Eine wunderschöne Unterkunft mit einer tollen Aussicht ! Super leckeres Frühstück und Abendessen. Nelum hat uns sehr gut beraten und für die Wanderung durch den Regenwald einen super sympathischen und kompetenten Guide (Kumara) empfohlen.

Spreek met deze locatie duidelijke prijzen af! Vooraf hadden wij een regenwoud tour met gids voor 4 personen geboekt voor 45 us dollar. Toen we vertrokken bleek dit per persoon te zijn! Onze driver vertelde later dat 5000 lkr per persoon gangbaar is. We hebben hier echt veel te veel betaald! Dus vraag bij alles wat het kost per persoon.

Wir hatten eine unglaublich schöne Zeit bei Nellum und seinem Team.. so herzliche und hilfsbereite Menschen, leckeres einheimisches Essen, eine einfache, aber für uns wundervolle Hütte mit offenem Bad und Blick ins Grün. Abends konnten wir dem Dschungel lauschen und Glühwürmchen beobachten. Am erste Tag hat uns Nellum eine tolle Tour in den Dschungel organisiert, für den zweiten haben wir super Tipps bekommen, um die Umgebung zu erkunden.

The place gives a homey feeling, the staff and the owner are really kind and lots of fun and the chef is amazing! They helped us organize all kinds of things and their recommened guide was fantastic! Would definitely stay here again 😍

El trato que nos dió el dueño desde principio a fin fue genial. Nos ayudó en todo, nos vino a recoger a la estación de autobús, nos dió muy buenos consejos para continuar nuestro viaje y hasta me prestó unos prismáticos. La comida estaba muy buena y nos la ofrecían allí en el mismo lugar. La habitación de 3 aunque no tenía AC era muy espaciosa y poco calurosa. Con un baño correcto y unas camas cómodas. El alojamiento está en lo alto de un cerro de lo que parece ser bosque nuboso, es increíble levantarse con las nieblas matutinas y en definitiva sientes que vives en un lugar muy rico naturalmente hablando. En la noche salí a pasear con mi amiga y me encantó el paseo. Mención aparte merecen las actividades que se pueden reservar en el alojamiento. Tienen el contacto del guía más apasionado y de valor que me encontré en todo Sri Lanka, Kumara. Con el hicimos un paseo por el parque sinharaja donde nos dió un montón de información y se le notaba que le gustaba darla. Al día siguiente fui a hacer birdwatching con el y cuando encontrábamos un pájaro no sé quién acompañaba a quien de la emoción que se le veía jajaja, es un crack. Muchas gracias, sin lugar a duda Sinharaja ha sido uno de los highlights de mi viaje a Sri Lanka y tengo la certeza de que Sinharaja Rest ha tenido una gran influencia en ello para que todo salga bien. Si puedo, volveré. Si pueden, vengan.

Es cierto que la comida no tenía mucha variedad y se agradecería tener algo más que rice and curry. Si te quedas un par de noches se te hará repetitivo.

Lovely stay in the jungle. The room was comfortable and Nelum was an incredibly helpful and friendly host along with the rest of the team. He helped us with the right price tuk tuks to and from the town and with organising a jungle tour and guide for us. The meals they provided for us were very tasty made with local ingredients, but a little on the pricy side compared to what you would get in the town. But they were in a nice setting and very convenient. Overall it was a very nice stay.

We spent 4 nights and 3 full days at Sinharaja Rest and our guide Kuma who was organized by the resthouse. Our host Nelum and the staff were exceptional - the food delicious, the place fantastically located in the middle of nature. We saw so many rare birds and other wildlife already just at the doorstep of the chalet and in the surrounding garden and area. My husband is a biologist and we are both hobby photographers and birdwatchers, so we asked for a specialized bird guide - and Kuma is amazing. It was an absolute pleasure to spend these 3 days with him in stunning Sinharaja on different tours. He is very knowledgeable about birds, plants and all wildlife and showed us so many amazing things. Our third day we spent together with Nelum and Kuma mainly driving around in a van, looking for birds and wildlife, and stopping for short walks on the way because I wasn't able to go on a strenuous hike that day. We saw so many stunning things but Nelum also invited us to his family where we experienced the wonderful hospitality and culture of Sri Lanka: we shared tea together and tasted all kinds of different fruits fresh from the garden. But what made this whole stay and especially this day such outstanding was the kindness and thoughtfulness of Nelum and Kuma to make this day possible in the first place despite my physical limitations. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this unforgettable experience and memory that will stay with me forever for the rest of my life. It was such a pleasure and honor to meet you both and spend this time together. I hope we meet again soon! So if you are looking for an exceptional experience in Sinharaja - there is no better place. Highly recommended!

Delightful people, always ready to help, plan and talk about the amazing Sinharaja area. Comfortable cabin in the forest. Huge amounts of delicious veggie food. Fruit, eggs, toast for breakfast. Forest walks, swimming, seeing the flora and fauna with knowledgable guide, Kumar. Such care and thought. Thank you. Highly recommended.

The people and the vibe are amazing , good food and company every night and the host will easily help you organize a Guided Tour in the forest. I definitely recommend this place.

The beds are a bit hard but I liked it. Only thing I didn't like was that there was no AC and it can get pretty hot even in the night.

Very friendly, excellent Sri Lankan food. Well organised tour with an excellent guide for a full day in the rainforest. The guest house was quiet with fan and mosquito net. Very good value for money.

There was an air con in the room but it was broken, the bathroom was very dated. Ceiling fan was noisy during the night

A lovely unusual place, individual bungalows hidden in the trees with beautiful views from the balcony. The shower is partially open to the sky so you can hear the birds as you shower. Delicious food is served in an airy covered but open sided area so again you can hear and see the birds as you eat...we even saw fireflies one night! Our host, Nelum, was super helpful organising tours to Sinharaja for us and driving us on our long onward journey. The rest of the staff were also lovely. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it if you're looking for something a bit out of the ordinary.

Had two wonderful days at the Sinharaja rest, with the main attraction being a guided tour in the rainforest. Everything was organized by the friendly hotel staff and I could simply relax and enjoy. Thanks to Nelum and the team for making my stay special!

Be prepared for an hour drive to the rainforest, in my opinion nothing bad, but good to have in mind .

Lovely, peaceful place close to beautiful nature and always good contact with a host. One of the best places we have been sleeping during our two weeks stay in Sri Lanka. We regretted that we couldn't stay longer.

I had such a gorgeous stay that I extended from 3 nights to 5 nights. The property is nestled in some trees in a small village on top of a beautiful hill. There is wildlife all around, the food is excellent and the staff are so kind and helpful. Absolutely loved my stay and would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Sinharaja Rest. The food was super tasty, the staff were very kind and welcoming, and the location was peaceful and refreshing. Our room and washroom were exceptionally clean and comfortable. Everything was well organized, and the stay was very affordable. Would definitely visit again!

Prima Organisation eines Besuchs im Sinharaja Nationalpark. Unser Guide sprach extrem gut Englisch kannte sich in Flora und Fauna sehr gut aus und erklärte alles sehr gut! Der Tag hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Weiterhin gab es einen tollen Tipp für eine kleine Nachmittagstour in der Umgebung der Unterkunft. Die Hütte war sehr sauber und das Außenbad echt stylisch. Sowohl Frühstück als auch Abendessen waren sehr lecker. Also alles in allem sehr empfehlenswert.

住宿漂亮舒适，亲近自然，饭也不错（喝汤很舒服！）。鸟导Kumara很专业且敬业，找到了不少特有种，位置形容准确，翻图鉴超快，拍得少是我技术不行hhh他遵守当地保护规则，告诉我们要把斯里兰卡蓝鹊羽毛留在当地而不是带走。

Le gérant propose un day trip dans la forêt de Sinharaja qui s'aligne sur les prix très élevés proposés aux touristes. Nous avons préféré prendre un guide directement à l'entrée de la forêt.

Heel fijne staf, en heerlijk eten! Het is kleinschalig en op een heel rustige plek. Verder regelden zij een heel goede gids voor de rainforest,, dat was echt super. Was een van de mooiste plekken waar we geweest zijn in SriLanka.

La struttura stessa offre la possibilità di visita guidata: un tuc tuc ci ha portato all'ingresso e lì abbiamo incontrato la guida. Ci hanno preparato anche il pranzo a sacco da portare con noi. Personale molto disponibile, abbiamo anche cenato in struttura al nostro arrivo. Abbiamo chiesto del semplice pollo grigliato per i nostri figli e ci hanno accontentati Colazione inclusa, ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo

Our dearest memories in Sri Lanka. Quiet place for nature lovers. They made us feel like home. Food was delicious and in large amount. We also booked Sinharaja rainforest hike with them. Guide was really knowledgeable. We saw so many animals and learned a lot. Thank you!

We enjoyed our stay at Sinharaja Rest very much. Maps may not for some reasons show the exact directions as there is a newer road uphill that one should take to reach the place. Relying on map directions we ended knocking on the neighbours' door but they kindly showed us the right direction : ) The place is an excellent starting point for a rainforest tour. The host organized a six hour rainforest tour for us and also took us to the bus station when we left, so we were very well looked after. The rainforest tour was awesome! We saw lots of birds, some monkeys and some snakes and our guide was very knowledgeable. Special care should be taken to keep leeches off as they are hungry and crawl faster than you might imagine. We were provided leech socks by the host that kept most of them away, but I still donated some blood to a couple of leeches. It may be a good idea to take some adhesive bandages with you to stop the bleeding. Sinharaja Rest is located at the edge of the village, so one can sit on the terrace and absorb the village sounds and listen to birds singing. Great place if you’re interested visiting the rain forest 🌳 We did two excursions, specially the day walk was very memorable, very unique experience! We recommend doing that to everyone! The cabin was beautiful and clean with a lovely sitting area. So relaxing. Food was outstanding. And the host did his best to help us with the transport, such a kind person ( we came all the way from Ella). And the shower outside was special too:) THANK YOU

As octogenarians we found the footpaths and steps to our accommodation difficult as they were very uneven.

I loved my remote cabin in the forest, sitting outside drinking tea & listening to the birds singing. The host was really helpful, sending the location on Google maps & arranging a tuk tuk to take me to the bus station & make sure I got the right bus. Dinner was cooked for me both nights and the standard was really high, some of the best curries I’ve had in Sri Lanka. The breakfast was plentiful & delicious. On the day of my forest hike the guide picked me up at 6am. Nelum (the host) was up and had made an amazing packed breakfast to take with me.

We booked our bird tour guide with the property, Kumaru, he was exceptional and extremely knowledgeable. The staff at Sinharaja resort were also extremely helpful and accommodating. The treehouse is basic but value for money.

The stay was super nice because the room/cabin I had felt like my own apartment and it was perfect to be so close to nature and do the day trips to Sinharaja forest (which the host organized for me) and everything was cared for like a lunch pack and super delicious dinner on request- and great food every morning anyways:)) all of the people working at Sinharaja rest were so kind and helpful! Unrelated to the host, just about the experience in the immediate area: The area around is like a village, then town with paddy fields and everyday life happening, no jungle, that’s only when you enter the Sinharaja reserve with a guide. But that’s the case for all stays in that area.

We enjoyed everything at Sinharaja Rest from the warm welcome, the really delicious food, the forest walk with Bandula our excellent guide, to the interesting communal chats. Also being in such a wonderful environment with the bird song, forest noises and 'the nature' has been a joy. THANK YOU Nelum, Bandula, and your great team.

The welcome we received was wonderful. The hosts were friendly and generous, and knew the local area, transport drivers and nature guides well. The location on top of a hill afforded some lovely views from the rooms. Our room was basic but spacious with AC, a fridge, and a mosquito net for the bed. The shower and bathroom were outdoors, but sheltered.

Arrival was a bit hard due to the poor roads and the patchy accuracy of the maps in the immediate locale.

"We arrived at the property around 6:30 PM on January 11th, after making the booking nearly two weeks ago and confirming it with the owner. However, upon arrival, the chalet we had booked was not available, and we were offered a much smaller cottage instead. The location was in the middle of nowhere, and this completely ruined our long weekend vacation. The lack of professionalism and disregard for our confirmed booking was unacceptable. Very disappointed with this experience."

Really liked our stay here. Spacious apartment on a hill. We had complimentary tea over sunset and a generous breakfast spread of assorted fruits, toast and omelette. I slept really well! We didn't go with their Sinharaja tour, but learnt that the host's family were one of the pioneer guides for the rainforest. The host still kept the first book of past patron's comments since 1995! Would have loved to stay for a few more nights for the serenity and warm hospitality. Maybe next time! 😉

Nothing to fault. We actually booked another of their accoms some distance away months ago, but realised it was removed from Google and booking days before our stay, and thought we were scammed. We rebooked another accoms (this one), and was later clarified by the host that it was just a misunderstanding (he was recently married and closed the other house (opps). Congrats!).

Please, fix the location. your actual location is beautiful, but it can be confusing to people who want the stay close to the city, leading to bad reviews.

The perfect launch point for tours in the forest. The owner was very helpful, and his cousin an excellent guide (be sure to ask the tours from in-house). Also, they cooked perhaps the best rice & curry we had during our 4 weeks in Sri Lanka. Thank you!

Magical cabin set in the woods. It is so peaceful and calm. Staff were lovely, and the food was excellent. We did the guided walk through the forest, with a local guide who was so knowledgeable, we saw lots of different species. I would highly recommend doing this.

They organised a tour for us in the rainforest with Achi which was such a lovely experience. This stay was definitely a highlight of our time in Sri Lanka.

This is a very special place, with a genuinely warm welcome. The setting and hospitality were second to none. The food was absolutely first class and the best we've had in Sri Lanka.

We loved everything about it. The accommodation is basic and some people might find that a problem, but we found that everything else more than made up for that.

The food was excellent. The staff were so helpful and the guided walk that we did was enjoyable.

Access is a little difficult

I really liked the open washroom. It’s like having a shower in the nature. And really liked the balcony too. Comfortable and spacious room.

The breakfast was excellent and the location was superb. I can't praise this hilltop bungalow set in beautiful rainforest too highly. If you like observing nature, there there are forest walks guided by the host, who showed us some amazing creatures, such as the bluefaced leaf monkey and the kangaroo lizard. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I saw the one bird I went to Sri Lanka for, right there in the garden, the paradise flycatcher. The family who own the place are such nice people.

I enjoyed staying at Sinharaja Rest! A very quiet place with a beautiful garden and nice views on the mountains. Food is very good and personal very friendly. I could go to the Sinharaja Forest with a knowledgeable guide, and had a great time birding with him!

Near Sinharaja forest. Very quiet and calm place. Peackocs will visit you in the apartment. Achi and Bandulla will show you the best things of natural and people of the the place. Authentic people, thank you!

Location, food, nature, people. Everything was absolutely fantastic! First of all, we were in the jungle, close to plantations with rice fields in which peacocks live (!). It looks amazing. Nelum organized a trip to the jungle for us. His brother Achi was a great guide so we saw a lot of animals: hanging parrots, kingfishers, monkesy, snakes, spiders, chameleons, lizards and a civet (!) on the terrace. The sounds of chipmunks, birds, monkeys and an elephant (?) woke us up in the morning. Sinharaja Rest offers really delicious food. Don't hesitate to buy dinners even if you bought BB only. One more thing: the hotel is built on the rock which can be seen inside!!!
