Altavona House

Beautifully decorated. The bed was extra comfortable and the pillows were as well. The shower was great with good pressure and temperature. I love the little cookies in the room along with plenty of tea and coffee all day long. It is an amazing historic hotel. The staff were super friendly and the communication was top notch. Simple breakfast available delivered right at your door. The presentation for breakfast was also very adorable and well thought out and designed.

Only downfall was I couldn’t figure out how to switch the Reign showerhead to the handle. However, that was probably user error.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und haben uns in dem neu renovierten Zimmer sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist alles mit sehr viel Liebe eingerichtet, Danke dafür :-) Die Lage ist super, man kommt fussläufig bequem zur City , wo man viele Restaurants und Geschäfte vorfindet. Parkplatz direkt vor der Unterkunft war natürlich auch perfekt .

The room decor is outstanding. The bathroom is beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

There is no AC or mini fridge - seems to be common in Scotland. The room was rather warm overnight.

Le fait qu’il n y ait pas de salle de repos hors de la chambre . Il manque des équipements tel un fauteuil ou une chaise , un porte manteau dans la salle de bain ou la chambre . Et la vue de la chambre ds laquelle je me trouvais donne sur mur très proche ( même si je suis consciente que je n’a ais pas une chambre vue mer ) . Enfin il semble que l’hôtel soit assez récent mais la gestion de la communication est à revoir . J’ai voulu prendre une nuit supplémentaire par facilité mais je n’ai pas reçu de réponse ( difficultés rencontrées déjà lors de la première réservation. )donc j ai réservé ailleurs .

The location is breath taking. Views of the bay from the large windows, ferries and boats going by constantly. You can see islands in the distance. The breakfast tray option is great. It arrived as promised and was perfect! The room is decorated in a very beautiful color scheme.

The main bed was a little uncomfortable, seemed to be a valley in the middle. For the price, I would have expected a little more.

Location was great, but there's plenty of similar accommodation to be had nearby.

Room #2 is a bit of a disaster in terms of noise. The staff warned us that we might hear people coming down in the morning for an early tour, and that they ask people upstaris to be quiet if leaving early. This did not happen. Room #2 is across from the reception and about two yards away from the coffee machine. Yes, people do use the coffee machine at 3 AM, as we can attest. All in all, it's probably a good place to stay if you're not in room #2 but on a higher floor. Promised refrigerator nowhere to be found in the tiny room. They 'forgot' to amend the description.

Staff were welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed our breakfast that was delivered to the room.

We only stayed one night at the last minute, it was clean & comfortable and would stay again if we needed a place in Oban.

Location was great, view from the room excellent. Room & bathroom were decorated beautifully & bed was really comfortable. Staff was excellent & dealt with a little problem with tv efficiently. Also breakfast was a good value for money.

Being on a second floor without lift was a bit of a problem due to our big suitcases. Room was quite small. Also, as beautifully decorated bathroom it was not functional as there was nowhere to put our toiletries or a hook to hang a towel. Obviously its target market is overnight visitors, not quite convenient for travellers with bigger suitcases.

Die Aussicht vom Zimmer ist grandios. Das Haus ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und man fühlt sich wohl. Fenster lassen sich nachts öffnen, da ruhige Lage. Oban ist in Gehdistanz erreichbar.

Etwas ringhörig, aber das ist in älteren Häusern so. Kein Grund für Kritik. Das Bad ist etwas altmodisch, aber alles vorhanden und funktioniert einwandfrei.

Top notch! Great location, decor, amenities and staff! Alltavona House is a 5-10 minute easy walk to Oban center. It is waterfront so has expansive views of Oban bay. The check in process is easy and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated the high comfort of rooms and toiletry products supplied (including hair conditioner!). This was a repeat stay for us and I would not hesitate to stay again. We did stay in a water view room which was an added bonus to our stay.

Location and Oban was a lovely harbour.

Room was small, bathroom was cold. Bike storage was in their kitchen, but they were put outside in morning and not locked as we didn't know where they were. Self checkin worked for us, but didn't feel welcoming. When we left later, two parties were outside & could not get in & noone answered door bell. I helped them as we had a staff mobile contact as had already checked in. It was not value for money.

Parking available but insufficient spaces leading to inconvenience. Hosts were fine, but not welcoming & check-in instructions were not well communicated. Also, we were not informed about stairs—2 steep, full flights with curves—we elected to not bring our suitcases up to the room because of this, forcing us to leave them in the car (not ideal!).

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Alltavona House. Great location within walking distance to the city center. Our family stayed in 2 different rooms. The beds were comfy, rooms were clean, and the owner Carol, made us feel at home. We just wish we could have stayed longer.

Wunderschöne, fantasievolle und detailverliebte Zimmer! Das ganze Haus is liebevoll dekoriert und unglaublich gemütlich. Die Betten waren herrlich und Carol war eine herzliche Gastgeberin. Das Frühstücksbuffet war fantastisch und alles war absolut lecker. Die Lage ist perfekt, direkt am Meer mit grosdartiger Aussicht.

Cudowny pokój ze wspaniałym widokiem! Przedłużyłyśmy od razu nasz pobyt. I to wygodne łóżko! Carol jest ogromnie uprzejma i miła. Hotel blisko centrum, a jednocześnie w spokojnej dzielnicy. Na pewno wrócę ♥️

It was in a great location.

The self check in system did not work well which was extremely frustrating. Did not like having no staff on premises (just next door), and individual outside door locks on each room so it felt like an apartment building. Noisy neighboring rooms.

Lovely place in ideal location - a few minutes walk from town but with easy parking nearby. Decor very appealing and welcoming.

Cosy room in a very quaint B&B. Interesting decor. Our room for 2 nights and bed was very comfortable, not sure all rooms the same. Had a lovely bath. We didn't do the breakfast but it looked good. Good location for Oban, a short walk from the busy town.

This was my special Birthday holiday We booked Alltavona we had not stayed in Oban before. We arrived at the beautiful property and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The hosts were amazing, friendly and also gave us great advise with regards to everything we could do in the area. We had the rear Cabin very spacious a little home from home, recomend it. Thank you so much. We loved it !!!

Best buffet breakfast I've ever had in the UK. Great selection of breads, meat, cheeses and fruit. Hot breakfast looked very nice too. Nice bedroom with big quirky bathroom. Great staff (Carol) - as helpful as you could get.

Beautifully decorated, charming guest house with everything you need! The breakfast was expansive and lovely. We walked to dinner in downtown and enjoyed the views. Perfect location.

Nice clean property, within walking distance of Oban restaurants, pubs and attractions.

The view was spectacular, and it was conveniently close to town without being too close to feel the crowds. The continental breakfast was delicious, offering lots of variety. The room was very spacious, and had lounging chairs in front of the bay window to maximise enjoying the view. They unexpectedly serviced the room on the second day which was a nice surprise.

A few little things, like a coffee machine was advertised in the room facilities but it was instead a kettle. There was only a single small rail for all the two towls and two hand towls - an extra hook here or there would have been appreciated as the towls were all bunched/piled on the little rail. The breakfast was advertised online as being £10 per person but when we arrived were informed it was £15. There was double paperwork to fill out - we had to fill in pre-arrival forms both online and in person asking for the same details. Lastly, we were a bit uncomfortable by one staff member who appeared totally overwhelmed one morning when we asked for a breakfast last minute. As it was a continental buffet breakfast we thought we would just ask if it is possible and then wait for the other guests to finish so that they would get first choice, but stressed that it was totally ok if they couldn't accommodate us at such short notice. She was kind enough to agree, but she kept entering the breakfast room sighing loudly and speaking under her breath about how stressed she was and how she was about to 'abandon ship'. At one stage she even bent over a table with her face in her arms and looked like she was about to cry. We felt awful. We knew we were taking a chance in changing plans last minute and we tried to show our appreciation. However, since everything besides the coffee was already prepared, and we were still within the allocated breakfast times, it was very awkward. All in all, it was a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Absolutely delightful! Such a gorgeous and cosy room, lovely hospitality and close to the town. We felt so welcome. Next time we’ll stay longer!

It's nice and cosy with free parking.

The room I got this time was slightly too cramped, and I had to turn off the mini fridge as it was too noisy. The doors did nothing to filter out other guests walking through.

The breakfast was good and varied. The hotel was old with interesting decor. The bathroom was big.

The twin room I was in smelled musty.

unfortunately we did have no good sleep, the metal bed was creak constantly with every move, the mattress was very soft what didn't help. could you please fix it? - room 2 the breakfast price has been increased on day arrival, we understand the reason, but the page should be updated.

Room was extremely small and only had a very small window with view to sea. We had stayed here a few times before in double room with very large bay window, or large flat windows. The room we had this time (on second floor) was about half the size, with small window, yet was the same price as the other double rooms.

On arrival we were struggling with the key box and the (presumed) owner came out to help us. His demeanour was neutral at best, although he was quite friendly during the rest of the stay. When we saw the room we were really disappointed at the size and the facilities (coffee maker squeezed into a dark corner behind the coat hangers, broken showerhead). Going by the photos and because we had paid for an upgraded room, we had expected two armchairs. When we rang the bell to complain no-one appeared and when we phoned there was no answer to the two messages we left. The following day, on our return the lady of the house asked if the 'room was OK now'. Strange behaviour. The breakfast was outstanding and well worth the extra £10 each.

The place is right next to the water - unobstructed view. The 0.7 mile walk to center of Oban was nice in good weather but we got wet several time (expected this for October). Public transportation was hard to find so needed our car. Our room was a little small and cramped, but we could see other larger rooms. Check in and parking was a bit of a hassle. Great “Continental breakfast “ that included meats, cheeses, baked goods and more- well worth the modest cost

The accommodation was very unique and had a great water view from our room. The walk to the town center was just 15 minutes and very pleasant. Staff was super friendly and offered breakfast. The car park is small but there is plenty of street parking which is free at night after 8pm.

Very nice location a bit out of town but definitely walking distance! Super clean and comfortable. Large bathroom! There are some great walks behind the house to the castle. Carol was very welcoming and check in was a breeze!

I liked everything! Carol asked if I would like a “continental breakfast” for the morning, in my mind this is a scone and a cup of coffee for 10 pounds, so I declined. The next morning, as I was heading out for a walk, I peaked into the cute dining room and saw folks enjoying quite a spread of meats, cheeses, breads, fruits and real breakfast! Then I wished I had said yes! Carol, maybe put up a picture on the door of the dining room, of all that you offer for your continental breakfast, because, seeing is believing! Wow very generous!

The room is very tastefully furnished with a comfortable bed . It is set in a beautiful historic home right on the waterfront in Oban. It is an easy work along the waterfront into the Oban shopping district.

We found it was well located to the town. Everyone was really friendly and rooms were very nice.

It was a bit tricky to negotiate cars blocking other cars in, but they handle it pretty well. We didn't have the breakfast as that was an extra charge
