Sie hat uns so viel geholfen und stand uns sehr zu Hilfe, als unsere Anreise erschwert war wegen Umwetter und dadurch nur ein viel späterer Check-in erst möglich war. Die japanischen Betten waren außerdem herrlich bequem und die Möglichkeit, sich Getränke im Hotel zu kaufen, fanden wir auch super! Vielen Dank!

Reviewed Sep 9, 2026La experencia del ryokan + tatami fue muy positiva. La cena estuvo genial tmbn. El sitio estaba muy limpio incluyendo los aseos / duchas compartidas (de las cuales hay bastantes).
Un poco cara la estancia, pero por lo demas genial. Quiza diria que haya mejor opcion de regular la intensidad de la luz en la habitacion dado que era o muy fuerte, o inexistente.

Reviewed Sep 9, 2026Primer de tot, l'hotel és molt bonic i el sopar, que es paga i reserva a part, és molt bo, tradicional i molt complert. Els lavabos i les dutxes són compartides, però estan molt netes i no ha suposat cap problema. Vam arribar una mica justes pel sopar, i tot i així ens van esperar, la qual cosa s'agraeix! La localització de l'hotel és inmillorable, perfecte per fer un tram de la Old Nakasendo Trail (Magome -> Tsumago). A més, tenen parking propi.
Seria ideal que les habitacions fossin una mica més grans, però per tota la resta perfecte!

Reviewed Sep 6, 2026Ambiance auberge de jeunesse dans un décor traditionnel, superbement situé en plein coeur du très beau village de Magome. Très bonne ambiance conviviale dans les chambres prévues pour 4 personnes, sur futons. Si vous n'avez pas réservé le dîner traditionnel, l'établissement met à disposition des produits de bonne qualité pour vous restaurer.
Les douches sont partagées, comme dans une auberge de jeunesse. Attention également, auberge typique oblige, il faut ne pas avoir de difficulté à s'asseoir par terre.

Reviewed Sep 3, 2026La ubicación es increíble y las habitaciones son muy bonitas. La cena fue excelente. La persona que nos atendió a nuestra llegada fue muy amable y simpática.
No hay ningún tipo de insonorización y se oyen las conversaciones de habitaciones vecinas o cómo se cepilla los dientes alguien en la pila del pasillo. El alojamiento me pareció caro teniendo en cuenta que es sencillo y con baño compartido.

Reviewed Sep 2, 2026Esta en un lugar de ensueño, nos tocó una habitación preciosa, amplia, con unas vistas increibles. Todo en general estaba limpio y bien cuidado, y las zonas comunes eran amplias y agradables. La cena estaba deliciosa, y la recomiendo encarecidamente. Tenian zapatillas de cortesia para la posada y para la calle, ademas de yukatas para andar por la zona. Tienes duchas con puerta por si te da algo de vergüenza usar las publicas. Si quieres desconectar, y pasar una experiencia fantástica, no dudes en probarlo.
Aunque nosotros salimos temprano de la posada, y no nos afectaba, el check out es muy temprano. Esto no es culpa de la posada, si no de el mal uso que algunos clientes le dan al lugar, pero quiero contar mi experiencia; había un chico, que andaba a pisotones por todos lados, haciendo retumbar media edificación. Es un lugar que si no andas tranquilo y con cuidado, se escucha mucho, y eso chico hacia temblar media posada. Luego esta el tema de los baños públicos. Si alguna vez habéis usado alguno en Japón, sabréis que hay duchas para limpiarse bien, y luego una bañera con agua caliente que es compartida entre todos. Después de ducharme, y meterme en la bañera, debo decir que el agua olía raro. Muy raro. Es cierto que la bañera parecía disponer de algún tipo de filtrado...pero me habría gustado que en algún lugar explicasen que tipo de higiene se usaba en ese agua que era utilizada por todos, ya que no se si todas las personas que usaron la bañera antes se habían lavado bien o no, y saber que tipo de filtrado o desinfección tenia ese agua habría sido interesante. He estado en otros baños públicos, y el agua no olía a nada, y este no era el caso. Y no estaba cristalina del todo. Daba un poquito de repelús en ese sentido. Lo demás estaba limpio (wc, y demás) pero la bañera me dejó un poco de mal sabor de boca. Luego tuvimos la mala pata de cuando paseábamos a cierta distancia del hotel, calló un mini diluvio. Solo teníamos un par de zapatillas, y al día siguiente nos íbamos a hacer la ruta Nakasendo a primera hora de la mañana. Le pedimos ayuda a la persona que estaba en recepción, por si había alguna manera de que pudiéramos secar las zapatillas para al día siguiente no hacer la ruta con los pies mojados y pasar todo el día con las zapatillas empapadas. Es cierto que ese no era su problema, pero pasó de nosotros olímpicamente. Me habría encantado un poco de empatía por su parte de al menos intentar ayudarnos.

Der Weg von Bus bis zum Ryokan ist mit Koffern eher schwierig. Die Ausstattung ist sehr traditionell japanisch mit WC und Duschen am Gang, was teilweise etwas kompliziert war, da viele gleichzeitig duschen gehen wollten.

Reviewed Aug 30, 2026Magome Chaya is a well run Japanese hostel in an exceptional location. The facilities are clean and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Staff is kind. If you notify them in advance, they will prepare a lovely dinner for you. It appears there are some private rooms, but the hostel bunk area is curtained off and fairly private. The location and atmosphere of the town after the tourist crowds have left is unforgettable.
Really enjoyed my stay. It is a hostel so there is that…but for what it is, I highly recommend.

Reviewed Aug 30, 2026Bella locanda tradizionale su un antico sentiero postale Magome Tsumago Bagni in comune ma puliti esperienza da fare per vivere un'esperienza di un Giappone antico dove abbiamo dormito su futon tradizionali e ci è stato dato in dotazione anche uno yukata che abbiamo indossato per la cena, molto buona e consigliatissima.
Attiverei la possibilità di pagare in anticipo su booking oppure in loco con carta di credito, attualmente la struttura accetta solo pagamento in contanti

Il dormitorio è molto pulito, spazioso e silenzioso; ci sono delle tende che separano il singolo letto a castello dagli altri, creando delle piccole "stanze". I bagni in comune sono sempre stati molto puliti e non affollati. Consiglio la cena tradizionale che viene servita alle 18.00: buonissima e con piatti tipici locali (abbiamo mangiato la carne cruda di cavallo, deliziosa!). Lo staff è accogliente e parla inglese.

Il check in alle 16 e il check out alle 9 di mattina onestamente non l’ho mai visto. Qui a Magome sono fuori un pochino dal mondo ed hanno tutti orari tutti loro. Detto con il cuore ♥️ 🙏

Rooms are comfortable and it’s cool enough at night (late august) to sleep with the windows open and listen to crickets and water creeks while falling asleep.. plus the gorgeous views!
A little pricier for a hostel but it’s manageable for a one night stay. All food and drinks in the common areas is for another extra fee as well.

Most people travel through the village much faster, but we really liked to enjoy and relax in the village, especially after the hike on the postal route. The staff was very friendly. Showers are hot and clean and there are laundry machines available. There is also a kitchen that guests can use. We LOVED the dinners that we had on both nights, especially the second night.

Reviewed Aug 28, 2026Camas cómodas, me tocó un espacio tranquilo y limpio. El personal fue amable y no necesitas hacer check-on en habitaciones compartidas. Baños limpios que cuentan con secador de cabello. Aire acondicionado frio en habitaciones, se agradece en verano.
La puerta de las habitaciones de mujeres compartida suena lo suficientemente cuando se abre y cierra como para espantarte el sueño, o al menos en la litera que esta aun lado de la puerta.

Repas traditionnel très copieux, à ne surtout pas manquer! D'autant qu'il n'existe pas vraiment d'alternatives pour dîner dans le village le soir.
Pas de petit-déjeuner.

Reviewed Aug 23, 2026Prachtige locatie in één van de best bewaarde post-dorpen langs de Nakasendo route. ‘‘s avonds zijn alle dagjesmensen weg en krijgt het dorp een totaal andere sfeer. Daar alle privé kamers volboekt waren hebben we in de slaapzaal overnacht. Iedereen deed z’n best om de stilte te bewaren maar ik vond het toch fijn om oordopjes te hebben. Het avondeten is een aanrader en er is trouwens anders heel weinig aanbod in het dorpje.
Een paar extra wastafels naast de twee (perfecte) douches zou welkom zijn.

Prende solo cash. Non c'è possibilità di colazione, ma c'è un bar occidentale molto carino molto più in basso della strada centrale ed è gestibile facendo colazione lì prima di iniziare il Nakasendo trail.

Della struttura niente purtroppo se ci sono altri ospiti che fanno troppa confusione anche sul tardi si sente praticamente tutto ma non è una cosa ovviamente da incolpare la struttura

Reviewed Aug 15, 2026Vam estar-hi una nit i molt a gust, l’hostal es agradable, tranquil, dormint en futons al terra que ens sembla d’allò mes còmode.
Per una banda, diria que tenint en compte la gent que hi dorm, hi ha pocs banys i dutxes. Per altra banda, el check-out es extremadament d’hora, entenc que s’ha de netejar tot, però em sembla que no fa falta posar el check out a les 9am. I, per últim, vam reservar el sopar amb ells i va estar tot ok i molt variat però car pel que va ser, igual perquè veníem de fer altres menús així molt millors. Ens tornaríem a allotjar aquí però no tornaria a pagar el que valia el sopar.

Reviewed Aug 15, 2026Schönes altes Gasthaus mitten im alten Ort, wobei man mit dem Auto von hinten zufahren kann (Achtung Stufen - Rucksack sicher besser als Rollkoffer - aber es geht). Zweimal das beste Essen auf unserer ganzen dreiwöchigen Japanreise gegessen - gute bodenständige Kost, ohne Schnickschnack und doch absolut fein zubereitet! Die Wanderung ist nett, wenngleich man immer wieder die Straße kreuzt. Man kann bequem mit dem Bus zurückfahren. Dusche kann man absperren.
Ein größerer Außenbereich wäre praktisch, weil man am Abend, wenig Möglichkeiten hat, draußen zu sitzen (und das Haus gut gebucht ist). Es ist wie in einer Berghütte, aber das ist absolut ok.

Reviewed Aug 14, 2026Sve je bilo odlično. Imala sam osećaj da sam se vratila u vreme samuraja spavajući u tradicionalnoj japanskoj sobi na tatamiju. Bilo je ovo najčistije zajedničko kupatilo ikada, i ostatak objekta je bio sav divno čist i uredan, posteljina bela i mirisna. Za večeru smo se dvoumili da li da je uzimamo ali nakon pozitivnih recenzija odlučili smo se za jednu i bila je odlična.

Reviewed Aug 10, 2026De ligging is fantastisch en je kunt een uitgebreid diner bijboeken. Dit is echt de moeite waard! De kamer is heel basic maar prima voor 1 nacht. Je kan je omkleden in een yukata (soort kimono).
De futonbedden waren wat hard, maar dit is normaal. Je kan ook geen comfort van een normaal bed verwachten. Wij hebben het opgelost door twee futonbedden + extra dekbed op elkaar te leggen. De douches zijn letterlijk gezamenlijk, ze hebben daarnaast 2 privedouches. Goed om te weten ;)

The mattress was a bit hard, and the pillow was similar to a bean bag. I kinda liked it, simple and functional. My son had a bit of a back ache when he woke up 😅

Reviewed Aug 7, 2026Een heerlijk verblijf op een magische plek. Magome staat in onze top 3 van de reis. En de sfeer als traditioneel Japans hostel is erg fijn. Ruim plek om in gezamenlijk ruimtes spullen in de koelkast te leggen, iets op te warmen, te eten etc. Prima gedeelde douches en prima kamers met allemaal een eigen referentie naar Hiroshiges Nakasendo werken. Het bijgeboekte avondeten was echt geweldig! Zoveel lekkere dingen, heel bijzondere ervaring. En Magome is heerlijk om 's avonds tegen schemering nog een keer rond te lopen.

Reviewed Aug 4, 2026Établissement situé au cœur du joli village de Magome où l'on dort sur des futons à même le sol. Des cabines de douche sont également disponibles si on ne veut pas utiliser la salle de bain partagée. Le dîner était copieux et composé de plusieurs plats typiques de la région. La salle commune dispose de quelques jeux de cartes.
Les futons étaient un peu durs (mais je pense que c'est parce que nous n'avions pas l'habitude 😅).

Reviewed Aug 4, 2026Emplacement au cœur du village donc vraiment top. Place de parking gratuite pour notre voiture. Guest house très bien équipée : micro ondes, frigo, bouilloire… La salle commune est vaste et bien équipée. Notre chambre de 4 était assez grande, joliment décorée et les matelas étaient super. Belle luminosité dans la chambre. Douches communes mais cela ne nous dérange pas.
Le repas du soir est bon mais vraiment trop cher par rapport au reste du Japon. Dès que l’un de nous avait fini de manger on lui débarrassait tout son plateau même si les autres n’avaient pas fini. On sent vraiment qu’il faut manger et partir rapidement. Assez désagréable. De plus repas à 18h sans autre choix c’est vraiment beaucoup trop tôt ! Il fait encore grand soleil dehors. Mur vraiment pas isolé donc vous entendez tous les voisins de chambre parler et dans les couloir aussi. Et le matin beaucoup se préparent des 5h30 pour randonner.

Unica caduta di stile: siamo arrivati prima delle 15.00 (ora del check in), ci hanno fatto lasciare i bagagli ma non mi hanno permesso di usare il bagno.

買える飲み物が限られていました。 周りのお店も早くに閉まってしまうのでもう少し種類があると良かったです。 無料のお茶がありましたがコーヒーもあるともっと良かったです。 18時までに到着しないと夕飯は頼めなかったのですが、バスで行くには18：30着になってしまうので利用できませんでした。

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026We stayed for two nights. Location is amazing, rooms quite spacious, futons comfortable, air conditioner working. Generally nice vibe of a communal living.
For the number of guests - definitely not enough bathrooms and toiletts - assuming each room has at least 2 people, zou have about 10+ rooms and only 4 women toilets, 4 men toilets, 2 and 2 shared showers and 2 "private" ones. In morning "prime time" it is not enough. Breakfast is not offered by the property. Dinner is offered at an absurd price of a high end restaurant. Instant coffee is for sale at the property for absurd 200 yen, as is water - a bottle for a price higher than in the nearby vending machine. They are clearly making a lot of money with tourists, and the prices are unfair.

Reviewed Jul 25, 2026This was my favourite place to stay during our 2 weeks in Japan. Magome town in the evening after the tourists leave is like something out of a fairytale or fantasy book. It is so beautiful wherever you look. The dinner was also some of the best food I have ever had. The room was quite comfortable and we slept very well. I would highly recommend this place.

Reviewed Jul 25, 2026We loved the inn as a whole -- the beauty of the space, the energy of it, the staff, and our room. The very best part was the dinner, which the inn charges for (rightly so) and needs advanced notice since they use good, fresh ingredients. Though the food was challenging for our kid, we adults were happy to try new foods. On the night we arrived, the dinner was a grilled white fish, a mushroom-tofu-pork stew, cold soba noodles with wasabi, a plate of tempura, 3 fine slices of raw horse meet, rice and pudding. There are a few great cafes in town with good coffee, though everything pretty much closes around 5pm. There is just one restaurant in town that is open in the evenings, which is 2 doors down from the inn and also excellent. The trail to Tsumago was easily accessible by foot.
My daughter wasn't used to using a communal bathroom, but I think the experience was a good one for her.

Showers were clean and lockers provided for valuables. Dinner was good. Plus point: picturesque watermills located right outside the Chaya.
