It was super cute and quaint!!! Location was perfect, nice and quiet too. Plus the old key and lock had me feeling like I stepped back in time!

No fan to help circulate air on hot days. The doorway in small so watch you head. My partner hit his head 3 times in 2 days.

Fantastic communication from the moment we booked, offering helpful tips for arrival and for places to eat. Beautiful room, well furnished and clean, great shower. Hallstatt is stunning and we relished the chance to explore late evening and early in the morning before the hoardes of day-trippers arrived. Literally everything in the town closes at 6pm apart from restaurants in hotels so if you haven't booked somewhere you'll struggle. Even in the one we had booked we felt that they were rushing us to eat so they could close.

I agree with other reviews that a fan would be a nice addition. I think if we'd stayed another night I'd have felt a bit claustrophobic but cannot fault the room or the hosts. Thank you.

Mind-blowing place, absolutely magnificent accommodation, excellent communication with the owners, this place is the best you can rent in Hallstatt. Make sure you have the ground floor apartment, and you're on for the surprise of your trip. The best place we've stayed in in our three weeks tour, it is hands down one of the most original and beautiful places you will ever see. It has to be seen to be believed. Expensive enough but worth every cent thanks to the memories you will bring back home.

The rooms were beautifully decorated, and the area around the property so pretty with flowers and the rushing stream. The location was great, and it was clean and quiet.

A fan would have been a good addition.

In dieser Unterkunft kann man herrschaftlich übernachten! Die Möbel sind wunderschön und das Badezimmer einzigartig- eine Kombination aus Luxus und Natur! Einfach nur traumhaft! Der eigene Garten der bei unserer Suite dabei war, war entzückend! Der Kontakt mit Frau Lea war sehr sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Auch wenn wir keinen persönlichen Kontakt hatten, war eine sofortige Kontaktaufnahme per Handy bei Fragen jederzeit möglich. Danke Ihnen! Gästepatscherl wären noch toll gewesen :)

Tucked into the mountainside, the apartment was just magical.

We found it hard to understand access. Would have liked to have been informed of the access to the village. Only Taxi can bring you into town.

Alles! Ein Traum zum bleiben. Rustikal aber doch modern und sehr komfortabel, wie schlafen in einem Museum. Es war ein reines Erlebnis und wir wollten am liebsten gar nicht mehr gehen.

Die Türrahmen sind sehr klein, somit kann man sich sehr leicht den Kopf stoßen wenn man größer als 1,60m ist. Man muss hier einfach etwas aufpassen, ich habe es beim ersten Mal nicht getan. (Menschen waren damals nun mal kleiner als heute;) ) Das schönste Fenster (direkt über dem Bach) wird leider etwas vom Fernsehschrank blockiert. Wir hätten auf den TV verzichtet und dafür lieber in dieser tollen Niesche mit offenen Fenster auf den Bach geschaut.

Sobald man die Rundbogentüre mit dem riesigen Kastenschloss-Schlüssel öffnet betritt man eine andere Welt. Die hunderte Jahre alte Wassermühle wurde mit Liebe zum Detail ausgestattet und ins 21. Jahrhundert versetzt, ohne das Flair vergangener Zeiten aus den Zimmern zu vertreiben. Man fühlt sich sofort wohl und vergisst für den Moment wo man ist.

It's a beautiful place in the heart of Hallstatt. The room and broader property was oozing with character, and had one of the coolest bathrooms we've seen. Perfectly embodied the town.

The room is fairly cozy but was perfectly fine for a night.

The staff was incredibly helpful with advice on helping to book a taxi and location and open dates and times for the town Doctor. The taxi showed one of two times so I had to frantically make it to my next transportation location by foot in the chilly rain. Not sure how to work the heat or air. Their instructions and helpful information of local recommended restaurants and mini grocery was well received!

About 20 steps which isn’t bad, until you have luggage. Some of their properties may not all have steps.

We loved everything about our stay in Living History. Our host was wonderful. The room was really unique, such a cozy and rustic atmosphere. It was also at a great location, at the heart of Haalstatt. We really hope we can visit again soon.

It’s in the most perfect location, just steps from the main square. The owner was so lovely and helpful with suggestions of things to do. The room is beautiful and we had the best sleep of our vacation there with the windows open. Loved it!

We stayed in the downstairs suite—which was very unique as the bathroom was built directly into the rock. Very different. Spacious. Super helpful hosts that were very accessible.

It was a holiday weekend so very crowded. It thinned out at night but our location on the bottom floor meant we had to close the curtains because a steady stream of people walked by. Didn’t bother us because we were out most of the day and at night all the day trippers were gone.

Charm, sound of running river through the windows, combination of old world authenticity and modern upgrades and tasteful and warm decor. Very comfy bed and well appointed kitchen. Bathroom was luxurious and modern with old world vibe.

Die Beschreibung der Unterkunft verheimlicht einem, dass es verboten ist mit dem Auto zur Unterkunft hinzufahren (es ist ein geschlossener Schranken ca. 1km vorher, irgendwo auf der Straße), und die nächste Parkmöglichkeit ca. 1km entfernt ist(wenn man Glück hat. Wir hatten leider keines weil der öffentliche Parkplatz bereits geschlossen war und wir somit noch weiter fahren mussten bis zum Nächsten). Wir haben die Nummer der Unterkunft angerufen aber da wurde nur gesagt, Ach, Sie haben das Shuttle (von dem ja auch nichts stand und wir somit nicht wussten dass es überhaupt eines gibt, geschweige denn die Fahrtzeiten) verpasst also müssen sie halt zu fuß gehen, mit samt allen Koffern, die man ein ordentliches Stück tragen muss weil der weg aus Steinen ist und man somit die Koffer nicht rollen kann. Gott sei Dank hat es nicht geregnet. Ich habe Fußprobleme und wenn wir gewusst hätten, dass man sein Gepäck über einen km schleppen muss(teilweise bergauf), wären wir nie in diese Unterkunft gegangen. Informieren Sie bitte ihre Gäste und schreiben sie die Wahrheit in die Beschreibung rein. Weitere Info die fehlt: es handelt sich um ein self check-in, also ist auch niemand dort der einem Helfen kann. Für 250€/Nacht hätte ich mir mehr Information erwartet. Schrecklicher Aufenthalt.

The accommodation was so charming, uniquely and beautifully designed. It was wonderfully secluded but still very accessible to town.

The spacious room exudes a welcoming ambiance from the interior to the door handle. The shower is also exceptionally pleasant. The ability to stay until the trip crowd visiting Hallstatt departed and spend time viewing the stunning view makes the stay well worth it. Additionally, I would like to express my gratitude to Lea for her prompt and professional assistance during my stay. The previous group who stayed before us broke the night table by the bed, and Lea promptly repaired it for us on the day we arrived. I am deeply appreciative of her efforts and extend my sincere thanks once again.

The establishment would have been even more appealing if the kitchen had been functional. While I acknowledge that it may serve as a means of preventing hair-related fires. The above is what I wish it had. The listing did truthfully state that it is not included and I knew about it.

It was undersold the ease of the location and the beauty of the property. The pictures didnt do it justice.

Розташування - відмінне. Прямо у центрі за собором. До озера пару хвилин. Поруч купа закладів та магазин продуктовий. Все чудово в цьому плані. Сам номер - видно що зроблений з гарних матеріалів, гарні меблі, постіль, всі прилади (чайник, кавоварка, сама кава) - все дороге. Навіть гігієнічні принади - дуже високої якості. Все високоякісне та явно не дешеве. З цікавого - є гайд по місцевості, рекомендації де поїсти і т.д. Трошки дивно, що це у папці (у вік технологій - я б краще зробила у вигляді презентації, але це суто моє побажання). Хазяїва дуже чемні. Дзвонили питали - чи ми заселилися і чи все добре. Після виїзду також побажали гарної дороги і т.д. Єдине що - інфо про те як отримати ключ надали не як обіцяли у час заїзду (хоча ми попереджали що будемо пізніше, нам було не критично), а після того, як я двічі перепитала десь ближче до 18 - як нам отримати ключ. В номері було достатньо тепло, хоча на вулиці свіжо. Є батареї, теплі ковдри - на випадок якби було холодно.

Є декілька моментів, які нам не сподобались. Перший і найважливійший. Я розумію, що це історична будівля і т.д. Але, як на мене, є критичні речі, які варто взяти до уваги. І, як мінімум, попереджати. Вихід у вбиральню та душ - прямо з кімнати. І двері - суто формальні. По суті - їх немає. Коли одна людина снаходиться у кімнаті, а друга - у вбиральні - чутно абсолютно ВСЕ, що ти робиш. Всі звуки, всі змивання. Абсолюнто все. Це дискомфотно як і людині, яка у вбиральні, так і тій - що у кімнаті. Бо це буквальн через 2 метри від ліжка без стіни та без дверей майже. Ми завішували рушниками ці "двері", щоб хоча б вийти з душа можна було не одразу на вид партнеру. Друге - кімната дуже дуже маленька. Вікно - є. Але у внутрішній двір, де немає нічого. Також був другий поверх у номері. Але не було драбини. Тобто по суті, ти не може на нього потрапити. Видно, що там стояло ще ліжко. Але дістатися туди не було змоги. Це дивно. Ще момент - заїзд був після 16:00, а виїзд в 10:00... Ну... Здається, це трошки перебір...

We liked everything: location, furnishings, the kindness of the host. They did a great job to arrange and take care of their property.

What a magical, stunning hotel suite! We used the easy self check in instructions upon arrival, and were beyond impressed with the suite. It was clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. It felt like absolute luxury. It is steps from the Hallstatt main square, but also very quite & private. I would 100% stay again and recommend to everyone! Thank you!

I liked everything, the owners really put an effort to create a unique atmosphere. Maintenance must be a challenge but they are doing a great job.

I did not find any -. Maybe the fireplace not working, but fire safety is not something to play with.

We loved the property, it was cozy, warm, well decorated and had everything we needed, as far as linens, towels, and even cozy robes to lounge in. It is located in the center of town, so walking distance to all points of interest, restaurants & shops. It truly was a tribute to history!

Everything about the property itself was perfect, but our overall experience was affected by how local shop owners treated visitors. It left a sour impression. At a nearby coffee shop, the worker was quite cheeky and openly mocked guests, which felt rude rather than funny. We also weren’t aware that none of the local restaurants opened until 10 a.m. Had we known, we would have planned to cook instead. Even the restaurant at the hotel wouldn’t allow us in before 10, despite other hotel guests already dining. Clear communication about this would have helped us plan our mornings better. The only challenge related to the property was reaching transportation. The host had communicated well with us until the morning of checkout, but then we didn’t hear back. We had arranged for the Hallstatt shuttle to pick us up and bring us back to our car, but after waiting twenty minutes with no update, we had to walk the full distance ourselves. Carrying three large suitcases and two backpacks along snowy sidewalks and cobblestone streets was difficult, especially when we later saw the shuttle driver stopped for a smoke break. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise lovely stay.

Lea was an amazing host - she was so communicative, offered great suggestions in the area, and was all around very helpful! The property itself was stunning, it’s an idyllic historic home off of the main street, with a creek running by - it feels like something out of the movies!

Very beautiful, unique kind of whimsical accommodation. It is in the center of Halstatt, just off the square, so not a lot of traffic. The hosts were helpful always answering in a timely manner.

There is a small river right outisde which can be loud with a lot of rain, but can work as white noise if you like that sort of thing. Maybe reception is not the best, because although there is a smart TV the screen freezed frequently whn trying to stream.

This place just oozes with charm, history and character. utterly idyllic. Lea did a great job of making sure we were well looked after. Love to come back again one day.

Estivemos hospedados em dezembro, de início achávamos que era um hotel, grande surpresa que eram apartamentos super charmosos, impecáveis , minha família ficou em 3 apartamentos. A proprietária foi muito simpática e deu todas informações, a abertura das portas foi um descoberta, recomendo essa estadia em Halstatt. Faz toda a diferença dormir lá, pois pudemos ver a cidade iluminada.

The mini fridge didn't seem to work properly and I was under the impression there was going to be snacks and drinks available in the room however there wasn't anything.

Location was in the centre and the property was beautiful decorated and felt very cosy. Very comfortable shower, bed and bed linen.

Only thing to add is a microwave.

The ambience was amazing. There aren’t many people walking around either since it‘s hidden away down a hidden, yet enchanting looking alley. It‘s clean, warm, and super cozy. The bed itself is incredibly comfortable and perfect for a cold winter’s day. Just watch your head, the doors are shorter than you’d expect!

The only negatives for me were the door lock was difficult to open from the inside. It was a wonderful old lock but hard to open. The hairdryer lacked power and blew cold air.

4pm check in is to late especially when there is nowhere to put your cases so we were walking round with our cases for hours in the rain.

Living history was one of the most fascinating, incredible places we've stayed in. Not only is Hallstatt a magical little town, our accomodation had incredible history, beautiful artefacts and an atmosphere steeped in the centuries gone by. You could almost imagine the many generations of people who lived and worked within these rooms - if only the walls could talk.

I think it was the time of year, but there were almost no restaurants or coffee shops open for breakfast before 10am, or for dinner after 5pm. Because we couldn't self cater and we weren't prepared, it was a little tricky - but it was only a few days, so we had early dinners. But visitors should be aware of this.

Unusual Property with great surroundings- stayed here for something different to do. Very quirky and beautiful.
