Blooming Rose Ella

Prachtig uitzicht vanaf het terras van onze kamers op Ella Rock, little Adams peak, de trein en een waterval. Een hele vriendelijke, trotse eigenaar die het samen met zijn 2 zoons runt. Heerlijk ontbijt.

Er is een steile weg naar de accommodatie die niet elke auto/minivan kan of durft te nemen. Maar dat is niet echt een probleem, want je wordt door de zoons met de tuktuk naar boven gebracht, evenals de koffers. De kamers zijn vrij eenvoudig.

We came on our honeymoon trip to sri lanka- Blooming rose was one if not the best place we stayed all trip! The owner was amazing, helped us with everything. The room was beautiful, the view was incredible.

Zeer mooie kamer met prachtig uitzicht. Het ontbijt was zeer goed met diverse soorten fruit. Ook het uitzicht vanaf de ontbijtplek was prachtig. Personeel was zeer behulpzaam.

De bereikbaarheid was lastig, taxis/tuktuks vroegen meestal meer omdat het laatste stuk zo steil was. Er zat een vreemde brede kier bij de deur en in de deur. Dit kan echt beter. Ook was het gordijn net iets te doorzichtig. We hebben dit niet voor niks een 10 gegeven dus dit zijn echt de aandachtspunten als je kritisch bent.

Tucked away just about 15 minutes walk away from town centre, Blooming Rose Ella is a beautiful place with incredible views all around. We immensely enjoyed the breakfast! In fact, we all noted it was the best breakfast we have had since the beginning of our trip. They will arrange a free tuk tuk for pick up for you which was a great touch. Communication was clear and quick from booking till the end. They also made travel arrangements for us for our onward journey which was of huge help!! The most outstanding thing about Blooming Rose are the people! The owner is so kind, helpful and just a genuine person, and you can immediately sense it when you meet him. He offered us great insights and tips, and was very accommodating. We would also like to thank the other two gentlemen who worked there who helped us with our luggages and other matters. I would definitely come back here and would recommend!

Blooming Rose Ella was the perfect place for our stay in Ella. It was exceptionally clean, the views off our balcony were so beautiful and the family that own the property were so friendly and could not have been more accommodating. They prepared breakfast each morning which was full of fresh local fruit and other delicious bits. They organised a tuk tuk for us to get to a local tea plantation and gave us lots of helpful information and tips during our stay. As it was our honeymoon they also decorated our room for our arrival which was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. The property itself was only a short 15 minute walk into Ella town along the train track which was the perfect location for our stay. Overall, we could not recommend Blooming Rose Ella enough!

The room was large and clean with the most incredible view. Bit of stairs and a hill to walk up and down but the staff were kind enough to give us rides and assist with bags etc. breakfast was delicious.

The location is truly beautiful, you can see everything from the balcony (Adam's Peak, Ella's Rock, waterfalls and even the railway to the scenic train), breakfast is homemade and really outstanding, fresh fruit and different typical plates everyday, we loved so much hoppers and coconut pancakes! Every room has a small and nice balcony overlooking the mountains. Very cosy and familiar vibe.

Just a couple notes: 1.there are quite steep stairs to get to the main entrance, not a problem for us but I think it needs to be clearly explained or shown in pictures. 2. The bathroom was a little outdated but not a big deal, the only real issue was the lack of hot water. Overall a very enjoyable stay, the family is really nice and helpful and kind.

This is a hidden gem. Everything was perfect. The hotel has an insane view of the natural skyline. Amazing. The family that owns the place is just wonderful. Such lovely people, and so very helpful. The breakfast was amazing, variation of everything and a wonderful coffee. Room is big and spacious. Close to Ella town by walking along the tracks. And with tuktuk.

The staff were very lovely, two young boys who were very responsive and helpful. The room size was good, and the seating area outside the room was a lovely place to enjoy the view. Breakfast was generous and it was great to have a slightly different serving each morning (a lot of hotels we have been to have offered exactly the same each day).

The rooms are clean, the view is insane, right in front of a waterfall. The staff was very helpful and friendly, breakfast was good.

A lot of stairs to climb down and up. If we wanted to go to the city, it's an 12 minutes walk. First of all down the hill and then along the railway.

The road to the hotel is very difficult. You have to walk up stairs between the houses to reach it. Furthermore, we didn’t like the breakfast.

The views at this accommodation are absolutely breathtaking. Breakfast is fantastic and the family running it are so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend staying here.

Superb location on the side of the mountain to take in the view of Ella Rock. Quiet, roomy, secluded and comfortable.

Must have a minimum level of fitness to access the property from the top entrance (significant hill and steps) or from town (steps)

The staff were very friendly & helpful. They offered to drive us up to the local restaurant/bar/spa in their tuk tuk every day (without charging). The rooms were very nice and clean. The views were amazing. It worked really well with having all 4 rooms for our group of 7, as it was fairly intimate. The breakfast options were different every morning, along with fresh fruit. The nine arch bridge was worth seeing.

There are a lot of steps to get up & down to the rooms (although the staff helped carry the bags). It would not suit those who struggle with stairs. Whilst we found a nice restaurant nearby (Serenite) it is a bit out of the main town. We got a tuk tuk to the nine arch bridge walk one day, which was worth doing.

The guesthouse was lovely. View from the room is absolutely breathtaking, fantastic sight to wake up to. It is a very nice location for those looking to hike to Ella rock. A special mention for the host who was incredibly welcoming & friendly and always had a smile on his face and took great care of us. Would definitely recommend this guest house to anyone visiting Ella. It is also quite close to the city as well and has a straight ella rock + little adam’s peak view.

We loved the place.. the view outside the room over a cup of tea/coffee is jus wonderful.. watching the waterfall and birds and squirrels.. I could go on.. this felt like home away from home thanks to Mr Gune and his wife.. and we would look to stay at the same place again when we visit Ella next :) Plz note..the picture taken by my phone doesn't truly show the waterfall properly.. it's bigger than it looks and the sound of the same is heard all across as well.

Der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich und macht ein sehr gutes und leckeres Frühstück. Er fährt auch kostenlos in die Innenstadt oder zu Restaurants.

Klar man zahlt hier eindeutig für die Aussicht, was nicht unbedingt schlimm ist. Das Bad bzw das Zimmer war leider nicht mehr in einem guten Zustand. Wir hatten das vorderste Zimmer und das ist vermutlich mit Abstand am ältesten. Leider etwas muffig und nicht mehr so gut.

Me dejé cautivar por las vistas del sitio, que efectivamente son ideales, pero...

El sitio está en obras, pasas por un acceso de escaleras viejas e inestables, otras escaleras en obras sin barandilla, no hay recepción, está en construcción, y así bajas como 3 o 4 pisos (obvio sin ascensor). El desayuno que en muchas opiniones había leído que muy bueno, a nosotros después de ser nuestro 5o hotel en el país, nos pareció de lejos, el más flojo. Por no hablar que la rampa que hay que subir para llegar, es horrible y nuestro chófer rascaba el coche y no quería pasar por ahí, nos quería dejar para subir la rampa nosotros. Supongo que cuando acaben las obras será otra cosa, pero me pareció fatal que no avisasen de que nos íbamos a encontrar con sumejante percal que no fue nada bonito, desde luego hubiera cambiado la reserva, ya que íbamos de luna de miel, y no fue para nada romántico.

Indeed the guest (very kind, he drove us with the tuk tuk and given to go breakfast) and and view were amazing, clean room but…

The “hotel” is not finished, we had some bad smell in the bathroom that was not solved, water pressure is very low. It is a decent price but still a bit much for what it offers. Also, there are a looot of stairs until the room 7 is a fair score and mostly because of the host who is a 10

Quirky access via steps

This is an amazing place to stay in Ella. It's a little out of the town, but the owner can take you into Ella by Tuk Tuk, or it's a 10-15 minute walk along the train tracks. The views from this accommodation are amazing and the owner is so friendly and helpful. I really recommend this place to make your stay in Ella even more special.

Access to the property can be difficult for anyone who isn't able on their feet. However, if you are fit and able the location is worth it for the views, especially at breakfast time.

This is a beautiful property situated in the hills just outside Ella. The staff here are wonderful and provide a beautiful breakfast and are willing to help all the time. The host organised an amazing cooking class for us and dropped us in Ella with his tuk tuk whenever we needed. It was so thoughtful and helpful. Our room had beautiful views and great facilities - TV, comfy bed, kettle and shower. The tranquility and peacefulness of the stay was what we needed in Ella.

As other reviews mentioned, you do cross through some building work to access the property but apart from walking through it, it didn’t impact on our stay at all. The bathroom probably needs some renovation as there was a slight sewage smell every now and then. However considering the location, the water pressure was great!

Blooming Rose homestay is an absolute gem. There are currently 4 rooms which all have a breathtaking view. Our room was spotlessly clean, the bed was super comfortable and we had a fridge, tea and coffee facilities and a seating area both in the room and on the balcony. An excellent breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the mountains and arrives on the table at exactly the time you request the night before. The very best thing about this homestay however is the wonderful family that run it. They are so kind, nothing is too much trouble. On arrival the owner’s sons were waiting to carry our bags down the steps and made us a lovely pot of tea while we took in the view. The owner recommended a great restaurant slightly further up the hill, ran us up in his tuk tuk then came back to collect us after a couple of hours. The next morning he dropped us right to the door of our cooking class. We offered to pay for these rides but were politely refused. We had a bag of clothes laundered and returned within a day and were driven to and from our tea factory tour both for a very reasonable price. Don’t be put off by mentions of the building site- you do have to negotiate a lot of steps and walk through the extensions they are building but for us this did not detract at all from a wonderful stay. We wish the family all the best with their future plans for Blooming Rose, they have created a very special place and we would love to return one day.

This was the least expensive place we stayed in on our trip, and it was one of our favourites. The view is breathtaking, but the best thing is the family who own and run it - some of the loveliest people we met in a country full of lovely people. Thank you Blooming Rose! Also the walk to Ella down the hill and along the train tracks is gorgeous. Tuktuks back are recommended though, especially after a night in town!

When you first arrive you enter basically a building site - concrete and unfinished construction. Don't worry! Down the stairs is a little oasis.

The balcony, the spaciousness of the room, the breakfast and the quiet location. All of these four were TOP - 10 out of 10 :)

We stayed for four nights and during this time we did not get our rooms cleaned. Would be best if the staff cleans it once every two days since this is a destination primarily for hikers walking in dirt and mud.

The view is like a dream

The views were fantastic, both from the balcony and during breakfast. The owners are incredibly friendly and interested in their guests. Breakfast was fresh and varied. The bed was comfy, bathroom clean and the AC worked. Oh, and a constant WiFi connection to boot!

Currently, the owners are expanding and thus the entrance to the rooms is through a construction site. Not a problem but surprised us when we first arrived.

Unique experience. Peaceful. Beautiful views. Relaxing. Loads of squirrels. Fantastic Sri Lankan breakfast.

At the moment they are constructing additional facilities. Had to walk through a construction site. This will only be temporary and I wish them well with their expansion.

Geweldige plek op de heuvel met prachtig uitzicht, heerlijk en uitgebreid ontbijt en enorm vriendelijke en behulpzame staff.

Dit wisten we al, maar ‘s avonds moet je met een tuktuk naar het centrum. Overdag kan lopen prima. De host is altijd bereid je te helpen en je zelfs te brengen met zijn tuktuk.

De familie is zo ontzettend aardig, en denken met je mee. Wij wouden naar de waterval, en de jongeman checkte toch nog even of we wel de goeie route in Google Maps hadden ingevoerd. Dit zijn dingen die wij ontzettend waarderen. Ontbijten op de veranda is echt geweldig en het ontbijt opzich is ook fantastisch! Goeie tip is om een scooter te huren, die 200 meter van het hotel vandaan is. De ligging is namelijk net wat te ver om savonds te lopen vanuit de stad. Echter wil de eigenaar je ook elk moment van de dag brengen met de tuktuk:)

Er is eigenlijk niks aan te merken op het verblijf. Het enige wat wellicht wat lastiger is, is het feit dat er geen restaurant is.

Our host/owner/family was extremely friendly and had staff waiting for us at the top of the steps as you access it via steps down into it. Not the easiest to find! The room was lovely and a smaller hotel so feels very personable. He explained how to access the rail tracks down and then you walk along them to ella which took maybe 15mins. Feels mad to walk the tracks but its totally normal and when you hear a train and feel a vibration get off! The breakfast one of the best. We think cooked by his wife. Hoppers, egg, fruit with the best views of waterfalls and rolling hills. Could stare at it all day. We left our luggage there after checking out and our host couldn't have been more helpful. Its a good location if you dont mind walking up bit of a hill once youre off the tracks but its not long to get up to the hotel once you leave the tracks. The trade off if you stay slightly out of ella is the views but being further out. On reflection we should have stayed here the whole 3 nights instead of moving further up into the hills. There is construction work going on but it in no way affected our stay. Its from the damage from the awful flooding they had here so im glad they are rebuilding.

The breakfast was delicious and serving was abundant. The family was polite and very welcoming.

The way to the room requires you to pass through an under-construction building which reduces the overall experience. a per the owner, they are expanding and adding more rooms. however, it does affect your experience. in terms of value for money, it should be a little cheaper.

The bed and breakfast was exactly as described — actually, even better! We felt really comfortable from the moment we arrived, and everything worked out perfectly. It truly exceeded our expectations, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!

The view from the bedroom and the breakfast room was amazing. The bedroom was good, clean and comfortable. We enjoined a good breakfast. The staff were very nice and kind.

The hotel actually doesn’t exist, is an open site, under construction. There are only bedrooms and an open breakfast room. We felt uncomfortable staying there. The road to get there was almost impassable: our car stopped on the top of the street and we got down with a tuk tuk. The first day we had hot water for the shower, but not the second day.

Zugang ist nur über steile Treppen und durch eine Baustelle möglich. Der Wasserdruck in der Dusche ist sehr gering, aus diesem Grund ist auch die Badewanne praktisch nicht nutzbar. Im Vergleich zu ähnlichen Unterkünften ist diese insgesamt teuer.

Had to go down 93 steps, through another house that was under construction. (To their credit, the host carried our 2 large suitcases down to the property, and back up on check out.) Unmodernised room. No hot water for shower - hardly warm. Compact room. Thin walls. No noise insulation so can hear neighbouring room. Booked for two nights. Checked out after one - sorry, couldn't wait to leave.
