John's Homestay Srinagar - Stay Ride Hike

The home stay is very clean and the staff, especially the owner are very friendly and super helpful. They also speak very good English which is a massive plus. The location is very good and quiet compared to other hotels in town.

I loved the responsiveness here! Be it travel plans, local experiences, shopping spots or just kahwa (chats) and a variety of bakery items...i had a blissful time! Jaan uncle is a great travel companion with his steady, calm driving, the photos he encourages to take and his knowledge of the region that he shares along the way.

I thought the place was closer to the Dal lake when I booked so that's the only part I missed.

The dorms here were super clean and comfortable, some of the best I’ve experienced in India. Ali was super helpful and gave me loads of useful recommendations for Kashmir, as well as some very friendly chats & life advice!

It’s a little far out from the city/lake

The property is clean, extremely well maintained and accessible. The beds are soft and wide, very comfortable and especially the bathrooms are spotless. It’s well ventilated and very comfortable. But the best thing about the property is the owner Ali bhai. He is always up for solving any problems, you might have. He is very helpful, accommodating and always eager for feedback. I would recommend John’s property to anyone trying to find a stay in Srinagar

It was pleasant stay. A bit far from the center but that is expected and easy to get rides on Rapido. Value for money definitely! Ali is able to help manage your transport for trips around if needed.

The place is wonderful and the staff is excellent. They make you feel at home. The facilities are well maintained and clean. I am glad I chose to stay here and I would stay here again.

Stayed in John's Homestay (Dorm) for 2 Day's before heading to Leh. Stay was very Wonderful, Super Neat and Clean. Very Friendly Environment. Ali and his family stays on ground floor and were very friendly and helpful. I would suggest this to everyone. Felt really bad as he denied to take money for 3 large cup of Tea. Also Apologies for posting this review after almost 1.5 months. So Sorry Bother.

Everything about the place. People, City, food, Culture and last but the most important WEATHER. I went there from 46 degree (Bhopal) to Srinagar 24 degree.

More than that, the caring and respectful behaviour of John Muhammad sir and his son Ali bro made the place feel very homely and safe for a solo traveler like me. They were always helpful without being intrusive and guided me whenever needed. Staying there for so many days itself says how peaceful and comfortable the experience was. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a genuine homestay experience in Srinagar.

I had an awesome stay at John’s. I was treated super friendly and felt at home. Ali helped me get around Kashmere, which for my first time in Kashmere, I appreciated a lot. The dorm and bathroom were clean. Also, the garden is nice to spend some time in. The cat might come say hi. Thank you so much Ali and your family for everything. May God bless you all.

The dormitory was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The host family was friendly and always willing to help, which made the stay even more pleasant. The location is peaceful and relaxing, yet close enough to easily access the main center. Overall, a very enjoyable experience

The location wasn’t the best. Not much to do around the residential area and had to take uber to get around risk due food and shops.

Very homely feeling with John's stay! Mr. Owais and family truly were the kindest most hospitable people I've met, throughout my travel experience. Highly highly recommend people visiting Srinagar to opt for this stay. It was raining heavily in Srinagar during my stay and I got unwell one night and Owais personally drove me to a nearby hospital. The family was really kind and ensured I recovered well. ❤️

We wouldn't have asked for a warmer host, more exceptional hospitality and so much of a homely feeling than what we got. The host was warm, friendly, helpful, patient, considerate and attentive. The house was well maintained, tidy , clean and queit.

I've just had an amazing stay with Ali and his family at Johns homestay in the beautiful town of Srinagar. I couldn't recommended this place enough! Right away I was warmly welcomed by Ali and we got stuck into a great yarn over chai. There was no dramas about me being slightly early for check in and Ali kindly helped me with all and every question I had, including making some small repairs to my motorbike! The whole family is lovely, the rooms are super clean, the bathrooms are new and luxurious considering the price, beds are extremely comfortable, well ventilated plenty of fans and plenty of space. You cannot go wrong with this place. Not only do you have a great place to sleep but you can learn so much about the culture and the people of the area through talking with the family and Ali and observing how they live. Ali's knowledge of the kashmir/laddakh area is vast so he will give you the best advice to see this amazing part of the world. Thank you kindly to the whole family for having me to stay, it has been my most memorable and special hostel stay in all my travels 😊🙏

My stay was fantastic! The bed was cozy, and the family was super friendly and welcoming. The homestay was spotless, and their little garden was the perfect spot to unwind. Plus, they even arranged a jeep ride to Ladakh for me – talk about going the extra mile!

John's Homestay was ideally located, the family was so incredibly warm, attentive, and generous, and the room was one of the cleanest and most comfortable homestay rooms I have ever stayed at. Ali was particularly helpful and made the check-in process and acquiring an airport cab very easy. I was also feeling quite ill during my stay, and the hosts were very attentive to check in and also prepared a delicious, and nourishing meal that helped me recover. (Thank you so much, again!!!) For those considering the location, John's homestay is situated quite conveniently near Lal Chowk and Polo View Market, as well as to the airport. A short walk to the road makes acquiring a taxi, rickshaw, or uber very easy, and I even found it walkable to some cafes (Books & bricks, for ex). I also appreciated as a bonus, the very intense water pressure and water in the shower- a major, unexpected plus. I would definitely recommend this homestay to others!

Real home stay! We only met John and his son Ali, both made the stay very comfortable. Ali’s communication before, during and after the stay was great. Provided recommendations and car service to Gulmarg. Bed was comfortable with heated blanket and bathroom was exceptionally clean. Good breakfasts and nice to get to know the family

Our stay at John's Homestay was so warm and heartwarming. The cozy comforts, like the reliable hot water and electric blankets, kept us toasty in the cool climate. But it was Ali's genuine hospitality that truly warmed our stay. He's a fantastic conversationalist and an invaluable resource for planning your Kashmiri adventures. I was impressed by his family's kindness too - when I couldn't find the key to my suitcase's lock, Ali's brother helped me break the lock. And there's a beautiful little tom cat, who is so friendly and cuddly! He was the cherry on top our cake during our stay here.  There's literally nothing bad I can say about this place. Everything was amazing! I recommend this place to all fellow travelers.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at John's Homestay! Initially booked for one night, I ended up extending my stay for another night. The homestay offered excellent amenities, including hot water showers and electric blankets for cozy warmth. They also offer bike rentals, and I took Royal Enfield Himalayan for a fantastic day trip to Sonamarg.

Best homestay located near Srinagar

I had a wonderful 1-night stay at John's Homestay. The place is immaculately clean and well-maintained, with thoughtful amenities like electric blankets for cozy warmth. The washroom was spotless, and the availability of hot water was a lovely touch.

Ali and his wonderful family are amazing hosts and will make you feel at home. Ali speaks flawless English and helps you with planning your trip in Kashmir. Rooms are cozy and clean. Electric blankets are provided during winter time.

Small suggestion: maybe electric heater could be provided during winter, but during the night electric blankets will keep you warm just fine!

For ₹699 I got Heated bed and highly cleaned bathroom with hot shower. Highly attentive host, he helped me by picking me up on saying that the autos are charging higher prices. Therefore it's highly recommended.
