We had such a lovely stay at Jaana Guest, the rooms were clean and comfortable but what makes this place so special is the wonderful family who run it. We felt so welcomed by everyone. We were shown how to cook a traditional Sri Lankan dinner and then went on a day trip to the Polonnaruwa ruins and safari with the owners which was great value and so much fun. We were so sad to leave!

Jaana e la sua famiglia sono stati fantastici. Qualsiasi cosa serva sono disponibilissimi a fornirla. Abbiamo passato 3 notti con loro. La stanza è separata dalla loro abitazione, con patio privato dove servono la colazione (abbondante) e i pasti su richiesta ( deliziosi). Ci hanno accompagnato alla Lion Rock alle 5 di mattina e il giorno seguente abbiamo fatto con loro il safari a Minneriya e la visita al sito archeologico di Plonnaruwa ad un prezzo più che competitivo. La miglior esperienza in Sri Lanka.

Nous avons passé un super séjour à Jaana Guest, la famille était vraiment très gentille et accueillante, on s’y est senti très bien. Les petits déjeuners et les dîners cuisinés par la mère étaient excellents ! Ils peuvent tout organiser depuis l’hôtel (safari, transport, taxi…) et sont de bon conseils. La maison est bien située, non loin du rocher de Sigiriya et légèrement à l’écart de la ville, entourée de la nature.

Eigen vertrek, met veel ruimte en balkon! Mooie tuin! Behulpzame familie die heerlijk kan koken.

Geen airco aanwezig, was te doen voor paar dagen.

The place is absolutely incredible ! We are extremely grateful for the welcome of this family. The breakfast was delicious. The room was spacious and very soothing. All the family was very kind and helpfull ! In addition, Tharu gave us an incredible tour of Minneria National Park. His professionalism, respect and passion touched us a lot. He didn't just show us the elephants, he took the time to go around the park and show us all the other animals visible from the park and gave a lot of informations. Local accomodation, the family is very welcoming in all aspects, they organized safari to Mineriya and transfer to Kandy by car at very competitive rates, food was totally homecooked and very tasty and the room was big and clean. garden was so nice. would totally recomend it to visit Siguiriya lion rock and Mineriya national park. many good restaurants in the area, within walking distance. very quiet area in the forest.

if you go in summer, the non AC room can be hot at night. It's not a thing about the accomodation, just be careful if you walk outside the house in the dark, elephants can be around!

Cette famille adorable nous a accueilli avec une telle gentillesse que ça a marqué notre séjour au Sri Lanka. Ce sont des personnes gentilles et extrêmement généreuses. Nous avons appris à cuisiner le rice and curry et ils nous ont emmené visiter Sigiriya, la charmante était très belle avec un balcon et très grande également. Je recommande les yeux fermés merci !

Eine super nette Familie! Wir haben bei ihr das beste Frühstück und Abendessen bekommen – alles war frisch und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Der Sohn der Familie organisiert Safaris, die man direkt vor Ort bei ihm buchen kann. Wir haben das gemacht und es war einfach super! Absolute Empfehlung😊

Wir hatten zwei Zimmer gebucht: Das Zimmer an der Straße war leider nicht so gut (feuchte Betten und unangenehmer Geruch). Das Zimmer im hinteren Bereich war hingegen neu, sauber und wirklich gut. Hätten wir beide Zimmer vom hinteren Bereich bekommen, würde ich mit einer 10 bewerten.

One of our favorite homestays in Sri Lanka! The family was very nice and made such a delicious dinner and breakfast. The pancakes were the best we had on our travels! The location was a bit further out, which we loved, but there were still some restaurants within walking distance.

The room is spacious and has everything you need. The airconditioning works perfectly. However, what makes your stay unforgetable is the lovely family. They make you feel like home from the beginning. And the food is absolutely delicious. The breakfast is huge and differs every day. But nothing compared to the dinner: we ate three times because it was so good and the woman cooked 18 different curries for us! All absolutely delicious!

De locatie was helemaal prima, midden in de natuur. Er zitten apen en veel vogels in de bomen. De gastvrouw en gastheer waren bijzonder vriendelijk en ook het ontbijt was goed. De WIFI werkte goed en ook de douches gaven warm water.

Door het vochtige klimaat is het moeilijk om de kussens en matrassen fris en droog te houden. Let op met boeken dat niet alle kamers airco hebben!

Struttura famigliare molto vicina a Sigirya Rock, camera accogliente, colazione ottima e abbondante. La bellezza del giardino e l'accoglienza della famiglia di Jaana ti fanno godere di un soggiorno speciale. La cena preparata della moglie è ottima e ad un prezzo ragionevole. I servizi di accompagnamento di Tharu (il figlio) sono stati fondamentali per conoscere bene la cittadina e i dintorni.

Peccato che il ventilatore non sia sufficiente a rinfrescare un minimo la stanza.

Excellent accueil par Jaana et sa famille. La cuisine est très bonne et variée. Notre chambre était grande avec une belle terrasse dans le jardin. Nous avons fait un safari avec le fils de Jaana et nous avons beaucoup apprécié.

La guest house est un peu éloignée du centre. Il n'y a pas d'eau chaude.

La habitación era muy espaciosa, la cama cómoda y estaba todo muy limpio. El desayuno es delicioso y la familia encantadora. Completamente recomendable!!! 10/10⭐️

We had an amazing stay at Jaana Guest, the whole family were really welcoming, helpful and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious and we loved helping to cook on one of the nights. We saw so much beautiful wildlife from our porch in the garden.

La habitación es muy amplia y bonita, tiene terraza y el baño está muy bien. El personal es muy simpático y agradable, llegamos tarde para la cena y aún así nos pusieron algo de comida. Muy recomendable

Heel vriendelijke mensen, konden goed Engels. Hebben mee mogen koken, eten was algemeen heeel lekker! Hebben maaltijden aangepast op allergie vraag (gluten)

Eten is aan de duurdere kant, maar het wel waard!

Eine unfassbar freundliche und herzliche Familie. Wir wurden so nett empfangen und verabschiedet, immer mit einem breiten Grinsen im Gesicht. Das Essen war hervorragend und wir durften sogar an einem Abend beim Kochen helfen und haben dann noch mit der Gastgeberfamilie Karten gespielt. Die Unterkunft selbst liegt wunderschön im Grünen und man sieht die Früchte wachsen, die am Abend ins Essen kommen. Sind wir mal wieder in der Nähe kommen wir auf jeden Fall wieder zurück.

The best and loving family of our trip in Sri Lanka. We enjoyed the stay, breakfast and a couple of times a delicious diner and would definitely stay here again. The family is superfriendly (daughter joined us to the hospital to help us out). Thanks for having us and good luck with your exams and study!

A dream accommodation in the middle of a garden, a delicious breakfast (both traditional and western), the first place with hot water after a week in SL, warm and smiling people. We also received help to organize a safari in Minneriya Park. In short, an involved family! Thank you!

The family as a whole made us feel very welcome and were extremely helpful when booking different activities around Sigirya. On top of that, the home cooked meals were some of the best we’ve had since we started travelling.

The bed was comfortable but the windows had no cover so insects where inside the room if ur not afraid of insects you’ll enjoy the stay

Clean, spacious room and a beautiful garden where you can spot squirrels, monkeys and birds. The staff were so kind and went out of their way to make our stay even more special. Breakfast and dinner were exquisite and great portions.

There was a smell like damp in the room. We had to open our door occasionally to ventilate the room, but we still could not get rid of the smell.

Great hosts, kind and welcoming! The room was large, super clean, comfortable beds, great and large breakfast. We were with a 6-year old and a 2-year old kids, and the hosts treated them so nice, spoiled them with sweet pancakes and fruits at the breakfast.

The younger daughter helps run the guest house and she was super helpful, chatty and friendly😊 Brought us a lovely cold drink on arrival. Poppy the dog was also super cool!

Our WiFi wasn’t very strong but wasn’t to much of a problem.

We had a great stay here. The environment around the room was absolutely stunning and our room was comfortable.

The staff was great but not very present within our stay. Unfortunately our room had only one problem which was the fact that our windows didn’t close letting all the mosquitoes in.

It is a property run by a nice family. They were really welcoming. We were thoroughly taken care of. Thru, the son even took us for a safari in his Jeep for a reasonable price. If we ever come back to Sigiriya, we will definitely stay here again.

The good shower can be more better.

Amazing room, clean and a nice (warm) shower! The bed was big and comfortable. No AC but the large ceiling fan made it quite chilly at night. The family is super lovely and we did the Safari tour with them. Good experience and would recommend everyone to stay here!

Might be a bit hard to reach without your own vehicle (especially at night), but taxis are around and I bet the owners will help you out with this!

The most enjoyable homestay ever (and we had some other very nice ones in Sri Lanka and Cuba). A positive atmosphere and extremely nice hosts: friendly and helpfull. They also took care of transport. The location is good; we stayed here as homebase to visit the Sigiryia Rock, Dambulla and Polonnaruwa. Excellent food - tasty, healthy and affordable. So far unsurpassed at the island, not in homestays nor in restaurants. We booked the "family room", which was very spacey.

Amazing hospitality and lovely peaceful location. Was great to walk into the town daily and walk back. Food was delicious, there isn’t anything to fault about Jaana Guest. Highly recommend!

Hosts were a lovely family! Great breakfast in the mornings! The room was what we expected basic but all we needed! Tharu the son took us on an amazing safari for a great price, we were so lucky to see 50+ elephants including many baby’s, all because of his knowledge of the park!

We had the most lovely 3 nights at Jaana Guest. Jaana and his wife were so welcoming and kind, they made delicious breakfast and dinner for us everyday. The room was so spacious, comfortable and clean and we had a lovely porch outside with a little table where we would eat. Location is lovely and quiet and an easy short tuk tuk ride or 30 minute walk into town which is a lovely walk to! Their son did the best elephant safari for us also so make sure to ask about that!! Thank you for an amazing stay!

We loved our room and outside patio where we ate a most exceptional meal made by Jaana. All his family were wonderful and his son organised us transport to the rock for sunrise and later he tool us a nearby reserve where we saw dozens of elephants. A very special place.

The experience was really good and the hospitality was amazing. They treated us like family... In one word 10 outta 10.

We loved our stay at Jaana Guest! The room was big and spotlessly clean, and the surrounding garden is beautiful and full of birds. Jaana and his wife prepared us a tasty breakfast every day. We also ordered rice and curry one evening and it was delicious! Jaana and his family are lovely people who made us feel at home. This is a great place to stay in Sigiriya!

Beautiful place with lush green everywhere. The owners are great and really friendly. If you want to enjoy nature stay then this place is great for it.

The bathroom window did not have a mesh so big insects and frogs made their way in.

In a beautiful secluded location the owners are a lovely family that are extremely welcoming and helpful. The mothers cooking is amazing and the son is a very good tuk tuk driver, he took us on a lovely morning outing to pidurangala rock and then to a stunning view point after. We will remember that experience forever. Would 100% return if we ever come again.

Our stay at Jaana’s guesthouse was a 10 out of 10. Tharu was our tourguide in Sigiriya. He is a fun and very honest guy with lots of humor and knows where the good places are. He is a good driver (Tuk Tuk with great music) and Jeep driver and took us on Safari and tour around the area. He speaks good English and Spanish. We stayed at his family place-Jaana Guest House. The room is comfortable and quiet in tropical garden. We had a lovely stay and felt very welcome. Aluvihare (mama) is a great cook and offers different Sri Lankan dishes, all fresh. Very beautiful and lovely guesthouse. The whole Family was really kind and Puppy the Dog really cute! For Dinner we got Rice and Curry which was amazing. Very good value for Money.

The host was amazing he always tried to help us to the best of his abilities.

The best place. Everything perfect, very nice and comfortable room with a patio and a view on the beautiful garden. Very very nice and very helpful family. In addition, very good breakfast and dinner! We highly recommend this place (thanks also for organizing with us the safari and proposing to go to the festival...everything perfect once again). "Coup de coeur"!

Very good and spacey room with clean bathroom. Wieners are sweet and helpful. Near all the important points of interest in Sigiriya. Located a bit further from the main restaurant street but that is good since you don’t have any noise disturbing your sleep.

The room was very spacious, the bed super comfortable and with a terrace full of trees. The owner was very friendly and her food was amazing! Breakfast delicious and curry as well. We really enjoyed our stay. Only 30 min walking from Sigyria rock. We would really recommend staying there 🫶🏼

Beautiful family running the place, made us feel very comfortable at all times. The breakfast was full of different fruits and a very full feeling. Ask for dinner as it’s made fresh and you can have a taste of the best curries in Sri Lanka, if you prefer western they can also cook. Tharu the son does the safari to Minneriya national park if your interested in watching wild elephants, we did it with him and he speaks very good English, really nice experience. Best place we stayed in Sri Lanka, highly recommended. Thanks so much 🧡

We absolutely LOVED our stay here. The room has a big bed, big bathroom and plenty of space for all of our things, Tharu and his family were incredibly welcoming. We felt immediately at home and relaxed. The breakfast was the best we’ve had on all of our 10 months of travelling and the dinner was restaurant quality, and they were really great at accommodating our dietary requirements (the parents are chefs and it shows!!) Tharu drove us to both our sunrise hikes and brought us home, he even found us a coffee shop on the way home so we could get an iced americano. He also drove us to Negombo to catch our flight for a very competitive price. We loved our time here and were sad to leave. Couldn’t recommend this place enough 💕

Amazing family run guest house, quiet little gem not too far from the town. Short tuk tuk drive from lions rock, we had a lovely breakfast 3 mornings in a row, the lady is a very good cook and so friendly. You have your own peaceful terrace area, monkeys climbing in the trees, had a lovely stay here and would stay again.

We were warmly welcome by a fresh fuit juice. The all family were welcoming, friendly and professional. There is always someone on site. The room is big, comfortable, clean, and warm water. The breakfast is fresh and tasty. We were able to rent a motorbike via the Jaana’son. There is a nice, fresh and delicious family restaurant near by (5mins walk).

There is a road in front of the house, you can hear the vehicles passing by. The price is double if you add A\C.

Great location away from the main road but close enough to walk to restaurants and shops. Fantastic, fresh and varied breakfast every day. Lovely family who also organised safari and trips at sunrise to climb Pidurangala rock. Their dog, Poppy was also great to have around.

No complaints about the property, there are a lot dogs on the road to the property…they bark at passers by a lot but nothing to worry about!

Breakfast excellent, recommend dinner. Offered safari was well organised, saw plenty of wildlife including 40-50 elephants, knowledgeable about wildlife seen on trip. Fairly close to Lion rock one direction and bus to Dambulla other direction on road of guest house. Very friendly and helpful people. Appreciated being with a family, you are not just another client. Very good value for money . I stayed 6 days , not one day.

For our visit in Sigiriya we chose Jaana Guest House which was one of our favourite places to stay in Sri Lanka! First of all: the food is amazing! Homecooked by the family and the best Curry we had in Sri Lanka! The family is very nice and friendly and we joined one of the sons for a Safari Tour in the Hurulu Eco Park! The guest house is a 5 minutes walk off the touristic main road and one may reach Sigiriya Rock within 25 minutes of walking and Pidurangala within another 15 minutes. The rooms are tidy and clean! Besides the food overall probably also one of the best stays we had! Thank you very much!

The hostess is very kind and cooks delicious breakfast! The surrounding is beautiful. We stayed one night and everything was ok for this price. I recommend! ☺️

Wow, our stay at Jaana Guest was fantastic! Excellent value for money, the family are incredibly nice and helpful. Room is spacious and cool and in a great location. The breakfast was unreal (coconut pancakes), one night we also decided to have dinner at the property which again was great value for money, super tasty and cooked to our requirements. Definitely recommend

Sigiriya is a very jungley area, so be prepared for animals and bugs when you’re walking around the area. Apart from that, you can’t go wrong with staying at Jaana Guest

We loved this place, one of our favourite stays in Sri Lanka! The room was really nice and clean, great outside seating area felt like you were in the jungle watching the monkeys in the trees. The food was really good and not expensive and the family were all very friendly and helpful! Really good location too!

Please read We arrived 10 minutes after the booking and everything was ready. 1. The Room : Amazing place with space, no humidity, nice hot preassured shower, big fan, mosquito net and a big porch only for us. 2. Breakfast : We stay 2 nights, 2 different breakfast, both amazing, plenty of local tasty food ( the owner is a chef), juices, and coffee or tea. You gonna get full no worry. 3. Family : Everybody in the family was really welcoming, we got to know everybody and we ended up hiring the son for a last minute tuktuk ride to get a bus. Additionally they have the best dog popy 🐶 the cutest dog of sri lanka you will see ! So if you are still hesitating, we gonna tell you what to do : book it ! Thanks for all 🌞❤️
