- Toilet upstairs you had to walk through the share bunk room - steep narrow staircase as long as you don’t have larger than a handcarry it’s fine - bathrooms felt really dark

I didn't like that they allowed some guests to chill in the living room earlier before official check in and not me. Either you allow everyone or no one but making such choices was badly received by me.

Nice location, looks very cute and we had a nice room. Also very cheap, in my opinion worth it.

The shower was moldy inbetween the tiles, but one good scrub with anti mold should fix that.

おうちみたいで安心できた。 スタッフの方々も声かけてくれたり気にかけてくれたりしたところ。 お部屋も設備もおしゃれで素敵だった。

Sehr schönes altes Haus. Der Gemeimschaftsraum lädt zum verweilen ein. Authentisches japanisches Haus für kleines Budget ! Das Zimmer war auch ruhig, man hatte im Bed viel Platz und auch Schließfächer um seine Sachen zu verrräumen.

Die Toiletten sind etwas weit weg vom Zimmer, das muss man bedenken wenn man dort bucht.

温かく面白いイラストがそこら中に。時間あればじっくり見たかった♡　古民家を生かし設備に工夫が見られ、手作り感一杯！ とてもリーズナブルな良いお宿でした。 外国の人や旅慣れた人が多く話しやすい雰囲気♡ 　商店街の中にあり、ロープウェイ駅や猫の細道にも近く便利　私は久々の一泊旅行でしたが、旅をしたぞー感を　思いっきり味わえました!!

60代女性一人旅。咳喘息あり、寒暖差アレルギー、トイレが近い😂……なのでお部屋によりますが、トイレが少し遠くドア開けるのに気を使う、扇風機の風の向きに気を使う、二段ベッドで頭を打つ、音で気を使う、… 　でもこれぞ旅の醍醐味 ドミトリーだから安い、承知の上です！ 面白かった😃　良くないこと無いです✌️

Less space

The location is quite a steep but short climb, the view was absolutely breathtaking. The outside had a traditional pond and it had a very nice, country style atmosphere.

I suppose the rooms had a slight smell and the down hill was a bit dangerous, but what’s the Shimanami cycling course without a little danger?

建物がとても素敵で、情緒がある。 本コーナーやフリースペースのカードゲームやボードゲームも魅力的。

The best hostel in Onomichi my opinion. The staff is so nice and accomodating and the living space is really lively while not to noisy. A very good starting point for the biking trip to Imabari

Staff were helpful & accommodating (especially for luggage storage ahead of arrival). Even though I didn't use it, kitchen was well equipped & there were vouchers/discounts for other retail stores nearby (e.g., sento). Unique vibes in the whole setup - common area had a Showa-era aesthetic & was accessible via a narrow alley from the main shopping arcade. Overall, a charming stopover & affordable place to stay that matches Onomichi's trendy vibes.

Bathroom was grimey & not the most clean. Narrow entrance alley while aesthetic, made it abit difficult to access shoes in rack outside, especially when crowded with both guesthouse & cafe guests.

We had the traditional room and it was amazing! Very beautiful and very spacious

The people working there are rude, unprofessional, and dishonest. I booked one week there and initially liked it, although it has very narrow corridors and below average shower facilities. Then on the second day I realised there is a constant flow of people going up and down the alleyway the guest house is located on, and all these people can and will peak directly inside of the living room. And then on the third day I came home to my stuff having been touched and moved around. Since I was the only person in the whole dormitory, I realised that the staff had taken the liberty to touch my stuff. I moved out immediately, agreed verbally with the staff to refund me for the remainder. Then over message they said they would charge me half a day extra. Then they actually charged me one and a half day extra. After complaining a bunch to booking, they refunded me a half day on top. Meaning I still have been charged 3 nights / days when I only stayed 2 nights / days. And yeah almost every employee is rude. No greetings, no smiling, it just feels like you are in their way honestly. Avoid this place, I found a much better one down the road for the same price.

ドミトリーのベッドのカーテンが、少し短くて全部閉めても隙間がありました。

ドミトリー形式で2段ベッド。シーツのセットとかもセルフ方式。シーツ２枚と枕カバーをもらって自分でセットする。２枚のシーツの間に寝る形式なので、わからない人がいるかもしれない。設備は古くて味がある感じだけど清潔で気持ちがいい。なにより全体にその古さがとても味わいがあって落ち着く。本もたくさんあって隠れ家的に滞在したくなる。朝ごはんは前日に注文して下のあくびカフェで頂くことができる。おにぎりがとても美味しい。

ベッドメイキングの方法が、ユースホステルを利用したことがない人にはわからないかもしれないので、説明してもらう方がいいような気がします。

It was so cute and traditional, the Japanese shared room was quite spacious and close to the toilet with a nice outlook.

One person found the stairs challenging, the shower wasn't draining well and the walls were quite thin so we could hear the neighbours. Buy the good stuff balanced this out for me.

It was quirky, down a narrow little alleyway with a beautiful garden and a stunning Japanese style room. The host was super helpful, spending half an hour of his time helping us to sort out our booking properly. The property was very easy to find, and since we arrived in the rain it was handy being in the arcade as we stayed dry on our 15 min walk from the station!

The staircase was very steep and narrow, we found this not a problem and quite fun, but maybe if you aren’t interested in lugging your suitcase up then be prepared!

It is a real Japanese house, the vibe is lovely, with tatami floors thin corridors and rice paper doors. Very big house in the middle.of a commercial street (not very well isolated tho)

So the staff is very stiff, not unpolite or anythign, just one doesn't feel very welcomed... looking at us like aliens. Beds I'm sorry but worst I slept on, even putting the 2 futons on that makeshift bedframe lined with tatami... both up and down in the twin beds (we were each in one 🛌) Very very loud next morning in the female dorm at 6am on a Sunday, no respect for the rest of us...

The hostel was quite social but for backpackers.

The host seemed a bit cold and the staircase was so narrow, that we always had to be extra careful not to slip.

Wonderful atmosphere, truly special and definitely unique!

It goes feel quite cramped, which is ‘the price you pay’ for the unique style.

Location was great, room was fine.

One particular staff member was extremely unhelpful and rude regarding forwarding our bags to the next hotel. After having been advised by email and by another colleague about times etc. he advised different information, and made us feel as if we were at fault. It left a bad feeling about our stay here. Don’t offer a service if you don’t want to actually provide the service so people can find alternatives.

チェックアウトの時朝早く６時頃だったので誰も対応して貰え ず良いのかなぁ？で出発しました。大丈夫だったかなぁって感じです。後２段ベッドの上は、 良いのですが、はしごが、急で ６５歳には、怖かったです。 横に網ロープとか下げて捕まる ところを増やしてください。

Very homey and unique guest house. Situated on the shopping street, you can make it here mostly under cover from Onomichi Station. The guest house is tucked in at the back through a narrow alleyway. Inside, you will find yourself in a very retro Japanese style living room and kitchen and reception, with little knick knacks decorating the space. We did not cook during our stay, but from what we saw, the kitchen seemed small, but fairly well equipped. We stayed in the private room. Our room was fairly spacious, with a side room where we can look out into the garden. It is a shared toilet but since (for the private room side) there is only 2 room sharing. There was never a situation where we need to wait to use the toilet.

Shower drains were somewhat clogged, draining slowly. If this bothers you, you should head out to the nearby public baths. I should note that if you are on the wider side, or afraid of heights, then this guest house might not be right for you. The narrow alley going into the guest house entrance and the steep stairs going to the sleeping spaces could potentially be challenging. The wall is quite thin so even with the private room, we could hear the person next room snoring.

The guesthouse felt so authentic and was exactly what I imagined a typical japanese guesthouse to be like. The beds were traditional futon beds, the place itself was also super quiet and just very peaceful. They offer really nice breakfast in collaboration with the cafe at the front which was also very convenient. I will definitely be back here!

安い。その分部屋にテレビやゴミ箱がなかったり、自分で布団敷いてシーツは後で洗濯に出さないといけない、ゴミも自分で分別とか色々ありますが、静かな雰囲気と、レトロな感じ、そこで出会う方々等、とても良い体験でした。泊まる方々は自炊が多いイメージ。我が家は朝のおにぎり定食お願いしたんですが、美味しくて出来たてなのはいいんですが、4人分作るのに結構時間をかけていて、思ったより待ったのが少し残念でした。

あなごのねどこ、 名前通りアナゴの寝床でした！

This place is amazing. Offers very traditional and homey vibe. With big kitchen and living room. Also has a garden. Perfect for anyone who would want to stay in traditional Japanese house

Bathrooms are a bit small

Although we couldn't check in early, the staff helped us with our luggage storage, even after we checked out. There was a kitchen, the place was clean, when we asked the staff for suggestions for food he was being helpful as well

The only bad thing is to go in to the accommodation entrance there is only one narrow hallway. Might be difficult if you have many large luggage, a bit pricey

The style and design of the guesthouse is very cool and welcoming. It has a well equiped kitchen and the shared space had a lot of manga and board games that we were able to use.

The bed was too small for me, wich was very uncomfortable.

Établissement incroyable a découvrir. Une belle expérience. Les responsables gèrent ca vraiment bien et c est un lieu paisible et inspirant. Décoration magnifique

Quand deux lit en hauteur sont cote a côté c est comme si vous dormiez avec l autre personne. J entendais même son souffle dans mon oreille. Toilettes a l opposé de la maison. Pour celles qui y vont souvent dans la nuit ce n est pas l idéal. Encore une fois un détail qui n enleve rien a cette expérience que j ai beaucoup apprécié.

商店街にあるのですごくロケーションよく過ごせたのと、雨が降っても濡れなかったので助かりましたっ！！ 学校の図書室っぽい雰囲気と古民家っぽい雰囲気の両方を兼ね備えられてて可愛かったです♡ 外国の方ともお話できるいい機会になったのでとても楽しかったです^^ 朝食も頼んだらお願いできるみたいなのでこの値段のやすさならお手軽だなと感じました♪♪また行きたいです

Staff was very friendly. Stocked kitchen with everything you need to create your own meals. Easy walking from the station, it's in the shopping arcade, allowing easy access to everything and secure parking for your bicycle. Would absolutely say again.

Only complaint is the alleyway is a wee bit narrow for larger bicycles to pass, but I'm just nitpicking because the app asked me to say something I didn't like.
