El personal magnífico. Especialmente un chico joven que ayudaba tambien en cocina. Muy limpio pese a estar rodeado de naturaleza, muy bien ubicado (cerca en tuk tuk de Pidurangala y Lions Rock) y a 20 minutos andando del pueblo.

Die Zimmer waren sehr geräumig und sauber. Das Essen war jederzeit lecker von Frühstück über Mittagessen und Abendessen. Der Pool war groß und wurde jeden Tag gereinigt. Am besten jedoch war das Personal. Sie waren äußerst freundlich und zuvorkommend. Egal mit welchen Anliegen man auf sie zu kam, uns wurde immer freundlich und professionell weitergeholfen. Janith und Sandal haben unseren Aufenthalt echt zu einem Vergnügen gemacht. Insgesamt eine klare Weiterempfehlung!

I had an amazing stay. The location was great, the rooms were very nice and the pool was lovely. The staff made me feel right at home and took care of everything I needed. They were very kind. I especially want to thank Janith and Sandali for the great service! I also want to thank chef for the good meals, I'm sorry for not knowing your name. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and family!

Janish, Sandali and the team looked after us so well, arranging activities, tuk tuks and even laundry for us. The room and pool were perfect too, and nice fresh food at the restaurant :) Overall a very fun and relaxing 4 nights!

Highly recommend Lions Gate Hotel. It was such an enjoyable stay. The staff Sandali and Janith were so hospitable. The food was amazing (we ordered Sri Lankan dishes, all delicious). The pool is a big win, so relaxing and great way to stay cool. Rooms were very modern, clean, and as captured in the photos. Highly recommend booking!

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were served by Janith and Sadali: this praise applies to both of them. Always so cheerful, brought juice to the pool, helped carry our bags, etc. A special mention to Janith, who was always smiling while helping and wanted to make sure everything was okay. Another plus was that we had quick contact with staff all day through WhatsApp. That service was also very helpful. The room was really clean and modern. Luckily we didn't have bugs (aside from a few small ants). The whole hotel area was generally very clean and pleasant. There was construction going on in the yard, but it wasn't a bother at all. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were provided in the rooms, and pool towels were available on request. Thank you so much Lion Gate, I can warmly recommend it!

The location is decent, but there aren't many restaurants or cafés nearby. It's not safe to walk around alone in the dark (the hotel warned about things like wild elephants), so we ate at the hotel restaurant a lot. 3% surcharge for card payments.

We hebben een heel fijn verblijf gehad in dit hotel. Het personeel was super aardig en behulpzaam. Vooral Janith en Sandali waren ontzettend vriendelijk en hielpen ons heel goed met onze jonge dochter. De kamer was ook heel groot, schoon en comfortabel. Al met al hebben we een erg fijne tijd gehad en voelden we ons hier echt welkom. Zeker een aanrader!

Het zou fijn zijn als er een kinderstoel aanwezig was. Dat is het enige wat er ontbrak voor ons.

Een heel mooi kleinschalig verblijf, bij binnenkomst in de kamer rook het direct heerlijk & de airco stond al aan! Het ligt op ongeveer 4 minuten van de Lion Rock wat echt ideaal was! ⛰️ Ook hebben we via het hotel een safari geboekt met privé chauffeur, super goed geregeld! Personeel is heel erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam 🤗

Superbe accueil, Janith et Sandali ont été adorables tout le long de notre séjour. Vraiment merci à eux 🙏 Chambre parfaite, ultra propre, super belle. Piscine hyper agréable, restaurant sur place parfait et petit déjeuner excellent.

La chambre était vraiment spacieuse et confortable. Le petit déjeuner excellent La piscine Et le personnel vraiment au top ! Notamment Sandli et Janith ainsi que le chef cuisinier et le responsable de l’hôtel.

Le wifi vraiment 0 sur l’établissement. Le fait que la chambre ne soit pas nettoyé tous les jours.

Sehr schlechtes Wifi, Mitarbeiter eher zurückhaltend, teilweise nicht sauber und in die Jahre gekommen. Preis Leistung nicht gegeben im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels in Sri Lanka:

Zeer tevreden met ons verblijf bij Lion Gate. Zeer ruime kamers met airco, lekker ontbijt en en vriendelijk personeel. De manager Mr. Bernard was zeer behulpzaam en begaan met ons. Eigenlijk was het totaalpakket helemaal in orde!

They did ask me to pay a bit of money for early check in (like one hour before) which seemed a bit cheeky.

El trato de Bernard fue excelente. Nos consiguió safari y tuk tuk con precios razonables mejores incluso que buscando por nuestra cuenta. Tiene todas las comodidades y es muy tranquilo.

Camera comoda e spaziosa. Ottima coazione e anche il ristorante dell'hotel, sebbene non sia compreso, è molto buono. La piscina è l'ideale per rilassarsi dopo una giornata di escursioni sotto il sole. Inoltre, il personale è super disponibile e pronto ad aiutare in ogni modo.

Unica nota negativa, il wifi spesso non funzionava correttamente.

Çalışanlar çok yardımcı ve çok tatlılardı

Alt katta kaldık etraftaki çiçeklerden dolayı muhtemelen çok fazla sinek, böcek vardı. Sanırım otel az çalışanla çalışıyor resepsiyondaki arkadaşlar aynı zamanda hem temizlik hem de yemek yapıyorlar çok profesyonel değil

Wir waren im neusten Bungalow. Alles mega schön und sauber. Sehr gutes Frühstück. Sehr freundliches und gut englisch sprechendes Personal. Haben uns für abends auch tuk tuk organisiert. Toller sauberer Pool.

Wirklich nichts.

Wunderschönes Hotel mit einem herrlichen Pool, sauberen großen Zimmern und ein extrem freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal Sandal und Janith. Der Hotelchef Bernard organisiert einem alle Wünsche für Unternehmungen. Das Restaurant ist zudem absolut zu empfehlen. Äußerst gutes Essen zum fairen Preis.

The breakfast was decent. However, there was no room cleaning service. The location was good, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

De ligging van dit hotel is ideaal, vlak aan de lion rock en in de omgeving zijn leuke restaurants en winkeltjes. De 2 nieuwe kamers die ze dit jaar bijgebouwd hebben zijn zeer mooi, in de oude kamers zijn een aantal dingen aan vervanging toe oa het kastje.

Bij onze aankomst in het hotel waren het zwembad en de zetels er rond zeer vuil. Volgel uitwerpselen op de kussens, er zat heel wat ongedierte in het zwembad en ook draaide de filters niet. Het hotel maakte een vuile en slordige eerste indruk bij aankomst wat we niet gewoon waren. Toen we met onze gids overwogen om met onze groep van 8 personen een ander hotel te kiezen kwam de manager wel in actie. Alles werd proper gemaakt, het zwembad werd behandeld met chloor waardoor we pas de volgende dag hiervan gebruik konden maken. Manager kwam zeer zenuwachtig over gedurende heel het verblijf, maar niets dan lof voor de kok en de rest van het personeel.

Hôtel très bien situé, jolie extérieur avec piscine. Très bon accueil, le personnel est arrangeant. Merci à Sandali et Janith de nous avoir si bien accueilli. L’hôtel arrange aussi des chauffeurs depuis l’aéroport de Colombo à des prix très corrects et avec de très bons chauffeurs. Pareil sur place avec les tuktuk et autres moyens de déplacement

The staff were very helpful. In particular Sandali Janith Senavirathna. The breakfast was so tasty and great local treats like hoppers and kurakkan porridge. The location is great - a lovely coffee shop next door.

The air conditioner was noisy.

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt und haben uns im Hotel sehr wohlgefühlt. Wir empfehlen das Hotel gerne weiter! Sandali und Janith waren unglaublich freundlich, aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. Sie haben uns Fahrten und eine Safari organisiert und uns Tipps für Sigiriya gegeben. Das Hotel ist modern, sehr gepflegt und der Pool wird täglich gereinigt. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker. Im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels während unserer Reise gehört dieses zu unseren Favoriten – vor allem das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist super. Vielen Dank an das Hotel-Team:)

La chambre très grande et spacieuse.

Le wifi est déplorable. Par ailleurs nous avions réservé 4 nuits (3 moi et 1 min ami), à notre arrivée ils nous ont annulé notre dernière nuit. Nous avons dû chercher un autre logement. Aucune compensation n’a été faite, ni sur le safari (sur facturé) ni sur le transport de leur hôtel au nouveau (soit disant ils nous l’offraient). Je ne vous conseille pas de passer par eux pour faire une activité ou réserver un transport. Ils rajoutent 5000 roupies à ce que vous trouverez ailleurs.

Primera parada en Sri Lanka y la verdad que hemos alucinado, un hotel súper agradable, muy bien ubicado y con el mejor servicio y atención que hemos recibido, Janith es un chico que trabaja en el hotel, es un maquina y una gran persona, nos ha tratado de 10, recomiendo mucho este hotel de verdad y Sandali la chica de recepción muy amable también. Le hemos regalado a Janith una camiseta del Barça que teníamos por el gran servicio que nos ha dado.

Wir hatten einen sehr angenehmen Aufenthalt. Die kleine Hotelanlage ist liebevoll gestaltet, sehr sauber und gepflegt. Das gesamte Personal war außergewöhnlich freundlich, herzlich und jederzeit hilfsbereit. Unser Zimmer war groß, sauber und hatte einen schönen Balkon. Auch der Pool war sehr gepflegt und ideal zum Entspannen. Besonders gut gefallen hat uns außerdem die tolle Lage, der Lion Rock ist von hier aus sehr gut zu erreichen.

Kleine Abzüge gibt es allerdings für das WLAN, das während unseres Aufenthalts kaum bzw. gar nicht funktioniert hat. Zudem war der Unterschrank am Waschbecken komplett kaputt, das Regal darüber hing schief und die Bettwäsche hatte einige Flecken. Diese Punkte konnten den insgesamt positiven Eindruck zwar nicht wesentlich trüben, sollten aber behoben werden.

The hospitality and warmth of the staff really made our trip memorable. Particularly Mr. Bernard - he went the extra mile and helped us plan out our activities for the days we were there, and arranged transport with a very professional, friendly and accommodating tuktuk driver. The entire Lion Gate team was extremely responsive to our requests and genuinely welcoming. The pool is also perfect for a quick dip after a long day of exploring sigiriya and the surrounds.

Personnel très gentils et accueillants. La chambre été propre, et il y avait tout ce qu’il faut. Il y avait des moustiquaires sur les fenêtres de la salle de bain. John Bernard a bien pris soin de nous.

Plusieurs plats/desserts proposées à la carte n’étaient pas disponibles.

Hotel muy recomendable. Está muy bien ubicado, cerca de todo: hay varios restaurantes a los que se puede ir andando y el Lion Rock está a menos de 5 minutos en tuk-tuk. El hotel estaba impecablemente limpio, con un agradable olor a limpio en todo momento, y además es muy bonito, de los mejores de la zona. El personal fue súper amable y atento, especialmente el encargado, que estuvo pendiente de nosotros en todo momento. La relación calidad-precio es excelente, especialmente teniendo en cuenta que la zona es un poco más cara. Además, el desayuno era muy completo y diferente cada día. Sin duda, volveríamos a alojarnos aquí.

La piscina era espectacular y la habitación era súper grande. El desayuno estaba muy bien.

Gutes Frühstück, nettes und hilfreiches Personal, toller Pool, Zimmer sind sauber

Wirkt ein wenig heruntergekommen. In unserem Zimmer war der Kasten unter dem Spülbecken teilweise defekt/hat teilweise gefehlt. Unser Zimmer war im EG, Zimmer war ein wenig stickig und dunkel. Bettbezüge sollten mal ersetzt werden, haben viele Löcher.

Na onze eerste overnachtingen in Negombo, waar we iets minder tevreden waren over het hotel, kwamen we op de tweede dag van onze reis aan bij Lion Gate Hotel. Wat een geweldige verrassing! Het hotel is in 2024 gebouwd en is heerlijk kleinschalig. Op dit moment beschikt het over vier tweepersoonskamers en twee familiekamers, met nog twee extra kamers in aanbouw. Vanaf het eerste moment zorgen Janith, Sadali en chef-kok Senavirathna ervoor dat het je aan niets ontbreekt. Ze zijn ontzettend vriendelijk, gastvrij, behulpzaam en doen er alles aan om je verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. Iedere ochtend bereidt de chef een ander traditioneel Sri Lankaans ontbijt. Normaal gesproken zouden wij hier waarschijnlijk niet snel voor kiezen, maar alles wat we kregen was vers, van uitstekende kwaliteit en vooral ontzettend lekker. We hebben ook één avond in het hotel gegeten en ook dat was echt fantastisch. Direct naast het hotel zit bovendien een nieuw koffiezaakje. Ben je liefhebber van koffie, haal daar dan zeker een cappuccino – absoluut een aanrader! Onze dank gaat uit naar het hardwerkende personeel, dat ons verblijf onvergetelijk heeft gemaakt. Wij kunnen Lion Gate Hotel dan ook van harte aanbevelen aan iedereen die op zoek is naar een kleinschalig, gastvrij en kwalitatief uitstekend verblijf in de omgeving van Sigiriya.

Eigenlijk hebben we geen minpunten ervaren. Als we dan toch iets zouden moeten noemen, is het dat de handdoeken op de kamer niet standaard worden vervangen. Wanneer je erom vraagt, gebeurt dit echter direct en zonder problemen. Daarom vinden wij dit eigenlijk geen echt minpunt, maar meer een klein aandachtspunt.

Alles ziet er netjes en schoon uit. Er zijn maar 6 kamers dus lekker rustig

Als ik dan echt 1 ding moet opnoemen is dat er in 4 dagen geen schone handdoeken werden neergelegd. Maar als je ernaar vroeg werd het meteen gehaald.

La limpieza extraordinaria. Es moderno y habitación muy amplia. Hay secador , plancha y tendedero para la ropa, lo cuál es una ventaja. El personal muy amable, aunque un pelín lentos, pero es lo normal en Sri Lanca. Bien ubicado pues cerca hay diferentes restaurantes. El desayuno es el estándar del país (correcto) fruta,huevos, pan,mantequilla y mermelada, tortitas etc. se puede comer y cenar en el hotel a precios razonables .El chef y su equipo son un encanto. Piscina con agua limpísima y un jardín bien cuidado. Relación calidad precio: muy bueno

Everything was clean, and the manager was very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was good, especially the freshly made egg omelets. The pool was clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend staying here.

Slightly outside of the main village but we are used to walking everywhere. Breakfast initially seems limited as was asked if we wanted a fried egg or omelette but then the food just keeps coming; there was a wide variety and changed each days.

Great hotel with spacious and well-equipped rooms. It feels like a proper hotel rather than one aiming to satisfy backpackers. It's modern and well designed, with a nice pool that our kids thoroughly enjoyed.

Onze kamer was super mooi, groot en schoon. De manager John Bernard is super aardig en behulpzaam, geeft zijn huurders een zeer goed gevoel. Mijn man werd ziek, hij zorgde voor Medicijnen en een ander werd geprikt door een wesp, hij haalde gelijk zijn medicijnen doos. Bleef vragen hoe gaat het? Die Unterkunft liegt direkt an der Straße und man hört den Straßenlärm leider wenn man am zB. am Pool liegt. Ansonsten absolut empfehlenswert!

Location is perfect to visit near Sigiriya and the stuff are super welcoming. I forgot some of my stuff at the hotel they were kind enough to ship it to me. They helped us to get a safari trip from the hotel. It was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this place.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr zentral gelegen aber trotzdem total ruhig. Die Anlage ist sehr neu und modern. Wir hatten ein sehr großes Zimmer, das mit allem ausgestattet war, was man braucht. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das Personal, das rund um die Uhr dafür gesorgt hat, dass es uns gutgeht und uns nichts fehlt.

Great location if climbing the rock - 10 min drive away. New rooms and staff really went above and beyond.

There was some teething issues with the new rooms. It wasnt very prepared for rain and small things like the bathroom doors didnt shut properly. Also there were quite a few flies at breakfast. We understand that it’s all being fixed at the moment so will definitely recommend you booking it!

Het lieve personeel, de uitgebreide ontbijtjes, het heerlijke zwembad en de ruime kamer. De locatie is ook fijn! In de straat zitten al verschillende eetgelegenheden en je kunt met de tuktuk gemakkelijk naar een wat drukker deel.

The place was impeccable! The host Mr Bernard and his staff were most welcoming and made our stay truely lovely.

El hotel es muy bonito, limpio y está muy bien cuidado. Las habitaciones son amplias y cómodas, y la zona de la piscina es realmente agradable. Lo que hace especial este lugar es el personal: todos son increíblemente amables, educados, atentos y siempre dispuestos a ayudar, sobretodo el manager Bernat. De verdad se nota que se preocupan por sus huéspedes. También queremos recomendar especialmente al conductor organizado por el hotel, Mana, que nos recogió en el aeropuerto y nos ayudó durante toda nuestra estancia. Muy amable, fiable y profesional. ¡100% recomendable!

昼食と夕食を１回食べましたが、どちらも美味しかったです。設備も清潔で全く問題ありませんでした。ランドリーの依頼にも早急に対応してくれてスタッフの対応が皆よかったです。

シギリヤロックへ歩いていくには少し遠いのでトゥクトゥク等が必要です。梅雨時期もありスコールで何回か停電していましたが地域的なことで仕方ないかと思います。

Nothing. I couldn’t stay there as they had overbooked. They were not at all honest about this in the first instance. Blamed a power cut. Sent me elsewhere. However the power came back on and when my driver took me back to this property the owner came clean and told us the real reason. The owner was a reasonable man but the manager did not treat me at all well. Most disappointing. I was however invited for a complimentary breakfast the following morning.

As per commentary above. It was nice to be invited for complimentary breakfast but disappointing not to be able to stay due to an error on their part. They did refund me but sent me elsewhere. Most stressful at the end of a long day of driving to be turned away!

Heerlijk hotel met een mooie setup. Het is er rustig, schoon en gemoedelijk. Je kunt er heerlijk eten en ook het ontbijt wat je ‘s ochtends krijgt is goed! De medewerkers onderkoeling van Bernard staan de hele dag voor je klaar als je vragen hebt en helpen graag. Heerlijk ontspannen genieten in Sigiriya! We hebben 1 tip, ventilator in het restaurant om vliegen in de ochtend weg te houden. Het verblijf is perfect schoon maar helaas vliegen horen bij Sri Lanka!
