The location was perfect, right in the middle of everything. Compact, budget room but had the basics covered and was perfectly comfortable. Good value for what is mostly an expensive area to stay.

The basics were clean (sink, toilet , floor) but needed at bit of tlc for light switches, walls and mosquito netting needed a wash. Sheet slid around on mattress as I turned when sleeping as it had no mattress pad protector on it and sheet wasn’t fitted/large enough to tuck in.

Good value with its location, room is clean with hot shower.

The room located inside a gift shop, and my room is at the ground floor, so noisy in early morning and feels less privacy (by passing crowd to the room).

The room was very comfortable and the shared bathroom was right next to it. What we liked a lot was how the guest house and gift shop were decorated. We also had a super nice chat with the owner and an interesting demonstration from the lady making lace in the shop. Also the breakfast was wonderful, they offer good quality coffee from local Sri Lanka farmers.

There is a curfew because the shop closes at 22.30 and then you need to be 'home'

Die Unterkunft war leider in einem sehr schlechten Zustand. Es wirkt alles ungepflegt und nicht richtig gereinigt. Der Putz fällt teilweise von der Decke, es gibt mehrere Kakerlaken und es riecht stark feucht. Im Badezimmer waren an den Fliesen zerdrückte Mücken oder ähnliche Insekten zu sehen, die offenbar nicht entfernt wurden. Das Bad insgesamt ist in einem sehr unangenehmen Zustand.

Booked it on the checkin date, one of the cheapest could be found inside Galle old town. Convenient location, walking distance to all things in old town. Quite during night, Strong AC, Towel provided. The family who run here are nice and helpful. The restaurant right in front of here is nice.

Friendly and helpful staff. I had a few meals at the guesthouse and the food was very tasty, highly recommend and reasonably priced. Great location close to the coast — a lovely walk for sunset

Location is perfect, on the main street in Galle Fort! Walking distance to everywhere and everything. Friendly staff. Strong WiFi. Value for money. So cool that you're actually walking through their souvenir shop, which is amazing!

All was good in general. Only thing could be to scrub the bathroom a bit more thoroughly. A water kettle would be appreciated for making tea.sybe also a mini fridge...

On arrival the owner told us he had taken a lot of bookings since we had booked 6-8 months ago and we would have to move rooms 3 times in our 6 day stay. This is completely unacceptable behaviour to try and shove guests around from pillar to post and inconvenience paying customers. Once a room has been booked do the decent thing and honour the booking or cancel with plenty of time to rebook somewhere else. As it was we had to move rooms once. The standard of the rooms are awful. The rooms were not very clean and there was no cleaning or emptying of the toilet bin unless we switched rooms. Sheets and towels cheap and threadbare. In both rooms the mosquito net didn’t fit together properly so we were both bitten. The second room the mosquito net was disgusting covered in a thick layer of dirt. There was a small cockroach in the second room we stayed in. Both rooms absolutely stank - musty, damp, really unpleasant. I found it difficult to breathe. Bars on the windows, very dark - it looked more like a Romanian jail cell than somewhere you would choose to go on holiday. Our clothes and bags felt wet to the touch when leaving and my hat had gone mouldy. The owners lock the doors at night and you cannot get out before 8am without prior arrangement. If there was a fire here there’s a good chance you would burn to death as we were not informed of any fire exits. This is one of the worst places I have ever stayed and could not recommend it to anyone.

It’s a great location, and a really cute hotel. The staff were lovely and the paid breakfast was delicious.

It was really loud. There was a group up really late and I could hear them so clearly because of the courtyard setting. In addition someone, I think staff, was up until 1am talking on the phone and smoking cigarettes directly outside my room. And then he started again at about 6am. It was really hard to sleep and quite uncomfortable.

Central beliggenhed. Dejligt rent og stort værelse med egen balkon. Selvom der er en souvenirshop ud til gaden, føles det stadig meget privat. Jeg kunne lukke af til min balkon så hele området føltes aflukket og som mit eget. Man mærkede hverken til gæster eller ejerne. Meget roligt. Klar anbefaling.

Emplacement dans la vieille ville est bien. Il faut traverser la boutique pour accéder a la rue. L'ouverture des partes pas avant 7h30.

Perfekte Lage, direkt neben dem besten Café der Stadt, das Coffeebrunch Café. Ventilator und Aircon funktionierten einwandfrei. Sofortige Hilfe bei Problemen ( Schlüssel vergessen etc.

Es gibt nur einen Eingang und der führt durch den angeschlossenen Laden. Nach Geschäftsschluss ist man eingesperrt, was im Falle eines Feuers fatal wäre. Sehr frühes Aufstehen zB zum Sonnenaufgang oder Nachtspaziergänge müssen jedes Mal abgesprochen werden.

The location in the Main Street in Galle is great, but there is a lot of other options to choose from that you may as well select instead of here

We arrived at check in time at 2PM as agreed and were told the room wasn’t ready and to wait - no apologies and no explanation given. The room in the listing is made to appear as if it overlooks a quiet courtyard, however the reality is quite different. It is on the ground floor, with a tiny window that can’t really be opened as it’s in the back of a souvenir shop (which seems to be their main priority/function, rather than hosting guests). The shopkeeper/staff were loudly talking to each other from across opposite sides of the shop late at night, right beside the window when we were trying to sleep so we had to ask them to move elsewhere - they didn’t seem to know or care about the people in the rooms nearby. The mosquito net was actually filthy and covered in a thick dust layer. There is 1 power outlet in the room and it is not beside the bed as advertised, it’s next to the door for some reason? Our shower had no water pressure at all and no hot water so pretty pointless. Overall the worst accommodation in our Sri Lanka trip and not really to the standard we had expected given the reviews so quite a surprise.

The location is great, the staff are nice, and the rooms have everything one would need. Definitely a good place for backpackers and budget travelers.

The host is very accommodating, friendly, and makes you feel at home. The location is great for exploring this beautiful beach town.

I really liked the decor and overall vibe, the position was excellent and good value for money. I had really good string hoppers for breakfast!

The room is everything that the promise for, no hidden fees or unknown details. I dont know about the reticency of other comments, I thought its quite a great stay and very confortable. They had great internet as well, so you could work in their common areas.

Great location in Galle Fort. And the management was friendly and generally responsive.

BE AWARE: You can't leave the hotel in the morning without being let out by the management. This information is not in the hotel description on Booking.com, nor was I told this at check-in. And there's no sign in the hotel letting guests know the procedure. My first morning in Galle, I wanted to go out and walk the streets before they got crowded. I soon realized I was locked in the hotel. There was no way out, nor any information posted for contacting management. Around 7:30 AM the manager arrived and unlocked the downstairs, explaining that I needed to let him know in advance if I wanted to go out early. This information needs to be given guests upfront! It's absolutely irresponsible to lock people in a building and not tell them in advance. What if there were an emergency? Additionally, my room was very small, had no nightstand, shelves, wardrobe, or dresser, so it was impossible to unpack. I had to live out of my suitcase for the four days I stayed at the hotel.

Lovely room. In the heart of the historic city close to restaurants and shops etc. Very peaceful as it was down a quiet alley.

Communication with the family who run the guest house was difficult as most of the time there were no adults there that could speak adequately English.

The location vas perfect just in the Fort area. The room was ok but not more. Small and dark, no window. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Very comfortable and friendly place to stay, right in the middle of Galle Fort. My room was spotless and the breakfast was very good. The hosts were very nice and helped with anything you needed. An easy going and relaxed atmosphere.

Our air conditioning wasn’t working, at first the staff denied there was anything wrong with it however later finally agreed to let us switch rooms

I am a seasoned traveller so its basic nature did not put me off. I have no interaction with the staff nor did I eat there. It was perfectly OK, just very basic. I would happily recommend to the backpacking community. The place had a nice vibe and you could go onto the roof to get views. Brilliant location but pricey, on account of being in Galle.

No hanging or storage space

The room was good, in a old fort building, nice and clean. For the bathroom you have to leave the room, but its just next door and private (no one else is using it).

High price for the value + breakfast is not included. I felt tolerated, but not welcome. There was some friendlier staff as well. We tried to extend one night since we fell ill. We never got an answer because the owner wanted to see if any "better booking" would come in. Because we felt kind of stable in the morning and not welcome, we left anyway.
