The place is a hidden gem of Moalboal. Located in a tranquil area, very close to the crystal clear beach, close to a great local restaurant with good foods, and with all of the craftsmanship the host they put in every details, from the interior design, to the daily customer care, the homestay offers a great ambiance and services. We cannot expect for more and we will definitely come back to stay here for our next trip!

The staff was exceptionally courteous, friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were tasty, and our hosts prepared a delicious Philipino meal for us and other guests on our second night. A special place managed by special people!
The place was quiet and comfortable.
I just didn't like the way we were treated. Somehow it felt like all they wanted was to get as much money from us as possible. Also we extended one extra night and afterwards discovered they gave us a higher price than to other guests. My recommendation would be to not book any tours or gear through them, you better get it in town.
Good location, still need a vehicule to get places or walk 30mn to the main street for restaurants Staff is very nice, breakfast is well cooked
Noise from roosters and dogs at night but hey you get that everywhere
David and the crew were the best part of the stay. They were very friendly, very helpful and kind. They are the reason we will for sure come and visit again. I highly recommend the place. The location is good, 10min away from the main area by scooter. You can rent the scooter from the place. The room was clean, place makes you feel you are in a more natural area. If you are seeking for a calmer place, this is the bwst choice
This is a quirky little place which we enjoyed very much. David was an excellent host, he couldn't have been more helpful. My husband was very ill while we were there (nothing to do with the hotel) and he helped us to get to a doctor and showed genuine concern. There is a very small beach nearby, which he helped us to find - really amazing snorkelling right off the beach and fabulous sunsets, but we did encounter a sea snake! David said, 'Oh, that's Sheila, she's okay!' Great power bowls for breakfast with yoghurt, fruits etc, most enjoyable. We stayed in a traditional style bungalow with an outdoor bathroom which was very comfortable. It's a quiet location but there was a good restaurant within walking distance.
It was a 10 minute tuk tuk ride into town, which we didn't mind at all, but if you want to be in the heart of things this is probably not the place for you.
Loved that it was a little out of the busy main town, lots of friendly locals. Really exceptional staff, so friendly and accommodating. The place is handmade with so much creativity and traditional Filipino style, we loved it. Also the scuba diving at the secret spot, amazing!
Would love there to be a more comfortable seating option in the private hut garden.
It was a beautiful place a little on the side from the center an all the tourists. Quiet and comfortable with a lot of nature. David, the host was amazing (his cooking skills as well!), helped us organize everything we needed without any stress or problems, it was just super easy and relaxing. There is also a small beach very near, great for snorkling and turtles. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, great space to chill on the balcony in the evenings looking at a green scenery. Amazing stay!
Superking very comfortable quality mattress and bedding. Very large room and ensuite. Hot/cold fresh water available for free in reception. 3 min walk to a quiet beach no tourists with beautiful snorkeling. Equipment available to rent at Herbs. David and staff very helpful and accommodating with good sense of humour. Quieter area away from hustle and bustle of town.
No a/c and room was very hot. 2.5- 3 km from main area with restaurants/bars/ shops so this does take 30-40 mins to walk or 200peso tuk tuk ride each way. Toilet broken and leaking (which was fixed) but still leaking after pipe repair. Would be nice to have extra storage space available in the room as clothes were mostly on the floor.
David is an excellent host. He does everything to make sure you have a pleasant stay.
Personale molto gentile e disponibile
Hello A very chaotic arrival on New Year's Eve Very rushed welcome and the essentials in the bungalow (soap, towels, etc.) were not provided, so we had to ask for them and rent a scooter. The first scooter we rented did not have lights for riding at night, so we had to change scooters. That being said, it is a peaceful and quiet location. The breakfast was very limited, which was a shame for a local immersion experience. Thank you to the team for doing their best despite everything. We found the transport/transfer rates to be high, as well as the price-to-accommodation ratio.
Prompt reception
- friendly staff
- the place is very distant to the main area and you need your own transport - the restaurant is closed and nothing nearby - for the quality of the bungalow, the price was way too high - it is far from being ’deluxe’, no air-con and no space in the bungalow and very thin walls - the noise of animals at night makes it impossible to sleep - their is no beach, but snorkeling is possible from a public beach
Away from main road.
Herbs Guest House is an absolute must-stay in Moalboal. It’s wonderfully peaceful, yet only a 5-minute drive from the main street, so you get the best of both worlds. The staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely went above and beyond to make our stay special. It was my partner’s birthday during our visit, and David was amazing—he helped me coordinate decorating the room, arranged a fantastic cake, and even helped me surprise my partner when we returned from our activities. His support didn’t stop there; he also assisted with arranging transport around Moalboal, which made everything so easy and stress-free. The room itself was beautiful—cozy, thoughtfully designed, and with a lovely earthy theme that made it feel like a true retreat. We had an amazing experience and would absolutely stay here again. Highly, highly recommend!
The staff is amazing! Trippi and his father make us feel like at home! The property is just 2 mins walk from a hidden beach where you can snorkel and have a peaceful walk when the tide is low. We also had dinner at the property and that was the best pad Thai of our life. It’s very close to Panagsama road but quite and nature place.
I enjoyed the privacy and coziness. Also, the family that owned the property were amazing, very nice and welcoming.
The location is really cozy, we had a bungalow with a small garden outside and it was just perfect. The bathroom outside was perfect. The personnel are amazing, very welcoming and happy to support us with any request (they accommodated for us a 4.30 AM breakfast and check out)
It's a bit outside of the main city center, therefore any time you need to wait for a tuktuk or rent a bike, which the hotel offers as a service. And the personnel are always happy to support
Very nice bamboo house. We really enjoyed our stay. It felt private. To get to center you can talk to reception and for 150 Php tuktuk will be there.
If you like to sleep for long time, it is not place for you. You can hear chickens and cocks form around 5am.
Good vibes, cool people. Nice room.
No air con. But it was ok.
**Location & Accessibility:** The hotel is located down a bumpy, rocky dirt road that’s difficult to navigate, especially without a private vehicle. Catching a taxi or ride-hailing service is nearly impossible, so transportation is a major hassle. **Room Conditions:** - The room is cramped with no wardrobe or storage space for clothes. - The door lock uses a tiny, flimsy key that feels unsafe for securing personal belongings. - No air conditioning—prepare for warm nights. **Noise Issues:** - **Wildlife sounds:** Tokay geckos (tắc kè) call loudly at night, which might startle you awake. - **Early morning disturbances:** Dogs barking and roosters crowing as early as 4-5 AM will disrupt your sleep. **Verdict:** This place is only suitable for those who: ✔ Aren’t light sleepers. ✔ Don’t mind *very* basic, no-frills accommodations. ✔ Want an "authentic" countryside experience (with all its challenges). If you need comfort, security, or quiet, avoid this hotel.
Quiet place, tasty breakfasts and really helpful and friendly staff. This place has amazing atmosphere and we really enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend Herbs guest house!
We had an amazing experience we will remember probably forever. Showering under the moon, enjoying evenings in our cosy terrace and having one of the best breakfasts!
My mom and her husband arrived to the property and their kubo had a foul odor. They talked to the property and these said that they should cancel through booking. Booking circled their way to the property, saying the room should be cancelled through the property. Non of these two (property nor booking) offered a valid solution (an alternative kubo, another hotel?) their customer service is so poor that my Mom had to go to book another hotel room (with payment implications) whilst this hostel retained the full amount and didn’t even offer any alternative solutions. I’m using this platform since 2013 and I never had encountered a venue who retain your full amount even you’re not using their services. They have probably re booked the same room and doubled their earnings.
Amazing staff and lovely home stay
Everyone is just lovely. The whole accomodation has a wonderful vibe. The food is always freshly made and also grown by the owners! They were always around to help us and even made us fresh sandwiches when we left at 5 AM! We really had a great time and would love to come back.
Honestly there was nothing that bothered us. Just because I‘ve seen many negative reviews from others: Yes, you can hear animals at night - nothing the owners could control. Their own animals are quiet. The rooms are like in the pictures; the windows don‘t have glass, which does make a lot of airflow possible that we loved. You need a moped to get around which you can book here and the roads aren‘t always the best but again - nothing the owners could control. But it’s really near all the main attractions and a little drive is always met with beautiful scenery and a perfect moment to cool down.
Charming little place, definitely an experience. The food was good, and the staff very helpful with anything we needed. They run an honesty book system which is rare to see these days!
There was a slight confusion with my booking upon arrival and I'm not convinced we were given the size bungalow we originally booked. But it didn't bother us too much, except there was very little space to put our things down. No room cleaning or fresh towels unless you ask, I guess? We stayed for 3 nights but again, it didn't bother me to use the same towel or sleep in the same sheets. It would have been nice to have some shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom though!
The road is a little bumpy getting there but it's quiet and really a great getaway
The staff were nice and friendly and it’s only a 2 minute walk to the sea to swim. They also arranged our transport for us and we booked canyoneering easily through them.
I think if you’re going to stay in a hostel in moalboal you might as well stay closer to town. They waited for us to check in at 10pm which was good of them but we didn’t even get given our room key or told much about the place. We had to go back to reception and look for the key ourselves as the man already left. WiFi doesn’t work in the rooms, only in the restaurant area.
The place is simply great 10 min far from the center calm at night KIKO the manager is a fantastic man and dive master. All the staff is kind and always at disposal I am going to miss them! I hope to come back soon!
Room was spacious and setting overall looked cozy. Breakfast was very nice
I have the feeling cleanliness could have been better, room was very humid and we had leaking in the bathroom so it was always full of water. The net around the bed for mosquitoes has small holes and many stains plus larvas of insects stick to the wall - so it resulted a bit disgusting.
Lovely quiet place in Cebu. Super chilled atmosphere and nice bungalows!
Everything here is great. Cosy rooms, close to ocean, nice people and tasty food 😁
> Room was spacious and the hotel is very cozy. > Friendly staff, very helpful. We loved the atmosphere ! > Breakfast is incredible ! > Rented a scooter in a close by restaurant, gave us all the freedom to visit around the area for 2 days.
> We were in a room and it felt a little like a bunker : no air getting in so the heat was unbearable (even with 2 fans we struggled). > We were a little disappointed by the fact that we also chose this hotel thanks to the very attractive photos of the dishes of the restaurant but the chef being on sick leave the restaurant was closed (beside serving breakfast).
The bungalows are awesome! Beautiful, rustic, charming. The whole garden and all the staff are amazing.
Since everything is kind of open space, you will most propably get mosquitos inside.
Francis was a very good host. We had a small bungalow which was beautiful and very cosy. It included a small backyard and an outdoor shower and toilet. Breakfast was included and was fine. The place was very nice and quiet. About 20min from the main road.
The only thing we didn't like was the amount of insects in the bungalow, but since the whole thing is open and made of natural materials, we understand. Only the mosquito net could be better to work better. We think there were bed bugs or something in the bed.
The property was clean but very warm. We had to ask for an additional fan which we were provided. Mosquito net provided which is needed as outdoor huts. Loved the bathroom outdoors very cool vibe. Free cold bottled water which was lovely. Lovely dogs on side. 5 min ped from town which was fine for us.
The stay was more money compared to most which did include 3 breakfast options but due to being low season and quiet had a reduced menu.
Beautiful setting , loved the outdoor shower
This is the place to stay in Moalboal. It was away from town so peaceful and relaxing. The bungalow had everything we needed and the staff were amazing, always there to help and organize everything we needed. Could organize tours and airport pick up/drop off for a decent price. The food at the restaurant was amazing highly recommend eating there for dinner. We loved our stay and would go back just to stay there
They were the most lovely people. We arrived late and that was no problem at all. The breakfast was amazing and they happily answered all the questions we had. The accommodation itself is beautiful and although there are only fans, it wasn't too hot for us. The bathroom was beautiful too. There are super cute dogs as well that will keep you company during breakfast. Would highly recommend this place to everyone!
Great spot to stay if you like the peace and relaxed natural vibes! Quite nights and the hosts are super nice and down to earth. It's a quick 5 minute zip to the city centre and you can a scooter on site, easy! Smooth stay and I would go back in a heartbeat!
Everything
Nothing
It was homey, the food was nice the owner/host is very accomodating we had a very late check out since we went island hoping before we went home, definitely value for money and would recommend this place to groups
A little bit out of the way but if you have a car its ok
Everything! Great customer service from the team- all so friendly and helpful. The food was some of the best I have had while travelling the Philippines - highly recommend the lemongrass chicken and also the chicken and banana. Loved the bathroom! Great place to chill and relax, small walk to go snorkeling and a great sunset spot.
Nothing
Great deaign
Far from center
The accomodation was very close to the sea, there is a cosy, rocky beach there. The food (both dinner and breakfast) were great. The room was small, but clean.
Aside from the tiny, rocky beach, it is far from all main points of interest in Moalboal.
It’s an adventure and it comes with the perks.
If you sleep deep it’s yours. If you are like me a light sleeper, 4 am is your wake up due to all the roosters in the Philippines waking you up. And all the dogs might keep you awake longer with their evening songs. Best to get some super cheap cocktails to guarantee your sleep as one solution. 😂
