Art Deco 1930s Design

A cute little cabin, with a super comfy bed. Friendly staff. The additional fruit and cereal was a bonus.

No TV, but not really an issue, we just weren’t aware when booking.

The city, the apartment and the host Laurie are a perfect match! I already got nice messages before I arrived and a warm welcome when I was there. He showed me everything and we had a nice talk before I went out to discover this city. The apartment with its inventory was already a great appetizer for Napier. And in the evening I could go through the provided Art Deco books to get additional information about my discoveries. Everyone who likes to have a beautiful stay together with the historic background will be delighted!

Beautifully decorated in the Art Deco Style. Very friendly hosts. We are pleasantly surprised by the supply of a large fruit bowl & breakfast cereals.

Loved the bungalow 1930s design & collectibles for this era…interesting reading about the earthquake & rebuild of the town. Good wifi.

No tv or radio…being on my own was too quiet but was able to listen to podcasts & music. Pillows were rather lumpy & too soft however bed was comfortable.

We really enjoyed experiencing even more the Napier Art Deco style by staying in this appartment and enjoying all the wonderful elements there. Everything was made for us to be comfortable, with the bed being especially comfortable and even breakfast options provided. Finally, the place was easy to check in and check out from, we had very fluid communication with our wonderful host.

The room was lovely, The bed was nice and big, room was warm with the heat pump. Plenty of room, great shower, all the essentials in the kitchen. Laurie met us at the door and showed us what was there, a great host. There was fresh fruit, tea, coffee, assorted cereals. Place was done up like it was in the 30's. So if you want a tv, you're out of luck as they were not around then. We were not there to watch tv. It was a great place to come back to to sleep. We spent the rest of the time out and about.

Host was really friendly. It was private and had great coffee. Will definitely be returning when we are up that way. Awesome style, even though it's 1930s style, it still felt really modern. Lots of board games and activities for kids. Our dog was made welcome and he had a great time. Thanks heaps!

Such a lovely place! It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Loved all the antiques, stained glass windows and costumes - felt like you were stepping back in time.

Very tastefully decorated. Lots of fun and good quality bedding etc. location excellent with a dog and car. Easy and private.

Warm, comfortable, well equipped

The landlord is an elderly man and very kind. He prepared plenty of fresh fruit, and the room was great—absolutely excellent!

Large fruit bowl provided and also packets of cornflakes, snacks etc a very good selection.

優しい男性のホストでした。部屋の説明も丁寧にしてくれたので困ることがなかったです。快適に過ごすことができました！タウンからもそこまで遠くないし、めちゃくちゃ良いです。

唯一難しかったのがトイレですね。やり方を教えてもらったんですけど、自分でやると上手く流れなくて苦戦しました。でも何回か試せば流れるのでそこまでbig ploblemじゃないです。

Art Deco theme was beautiful. I loved that it was a quiet location but not too far from everything. We will hopefully be back sometime soon.

Laurie was such a warm and welcoming host. He went that extra mile to ensure we had fresh fruit and food in the fridge, for breakfast. Was such an interesting place to stay, with it's very unique art deco design!

Beautifully decorated with many fascinating items to marvel at and a great range of books to delve into. Clean and comfortable.

It was a really nice apartment to stay in, with a driveway to park in. The decor was very cool. We liked the ambiance and the patio, even though we were there for only a short time.

A short drive from the city, which was fine. So definitely not walking distance, if you were keen for a shorter stroll. Otherwise the location was great, on a quiet neighbourhood street.

What a memorable place to stay in. Laurie the host has done a great job renovating the house with the Art deco theme . The personal touches create a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. The cottage was spotless on arrival and well organized for guests. Laurie and his wife made us feel welcome during our stay They are friendly and courteous. The free fruit bowl and chocolates were a nice gesture. Authentic, genuine hospitality. The accommodation is located in a quiet suburb of Napier in a peaceful location. A perfect spot to rest. Art Deco Feature of the place, and art deco articles and books was great. Excellent equipped Kitchen, with great range of hot drink options and a bonus of a fruit bowl. Nice touch with the folded towels and chocolates. Shower with low flow monsoon shower head was nice. Didn't realise the place didn't have a TV. A smart TV would be a nice addition.

We loved this quirky art deco cottage. Beautifully fitted out. The host was very friendly and communication great.

Unfortunately a cyclone came through so we had to stay indoors for 24hrs and this cottage has no TV which would have been helpful.

We had a fabulous two night stay and loved the art deco themed accommodation. The apartment was so roomy, comfortable bed, kitchen, lounge, all beautifully decorated in art deco style. Laurie was a great host, and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was included and fresh fruit was supplied. We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay in Napier, only a short drive to the city and in a quiet neighbourhood.

The attention to detail and the kindness of the owner

Highly recommended! The location is convenient and the property is surprisingly quiet. Inside feels like a little museum — we loved the vintage photos and charming décor throughout. The host was welcoming and friendly. Would definitely stay again!

It had a nice interesting decor

Quirky and cosy property decorated in authentic art deco style. Very friendly host who showed us around and gave some background to the history of art deco in Napier. Well equipped apartment, clean and personal touches like fruit and cereal were very much appreciated. A bit too far out of the city to walk so we needed the car but apart from that the location was good. A very good local fishmonger serving fish and chips-either book ahead or be prepared to wait 45 minutes! Definitely recommend the Napier art deco trust’s walking tour for a good insight into the rebuilding after the earthquake in 1931.

Very enjoyable, highly recommend. The art deco design is great, gives the place a real homely feel. Super comfy bed in the bedroom. Complimentary fresh fruit was delightful and the mini chocolate. Everything is perfect. You feel instant warm welcoming from Laurie even before you done parking. The greeting fruits and chocolate are definitely a plus. The room layout, decorations especially the beddings are super comfortable. Please come and stay here if you are at Napier. Highly recommended. Hope to revisit some day:)

I loved all of it, couldn't fault it. The place was roomy, private, clean, cute and comfortable. Everything was provided and there were many extras such as fresh fruit, coffee, milk, chocolates and cereals. The owner went above and beyond by showing me the way when I got lost and was most helpful. The Art Deco style is very authentic and there was plenty of reading material available on local places of interest. It is truly a peaceful haven to visit and I thoroughly recommend it.

Beautiful 1930s Art Deco–style house. The owner was super nice and welcomed us with fresh fruit. The backyard snail vine smelled amazing, and they even gave us some seeds to take home. Would happily stay here again!

Very unique Art Deco style interior design. Not the type of place we would usually stay at, however, really enjoyed this place! Definetly worth the experience. And most of all our host was a very nice and welcoming person.

Took a moment to feel comfortable, a little bit like in a museum...however, as mentioned before, really appreciated it.

The host Laurie is brilliant. Full of information about the Art Deco. The accommodation definitely is in keeping and it's wonderful to see. And the bowl of fruit was yum 🙂

Excellente Ausstattung mit viel Liebe fürs Detail, geschmackvoll und großzügig, schöner Garten, alles vorhanden und noch viel mehr was man sich wünschen kann, Obstteller, Cereals , Butter, Marmelade, Kaffee, Tee, Milch..sehr bequeme Betten, unkomplizierter und sehr effizienter Check In, beste Unterkunft bisher zu absolut fairem Preis, sehr empfehlenswert !!!

Had a great stay here in Napier. The owner is very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Complimentary food and drinks were a really nice bonus. The place is spacious, comfortable, and in a good location. Our family spent a good and relaxing night there. Would definitely recommend staying here.

We had a lovely stay in this cute Art Deco studio. It is comfortable, well equipped and homely. Because it was New Years Day, the host generously provided fresh fruit, nibbles and even a bottle of the local Rose! Very spoilt.

Subtle but present religious and conservative vibe

Hi. This is a great art deco themed property. Fruit bowl on arrival was a lovely touch, plus other touches like the little bags of cereal and the spreads. The beds were very comfortable. It was very hot (30 degrees) so we appreciated the air con! Laurie was very friendly. Lay out was perfect for us, but just to let some know there isnt a door on the bedroom but the way it is designed is private. Great for families. Photos verr accurate

The unique style of the cabin is unmatchable. Think vintage when booking. Think I like history and style.

I couldn’t fault the accommodation — nothing had been overlooked. The owners have truly thought of everything, and the 1930s style is so beautifully authentic. I spent my birthday here and had lots of family popping in with presents, and we still felt completely at ease thanks to the privacy of the accommodation and its own lovely courtyard. They even welcomed our two Staffordshire terriers! We had a wonderful stay, and I’d recommend this place to absolutely anyone. However you would need a vehicle if you wanted to go into the city.

What a fun and quirky place to stay! It was a lot of fun looking at all the trinkets and design from a bygone era, admiring the art deci windows and reading the special newspaper edition with the photos of earthquake destruction. Tony the host is a hard case! Great place to stay in Napier 😊

Laurie est un hôte chaleureux et aux petits soins. Il a rendu ce bref séjour mémorable. Sa maison est un voyage temporel. Ça peut ne pas plaire à tout le monde mais nous avons adoré le temps d'une étape à Napier. Nous avons très bien dormi. Le petit déjeuner est généreux et frais.
