Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The building was spectacularly, keeping its historic authenticity. The staff didn’t disappoint either, they helped in every way possible, I had an issue with my phone, which I was given assistance with, considering it was my problem not the hotels. It was also great value,at the time I was staying, early September.
I was unable to work out the AC ,it was hot and humid when I was staying. It was just that I arrived back late to the hotel,if it was earlier I could have had assistance on how to work it out.
A gorgeous, solid built, historic and well maintained family-run Haveli (from 16th century) inside the Jaisalmer fort. Nearby the Jain temples with wind-bell sounds in the background, in the historic town and all, altogether this was such an experience. The room is clean and comfortable, everything worked including aircon and Internet. We had a city view with a balcony and, it was so comfortable and nice, the whole setting made us nearly extending our stay (we couldn’t due to schedule limits however). The host and his family went above and beyond for us - pick up/drop off service by the fort entrance, bringing up/down the luggages, offering walkin tour around the fort, and many more. Breakfast was modest but tasty Indian style home cooked food (we loved it).
The shower pressure was quite weak, and there weren’t hot water at the time of our stay (August) but as it was quite warm enough we didn’t care.
Nothing. All was perfect.
The staff and the historical place, such a unique stay.
Such a wonderful stay in Jaisalmer. We wanted a traditional stay in the “Golden City” and this was the perfect match. It’s 500 years old Haveli with originality well preserved by the owners who stay in the same house. We were delighted by the hospitality of the owners who treated us with kindness and extended warmth throughout our stay. We were taken for a fort walking tour with history of the place so well explained. We strongly recommend this place in Jaisalmer.

On recommande vivement.

Assolutamente NULLA
Amazing location in fort within a haveli. Great breakfast! Free fort tour. They let us keep stuff while on safari and then shower after. Can't recommend this place enough! An amazing place and family to stay with!!
The position in the center of the old city and the ancient structure of the building
The room without air conditioning was beautiful but too hot
We had booked a suite and the room was actually and truly a suite. There was a wide corridor leading to a spacious seating/dining area which opened into a large bedroom. The Haveli window opens directly to the highest rampart of the fort. So our bedroom itself was a view point!!!!! The open courtyard and the intricately carved windows and doors really take you back in time. We loved the complimentary HERITAGE WALK, learnt many interesting / unheard of stories that are not in the pages of travel magazines. Like the Unique Wedding Invitations of Jaisalmer and the Unfinished Memorials of the Kings and the Relocated JAIN Temple. The hotel also organized a DESERT SAFARI. We were told that we would be taken to a unique spot NOT frequented by other tourists. We thought it was 'marketing talk'. But the spot where we were taken to (On Camels) was actually a very beautiful and secluded spot. The Sky was so close and soooo clear. It was almost like watching the dome of a Planetarium. My daughter loved it.
The Haveli is located inside the innermost ring of the Jaisalmer fort. The Taxi / Auto stop at the second gate. From there one has to WALK to the Haveli. Of course the hotel will ferry your luggage on two-wheelers. But Taxi will Not drop you to the hotel door. Expect 5-10 minutes of walking to reach the hotel.
The view from our room was stunning. The location is great and quiet. The staff is really friendly and helpful.
Just lovely! The King room is spectacular - was one of our best stays in India.
The room was more like a suit with the sitting area, bedroom and bathroom. Considering this is 500 years old Haveli, they managed to incorporate modern facilities like AC and shower with hot water. the view from the room was ok, looking out to the city from the fort. Location was close to Jain temple and made for an easy moving around. the family that hosted us was very accommodative and took good care of us.
Although we like to walk, sometimes walking in the heat through the congested, and not always clean Jaisalmer was cumbersome. The breakfast area across from the main Haveli offered good views, but the entry there could have been cleaner.
Lovely old Haveli in the Fort. The family is very welcoming and understandably proud of their history and heritage. The walking tour was very informative. The front rooms are more atmospheric than the back rooms, but all are spacious and well kept. The “nooks” were spectacular for watching the sunrise/sunset and viewing the chain temples. We booked a camel tour through their recommended guide which we enjoyed.
The building is amazing (500 years old, breathtaking history). Family lives in the house (a real home stay) and tries everything to make one feel good. Breakfast on the rooftop of the house next door with a wonderful view of the Jain temples. The rooms/suites are so special (beautifully carved stone).
Bathroom could be problematic for older or disabled persons.
If you’re after a heritage property with no frills thus us your place. Our train was delayed and arrived at 1 am but the hotel had arranged transport for us from the station & we were welcomed even at that time. The room looked palatial, well decorated & a view onto the street. There was no aircon but this was as advertised & the fan was more than sufficient while we were there. We stayed over the Holi festival & enjoyed the celebrations with the family on the Thursday night. They also advised us on the day itself. We had a complementary tour of the fort which was fab. Each time we arrived back at the hotel we were welcomed as if we were part of the family. Great stay & would recommend.
Nothing
Hotel Suraj has a lot of character, but not clean enough for western tastes. Staff were pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was good. The room was large and the bathroom worked
None of the doors or windows sealed. There were pigeons in the foyer. We couldn't open the window shutters in case pigeons flew/walked in, so the room was dark. There were 2 species of Gekko in the room and I was fearful of what else could enter. The fittings were dusty and dated
The care, the welcome and the warmth of the hospitality of the family, especially Shubham and Gokul, were simply incredible. We were given a free walking tour of the city by Shubham, who told us of its history, its religion and its special places. We were only there four days but at the end we felt like members of their family. And they were all so cheerful! The haveli is an amazing 16th century house and our bedroom, with its stone carvings and sculpted niches, took us back all that time
There was nothing we didn’t like. The facilities were fine but the house is historic and the facilities had to fit within its architecture
So wonderful to stay in a five hundred year old building. The king room was very comfortable. The complimentary fort tour was great.
Hotel Suraj is great. Clean an comfortable room. Great breakfast and best hospitality will make you feel like home.
Bed was a bit short for a tall european
With 500 years of history, it has such a delicate walls and windows. I loved the view from my room too. Also the owner took me to a free tour in the fort, and explained about it.
The staff are incredibly hospitable and the property is delightful. It’s an amazing experience to stay within the fort in such a historic and well preserved house.
Fabulous ancient house, built into the fabric of the fort. Stunning stonework, some of it 500 years old. Huge room, quirky, as in having stone columns at the end of my bed, but very clean and comfortable too. Host was amazing, and full of interesting information about his family home from hundreds of years. Also about the town. Great breakfasts on the roof overlooking the Jain temples. Wished we could have stayed much longer. If you have the opportunity to stay here, do so!
We loved staying within the old fort. Our host was kind and attentive and his love and passion for his place of birth was great to see. He took us on a tour of the fort which was interesting and informative. Breakfast in the rooftop was very tasty and our room was a delightful piece of history.
Living within the walls of this stunning fort meant that there was late night and early morning noise from the locals. Absolutely to be expected.
Our 3 nights in the Junior Suite were just right for us == we liked both its size and its simple historic elegance. Shubham was an excellent host: always providing just the right amount of help when needed. Excellent English, always positive, professional, knowledgable, friendly, kind, with a sense of humour. He even helped us with our shopping and gave a very interesting tour. Breakfasts on the roof were great, as were Shubham's suggestions of restaurants for dinner in their own cook;s absence.
No romantic dinners available on the rooftop! The cook, Shubham's sister-in-law, was away in Jodhpur during our stay, having recently given birth to the beginning of the 19th generation of the family to live in this 500 year old haveli. Instead, we ate 2 nights at the Sun Set Palace restaurant, 2 minute walk, decent food and prices with a stunning sunset view.
Lovely room. Great location. Friendly, kind and helpful staff. Everyone loved their stay. They could not do more for us. Many thanks.
This hotel is the perfect stay, we could not fault a single thing. The check in process, our stay and even the care after our stay were all beyond what we have experienced elsewhere or have expected. The family are exceptionally kind and welcoming, and our stay here made the perfect end to our trip. Highly recommend!
Nothing - perfect stay.
We felt like we were staying in a living museum, a magnificent piece of history. Not only is this 499 year old haveli in almost original condition, but to hear the stories from Shubham really brought it to light. Shubham was one of the kindest people we have met during our 3 weeks in India, and he took us on a free 2-hour tour of the fort that was simply fascinating. We could have kept going for hours, it brought the whole fort to life. He is clearly passionate about Jaisalmer's rich heritage, keen to welcome visitors, and willing to share tales of the city with anyone interested. Our stay was truly memorable and we highly recommend.
Hotel Suraj is much more than a hotel and has been the most amazing place we have ever stayed on holiday. Shubham, his family and colleagues made us feel an extended part of the family and would constantly go out of their way to make our stay as easy and comfortable as possible. Their haveli, where we stayed, is a spectacular home with fabulous rooms. We would recommend anyone going to India to visit Jaisalmer and, if possible, to stay at Hotel Suraj. Our genuine thanks to all at Hotel Suraj for making our stay so wonderful.
There was nothing we didn't like about our stay at Hotel Suraj, other than that it had to end.
The hotel is amazing, some 500 years old and the room was fabulous, like sleeping in a museum! The family running the hotel were so friendly and really looked after us well, including a walking tour of the fort.
With no glass in the windows it was quite noisy, but that's true of many places in the city and so earplugs are essential!
Amazing room! We stayed in the king suite which blew our minds!! Amazing location in the fort. The highlight by far is the staff who run their family home as a guest house with incredible care and generosity.
Very friendly and hospitable family run hotel in an ancient haveli inside the Jaisalmer fort. The moment we arrived we felt at home. We also had very interesting conversations with the family as well as other guests staying at Hotel Suraj. The room we were staying in had an amazing view outside the fort over the city. We definitely recommend Hotel Suraj for a stay in Jaisalmer!
I LOVED this hotel. It's run by a family who actually lives on site. You can go across the street to have your meals on the rooftop they also own which is directly overlooking one of the 9 Jain temples in old town. Dinner is cooked by the mother and is the best food I've had in my entire trip. Everybody is so nice and kind. The son went out of his way to print my travel documents ahead of my flight. He helped with all the questions we had and offered a free guided tour of old town. You could tell this family cared about the history of their city. Really awesome. And the King room....Quite the experience to stay in this massive 500 year old space willed with columns and old flower paintings everywhere. Really wow!
Everything! Shubham and his family were the perfect hosts. Fascinating and historical building in the heart of Jaisalmer fort. Excellent home cooked food and free tour of the fort. Can’t recommend enough.
Nothing.
Staying at Hotel Suraj was honestly one of the best decisions I made during my trip to Jaisalmer. It felt like stepping back in time and becoming a Maharaja! The room was by far the most beautiful I have ever stayed in, with its stunning traditional architecture and authentic haveli charm. The hospitality was exceptional. The people here were sweet, and genuinely helpful. It felt more like staying in a home than a hotel, with personalized attention and a sense of warmth that made the experience unforgettable. If you’re looking for a place that offers a blend of history, beauty, and heartfelt hospitality, Hotel Suraj is a must stay!
Warm welcome of the family Beautiful luxury and prestigious place in the core of the fort, next to the Jain temples Clean, comfortable and extraordinary decorated rooms The place in itself could be a museum Very friendly, cheerful and helpful support of the family for shopping and transports
Absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Suraj, so much so that I booked a second night. The house only has 4 guest rooms and you can see a lot of the original decor and artwork - the house is from the 15th century. This is not a classic hotel but a true heritage stay and I loved it! I stayed at both the king's and the queen's room - I preferred the latter as it is so spacious and airy but both are stunning in their own right. The family at Suraj is incredibly attentive and will gladly show you around the fort. I felt safe and so well taken care of, important to me as a woman traveling on her own.
I am not a big breakfast person so I didn't mind but the breakfast is limited. I liked the Indian breakfast but can imagine some people may want something bigger or prefer options.
I loved the aesthetics of the heritage haveli. We had a great view. An entire section in the topmost floor was provided to us. The owners themselves manage the place. Extremely helpful with travel and shopping suggestions. Very caring in their services.
The toilet and bath were not very comfortable. Cramped in space. It was quite clean and hygienic however.
They were incredibly welcoming and friendly. Very helpful and the free tour of the fort was great and very informative. The room was great! Large and a phenomenal view over the city.... You can also access the roof for a 360 view... I can't imagine there being a better place to stay. They gave us local recommendations and were always asking how they could help us (another tea/coffee, more water? Etc). Thank you so much!
I wished I had booked longer and had more time to stay!
The family running the hotel were the most welcoming people! Friendly, helpful and always trying to make the best out of the experience. Staying at the haveli is a must, a truly lovely place to see the sunset and sunrise. And Indian breakfast was delicious!
The property is located inside the fort and it is a 500 year old house. The rooms are wide and have been kept their original look. The family managing the structure is kind and polite, always ready to help you with suggestions or booking services. Perfect stay in Jaisalmer!
Perfect accommodation Ideal location, right in the center of the old town. The room was large, very clean and we had everything we needed to stay. The service was top notch. We were given a tour of the old town, the tour was included in the room rate. Everyone was very friendly and answered all our questions that we had. We recommend staying at this hotel
I liked the decor I first saw in the pictures, and that's why I booked it. It does, however, look slightly different; the walls are dirty , and it's not due to their age. The room was very spacious. The owners are friendly.
The location; right on the walking/ motorbike path so you hear everything, as there are no proper windows( wooden shutters). Breakfast was super modest, and the coffee was instant. At this price any other place would offer a luscious buffet with other fringes. There is no proper spot to sit and enjoy your meal. Rooftop if not adjusted to hang outs .Basically, you pay here for the house's history and an old vibe. Nothing else. I also got quoted way too much for an airport taxi, which was almost triple to what Uber offers. For that money I would not do it again. But that's my personal opinion.
We loved everything about this gorgeous property. This was a birthday surprise and it did not disappoint. The Maharajah room was authentic and stunning. The family who own and operate the property are extremely thoughtful (they surprised my husband with a birthday cake 😍) and are wonderful custodians. They happily showed us around their home town which gave us a lovely insight into life within the fort.
We loved it.
The location and the service were great. The room (king room) was amazing, I think that I have never slept in such a beautiful place before.Very nice host who prepared delicious vegan breakfast and lunch, and provided very good tips for Jaisalmer.
-
A very unique and beautiful experience staying in one of the oldest Haveli’s within Jaisalmer Fort. The whole family make you feel so welcome and even gave us a really interesting tour of the fort. There is so much history within the building itself which is an amazing feeling. We stayed in the Kings room which is where the king would come to conduct his business. You can only imagine all the important decisions made in the room you’re sleeping in. Incredible.
Nothing it was very comfortable and hosts were fantastic.
Where to start...we liked every single moment we spent in this wonderful haveli located right in the middle of the Jailsamer old Fort. The family that owned the palace for generations and generations is kind and always ready to help and explain anything you might have questions about. Shubham took us on a long city tour out of courtesy, the best city tour I ever had!!!
Nothing!!
Absolutely beautiful Haveli within the old fort city. Beautifully appointed rooms with stunning views across Jaisalmer. Kind friendly family hosts who can assist with sunset desert tour and everything you may need for the perfect stay in Jaisalmer. Highly recommend. My favourite place in 3.5 weeks travel in India.
The history in this Haveli is incredible. You can see it wherever you go, in the carvings, in the steps polished by centuries of use. It is also great to see grandfather, father and now son in the building. The son, Shubham, took us on a personal guided tour of the fort, which was very interesting and informative. His passion for the family hotel and the fort as a whole is very real and it shows. Shubham's father is the ultimate host. He just could not do enough to make our stay a memorable one. In short, it is a lovely hotel and well worth visiting.
Great place, great people. Very helpful. You stay in a 500 year old family house which feels like a fairy tale.
Perhaps a bit more breakfast variation.
Tasty Indian breakfast. Hospitality of the owner and many good tips from his part. It's a family house and you really feel like a part of a family. Very nice people and the room was like for royalty.
Everything was great
500 year old Haveli in the heart of the Jaisalmer fort. The same family has lived there all these years. Haveli is incredibly beautiful, with frescoes, wood and stone carvings. Everything is clean, all the facilities are present. The shower is pretty good, being in a desert it's nice to take a few times a day. Service is super friendly, it feels like staying with a family, rather than at a hotel. Shubham gave a tour of Jaisalmer and shared the history of that beautiful city. I'll happily stay at Suraj again.
This place has an unique atmosphere and we truly loved our stay in this beautiful old haveli inside the fort. What made our stay unforgettable was the warm welcome from the family who also lived in the haveli. They were knowledgeable and could answer all our questions about India. We would definitely recommend this place and we hope to come back again. We had a morning walk in the fort together with Shubham and were told everything about the history of Jaisalmer. They also arranged a fantastic trip to the desert for us and as we didn’t want a camel ride we visited a desert village instead which was a great experience for us. This place truly is a gem 💎
Nothing
Highly recommended. The authenticity of the Haveli and the welcomeness of the family. The son Shubham gave us a great and informative walking tour of the fort. They arranged for us an overnight stay in the desert with camel ride.
Amazing heritage haveli, easily the best and most interesting room and establishment I’ve ever stayed in, both in India and anywhere else. It’s way, way, better than either the pictures or its two stars suggest. The family running it are amazing and it’s a cool and comfortable refuge from the searing desert heat. I can’t recommend it enough.
The fact that I can’t stay here forever.
The rooms are beautiful
Nothing
We had an amazing time at Hotel Suraj in Jaisalmer. The impressive 17th and 18th generation of the family who lives and has always been living at the haveli gave us a warm and relaxed welcome, so that we felt at home straight away. The room was spatious, clean and above all very charecteristic. Make sure to allow the family to tell you more about the history of the building and the fort / wider Jaisalmer too. Shubham knows everything there is to know about Jaisalmer! Definitely recommend and if we are ever back in town, we’ll stay here again.
Not applicable :)
Lovely family, very caring, helpful and made us feel so welcome. Arranged a late check out at short notice due to illness of my partner, and refused to accept any extra money. Also gave us a wonderful tour of the fort and helped arrange station pickup. Would recommend to anyone and hope to be back one day ourselves! The hotel itself has a homestay feel and you are staying in an old Haveli - so the rooms are individual and characterful. Ours had a lovely balcony and seating area, looking out over the fort and sunrise. Breakfast was fresh and available on the rooftop or in the room.
It's not typical hotel, it's heritage haveli. Local tour guides bring tour group to show this haveli and we were staying such a nice room! Owner take care of guests personally very well.
Nothing
Our rooms and the building as a whole were beautiful. We had a small but comfortable balcony overlooking the walls and the city below - perfect for sitting in the sun with a book during the day. We also had a private inner terrace to eat breakfast. Breakfast was simple (poha or upma) but the poha in particular was very flavoursome. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and if we needed anything Shubham was only a WhatsApp away. Shubham arranged a good value pickup from the train station who was there waiting for us despite the train arriving over an hour and a half late and with midnight approaching. Furnishings, bathroom etc. were basic but sufficient and overall for the cost it was extremely good value and a perfect place to have a few relaxing days. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hotel Suraj!
Beautiful historic building with character Amazing room filled with old school haveli charm and balcony bathed in sunshine throughout the day. The room has been updated in a way that is sympathetic to traditional haveli styling. Simply charming to stay and wake up in. Comfortable bed with heavy blanket to guard against the cool night Friendly host and family
Stunning architecture in this old heritage property, maintained within keeping. All rooms are different, mine was not as extravagant as the 3 others but I had my own terrace on last floor and small living room. Quiet and pleasant place. The owner and husband son Shubham are adorable, always ready for a chat and assistance, they made my stay very enjoyable.
Nothing
This was an amazing historic building to stay in with the best hospitality and beautiful views.
The room is full of characteristics, historic but with useful facilities, cultural decorations, living in an 500 years old Haveli is amazing
We loved the hotel building itself, it is a beautiful place to stay with so much history and detail. The views from the terraces are also great. The family were very friendly and helpful. They were accommodating in providing extra blankets, toilet rolls and water. As it was our anniversary they put up balloons and left rose petals which was unexpected and felt very special, thank you again for doing this. We took up the kind offer for a free walking tour which was fun and informative. The breakfast was also tasty.
Wonderful character hotel (500 years old)! Great hosts with lots of stories to tell about the house and fort. New and different breakfasts each day were fabulous. Great tips for sightseeing. Staying right in the fort meant some better access to areas inside the fort before other tourists arrived for the day. Nothing too much trouble for the hosts.
It was very cold being January -our room had no glass in the windows so it was very cold; hosts supplied extra blankets but I’d suggest asking for a room more internal to the house that may have windows with glass.
Friendly, accommodating staff, willing to help with a smile. The impeccable service and hospitality of your staff made our retreat most enjoyable. We were very impressed by the responsiveness of you and your staff from the planning stage till the end of our retreat. The best part of the suraj haveli is it inside the jaisalmer fort. And the service is the best service which I doubt any five star or seven star hotel can beat. The hotel was above expectation. Congrats! Food was good fresh and on time. .
Everything was the best
Fantastic experience to stay in an original heritage Havelli hotel runned by such a l lovely family! My room was very peculiar, combining modern comfort and ancient style. Shubham provaded a very interesting walk in the fort and was extremelly kind helping with all the information we nedeed, besides helping to book train and bus tickets..I with I could stay longer and I recommend to everyone.
Nothing
The property was an old heritage haveli. We got an experience to stay in the old haveli like a royal era. The owners of the property were very friendly and welcoming, they guided us in visiting the places around.
This was unexpectedly the best ever hotel stay that we had. It's actually a 500 year old Haveli inside the Golden Fort. The owner of the haveli is the 18th generational descendant of the kings counsel. They have created a homestay kind of a hotel, while they stay in the ground floor itself. Their behaviour and services are excellent. The owner itself can be more than a guide, if you talk to him for then ten minutes and knows more about the city than any other guides. He himself comes to recieve and drop you, even carries your luggage. From the roof of the haveli you can get a panoramic city view as well as best view of sunrise and sunset being the fourth highest point inside the fort. The number given in the hotel contact itself is his number.
There is nothing that I didn't like.
Lovely hotel with lovely people. Always there to help and tell you some more about the history of the place. Although the fort itself is quite busy, in the hotel itself it’s nice and calm.
Don’t expect to much luxery. The hotel is in a fort of few hundred years old. But everything works (even the hot shower)
Definitely most amazing stay we have ever stayed.
That i couldn't stayed there more days😅
If you're looking for an authentic stay in Jaisalmer this is the place! The room exceeded our expectations and the views from the balcony was amazing. The room was clean and fresh linen and towels were provided. The breakfast and dinner offered at the property were very tasty! Shubham and his family were so welcoming and made us feel like part of the family. We were taken on a tour of the fort and nearby areas, and they organised a camel safari in the desert for us - which was incredible. No request was too large, and we were even given a lift to the train station at 2am - thanks again! Would highly recommend this place if you're staying in Jaisalmer, couldn't have had a better time :) We will be back!
We couldn't stay longer :(
Our stay at Hotel Suraj was exceptional! The place has a 500 year old history and is being lived in by the 18th generation of the same family! The original charm and history of this place is not to be missed! We booked a Maharani suite and we were not disappointed. The suite and a bedroom, a living space and bathroom. The interior takes you back many years! The process was smooth from the booking to checkout. The room was beautiful, extremely clean and comfortable. The hotel stay includes a delicious breakfast and guided tour of the fort, which is a great deal at this price! Shubham took us for a walk around the fort. The walk was more interactive, informative and interesting. Shubham went above and beyond with helping us with our problems. We had a package coming from Jodhpur via a bus. As we were scheduled to drive to the desert camp, it was extremely important to pick up the package at the Air Force Chowk and he generously offered to help us to pick it up and kept it safe. I cannot thank him enough for his help. I'd highly recommend their homestay for anyone who is traveling to Jaisalmer and for any number of days.
We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely haveli inside the Jaisalmer fort. The hosts were very welcoming and took us even on an insightful guided walk through the fort and organized a romantic sunset dinner in the That desert. The home-made breakfast was amazing and the room had the charm of the ancient city while being clean and comfortable.
Nothing :)
The hotel is a building from the 15th century centrally located in the middle of the living fort. It is run by a family of super nice and welcoming people who are happy to meet whatever wish you might have. We stayed in the Maharaja's room and must say that we have never stayed in such a beautiful and well-preserved historic place before. Even staying in the room felt relaxing to us. The son of the owner runs architectural tours of Jaisalmer’s fort for guests, this is highly recommended as the guide is knowledgeable and enjoys what he does. In addition, the hotel offers a rooftop with a view over the Jain temples where breakfast (Indian or international) is served or where you can make yourself cosy. We recommend trying the Indian version, as it is delicious freshly prepared and different every day. On the day of our departure, we left late in the evening and the hotel offered us a guest room and arranged a tuk-tuk ride. The overall experience was outstanding as we have never experienced this combination of domestic hospitability, historical authenticity and a relaxing atmosphere.
Everything was excellent
All was perfect : location in a very beautiful haveli close to the fort, delecious fresh food, very nice host who will do all his possible to make your stay as perfect as possible, nice view at the rooftop and colfortable room
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Hotel Suraj. The personnel is most friendly and willing to help you in every kind of way. Furthermore, the stay in an old haveli truly added to the ambience and our experience of Jaisalmer and India. Also the food they serve is delicious including some authentic Rajasthani dishes.
I stayed here for three nights and it made my whole trip to Jaisalmer! The room (stay in the kings suite if you have the opportunity, it is bonkers!) Extremely friendly and helpful staff, and it doesn't get much more central than this. I was offered a complimentary, several hour guided tour around the fort and Jaisalmer as well, and they just went beyond what I expected.
The doves on the balcony makes a bit of a noise in the morning, but since the rest of the fort is quiet, clean and no traffic, it's not a big deal!
The fort. The place is terrible, I want to complain to booking.com: you should remove hotel Syrah
Dirty Shabby Owners have no idea re hospitality management Owner couldn’t care less
- Very nice, very old review - Incredibly nice and helpful staff - We were able to leave our things at the hotel during a trip to the dessert and even could take a shower, when we got back - Excellent food in the restaurant (located on the opposite site of the road)
How should we start this review... The haveli itself is magical. 500 years of history within its walls. We slept in the master bedroom which seems to be out of a movie. Incredible experience. Indian breakfast was super yummy too! But what made it unforgettable was Shubham. What a host! He took us and showed us the city, museums, views... He even took us with one of his friend at night! We talked a lot... about so many different topics... We shared and laughed. He really made us feel at home. Thank you for everything and take care man! PS Gokul, you have to raise your son's salary to at least TWO chapati. He earned it.
Nothing. All perfect!
What a lovely place! People are very friendly, reliable and attentive. Shubham spent a lot of time with me showing me around and explaining a lot of things to me. And it was all perfectly genuine and easy, as if I had been part of the family. They would see I had caught a cold and offer me ginger tee before I had even thought of asking. Plus the stunning room - in a centuries-old haveli, with arches and pillars, crumbling wall paintings and old wooden doors. Don't expect AC or picture-perfect renovations, but you will be rewarded by a memorable experience!
It's just behind the Jain temple in the heart of fort. Amazing location beautiful room . Subhash & his father was very hospitable & I recommend others to stay in hotel suraj.
