequem und das Zelt sehr geräumig. Zusätzlich gab es eine kleine Terrasse. Das Bad war ein kleines Nebengebäude mit warmer Dusche, allerdings halb draußen sodass häufiger kleine Tiere reingekommen sind.

Man muss sich bewusst sein, dass man in einem Zelt schläft, wodurch es relativ laut ist - spätestens durch den ersten Zug wird man wach (hat uns aber nicht gestört). Das WLAN hat nicht gut funktioniert - es gibt aber unten ein weiteres.

the location is perfect, you are right at the top of the high street and can walk to everything. The lady who runs it speaks perfect English and is so sweet. She loves hosting and is really helpful. The breakfast was huge and really tasty. The rooms are dated but you are paying such a cheap price that you would expect that. You are paying for the location

A lovely guesthouse, simple and without frills, but comfortable and very welcoming. Sudha was especially helpful and warm! It's located by a tea estate, and is up in a steep hill, and though there's noise from the town bars, it's not disturbing. Breakfast was a joy: filling and tasty. A warm recommendation, especially if being near the station is required.

Really nice place to enjoy nature. We stayed at the tent and it was just an amazing experience.

Our stay was perfect. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We felt at home! The breakfast is very good. Good position, very close to the center of Ella. Great for Pekoe Trail!

El personal muy amable y el desayuno muy bueno y abundante. La terraza de fuera perfecta para estar a la fresca. Hay gatos y algún perro, q nosotras no nos molestos, pero por si acaso alergias.

La habitación en nuestro caso que era para 4, un poco justa de espacio para todas las mochilas.

Estuvimos 2 noches. Una en tienda de campaña, las vistas y terraza espectaculares. La tienda muy amplia y cómoda. La segunda noche en habitación con baño dentro. Todo genial. La anfitriona muy amable y nos ayudó con todo. Su trato con nosotras fue excepcional.

La tienda tiene el aseo fuera y hay que caminar unos pasos y ese camino está al aire libre. Sí que es privado, pero nos resultó incómodo. Las instalaciones de este baño son mejorables también. La dueña lo entendió perfectamente y nos ofreció cambiar a habitación al día siguiente con baño dentro.

Bellissimo contesto, davvero molto particolare, host disponibilissimo, molto centrale. Super consigliato.

Les chambres chez l'habitant sont basiques mais propres. Très bon petit déjeuner à 1200 roupies. Mais pour le même prix à Ella il y a beaucoup mieux.

L'emplacement bruyant derrière la gare et les bars qui passent de la musique toute la nuit. L'accès n'est pas facile, la pente est raide et glissante et il faut passer par un petit tunnel avec beaucoup de circulation.

Hôte très accueillante et de bon conseil.Les chambres sont confortables et la terrasse très agréable. Petit déjeuner excellent. Hotel très bien situé à 5 min à pied du centre de Ella mais un peu à l'écart de la ville pour être un peu plus au calme car ville très animée la nuit. Nous y retournerons volontiers.

Accès un peu difficile, hôtel dans une montée à faire à pied ( environ 50m).

Ontzettend lieve eigenaresse ontvangt je met open armen in haar homestay. Heerlijk ontbijtje met uitzicht op een prachtige tuin en in het gezelschap van twee ontzettend lieve honden (zelfs mijn jongste dochter die bang is voor de meeste honden was dol op deze). En ook de locatie is top: links de hoek om zitten alle shops en restaurants. Voor ons was het een leuke afwisseling tussen alle variaties aan hotels door (2 nachten).

Wat een fantastische plek!! Wij waren met twee kinderen, die voelden zich er direct thuis! Zo gastvrij.. doe ook de kookworkshop bij dit gezin, erg leuk!

Amazing host family, we stayed for 5 nights and loved every part of it. One night we took the cooking class which we can highly recommend and we enjoyed cuddling with the cats. We got served the best breakfast we had in our whole trip and were so close to town. Definitely would come back!

Sudha is de liefste gastvrouw die je maar kunt bedenken. Ze heeft een heerlijke homestay, waar je lekker in het groen op de veranda kan zitten. Er lopen katten en honden rond wat het extra gezellig maakt. Ella was best heftig qua lawaai en toerisme, maar bij Sudha voel je je thuis en kan je je er lekker aan onttrekken. Je kan samen met haar heerlijk koken, of lekker bij de buren gaan eten. Aanrader!

Die Unterkunft ist super gelegen und ein bisschen abseits vom Trubel des Ortes. Die Zimmer sind nett eingerichtet und die Gastgeberin ist mega freundlich und herzlich! Das Frühstück war mega toll: Toast mit Ei und Avocado und Egg Hopper mit Avocado, Pancakes, frisches Obst...echt klasse! Auch die Veranda lud zum Chillen ein... Wir waren sehr zufrieden!

Chambres d'hôtes à proximité de la gare et du petit centre, on peut tout faire à pied. Par contre la montée est raide pour y arriver mais ça fait parti du charme. Il y a une plantation de thé juste à côté. Le petit déjeuner est très copieux et excellent. Les hôtes sont charmants. Il y a des chiens et chats qui ont beaucoup plu à nos filles.

Our two families adored our stay at Tunnel Gap for 4 nights. Sudha was so welcoming and spoke excellent English. She cooked us an incredible breakfast, gave us a cooking class, showed us around her garden and tea plantation, and made great recommendations for our trip. The kids loved playing with the 2 dogs, 5 cats and 2 kittens. The location was ideal - a 5 minute walk from the train and main street but quiet enough at night. No aircon but fans were comfortable for Ella’s cooler nights. Excellent value for money and a genuine home.

We knew the rooms / bathrooms would be a little dated based on the photos and can’t fault them given the price.

Wir wurden bei unserer Ankunft herzlich empfangen und haben uns vom ersten Moment an willkommen gefühlt. Das Frühstück war reichlich und sehr lecker. Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Unterkunft ist zudem sehr gut gelegen. In der Nähe gibt es viele Restaurants und auch das Zentrum ist nicht weit entfernt. Wir können den Aufenthalt hier weiterempfehlen!
