The lookout lodge

Vi blev taget så godt imod og hele personalet var så søde! Vi havde brug for at komme lidt væk fra byen så det var helt perfekt. De var gode til at hjælpe med både transport og gode spisesteder! Morgenmaden var virkelig lækker, og de havde gjort meget ud af det. Vi var de eneste der boede der så han var meget fleksibel med tidspunkter i forhold til checkout time hvilket var super dejligt.

Vi var der i lavsæson så mange af restauranterne var lukkede.

Gelegen op ca. 10 min. wandelen van de oceaan. We gingen op aanraden van de eigenaar zeeschildpadden spotten met een gids. Een fantastische ervaring! De Lookout Lodge heeft slechts enkele appartementen en is met het heerlijke zwembad en de mooie beplanting rondom een klein paradijsje. Je wordt er hartelijk ontvangen en je voelt je er meteen thuis. Verzorgd ontbijt. In de buurt zijn diverse kleine eetgelegenheden. Wij genoten van een lekkere maaltijd in Ruwani restaurant.

Een prachtige accommodatie met mooie tuin en lekker zwembad. Op de bovenste verdieping mooi uitzicht. Personeel bijzonder vriendelijk en het eten zowel ontbijt als diner heerlijk.

Amazing place, amazing room, amazing food and amazing people!

Super mooie accommodatie! De fotos komen precies overeen met de werkelijkheid. Hele ruime kamers en een mooi zwembad. Locatie is perfect ten opzichte van turtle beach, we hebben baby turtles gezien!!

Het ontbijt was niet super uitgebreid.

Bellissima struttura immersa nel verde, situata in una zona tranquilla e silenziosa, lontana dal traffico e perfetta per rilassarsi, a 10 min a piedi si raggiunge facilmente la spiaggia. Lo staff è stato estremamente gentile e disponibile, è venuto incontro alle nostre esigenze sia per gli orari di check-in sia per le intolleranze alimentari.

La struttura è piuttosto isolata rispetto al centro e nei dintorni non ci sono altre abitazioni/hotel. Questo rende quasi indispensabile avere un mezzo per spostarsi, inoltre, di sera le strade della zona sono poco illuminate.

Very beautiful and super clean lodge. Very modern rooms, great fresh breakfast, super friendly host, amazing gardens and relaxing swimming pool. Everything was perfect. For us, after already two weeks traveling in Sri Lanka, this was by far the best and most relaxing stay.

this was our favorite stay in Sri Lanka! The room and bathroom was beautiful and very comfortable. Our little balcony had a great view and was a lovely place to relax. We spend a good amount of time relaxing near the pool (our kids loved it as well). We loved our breakfast, which changed every day, but always included a generous amount of the best tropical fruit. Very friendly owner! The area has a couple nice and tiny restaurants in walking distance and the turtle conservation beach is also nearby. Great!

Really clean and comfortable guest house in Rekawa. We came here for the turtle watching at night, which was a short walk away. There are a number of restaurants on the way so this guest house is very well located. Breakfast was great, and the room very spacious. We loved the pool.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour avec nos deux enfants ! Tout a été parfait ! Le petit déjeuner est très copieux (le meilleur de tout notre séjour) et change tous les jours. La piscine est très agréable ainsi que le personnel. La localisation à Rekawa est très appréciable (nature). Bonnes adresses de restaurants à proximité. Il y a également une super adresse de massage ayurvedic pas loin.

Such a tranquil place to stay. We'd been on the go for a few days and The Lookout Lodge was a wonderful place to relax. Waking up to birdsong was a delight. The breakfasts we had were delicious and just enough without too much waste. We had two peaceful sleeps, as the bed was comfy and the pillows the best we've slept on during the 14 days of our trip.

Nice and clean small hotel, staff were lovely.

Not of fault of the hotel but, do note this hotel is out in the sticks. Although there are restaurants around all but one was shut when we stayed and we hunted around for ages. It’s not really a tourist area. Some toast would have been nice with breakfast to go with the eggs.

Bardzo ładny hotel w cichej okolicy. Czyste pokoje. Basen codziennie czyszczony (niestety nie jest to standard na Sri Lance). Właściciele bardzo mili. Jedno z najlepszych miejsc w jakim zatrzymaliśmy się na Sri Lance.

Le jardin et la piscine exceptionnelle donnent envie de rester longtemps. Bien placé à côté des plages désertes.

L’hôtel est très confortable : les chambres sont spacieuses et propres, la piscine et le jardin sont très agréables, le petit déjeuner et très apprécié (il change tous les matins et est faits maisons) L’hôtel est un peu à l’écart de la ville mais vite accessible en scooter. Il y a cependant quelques restaurants accessibles à pieds.

Die Betten waren für mich persönlich etwas hart, ansonsten wirklich perfekt.

I don’t usually mind a hard mattress, but the bed was very hard, it would have been nice to have a topper.

Sehr schöne Unterkunft, sehr sauber und stilvoll. Garten und Pool waren super zum relaxen und das Tierparadies direkt vor der Tür konnte man toll vom Balkon aus beobachten. Die Gastgeber waren sehr nett und das Abendessen sowie Frühstück absolut lecker! Klare Empfehlung :)

Bett und Kissen etwas zu hart/klein. Auflagen auf den Möbeln wären noch toll, da man überall sehr hart sitzt. Mehr Steckdosen im Zimmer wären super.

Świetny apartament w spokojnej okolicy. Śniadania zróżnicowane z pyszną lokalną kuchnią. Na miejscu wszystko czego potrzeba. Niedaleko apartamentu znajdują się cudowne plaże. Są też restauracje gdzie można wieczorem coś zjeść.

Gintare est aux petits soins et hyper réactive. Un grand merci à elle et pour son accueil. Son équipe est adorable également. La maison et piscine sont très agréables. Petits déjeuners ok

Le lit pour enfant qui grince, peut être à revoir. Pas mal de fourmis qui entrent dans la chambre. L'éloignement de Tangalle mais heureusement quelques restaurants pas trop loin ainsi qu'une plage à moins de 10mn à pieds. Le manque de prises dans la chambre.

Gastfreundlichkeit und das super gute Essen.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Lookout Lodge. It is a beautiful tranquil villa set in gorgeous palm filled gardens with only five rooms overlooking a large lagoon. The only noise was from the amazing birdsong in the mornings: peacocks, bulbuls, babblers, fly-catchers and parrots. Communication from Gintara was brilliant from the start, and Chami, the owner/manager was fantastic and the girls in the kitchen full of smiles. Breakfasts were amazing and different everyday with various combinations of delicious fruit and Sri Lankan dishes. We didn't want to leave!

Dit verblijf is echt super mooi. Het is niet groot, als in niet heel veel kamers, wat het juist perfect maakt. Het zwembad is echt prachtig en de kamers zijn echt heel ruim. De eigenaren waren altijd bereikbaar voor alles, ook op whatsapp. Binnen no time had je antwoord op al je vragen. Elke dag krijg je een ander ontbijtje of een andere variatie. Toen we zeiden dat de badkamer raar rook, werd per direct iets vervangen in de douche. Je hebt er verder alles wat je nodig hebt!

Un hôtel vraiment incroyable, tout près de la plage où nous avons vu notre plus beau coucher de soleil. Très bon petit déjeuner, les hôtes sont très serviables et il y a une belle piscine.

Wonderful, very clean accommodation with the most beautiful pool we’ve experienced so far. Very friendly and family-like service, and an incredible variety of exotic wildlife, especially birds. Secluded dream beaches within walking distance (though unfortunately very rough at this time of year). Lots of restaurants just a few minutes’ walk away. A true piece of authentic Sri Lanka. Thanks also for the nice birthday surprise for my daughter! Unforgettable stay!

Beautiful pool and very comfortable room. Great breakfast and one evening we got the home cooked dinner - a delicious selection of curries! Very peaceful location and within walking distance of the beach and turtle sanctuary which is definitely worth a visit at nighttime. Would definitely recommend!

Room and common area facilities was spacious and clean. Great that it's small setting for 4 rooms only. Hosts are responsive to questions and coordinating activities!

Great to have toiletries provided, and breakfast can be better. Note: location is quiet and relaxed but not in central tangalle. Would recommend having a scooter or tuk tuk if more than ~2 days.

We had an amazing stay! The new, clean pool was a definite highlight, and the air conditioning in the room was fantastic – especially considering how hot it was. The location is very remote, but the owner is more than happy to help with tuk-tuk arrangements if you need them. We had dinner at the property, which was a bit on the expensive side but definitely worth it – the fresh fish was absolutely delicious. The breakfast was decent, though not the best we've had in Sri Lanka, and I think it could be improved, especially for the value of money. One thing to note is that the bathroom didn’t have a mosquito net, and a frog entered our room during the night, which was a bit unexpected. However, the owner was really nice when we asked for help and made sure everything was taken care of. We also had an incredible wildlife experience – we saw monkeys, squirrels, peacocks, and even a Komodo dragon near the beach! It was such a unique touch to the stay. The pool was really well-maintained, but one downside was that there weren’t enough sunbeds for the 4 rooms, which could be an issue when it’s busier. Overall, a great stay with some minor improvements needed, but we would definitely recommend it for a relaxing getaway!

Wonderful hotel in a very beautiful location. Everything is very clean and well maintained. Clean and very beautiful swimming pool. The owner, and hotel manager Gintarė is very friendly and always ready to help. The breakfast is very delicious, and we don’t even have anything to say about the dinner, it’s just amazing. The stay was wonderful, I definitely recommend everyone to visit.

Beautiful place located very close to a beautiful beach and away from noise and crowds. You can relax and enjoy the charms it offers by starting the day with a delicious breakfast, something different is served every day. The owner takes great care of the satisfaction of his guests and also likes to cook. In particular, the hit dish with fresh shrimp stole our hearts, we highly recommend it - it is delicious, and the portion will surprise everyone, it is huge 🦐🦐🦐 The host, hearing that we would like to taste red fish 🎏🎣🐟 ordered and prepared it especially for us ❤️ thank you once again for your hospitality and care for making us feel good, we highly recommend it to everyone, a big thank you to the owner and manager, who made our stay incredibly pleasant 🥰

The Lookout Lodge in Rekawa was absolutely beautiful – the best place we stayed at in Sri Lanka! Everything was super clean, the pool was fantastic, and the breakfasts were amazing. Every morning, we got a different breakfast, and each one was delicious. The place is peaceful, which makes it perfect for relaxing. Right in front of the lodge, there are ponds with beautiful birds, which adds to the charm of the place. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful – they even arranged lovely birthday decorations for my sister, which was such a nice surprise. The area is stunning, very quiet, and the nearby beaches are completely empty, with sea turtles everywhere.

We had the most amazing time. The host is attentive, relaxed and cares about details. The roomes were spotless just like the pool. Good wifi and great breakfast. He also provides filtered wather. By far our best stay in Sri Lanka. We would highly recommend this place.

It is in a very quiet area, 10 minutes walk to the beach. The rooms are spacious, very clean, very well ventilated (the air is very clean, not like other accommodations in Sri Lanka). The garden is very beautiful and well maintained. The pool is chic and very clean, the water has a perfect temperature. The owners are very friendly and always willing to help you. They can cook you a delicious, fresh dinner, cooked on the spot, or they can organize various excursions in the area (safari, temple visit, kayaking on the lagoon, etc.). The breakfast is rich and very tasty, with fruit from the owners' garden. The atmosphere in the area is very quiet, there are not many tourists, you can meet locals which gives the place a truly authentic atmosphere.

You feel you are close to nature. Lodge feels new and fresh. Bathroom is nice, a European standard, so not common. But most of all owner and manager give each tourist attention and are open to help. We had a great dinner at the lodge, so it’s worth trying, owner is a man of many talents. Last but not least pool is well maintained and water felt great like silk. Beach is close by, waves were crashing hard but if you swim further it’s calm.

Nothing, everything was great. This is a place for people who want to get away from a city, so location is a bit secluded, but that’s the point. You can explore different beaches and walk on a shoreline like we did, we came back using tuk-tuk.

Very friendly management. Can advise you on activities in the area. Provided lovely fresh made meals. Air con good and nice new swimming pool. No traffic noise at night. A good spot for bird sighting and easy walk to a large lagoon area and the beautiful local beach.

We stayed here in October. It was absolutely the most wonderful place we stayed in Sri Lanka. Felt like we walked into paradise! The whole place has a peaceful vibe. The garden and swimming pool are just lovely. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The hotel is walking distance from the most beautiful beach and the owner is so incredibly friendly. We only booked one night and wish we could have stayed longer. Definitely a place we want to go back to!

We loved everything

A lovely place in the quiet part of Tanglle. We booked at the last minute and they were ready for us with an early check-in early and a very nice welcome drink. The owner Gintarė and manager Chami were very helpful, organising transport to The other side of Tanglle and to Mirissa. The wetlands near the lodge had many birds which was a bonus. Highly recommended.

Very pretty 4-bedroom house. The pool is very well maintained. Good breakfast which changes everyday.

24$ a dinner for 2... it's indecent when you know that you can dine right next door to a very good local cuisine for 5$. Like many establishments in Sri Lanka, the owner is foreign. This makes the experience less exotic. Do not expect a homestay since no one lives there.

This was the most beautiful place we stayed in our whole vacation in Sri Lanka. The room and bathroom were very big and clean and just perfect, the pool is an amazing assat also. But the most important thing is that the hosts, Gintare and Chami, were extremly frendly and helpful. They fulfilled our every wish. The food they prepared for us was also the best we ever had. We can not recommend this place enough!

The staff are friendly and willing to make your stay a pleasant one. Pool was nice and the nights were quiet. Food was excellent. Would stay again.

The Lookout Lodge is simply amazing. It’s an oasis which has been developed with much love and care. The people running it are wonderful, the rooms are clean and stylish and the swimming pool is perfect. It’s a 5 minute walk to the (empty) beach and a 10 min walk to the turtle rescue center. It only has four rooms so it’s quiet and private. You have a unique view of the lagoon with all kinds of animals, and peacocks that love to use the roof of the lodge!

It was a beautiful building, very comfortable, wonderful view; so many lovely birds, enormous balcony, very nice room, lovely bathroom. I felt like a queen. Clean beach near by! Everyone was extremely nice and very helpful!

One of the best experiences in Sri lanka trip within 3 weeks. Amazing place, not only appartment but all Rekava. Definately one of the most underrated places in Sri lanka. If you are in doubts - you definately should go there. Peace, silence, nature, ocean, turtles, amazing people - this is Rekava. Lookout lodge is excelent accomodation - new house, all clean and comfy, perfect location near the beach and turtle watch center. Good restaurant nearby (reccomended by Chami). Excelent breakfast and peacefull conversations with owner. We felt like home there and all our wishes were fulfilled with smile. And - there is a pool now - we where the first users and it is great. Appriciated by our boys. Sorry that we booked just 2 nights there, would have liked to stay at least a couple more days. Functional shower in the bathroom, boiler for heating water.

Lots of ants in the bathroom on the first day. After complaining, the staff used a spray and promised to clean up the next day. But that didn't happen and we had dead ants there for the rest of our stay (3 nights). Breakfast was poor, portions like for a small child. On the last day, when the manager came, the breakfast was better, but we still had to ask for bread for the omelet.. We had to ask for milk for the coffee. Noisy air conditioning. We had to turn it off at night and only use the fan..No value for money...

Very nice place with only for rooms in a calm area surrounded by a nice garden. The rooms are spacious,super clean and stylish. The owners were so nice and and made us feel comfortable and like home. Its just 8min walk to a long & empty beach and in the area you can find enough restaurants or ask for dinner at lookout lodge. We rented a scooter so we were flexible to explore the whole area with many beautiful beach spots. Definately reccomend this wonderful place!

The place is very nice, well-kept, full of greenery and quiet - despite the intimate road next to the hotel. Opposite the hotel there is a reservoir where a variety of birds come to nest. In the morning we listened to their songs. It was also the first time we saw a mouse-deer in person. :D The room is spacious and clean, as is the bathroom. The air conditioning helps with the heat. We really enjoyed the breakfasts - especially the scrambled eggs, the omelette and the pancake with coconut and caramelised sugar/honey. The manager was very helpful and flexible and updated the number of days we stayed without any problems. Last but not least was the host of the place. Speaking good English, communicative and not afraid of a joke, he made us feel at home.

It would be nice to have a kettle and tea in the room, so you could sit on the terrace in the evenings and drink it in the beautiful natural surroundings. As it is difficult to use the water at the nearby beach due to the large waves, it would be great if there was small swimming pool for guests. The owner said it was planned, so we'll keep our fingers crossed :)

Most loved place during our trip. We felt treated like family. All food was cooked by Jammy and was extraodinary delicious. Allways fresh fruits, superb seafood. Free trinking water from big multiuse bottles. We enjoyed this environmental offer. Large clean room. Nice large balcony with view to a beautiful garden.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks. Very nice large rooms, large balcony. The second floor has a high ceiling. Very tasty breakfasts. For dinner we had the best rockfish I had ever eaten. Everything in the hotel was of high quality - mattress, linen, towels. Excellent hot water pressure. The hotel was in a quiet location. One beach was a 5 minute walk, the other was in 10 minutes. The beaches are picturesque, huge, empty. One morning we walked several kilometers and met 3 persons. We saw many traces of large sea turtles. They crawl out of the sea at night and lay eggs at Rekawa beach. Swimming here is difficult because of the waves, but it is possible in small bays behind the rocks. Every day we met peacocks, monitor lizards, and monkeys. We were very grateful to Gintare and Chamy for their hospitality. Thanks to them, my birthday with cake and balloons was wonderful. They were always ready to help with any question. We hope to come here next year. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone who loves silence and nature!
