We loved our stay! The staff were lovely and super helpful, especially when it came to arranging surf lessons. We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the location - within walking distance of the town centre, but in a quiet spot right by the beach. Exactly what we were looking for! Great value for money. Would definitely stay here again!

Sieht nicht aus wie auf den Fotos. Es waren Spinnen im Zimmer, der Boden war nass, kein Toilettenpapier und der Raum hatte kaum Licht. Das Personal war sehr unfreundlich. Das Ambiente draußen war auch nicht einladend.

Wahnsinnig tolle Unterkunft direkt am Strand!! Wir wollten eigentlich nur zwei Tage bleiben und haben unseren Aufenthalt immer wieder verlängert… einfach ein Ort zum Wohlfühlen, abseits des touristischen Trubels von Arugambay. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit beim Buchen von Tuktuks, Scootern, Taxis und Safaris. Chandran hat uns immer geholfen und war super, super nett - egal, was für Anliegen wir hatten. Alles ist wirklich sauber und es gibt fantastisches Frühstück. Es wird sogar Kaffee direkt an den Strand gebracht:-) Das Meer am Strandabschnitt ist sehr wild und wir haben uns nicht getraut zu baden, das war aber gar nicht schlimm. Man kann tolle Strandspaziergänge machen oder in den gemütlichen Sofas am Strand lesen und den Wellen lauschen.

Locatie was 4 minuten rijden van de grote straat alleen je had wel alle ruimte. Je hebt een privé strandje wat alleen wat te ruig is om in te zwemmen maar was wel heerlijk om er te zitten met een boekje. Personeel was erg vriendelijk en ontbijt was top!

Ze hadden bij de zee het liggedeelte wat gezelliger en minder verlaten erbij mogen laten liggen. Maar er lag tenminste wel iets! Dus geen punt voor ons.

n Arugam Bay werden we met open armen ontvangen bij Sand Dune Beach Resort. Vanaf het eerste moment werden we er mega vriendelijk onthaald en eigenlijk tot het einde volledig in de watten gelegd. Een betere uitvalsbasis konden we ons niet wensen!

Das Personal war sehr nett und sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Die Anlage selbst ist absolut gepflegt, den Strand hat man meist für sich alleine.

Die Bäder könnte man in den Bungalows etwas frischer machen! Ansonsten hatten wir oft nen ziemlich starken Wind, so dass man den Strand relativ wenig nutzen konnte!

The area is relatively speaking quiet and the other guests were friendly.

The value is not great, i would actually say it’s downright bad. The bathroom was really worn out, same with the common facilities. No yoga class even though the hotel has pictures of yoga classes being had at the property. The breakfast service is really slow, even though we were alone in the dining room we had to wait for an hour for simple toasts to be ready. The hotel advertises that they rent Tuktuks, so we rented one for a couple of days. We got the keys to it but zero explenation of how it works. Well it was relatively easy to understand and we got going. But the staff failed to tell us that the fuel tank was almost empty. We managed to get about 3 km and the fuel run out. Then we had to wait for over an hour to get someone to help us with more fuel, and the staff gaslighted us and wondered what we where thinking when we went without first topping up with fuel. Firstly, who rents a scooter or tuktuk without fuel? Secondly, if you do that be 100% sure that you tell your customer that so they don’t get stranded on a road when it’s 32 degrees hot and sunny. We used their laundry service, we dropped the bags with clothes to the staff during the afternoon and the staff promised to us that they would be ready the next morning, well they failed to deliver what was promised and we got the clothes 5pm instead. And it seemed like other guests had the same issues too. The struggles continued when we were going to checkout. First, the hotel didn’t offer us an early checkout at 7:00, they could do 7:30 the earliest which wasn’t an option for us. So we had to do the payment late during the evening before the last night and even that ended up being a hazzle. Neither mine or my wifes bank cards (two different banks) worked for the hotels payment device. We had been in Sri Lanka for well over a week and paid with both cards at multiple places without issues.

Loved everything about this place, super chilled, clean rooms, hammocks, good aircon, fab breakfast and staff. Loved the out of the way quiet location.

Een comfortabel huisje, met badkamer, comfortabel bed en genoeg ruimte. Aan het huisje zit een terrasje met stoelen en hangmat. Het ontbijt was heerlijk, het personeel doet er alles aan om je een fijn verblijf te geven. Wij waren hier 6 dagen en hebben het erg goed gehad!

Es un timo, tienen en la web unas fotos bonitas de unas cabañas al lado del mar y cuando llegas te intentan meter en un cuarto detrás de recepción y te dicen que las cabañas son para estancia largas pero en la web ni rastro de esas otras habitaciones. Además con muy mala educación diciendo que era lo que habíamos reservado y nos tocó discutir un rato largo para que nos devolvieran el dinero e irnos.

Mooie locatie direct aan zee. Afkoelen in de branding is goed te doen maar om te zwemmen is de zee daar te wild. Daarvoor, en voor de restaurants en winkels, moet je iets verderop naar ‘het centrum’. Met tuk tuk ben je daar zo (ca 300/400 roepie). Kleinschalige opzet en aankleding geeft leuke sfeer.

Wij hadden 2 standaard kamers/huisjes en 1 luxere. Die laatste zat vlak achter de receptie en moet je niet nemen! Is veel kleiner dan de standaard en ook de airco deed het niet. Na aantal malen klagen kregen we een ander luxe huisje en die was wel prima. Heb deze ervaring ook in eerdere review gelezen en tijdens ons verblijf is airco ook niet gemaakt. Lijkt erop dat ze dit bewust doen (want duurder huisje) totdat je gaat klagen.

Mooie locatie, lekker rustig en niet in het hele drukke gebied. Parkje met huisjes is mooi en mooi aan zee. Leuke chillplek in de lobby. Surfles goed geregeld.

Ik had de deluxe kamer, deze vond ik erg basic en niet zo ruim. Daarnaast goed om een dag van te voren aan te geven dat je graag een sri lankaans ontbijt wil, dat wist ik niet.

Schön ruhig und einsam in den Dünen gelegen

Als Alleinreisende Frau etwas seltsam dort. Habe mich öfter nicht ganz so wohl gefühlt. Aber als Paar oder mit Freunden sicher richtig toll!

Die Villen sind sehr gut ausgestattet. Der Wasserkocher und ein kleiner Kühlschrank sind besonders angenehm. Hier gab es endlich auch regale, um den Koffer auszupacken. Das Personal ist mega nett und kann für sehr gute Preise surfen und Ausflüge anbieten. Das Hotel ist nur 5 min mit dem Tuk Tuk von den Restaurants entfernt und herrlich ruhig. Die Hängematten und Sitze draussen haben wir täglich benutzt.

Das einzige was etwas schade ist, ist dass das Meer hier extrem wild ist, also haben wir uns nicht getraut baden zu gehen.

Really comfortable place, felt like home because the staff were so attentive and kind. Couldn’t recommend more. A little bit away from the main busy street but still walking distance. We enjoyed so much we extended 3 times!

Privacy in beach area. Peaceful. Safe parking confy rooms. Friendly staff , delicious food and there are plenty of varieties.. Excellent fish bbq. U must try. Typical Beach vibe. U find peace here. No rush and look forward to visiting again.

We had a wonderful stay. The property offers great facilities, including beach beds, hammocks under the palm trees, a cozy bonfire area and bbq nights by the ocean, and comfortable outdoor seating. The atmosphere at night is beautiful with all the lights. The Starlink Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, which was perfect for staying connected while enjoying the beach

Kamil était extrêmement disponible, au petit soin, attentionné, souriant, un vrai Bonheur et il a toujours été à l’écoute alors que c’était sa 1ere semaine dans cette Guest House - nous tenons grandement à le remercier, ainsi que son collègue, qui ont su tous les 2 gérer les petites problématiques (coupures de courant par exemple) de l’établissement. Les repas étaient copieux et succulent, ainsi que les petits déjeuners toujours au top. Kamil a été tout particulièrement attentionnés envers notre fils de 7 ans jusqu’à aller lui acheter des pastèques tard le soir….encore un grand bravo à notre cher Kamil et son collègue qui ont su rendre notre séjour exceptionnel.

La plage n’est pas forcément adaptée au baignade familiale car les vagues y sont puissantes, mais nous avons pu malgré tout en profiter.

Le personnel est agréable et accueillant. Le petit déjeuner est copieux Bon rapport qualité prix qui permet de séjourner à Arugam Bay pour pas trop cher

Plage à proximité dangereuse pour la baignade. Pensez à réserver un des logements avec climatisation car certaines chambres n'en sont pas équipées.

My room had no net in the bathroom so basically we were supposed to use the bathroom with a huge hole in the ceiling and enjoy all the insects coming into the room. AC wasn’t working, and the pictures of the outdoor seating areas is nowhere near reality, basically there are few huts and the remaining camp is a still under construction.

The staff tried to be as helpful as possible so we asked to change rooms with one that has AC and the bathroom is not out in the open but they didn’t offer that till i pushed. When we switcher rooms the fridge smelled like rotten fish and we asked for covers they had none, no duvets or nothing only bedsheets Definitely never coming back again.

The staff was so helpful and lovely. They were always trying to help. The place is beautiful, straight on the beach and I loved everything about my small cabana/ house. I would 100% recommend anyone to stay here

it’s a 10/15 min walk to town, but you can do it on the beach and it’s gorgeous, and there’s always tuk tuk around if you don’t want to walk.

This is a fabulous location right on the beach with a large garden full of palm trees. The staff are so lovely and helpful and really welcoming people who will go out of their way to organize stuff for you and make you comfortable. You get a gorgeous private terrace to enjoy the evenings or to just lounge around and beautiful beach area to relax by the ocean

The property was at quite an off location and there were lizards inside the room. I do appreciate that the property is within natural surroundings however on requesting the staff to help, they denied saying that you can leave the property and pay cancellation charges. At the time of checkout also they charged extra taxes over and above the booking.com prices and I’ve requested an invoice which I have still not received. They work on only cash model which explains why they don’t give invoices. Very bad experience.

Wir waren am Anfang der Saison da, sodass noch alles im aufbau war und noch nicht fertig war. Es gab z.b. keine strandbetten, das Restaurant war nicht regulär geöffnet und wir hatten keine Mückennetze über den Betten. Man ist ziemlich weit von der "city" und dem ruhigeren strand entfernt. Zu fuß nicht zu empfehlen, mit tuktuk kein Problem.

Situato in una zona tranquilla, a sud del centro di Arugam Bay, su una spiaggia Lo staff, in particolare Chandran e Dhanushka, sono stati sempre pronti ad aiutarci con un sorriso

Essendo ancora in fase di sviluppo, ci sono dei fisiologici piccoli inconvenienti, del tutto superabili

L’hôtel est parfait au calme avec une entrée sur la plage. Les chambres sont propres et le personnel est adorable. Les petits déjeuners sont bons. Un peu loin du centre mais en quelques minute en tuktuk vous êtes en ville. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir

Direkt am Meer, geschützt von einer Sanddüne, konnte ich eine naturnahe Unterkunft mit Kochnische und Kühlschrank bekommen. Eine leichte Brise sorgt für Kühlung. Ganz besonders angenehm ist die herzliche Aufnahme durch den Manager, der sich auch weiterhin für Hilfe anbietet, Tuck Tuck bestellen, Wäsche waschen organisiert, beim Fahrradmieten behilflich ist..........! Es war eine entspannte Woche, mit Wohfühlkarakter. Hier komme ich gerne wieder her.

Chandran est une perle ! Il anticipe et résoud le moindre de vos besoins et désirs. De plus, c’est un homme à tout faire et il cuisine très bien. La proximité de la plage et le bruit des vagues depuis notre chambre. Le bon petit déjeuner à la carte.

Sand Dune was an absolute pleasure to stay at. The location is perfect — right on the beach with beautiful views and a super relaxed atmosphere. Waking up to the sound of the ocean and sunsets here was unforgettable.

The place is so quite and peaceful that I would recommend it to everyone who needs quite time away from the main arugambay street. Which is still not far away for everyone who wants to have a bit more going on. Place is neat, staff is the most friendliest in whole of Sri Lanka I have met. The kindest people. Specially Chandiran. He is the kindest soul and his cooking skills are like my moms! I’m amazed! Definitely coming again with more family and friends.

We attempted several times to contact the hotel before arriving, but received no response. Upon reaching the location, the hotel was locked and there was no staff present. We tried again to contact the hotel, but were unsuccessful. As a result, we were forced to book alternative accommodation. This reflects extremely irresponsible management, and we do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Everything was incredible. The owner is an incredibly kind person, he helped me with everything from organising tuk tuks, to organising and cooking food, always providing fresh juice and fruits, always asking if I needed anything. He can organise safaris and surf camps too. He provided everything I needed to make a small fire each night outside my home. We became family in only a week. There is a tuk tuk driver available on site too. The location is absolutely beautiful, quiet, sounds of the waves, magical stars, the accomodation is wonderful clean homey, with hammock and small kitchen, everything you need. I rented a bicycle to get to Arugam bay town, only a 5 min ride. I completely recommend to everyone to stay here. Thank you so much sand dune resort!!! Will come back one day when I return to Sri Lanka. 🙏

Our family bungalow for four people was right in the dunes and we could see the waves rolling in from our window. This view in combination with the delicious breakfast was a perfect start into the day. If you have a chance, just ask them if they can cook Sri Lankan food for dinner - you surely won‘t regret it, it was delicious. The staff went out of their way to make all our wishes come true. They are the best! We had so much fun and miss them already! We will come back for sure! Thank you much for everything!

De huisjes zagen er super leuk en goed uit, de locatie was ook top! Aan zee.

De service was echt wel goed, maar er was een meneer die de hele tijd rondliep die niet goed Engels sprak, hierdoor moesten we vaak een tijd wachtenzodat er iemand anders kwam

L'ensemble n'est pas en très bon état, comme les extérieurs, etc. Il manque un lieu de vie en extérieur plus convivial pour manger ou boire un verre.

Un piccolo paradiso a 5 min di tuk tuk da Arugam Bay. Sì può scegliere tra varie tipologie di stanze, noi all’inizio abbiamo scelto la capannina basic che poi abbiamo cambiato con la capanna più moderna. È bello dormire con il rumore del mare.

La stanza che abbiamo preso dopo aveva il bagno all’aperto ma comunque ci siamo adattati.

Geen airco, hele slechte hygiëne zoals witte vlekken op het beddengoed. Wormpjes die over het bed lopen en in de klamboe. Klamboe heeft flinke gaten. Meerdere kakkerlakken op de kamer en in de badkamer zat denk een mierennest aangezien er echt mega veel liepen. Vanaf 04:00 begint de moskee met zingen ieder half uur. Zeker geen aanrader, omdat je door de slechte hygiëne, 30+ temperatuur kamer en de halve dierentuin er loopt! Tegenover ons huisje was het een bouwval. Overal puin en rotzooi Reviews zijn wisselend maar hadden gehoopt dat het mee zou vallen. Dat viel het zeker niet. Misschien dat de nieuwere huisjes wel beter zijn maar verwacht voor het geld dat we ervoor neer moesten leggen wel dat het schoon zou zijn. Je moet via een achterwijk richting het centrum

We stayed in the 2bed family hut on the beach front. It was rustic but for a beach hut was pretty good space enough for us 4 Fridge in the room. Cooking facilities were basic but fine Rolling surf surf noise as you fell asleep; and a view of the sunrise if you were up early enough Quiet away from the bustle of Main Street and only probably a 15min-20min walk to Baby surf along the beach although I suggest you start early as it gets quite hot early.

As a family room both beds were doubles which is annoying but twins in family rooms seems to be common in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was not included in the price and was pretty ordinary- omelette and fruit plate was the best they could do. Couldn't do pancake or good coffee. It would be worth going into town if you want anything else. The common area was pretty ordinary. It would have been simple to put in some bean bags; games; and more shade/ greenery to make it more comfortable and inviting. Lunch and dinner options were very limited, but no menu - you had to ask. It would have been simple to put together a basic menu with prices and ask that you pre order if necessary (for example a sea food BBQ ) when you couldn't be bothered to go into town. Tuk tuk driver assigned to the place was generally grumpy

Very quiet place out of the busy main street. 18 minutes by walk from the centre of Arugam. 18 mon from elephant rock. Cabin for the family was basic but beds were comfortable. Nice view on the ocean from the rooftop room. Tuktuk driver drom the hotel is very kind amd helpful.

We did not try the breakfast but they do not propose anymore lunch or dinner, which is a pity

Struttura situata a 10 min a piedi dal centro, un piccolo angolo di paradiso tra palme e oceano. Lo staff è stato molto gentile con noi e hanno un tuc tuc riservato sempre disponibile che può accompagnare in centro o ovunque si voglia! Posto ben tenuto e molto pulito!

L’unica nota positiva è stato il servizio laundry

Camera piccola e buia, senza la possibilità di aprire le finestre in quanto sprovvista di tende. La cosa peggiore però è stata il bagno, senza tetto, all’esterno della camera e con animali e insetti. Questa struttura non ha niente a che vedere con un resort.

Hele lieve staff, leuk strand huisje, lekker ontbijt, met tuktuk zo in het stadje. AragumBay zelf is geweldig.

Er was veel geluid in de nacht van kraaien, eekhoorns en de moskee en Buddha gebeden om 4 uur in de ochtend. De huisjes zijn heel gehorig. Oordoppen aangeraden. De zee bij de accommodatie is te heftig om te zwemmen, maar bij AragumBay zelf is het geweldig zwemmen en surfen.

A bit pricey. Wifi doesnt work good, but happens in the whole island. There is power cuts for 3 to 5 hours a day, but again all area. Mattress is like a rock, matter of preferences though, i rather soft ones

Het meest unieke aan deze locatie waren de vrijstaande villa's verspreid over een prachtig duinpark met hoge palmbomen die schaduw boden. Doordat je uit de directe drukte van Arugam Bay verblijft, kun je zelf kiezen wanneer je de drukte opzoekt.

La struttura si trova in una zona tranquilla a pochi metri dalla spiaggia incontaminata e a 10 minuti a piedi dal centro di arugambay. Lo staff è super disponibile e gentile, puoi noleggiare uno scooter direttamente da loro oppure usufruire del servizio tuk tuk (a pagamento) per raggiungere spiagge o altri luoghi di interesse. Hanno anche la lavanderia se serve. Ci sono Diversi tipi di alloggi, capanne o stanze +/- attrezzate a seconda delle preferenze, e puoi rilassarti sulle amache posizionate all'ingresso di ogni camera e sentire le onde dell'oceano che si infrangono a riva. La colazione è buona e abbondante, volendo si può anche pranzare e cenare, sono super disponibili ad aiutarti e soddisfare ogni esigenza o bisogno.

Miglioramenti possibili: - Maggiore pulizia - Bagno chiuso (il NS bagno era praticamente esterno alla camera, un po' scomodo) - Non avevano l' hairdryer ma ce l'hanno procurato - servizio tuk tuk almeno per il centro potrebbe essere gratuito - zanzariere alle finestre (c'era solo quella intorno al letto) - colazione potrebbe essere inclusa nel prezzo

Kakerlaken im Bad, Käfer im Bett, Wifi mehrfach länger nicht funktioniert, Klimaaanlage anfangs nicht funktioniert, Roller zwingend (zu heiss um ins belebte Zentrum zu laufen), Begrüssung und Informationen bei Ankunft unzureichend

De plek en het huisje waren erg leuk!

Toen wij aankwamen was er de hele middag geen stroom of water om te douchen. Dat was een lokaal probleem dus niet hun schuld. Het was in de avond weer opgelost en toen werkte het prima. Wifi valt wel heel vaak weg. Dat was voor ons onhandig.

Leuk verblijf! Huisje zag er van binnen goed uit. Ventilator deed het prima en fijne douche. Helaas verder van het bekende zwemstrand, maar verder super!
