Barriemore Oban

The rooms are very comfortable, clean, and stocked with high-quality toiletries. The owners, Mark and Jan, are incredibly professional and welcoming. Although I initially booked a standard room, I was hoping for a view. Three days later, they reached out to let me know a room with a view had become available and offered it to me. Naturally, I accepted! It was a beautiful, spacious room with a spectacular view. Oban is gorgeous, and the Barriemore Hotel is wonderful.

The view was incredible and the location was quieter than other areas on the waterfront in Oban. Mark graciously kept our bags safe for the day after we checked out which allowed us to explore Dunollie Castle and the rest of the town, unencumbered.

Yet another Fabulous 4 night stay at the wonderful dog friendly accommodation at Barriemore, which is located at the far end of the Corran Esplanade in Oban. We found it peaceful with great views of the Island of Kerrera and the sea beyond. Our ground floor room, we would probably call it a suite, was spotlessly clean and kept that way during our stay, it had fabulous sea views and was very well appointed, with great facilities i.e. hair dryer, iron, binoculars if you have a sea view room, there’s even a small fridge to keep drinks and snacks cool in the warm weather and a decanter of sherry for a ‘welcome to Barriemore drink’. As this is an accommodation only venue, there are designated replenish facilities for tea, coffee milk etc. in a room with a microwave and fridge, which is adjacent to a lovely sunny conservatory for guests use. There is also a lovely terrace in front of of the accommodation with tables and cushions for the chairs to allow you to enjoy the sea views and beautiful sunsets, and there’s designated off road private car parking for all guests. The Barriemore is hosted superbly by Mark, Jan and their lovely Family, who provided great advice and recommendations about where to eat and drink locally, and also suggested places where we may like to visit during our stay. Highly Recommended 5* accommodation IMHO.

A very nice small hotel on the ocean. The sea view room we had was very comfortable, and we enjoyed sitting and watching the boat traffic. There is a salon on the main floor, with a microwave, ice, top ups for items in your room., and some menus for local restaurants. There are lots of good restaurants within an easy walking distance.

The position of the house, the views from the front and from our bedroom. The cleanliness. The hospitality of the owners. The comfort and atmosphere.

A really lovely place to stay. Gorgeous sea views. Beautifully clean and well organised rooms. Very responsive hosts. Free to use microwave and dining area for takeaways ( fish and chips, the best!) downstairs. Seating area with cushions and throws in front of the hotel to take in the views, and magnificent sunsets.

Barriemore is a fantastic property within easy walking distance to the centre of Oban. The views are spectacular . Everything was spotlessly clean with lots of extra little touches. All in all just making it a special place to stay.

Stayed at The Barriemore with my brother while visiting Oban for a few days. The service and experience was excellent. The room was maintained daily and was clean, tidy and peaceful. As was the rest of the hotel. Wi-Fi was also provided, as well as some treats in the room. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the town and a parking space was provided outside, so no need to worry about parking your car when you get there. The gentleman who owned the hotel was always friendly and helpful if we had a question. All in all I would give The Barriemore and their staff more stars if I could, and will be recommending them to friends and family. Thank you Barriemore and staff for our great stay in Oban.

Well located for the town as you can walk into the centre in 10 minutes. With no breakfast available, having a fridge and kettle in room, and bowls and spoons downstairs, makes it easy to do your own. With a spacious room, parking and very friendly owners, it's the ideal place to stay and we would stay there again if we revisited Oban.

Excellent rooms been in a lot of hotels much more expensive hotels not worth the money hosts couldn't do enough for us brilliant comon room and sun room if you need tea coffee sugar any other top ups they are available here 24/7 microwave there as well the rooms all have walk in showers which was good for us as my wife's disability was a pleasure to stay there mark was so helpful

A Gem! Very quiet, clean, house. On our vacation the beds and linens were the best we slept in. We had the self cater suite- the kitchen had plenty of kitchenware, pots, pans and a good fridge. Our view of the water was delightful and just out the door and across the street is a perfect place for sunset pictures. A little patio you could sit outside. It’s only a 5 min walk to the Oban Ferry - and it’s such a beautiful walk on the water. Don’t let the map fool you that you are far away from Oban center. And free parking for one car! Hosts responded to all questions. If in Oban again, we will book here. The Thompsons

Oban is beautiful and it makes such a difference to have had such a lovely hotel. The location was perfect with beautiful views and a lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy them from. Ideal for taking your own wine! Parking is a huge plus, a space for every guest. The hotel is room only but we prefer to walk before breakfast anyway and there's plenty of choice in the town and lovely coffee bags provided in the room. Our room was lovely with a side sea view and it's quiet at night whereas closer to the town can be noisy so it couldn't have been better. For the extra touches you get such as a fridge in your room, parking and the use of a communal room with a freezer for ice packs it's really good value. Owner Mark was around in the mornings and was friendly without being intrusive so thank you again, we had a lovely time and would definitely stay again.

Wow! A perfect, quiet location with the most stunning views. Our room was excellent and immaculately clean. We really appreciated all the Scottish touches - Irn Bru and Tunnocks tea cakes were lovely! Tea, coffee, water, sherry and local soaps in the bathroom….what more could we ask for? Missing the view already!

We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at the Barriemore. We arrived around lunch time and parked in the car park and saw Mark who said that was fine to park there but that we could check in there and then as the room was ready. We did not have a sea facing room as they were all booked when we reserved this but our room was spacious and we had a lovely bathroom. The location was great right at the end of the Esplanade and such a lovely walk in and out to town by the sea. It was very peaceful and had a lovely terrace which we relaxed on each night after we returned from dinner. Mark was very friendly, always keen to hear what we had been up to and always happy to offer advice or recommendations. We would book this accommodation again if we were in Oban.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Barriemore b&b. Different room each time but still a wonderful stay. We were in room 5 (we called it the green room). Clean, tidy, efficient service from the hosts when needed and in a lovely location on the seafront, tucked away from the hustle of the main town. Worth the price everytime.

We had a lovely relaxing stay at the Barriemore Hotel. Situated in a quiet area of Oban. Just a five minute walk from the town. With lovly veiws over the bay. The room was lovely and clean and the bonus was it was dog friendly. Mark was extremely helpful. We will definitely be back and highley recommended staying here.

Was the loveliest stay in Oban!! My daughter and I have stayed elsewhere in the area, but this apartment was by far a more quiet, comfortable, and peaceful area. The view is stunning! The beds were comfortable! And it was exceptionally quiet and peaceful. Jan was a welcoming hostess. She was very helpful with check-in and check out. Even calling a taxi for us. And Mark was very helpful with items we did not understand how to work, such as the heater and the windows. And both of them were very friendly! We look forward to our next time in Oban staying at this wonderfully cozy abode!

I cannot recommend Barriemore highly enough, rooms are large and airie, they are very clean and the location is perfect. Mark and Jan are fantastic hosts and will do their utmost to help in making your stay excellent, even though they do not do cooking they will recommend places to go, we have stayed here twice and will definitely stay again

We had a 4 night stay at Barriemore and were not disappointed. We had a spacious well equipped ground floor room with magnificent sea views. The room was decorated to a high standard, and very clean and comfortable. The quality of the tea and coffee provided in the room was much better than most we have stayed in with top ups available in an excellently equipped communal area . Nice little touches included a carafe of sherry on arrival which was replenished midway through our stay, and a pair of binoculars to view the constant coming and going of seafarers! We consider our stay to be excellent value for money and look forward to returning next year.

We have just returned home after a fantastic stay at The Barriemore. It was a nice welcome & touch when we arrived that there was Sherry & biscuits and plenty of Tea, Coffee & Milk. The hosts are very welcoming & friendly, giving helpful information regarding places to go and also places to eat. The hotel is situated on The Esplanade with stunning views across the water. Rooms are immaculate and beautifully decorated. Bed was really comfortable as was the pillows. We just wish we had booked this sooner so we could have stayed longer.

The room had a wonderful view of the Oban Bay and the Islands. Had a wonderful old-world charm to it. My wife and I enjoyed sitting by the window watching the ships go by in the bay and the people walking by on the sidewalk. It was very relaxing to go back to the room after a long day traveling and touring castles and other sites. The location was excellent as it was near the end of the line of buildings along the bay, so it did not get too much traffic but was also within walking distance to restaurants and the town.

The location was amazing, on the sea front, a few minutes from Dunollie Castle, a 15 minute walk from the town centre and ferry port. The views from our sea view room were spectacular. Our bed was very comfortable, which really ticked the box. The room was spacious, clean light and airy. Mark & Jan the owners were extremely helpful, and supplied us with lots of helpful local information, including the best restaurants for seafood!

This place was amazing. The room was incredible. The hospitality was wonderful. I will always stay there when I go to oban. Truly exceptional.

We had a lovely big room, very clean and modern. The hotel is on the edge of town on the seafront with beautiful views and private parking. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the town center along the seafront. It's à very peaceful hotel. The floorboards are a bit noisy. There are tea and coffee and Scottish biscuits on arrival. We had a lovely stay.

Our stay at The Barriemore Hotel was excellent with amazing hosts in Jam & Mark nothing is too much always there to help.

I liked that the property was close to downtown. The room was nicely decorated. The seating area on the front porch was great to view the water.

The bed was not comfortable. The middle of the bed had a raised area which was very uncomfortable to lie on..

The tankless water heater for the shower was too weak in water supply.

Location, excellent. Walk to the city centre. Room, spacious, clean, large comfortable bed, shower only in our room. Blackout curtains which are important in June. Fridge, coffee, tea etc. Parking right out front. We stayed in room 5, top floor, 40 step staircase, rooms 4,6 and 7 top floor. If you’re not fit, book rooms A,B or C on the ground floor. Wifi on the slow side so don’t expect to work from this hotel. No plug other than for a shaver in the bathroom.

Immaculately clean, well thought out, stunning view and the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in. Lovely little details like the binoculars and a can of iron bru. I could have sat in the window all day just watching the boats.

A 5 min walk from Oban town centre, great location with views out over the water. We took our dog so space to walk him safely as well as some little green spaces to explore. Great location. Room was a good size, clean with a very comfortable bed. Welcomed by Mark, and whilst we didn’t need anything, we knew anything we did need would have been accommodated. Oban is a very friend wonderful little town, central to explore the area. Will be back and would recommend the Barriemore as a great place to stay.

We were only in town one day but the room was a lovely and comfortable stop-over. We stayed in room 7. A beautiful room with an amazing view. Mark was kind and responsive to our inquiries. We would absolutely stay at the Barriemore Oban again.

It’s a great location, a 20 min pretty walk to the ferry if you’re headed to Mull, 5-10 min to restaurants. Beautiful building with a great view (recommend the sea view — it’s really stunning). The room I booked was huge and beautiful, nice bathroom, lots of little touches from the owners who are very kind, friendly, and responsive people.

My only complaint is the bed — it’s huge but the mattress needs a change. It had two huge indentations, the springs/foam are *gone*. I was so tired each day that I could sleep but I had to do a bit of yoga to undo that mattress’s effect on my back. If you have back issues at all, that would probably really do a number on you.

What a breath of fresh air to find the guest house Barrymore in Oban. An incredibly relaxing and beautiful environment in which to stay. The 5 star reviews say everything. We were surprised at how many good restaurants there are in in Oban. The (Reviews summary) is accurate in its praise for the property and the owners, Mark and Jan who are dedicated to keeping the property in excellent condition, and making our stay so memorable. Again, one of the most relaxing 3 day breaks we have experienced. Yes we will return to this lovely guest house.

Location was perfect & views that can not be bettered. Staff/owner super helpful & friendly Loved dogs!! Spotlessly clean- as if the room had been just decorated! Sherry was such a lovely touch. Beds super comfy & very spacious room. Great bathroom facilities & powerful shower. Seriously one of the best properties we have stayed at!

We had awesome stay at Barriemore once again. Mark made us feel very welcome. The property is quiet, centrally located and extremely well maintained. The extra added coffee and pastries were exceptional. I would highly recommend it.
